Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Loving all the shoe and underwear chat, although I cannot relate to the large feet issue. I'm 5'7, 32 inch leg, but somehow my feet never caught up with me, so I'm a 4/5 in a shoe 😂

My NSV today is buying a pair of New Look size 18 jeans, no stretch, and not from the 'curve' section. When I started I was pouring myself into my 20s and if I'm honest, should've sized up.

Off on holiday on Mon, Italy then Lisbon. Hoping to feel much better and fitter at 33.5lbs down.

MooBaggage · 12/09/2025 22:54

I'm a Molke bra girl and will never wear anything else! I like the original and flexible styles and they're sooooo comfy!

I've got the older version of these boots - have had them for about 7 years and wear them every day, for everything, between Sept - March 🙄 They're the most comfortable things and have seen me through years of plantar fasciitis. Now that that's gone, I could possibly branch out and buy other actual footwear.... 😮

@RobinEllacotStrike oh dear yes, I was so pleased with myself wearing little exercise shorts for the first time ever and then caught sight of my thighs while attempting downward dog. Not a good angle. Nope.

but very much appreciating the clodhopper tips. My feet are ‘only’ about 7.5 but very wide, even though no longer chubby. Like I’m adapted for walking on snow or sand. Some of my most useful shoes are now too loose, so I’ve spent a lot of time this evening fruitlessly searching for elegant brown flats that would go on.

Questions1234 · 13/09/2025 06:39

Hello everyone.

I’ve been on MJ since January and enjoying reading your everyone’s updates/messages. I’ve been losing steadily since I’ve started - around 1kg a week and am now a a few kgs away from a 40kg loss. It’s far more than I thought I’d ever lose, but still has me (just) in the obese category so still more to go.

So on to my point… after barely any comments (apart from people who knew I was on MJ/had noticed I was exercising more etc) literally every single person I’ve seen this week has made a comment. Either they’ve jumped in with a direct comment about my weight, or I’ve got the British “you’re looking well”. Although it’s coming from a good place (in most cases!) I’m finding it really tricky to handle - uncomfortable and annoying.

It’s one to ponder on as to why I find it so hard, but wondering what other’s use to indicate that they don’t want to talk about it without being rude/harsh? As I say, people mean well, and very happy to discuss in the right place/right person, but not when I wrangling my kids in the rain!

Thanks!

toomuchicecream · 13/09/2025 07:04

@Questions1234 my stock reply is ‘thank you - I’ve been doing a lot of swimming.’ Followed by (depending on how much I want them to change subject) much tedious detail about the lake I’ve started to swim in this summer and how nice the local leisure centre pool is…

All entirely true and neatly moves the conversation away from how I’ve lost the weight!

Slowlyslowlysurely · 13/09/2025 07:09

@Questions1234 i totally understand where you’re coming from. I’m happy to hear the compliments from close friends but it feels intrusive from colleagues or people I know less well. I work in a school and a parent actually asked me how much weight I’d lost yesterday! I was completely gobsmacked and didn’t answer so she asked again before saying “oh well you look great however much you’ve lost!” 😳 another parents told me I look ‘tiny’ which at 94kg is ridiculous and feels insincere. I wonder if the problem is me not knowing how to handle a compliment after years of not receiving them or are people being rude to comment on my weight?

sorry no I’ve just realised I have no advice 🤣🤣

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/09/2025 08:25

Depending on who the comment is from, my general response is just to smile, and say ‘oh Thank you, you look wonderful too’ then move on to a different subject.

People who I actually know and like and want to have a conversation with, I’ll answer honestly if they ask how I lost the weight, and more generally if they ask how much (quite a bit. A few stone, more than I’d like to admit ha ha).

ShrankLastWinter · 13/09/2025 08:37

Depends who they are and how I’m feeling. Sometimes I say ‘Yes, I work out a lot, feel my muscles!’ and shove an arm at them. This is for oversteppers but also teenage and younger girls, because I don’t want the focus for them on weight loss but strength gain.

Nice people, especially if overweight, I’m happy to tell about the medication because they’re often wondering about it for themselves.

gimmemounjaro · 13/09/2025 08:54

Weigh day for me today after 5 weeks of maintenance

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 152.9 / 10st 13 / BMI 22.6
GW: remain in the 150s

This week - 2.0 lbs
Total - 88.3 lbs / 6st 4

Going well so far, currently 3lbs below my maintenance start weight, although I’ve had covid this week so not got a great appetite at the mo.

Dose is now down to 6.8mg, was 15mg (briefly) at its height, then settled at 10mg for several months. No difference detected yet except my low bp seems to have recovered a bit 🤞
(Could be the covid)
And I think I’m sleeping a bit better.
I have a challenging week to come, stressy work away from home all week so will be relying on Pret and Deliveroo when not eating out. Let’s see how that goes.

GiveMeWordGames · 13/09/2025 09:16

Good to hear maintenance is still going well for you @gimmemounjaro as you titrate down.

Enjoying the bigfoot chat. 😁I'm a size 8/42 and have had many 'robust' conversations over the years with shoe shops who claim a 41 is an 8. It sometimes feels like, while clothes manufacturers woke up years ago to the fact that not all women are 5ft5 with a 29" inside leg, shoe shops are still stuck in the 80s. In Clarks, only last week, I had the head-tilt "well, I'll see if we have it in stock" (reader, they didn't, and I ended up ordering online).

Like pps, I've learnt I need to be fussy about shoes and spend the money if I don't want to end up with issues. I prefer lace up for support, cannot do high heels but don't like total flatties either. 4cm is my absolute sweet spot but surprisingly hard to find. Anyway I rate Gabor and they have some nice low heel lace up boots. Some things do come in a 9, and they have wide fitting options.

And these were the Clarks shoes, just simple brogues really, which also come in 9s. I got them in a wide fitting and they've been really comfy so far.

https://www.clarks.com/en-gb/lauryl-lace/26184358-p

Oh, and I don't have an oodie but last winter I bought a cozy longline cotton sweatshirt from Tu. It was always meant to be big but now I could fit two of me in there.😅

Boat Womens Ankle Boots

The Gabor Boat ladies' ankle boots opt for a slimline design with a lace up design and metallic eyelet finishing's. Fasten the boots with inside zippers and enjoy lightweight linings to let air circulate. Underfoot, heels sit at 3cm's high with the Gab...

GiveMeWordGames · 13/09/2025 09:27

@RobinEllacotStrike I really like the look of those Boody bras but my only reservations is it talks about a wide shoulder strap but in the pictures it doesn't look that wide to me. I tend to wear non-wired sports bras with boulder-holder width straps for being out and about but they're not cheap and like a lot of you I'm a bit stuck in between back sizes right now. It's frustrating. I definitely no longer a 40, an old 38 feels slightly loose too but I'm not at a 36 yet. I was somewhere around a F-G cup but I'm sure that's not right either now.

UnimaginableWindBird · 13/09/2025 09:40

I really like Snag everyday ribbed bras, which feel extremely comfortable and cope with a reasonable amount of change in shape and size.

mince3point14159265 · 13/09/2025 09:46

Hope you have a fab weekend with your friend @MooBaggageand good luck for the walk tomorrow 🤞

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/09/2025 11:20

@GiveMeWordGamesthe boody I am wearing has straps approx 1.5 cm. Wide enough to be comfy but not too wide.

@UnimaginableWindBirdyes those snag bras are very good. I was wearing them pre MJ as my more supportive option. They are very thoughtfully made & well engineered. They also retained their shape well.

Evenstar · 13/09/2025 11:31

@RobinEllacotStrike is the elastic very strong on the Snag ones? I have fibromyalgia and had to return a shapewear garment as my hands weren’t strong enough to get it on.

I have been wearing Oddballs bralettes for several years as I wasn’t large anyway and was advised not to wear bras regularly by the consultant at the breast clinic after being referred for breast pain and slight lumpiness.

I wore a bra last weekend as I was at a black tie party and realised that with my shape having changed I really need more lift and separation. Unlike most people who seem to be speaking about an upper B belly, I have really slimmed down at the top and my boobs are falling on top of my big lower tummy.

WeAllHaveWings · 13/09/2025 13:41

Saturday weigh in and a nice 2lb loss👍

End of week - 63 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 6 x 3.08mg)

SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 12st 09lbs BMI 26.5
TW - 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 (healthy!)

Total loss - 8st 10lbs (122lbs), 40.8%

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) - 1,2,1,3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2 (avg 1.1)
(excluding first week outlier)

Still on a boot hunt, but got very bored of it last night. I've never really enjoyed shopping, I wish someone would just deliver a load of perfect clothes/footwear to me! (and declutter of the stuff I have at home already!) I am in work most of next week making deliveries difficult so might just flop around in my roomy boots and leave it until next weekend to order something.

Ooh, I spent the whole summer in a pair of f mode sandals, so comfy. Might have to try the boots!

I too am a size 42, and have only in the last few years figured out I have to check whether a particular brand list their 8 as a 41 or 42 because a 41 will absolutely not fit me.

On the compliments thing - to me it’s because sometimes I take a comment on my weight as a backhanded compliment. Someone can make a perfectly nice comment and what I hear is “Oh thank god you’ve lost some weight you looked so awful before” But I know that is 90% of the time a me issue not a them issue. I just say “thank you” (because I know that it is meant well) and move straight on to something else.

Arglefraster · 13/09/2025 14:26

Oh I do love the look of lots of these bras especially the bamboo 😍 but sadly the unstructured comfy ones are only good for in the house (I'm currently 36JJ - delighted to be down from a 38L!))
the recommendation for the M&S Cleo above is endorsed by my tiny but F cup daughter too - she has them in all sorts of colours 😃

@Questions1234for me if anyone says anything my brain hears the reverse - you've lost weight = good god I noticed you were so much fatter before
I also would never comment on anyone else as i consider it very rude.
Happily I've had very few comments as I hate anyone noticing anything about me but my lovely MIL has commented /asked (she gets upset if no one comments when she loses weight so I know she means it kindly) and I just muttered about eating lots of cottage cheese 😂

My go to for wide boots is heavenly feet. They do comfy fake doc martens and they are vegan too (not that I am but might as well save some animals as I love the boots! I am a size 8. The very wide fitting I find too wide. Strangely their trainers weren't wide enough but the ankle boots are great!

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/09/2025 17:27

It’s my birthday and I’m 42 years young today. DH and DD have been spoiling me all day, DD made me a delicious Greek chicken salad for lunch with homemade Tzatziki, then I went and got pummelled by the masseuse so my shoulders and neck have been tenderised like a fancy steak.

@Evenstar the Snag bras are very soft but also sturdy. They are quite engineered in the sense that they are constructed out of several pireces of fabric & shaped, but they are also super soft & comfortable.
Surprisingly supportive considering there are no wires & they have the classic 3 hook & eye closuer so very easy to get on & off. You don't need to struggle with any firmness or tension. Its a very clever design.

@InfoSecInTheCity Happy birthday to you, you wonderful woman. Looks like you are being treated very well - enjoy your day x 💐

@MooBaggage Fit Flop is one of my go too brands and I forgot aboput them as well. I have lots of their sandals & I picked up some pale tan chelsea boots very cheap in the sale a few years ago & then I never wore then. Despite being super super comfy the colour was not a good look for me. So I've guilded them withn that fake gold leaf and I now have a pair of gold winter party/dancing boots. Goodness knows where I will wear them.

@WeAllHaveWings I keep thinking before I rush into clothes buying now would be the perfect time for a style revamp or at least some thoughtful/purposeful decisions, if not a capsule wardrobe. In reality I'm now crazy busy with work/volunteering until mid October and I'm totally focused on warmth re clothes. Inspired by a Style & Beatury thead I bougth a 2nd hand book called "More Dash Than Cash" by Vogue - Its a fab book I owned in the 80's in NZ & its all about developing your style and putting together your wardrobe - I'll read that later in October & then get shopping when I have more bandwidth. The kitchen roll effect is strong now so there isn't much point in buying a lot of clothes until I get to goal whatever that is. I have enough to get me buy - in fact I have way too many clothes from sized 14 to 20 in play. Its ridiculous
