meatyryvita · 25/09/2025 07:27

Congratulations @BreezyPeer ! You must feel amazing!

The talk of advent calendars has me giggling as this old (not so) fat ass has bought a Bonne Mamam jam one 😂

BreezyPeer · 25/09/2025 07:35

@BlueLimes thank you for the calendar advice. I have started an advent calendar for 16 year old DS about 3/4 years ago in one of those cloth pocket ones where you put something each day. Worked well for a couple of years with fun sized chocolate bars, moam sweets and some small presents but with the football scholarship and the brace unhealthy food most days sounds like a bad idea 😅
The grooming calendar would probably be a good idea and not a lot more expensive either!
@meatyryvita 25 is an amazing barrier to break however you get there! Hope you are feeling better soon!
@Jins have a lovely day with your friend in the sunshine 🌞
Have a great day everyone. I have a rare office day. Have bought new size 12 trousers 👖 in navy for the occasion! Can't remember the last time I was happy to dress for work.

BlueLimes · 25/09/2025 07:47

Sorry you are not well @meatyryvita but amazing on the 25!! Tbh jam sounds nice!!
yay also to @BreezyPeer you are doing so well. Homemade advents are fab- am sure the grooming one would be well received.

MJalltheway · 25/09/2025 08:00

Congrats on a normal BMI @meatyryvita ! And happy birthday to mini ryvita.
I'm always the one who forgets stuff on holiday, eternally grateful for my hyper-organised DH who packs spares of everything! Have a lovely day in Gozo @Jins

Eldest nipped back from uni for an evening yesterday, finding year 2 a bit overwhelming already (on day 3!). She's doing a very intense course and needed a bit of home comfort. We had a takeaway and I had very calorific pasta AND a piece of garlic bread so fully expecting an increase in weight today.
Losses have definitely stalled/slowed over the last month. I'm debating whether to go up a dose tomorrow or just stick with 10 and take as long as it takes to get to goal (4.5 kg to go).

myladyjane · 25/09/2025 08:27

@meatyryvita @BreezyPeer very well done.

happy birthday mini ryvita

i am on an advent calendar roll - look fantastic one looks good.

weirdly after having limited side effects this week, they kicked in hugely yesterday/today as has my suppression. Today is jab day so a bit weird! Moving up to 55 clicks of a 10mg pen I think.

Polkadotdash · 25/09/2025 08:35

@meatyryvita Bonne Maman do an advent calendar???? I need to check this out. Where did you find it?

Aimingdown · 25/09/2025 08:38

Great work @BreezyPeer, I think I have roughly the same kgs to final goal. I’m finding the last bit slow but satisfying

I must be on their mailing list as they sent me a message about it about a month ago. I know that Ocado sell them too.

Zempy · 25/09/2025 09:21

I hope you feel better soon @meatyryvita.

I woke feeling dreadful, but it’s totally self inflicted. I rarely drink alcohol nowadays, and four vodkas was enough to give me a hangover!!!

Well done @BreezyPeer!!!

I am perplexed at my waistline. I got some new (Vinted) size 10 trousers and I tried them on when I was exactly 9 stone. They fit perfectly. I am now 8:11 and they are way too big around the waist! It’s so weird, and slightly annoying as I would prefer to lose from my upper torso. I still have a fat back and G cup boobs. 😡

Business lunch out today which I will enjoy. I think it will take me a while to get used to maintenance. I got an email from Oushk saying I don’t need a maintenance video call. I can just go online and select one of their plans.

PenelopePoweringOn · 25/09/2025 09:48

Morning everyone, biggest dose ever here of 6.825 as that’s what was left in my pen. Fingers crossed for it being ok for me. On my phone so limited response, it’s so slow for me since the change!

Well done @BreezyPeer , tremendous 🤩.

Nice to see you @myladyjane , I hope you’re feeling ok/more chipper.

Not sure what I’m going to do today, so much to do, work, admin,Vinted 🙃, house stuff, coursework but I’m giving myself a bit of latitude to do nothing if that’s what I want to do!

HeidiLite · 25/09/2025 09:55

yes measurements are behaving oddly, I have not lost weight the past 2 months but my jeans are all too loose around the waist.

For calendars, DH and I usually also get a little alcohol calendar, we like rum ones. But not sure this year, as we are not dinking that much any more.

Put on a kilo during the couple of days of business travel. There's just too much food and eating and coffee breaks. And can't simply go out for organised dinner and lunch and not eat anything. Not upset about it, it will go off again when I'm back home and eating like I'm used to. But it's quite remarkable how heavy and bloated I feel after eating..well, normally. Like other people. Had a glass of wine, and a small piece of cake during coffee break, but certainly didn't overeat or anything.

2025istheyeari · 25/09/2025 11:58

🎉🎉🎉 @BreezyPeer congratulations!! Congratulations @meatyryvita too! Hope you feel better soon and that mini meaty has an amazing birthday celebration!!

I’ve heard the bone mamma advent is great, lots of different flavours to try. Tempted for my DH actually who loves jam!!

I’ve looked at the grooming ones for ds but think I’m going to do a build your own one with a mix, have already got a few skincare things and will add in treats I think!!

Enjoy Gozo Jins, sounds wonderful!

@zempy glad you had fun, hope you feel better and enjoy lunch.

I listened to the podcast @DGonMJ, my take was that they’re not really telling us anything new, other than the fact that people need support if coming off cold turkey, agree with @meatyryvita its only 1 person and they’d only been off it for 3 weeks. Interesting to see if more info comes out over the next few months, I’m still planning on keeping going longer term if I can.

@HeidiLite lovely! Agree, a kg will go super quickly, this is what maintenance is all
about.

@PenelopePoweringOn hope you have no side effects, enjoy your day whatever you decide to do.

@MJalltheway i found that the last few kg have been painfully slow in 10 too but I’m hanging in there!! This is my last 10mg before moving down to 7.5.

BreezyPeer · 25/09/2025 13:31

@2025istheyeari I am wondering about a home made calendar again. I hadn't really thought of skincare until now but that's a great idea! Need to start collecting some bits.

cloudjumper · 25/09/2025 15:07

Can't believe that we're talking about advent calendars in September! 😂
I think about getting one for myself each year, but I baulk at the prices every time... I also spend a disproportionate amount of time and money each year on the DC's homemade calendars, so that's another reason that I don't get one for myself.

I need belts! My favourite jeans are now sliding down, I have to hoist every so often.

Also, I think I've had my first proper Vinted fail. New trousers - they are in great condition, as new, but they absolutely stink 😷 Think mouldy loft or basement. I've already washed them once, but they still reek. Unfortunately, the smell wasn't very obvious when I opened the parcel and checked them, and I've accepted the shipment 😝They are currently outside on the line in the sun, and I'll need to wash them again. Hmph.

HeidiLite · 25/09/2025 15:14

@cloudjumper try adding some vinegar as fabric softener, will kill mould

PenelopePoweringOn · 25/09/2025 15:49

I quite like a homemade calendar too. Pre covid I used to fill a fabric one that I bought in Germany about 25 years ago. DD has currently vetoed the LF one - very sensible, we are away for ten days in December. Not sure if I will be swayed 😅.

Nice day here, I've been to the driving range 🏌in the sun, it was lovely. Done a bit of life admin and put a beef and red wine casserole in the oven. Managed to get all my outdoor cushions dry over the last two days as they were very wet after the recent weather which got to them before I did!

Polkadotdash · 25/09/2025 16:22

I’ve found the Bonne Maman one and it’s on the list to buy on payday. I love jam but more importantly I love the tiny little jars!!
I tried to do a make your own calendar for my kids when they were much younger. My middle child has ADHD and the chocolate ones in the morning used to fire him up like a rocket. So I thought I would make one with non edible little treats and toys. First morning it was out I came down to find that the boys had emptied the entire 24 pockets and were squabbling over who got which matchbox car etc. No waiting and opening one pocket per day for them! So I switched to boring old fashioned picture ones for a couple of years.

MJalltheway · 25/09/2025 22:05

I made a fabric advent calendar about 10 years ago and my kids had to share chocolates from that 😂 they buy their own calendars now!
I like an advent candle. And I've got a beautiful wooden advent countdown scene which is lots of frosty trees and you move a wooden counter along it. I've never really been in to advent calendars.
I've found I just cannot stop eating today! Don't know why. First time since starting that I've really had the nibbles. I think I will up the dose a little for the jab tomorrow and just see how that goes.
I live near an outlet village and they have a discount weekend on this weekend so I'm planning a trip to see if i can find another couple of jumpers, I'm so cold at work!

discov · 25/09/2025 22:27

I recently told dd about when I was a kid and my advent calendar just had pictures behind the windows and nothing else! The fun was seeing what picture we got that day. No chocolate or anything. She was horrified 😂

DGonMJ · 25/09/2025 22:54

Agree @2025istheyeari that the podcast didn’t tell us anything new. I think someone on there said we won’t really know the long term effects on this private-prescription-paying cohort’s weight loss/gain until a couple of years.

@Thelittlestranger I totally get you, I do think WLI gives us the space to set good habits, and you should absolutely have confidence in yourself to maintain. I read Atomic Habits a few years ago, it was all about small nudges to make healthy decisions easier.

But it’s also true that life can sometimes get in the way of good intentions, I know it did for me. And our human body’s preference for efficient energy conservation means reducing movement and storing calories during times of stress and hardship. And if GLPs can be on hand to course correct then I think that’s ok too.

Anyway, that’s my hot take! 😊
Based on my unscientific research sample of one.

In other news - I’m so close to buying DS1 that LF Grooming Advent thanks to you ladies! But then what do I get DS2 13yo that’s comparable when he’s not into skincare or Bonne Maman jam?

DGonMJ · 25/09/2025 23:21

My cousin, in the US, who I met up with last week, was so impressed with all the benefits I’d talked about on MJ that she asked her doctor to put her on a small dose and it’s totally cured her meno hot flashes! Amazing stuff.

myladyjane · 26/09/2025 02:23

@DGonMJ is there a Lego one he might like? One year I got dh a jellybean one.

I cannot sleep. Well I can but in 20 minute patches apparently. Off to find another podcast or something

Yes, the bit about our body’s natural preference to store fat/ fight or flight was a good reminder. I know stress is the time my eating goes out of the window. I’ve got atomic habits, haven’t managed to read it yet but thanks for the reminder, I’m going to use some of the time I have at the mo to make a start!

Re advents, yes agree, some of the Lego ones are amazing if he’s still into Lego. Other ones I’ve seen/ heard about- Pokémon, brain teasers, there’s a degusta one if he’s into food/ cooking ( never had it but some people love it!), Tony chocolonely with a few extra individual wrapped things for certain days as additional treats to up the money so you’ve spent the same? So many different ones depending on what he likes.

@myladyjane I hear you on sleep, I had an awful night too, lots whirring round in my brain, doing my head in! Hope you managed to get a decent night in the end.

Having a bit of a weird week here, I instigated my redundancy, it was the right thing, I loved where I worked but the role wasn’t right. I started job hunting at the beginning of this month and have, as you know had a few interviews, currently at final stage for 2, and 2 more processes about to start, so doing well, but this week it’s become all consuming and I’m putting so much pressure on myself. I’ve done no exercise other than walking and I’m feeling exhausted. I didn’t eat well yesterday ( see above re stress!!), so I’m having a word with myself today! I’m having my nails done this morning and I’m going to go for a long walk. We’re off to Skipton this weekend to see my mum. We’ll also see my sister and nephew so that’ll be lovely, maybe just what I need! Sorry, that was a lot wasn’t it 🫣.

Have a great day everyone, and lovely weekend when it comes.
