Welcome to thread lucky number 13!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I also went longer without jabbing, but by mistake! I usually do it on Saturday but I completely forgot even though I was reading this thread. I only realised on Wednesday. So I did it last night, my first golden dose but found it tricky. What's the secret to not ending up with air bubbles in the syringe?

Similarly yesterday I ate an enormous almond croissant, most of a burrito, a millionaire's shortbread (free from burrito place), and then veg stew for dinner. Not totally out of control but large quantities! Hopefully appetite goes back down again now.

I also would like to know the secret about not getting any air bubbles!
Last time there was a bubble right at the bottom and no amount of tapping would move it, so I had to push it back into the pen. Then when I pulled it back out again I primed and swore there were some at the top so more priming and lost most of the dose so couldn’t take it!

I did my first golden dose last week. For me, it was a case of just drawing and pushing back in until the bubble went and it probably took 4 push/pulls to get the correct dose. It takes a wee bit of time to sort.

It’ll be the croissant that set off the chain reaction to crave more carbs.. boring but true. And I bloody love an Almond Croissant 😢

You sounds like me.. free food you say? I’m in even if I didn’t want it or desire it. I blame a 70’s/80’s childhood and a convent school education with nuns berating anyone leaving uneaten food 😂

Reader, I bought the shoes..I'll worry about offsetting the cost once I've seen them up and close 😂

Yes!!! Oh hurrah! I'm so glad you bought them. Honestly, life is too short. They're gorgeous and such a classic style you'll wear them for years. I love a good shoe.

So I've skipped last week's injection... Now on day 10 since last jab.

I'm really hungry for junk food! Had 2 pastries today, a proper lunch and dinner, an after lunch chocolate and coffee break, and a small bag of sweets with my dinner!

Sometimes I feel like my body just can't handle any UPFs without immediately wanting more and more. Obvs we know they contain addictive substances, but this is just plain ridiculous. I've been more relaxed about eating UPFs last 7 days or so, and today, finishing my bag of wine gums, was the first time in ages where I felt like I'd 'lost control' and 'couldn't stop eating'.

Decided I'll be brave and sit the rest of the week out, no jab, eat real, proper foods, and see how these cravings change, if they go or not. Bought a supply of decent protein rich foods. Maybe it's just a one-off weird day.

Before someone says, no, not period related 😇

UPF’s are designed to be more ish. You’re completely normal. If you haven’t prepped or planned food in advance old habits will kick in.. fast food is instant gratification.I had a bag of chips last week because I cba to cook when DH was away. Sadly the only way to stop it is to not engage. Eat a couple of wine gums slowly and mindfully to satisfy your curiosity/craving and then either throw the rest away ( completely alien concept to me btw) or choose to eat the rest over the week. And yes, low carb, high protein will curb this but you need your first meal to be this type.

You’ve got this 💪

That was me last week, although it did turn out to be period related (I think...perimenopause + mirena make for a pitiful period, but the hormonal bloating and cravings seem to have reappeared as I've lost more weight oddly). Maybe it's just autumn and your body wanting to hibernate from rubbish weather? Or just a blip.

Oooh. I love a bit of vicarious shopping! I was about to urge you to buy them. Anyway it doesn’t count as spending money until you’ve tried them on and decided whether to keep them or not.

My thoughts exactly 😂

Oh no! We seem to exchanging health issues! My dodgy back is largely quiet at the moment but I’ve literally just developed a mouth ulcer today (first time in a few years). Might be related to dodgy throat god only knows. I had random toothache last week which has buggered off but I did make a dentist appointment in case, decided to keep it so will see what they make of it tomorrow.

Glad your mouth is doing better though, that is interesting and must be a relief. Do you think you have to stick to that long term?

It is a menopause symptom sometimes so don’t rule that out. Everyone reacts differently but tissue quality does deteriorate everywhere unfortunately… Hope the dentist goes well!

A while ago I posted about my dry mouth issues and ulcers here. Still not completely sure what is causing it but after some more dr google research I think it's burning mouth syndrome. I've given up caffeine and started drinking additional pints of water as well as rinsing my mouth after brushing (I usually let the toothpaste sink in. Dh says I'm weird then looked it up and I am right). It's finally settling. Can't brave tomatoes yet but I'm much more comfortable. Now my lower back is playing up 😱

You poor thing. My friend had the mouth issues during menopause - a burning/sore tongue and constant ulcers. She found it very debilitating so I do sympathise with your issues 💐

The other way of looking at it is that the cost is roughly 2 Mounjaro pens, so just taper off sooner and there’s your shoe money!

Ahh yes. I think I have a cunning plan to finance them but as far as DH is concerned… I may well have won them in an instagram competition or bought them nearly new on vinted 😂 I don’t know why I feel so guilty about buying them tbh… I know I’ll love them and will wear them to death.

reading on catch up this was quite the journey!

as ever finding the glamour on this thread jaw dropping, my big clothing decisions are
about how wind & water proof things might be🙈

ETA cost per use is your friend here as you thought you'd wear them ten times by your birthday 😉

Edited

i’ve never really considered the practicality of any clothing tbh. I only had timberlands when they were a 90’s trend (still hot then) ditto hunters wellies (school fireworks display necessity) . I didn’t even wear jeans at Uni (unless you count denim hot pants) 😂 I am always overdressed.

But deffo cost per wear is something I do look at…!

I used to only buy accessories as ‘y feet don’t put weight on and not does my handbag shoulder/hand/wrist 😂 now I’m buying actual clothes (even though they’re not mad expensive) I think it’s because I feel very profligate treating myself even though I’ve had decades of putting family needs first. It’s a weird mindset I think.

Yep I ended up with 0.5ml not the 0.6, and found the needle much harder to get in too! But it's just over 10mg rather than 12.5mg so that's fine.

Nothing wrong with treating yourself if you can afford it and have places to wear the stuff. I like your attitude to clothes! I do buy nice things and with my corporate job and work events I have opportunities to wear them, but I'm relatively practical and won't eg wear uncomfortable shoes. I'm also put off buying light block colours as I know I'll spill something and ruin the item!

It's a treadmill getting on top of everything! Hoping I can at least reintroduce some caffeine. I miss having a cuppa!

@SerenePeer @Mounjaropen thanks for the encouragement!

Whenever I’ve dieted in the past and been successful and felt good, the only thing that’s really worked is cutting UPFs completely. So I’ve even lost weight having meals such as shepherds pie or Sunday roast, English breakfast regularly, but cooking them fully from scratch at home.

When I do that, my friends say ‘you’ve gone too far, everything in moderation’ but it really doesn’t seem to work for me. It’s comparable to saying to a recovering alcoholic or heroin addict ‘oh just a little bit won’t hurt’. The general population don’t seem to be able to relate to it that way though.

On MJ I was fine having the odd small UPF snack, such as those 2 wine gums you describe, without the addictive effects, but I’m not sure I can do it off it! I probably need to be UPF free. Let’s see how this week goes.

When I started hearing talks from people like Giles Yeo about UPF effects, addiction and chemical reactions in the body, it was a lightbulb moment… ‘Finally, I’m not crazy, what my body is experiencing is real!’

Interesting what you say about convent schools… have you always struggled with your weight? I also had a few ‘you must clear your plate’ people in my life as a child. But also, my mum worked in a job where she’d be gifted several huge expensive chocolate boxes every day. So as a young child eating 200-300g Lindt in one sitting was a very regular occurrence and I can imagine it has led to all sorts! That’s why I’m so passionate about parents focusing on young children’s food behaviours and not feeding them UPFs. I’d say it’s on par with education in terms of their future life outcomes, especially physical and mental health.

AlwaysTimeForWine · 18/09/2025 14:35

Hello all. I’m dreadful at posting and keeping up with everyone - sorry. So good to hear how you’re all getting on.

I’ve finally reached my target, have lost 4st 12lbs and my BMI has gone from 33.3 to 23.8. I was a size 18 and am now a 12-14. 🎉

I’ve dropped myself down to 2.5mg this week, and extended it to 9 days. I have a plan to stay on 2.5mg for a while, slowly extended to 14 weeks between jabs, and then seeing if I can drop to 2mg.

I definitely feel more hungry already and less full. I am not loving the food noise coming back in. But I have dropped from 6mg to 2.5mg in the space of 4 weeks so am coming down quite quickly. The new costs are so high that I can justify it anymore and need the pens to last longer!!

It’s lovely to be slimmer and healthier but I definitely look older. I can see my ribs on the front of my chest which is odd, considering my hips still have some padding 😂 I have definitely managed to drop body fat while keeping some muscle so I am much bonier - even at a BMI of 24 ish. I don’t think I could go any lighter and still look healthy. 😳

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 18/09/2025 15:15

I agree @LindtCurves . Now I can really sense what Giles Yeo and Van Tulleken really mean about UPFs. I really am an addict. I can not see myself ever coming of MJ/Wegovy/whatever but I would like to be on the lowest possible dose. I love an almond croissant @Mounjaropen but I fear that’s almost slippery slope time for me. Having worked out how much I have already spent on MJ I can’t go backwards

i have stabilised after my all inclusive holiday at the beginning of the month. Lost the pounds I put on but need to chip away at the last stone and a half. Did Week 1 Run 2 today - just need to up my activity a bit. I would love to be a healthy BMI for the November Mounjiversary - not many weeks to go.

I'm very like this too @lindtcurves - once the floodgates have been opened, even a crack, it's game over (pre MJ that is). My DH is a bit the same too but he can happily pull the plug on it and go cold turkey. I never could. I always felt deprived, even though I knew eating UPF made me feel awful.

I think a massive mindset shift for me has been the realisation that 80/20 ratio of healthy/less healthy that normal people enjoy is something I can do on MJ. I could never wrap my head around it pre-MJ. I was either knee deep in chocolate and pastries or on some mad juice cleanse. So any chance to indulge in 'treat' food used to end up in a binge. I remember being astonished watching my friend eat her lunch when we were hill walking. She had a lovely roast chicken salad sandwich, 3 blueberries, 5 grapes and a couple of squares of chocolate. For me it would have to be the whole punnet of blueberries and the whole bunch of grapes and a family sized bar of chocolate, otherwise what was the point?
