Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Kind of you to say so. Incidentally, on the subject of my DW, she’s just mentioned that she’s been recommended to try polynucleotide treatment and I thought, well - I know where to get some helpful views on that idea. Any guidance anyone?

Ever since I read the thread on MN about polynucleotide treatments going wrong, I’ve been put off tbh. That said, a reputable medically trained dermatologist is very different to a beauty salon offering such treatments…so do the research before committing anywhere would be my advice…

Thanks @Goldleafcat , @lovealongbath and @Mounjaropen - very helpful advice. Will pass it on any feedback on experience if she goes ahead.

But the BBC understands the highest dose will now be sold to suppliers for £247.50.

Well well well! I don’t mind a mark - up as obviously pharmacies have costs. But some pharmacies deal in high volumes are will be minting it at the published prices that people are sharing. Let’s say 15 mg is at cost 248 those pharmacies selling at over 300 are making 52 per pen sold!

fifth/bonus/golden jabs all round I say until Evil Eye reduce the liquid volume in the pen

RayonSunrise · 28/08/2025 22:03

I agree, @Pumpkinforever- that’s a massive margin. I wonder how many customers they will lose before they rein it in?!

Pumpkinforever · 28/08/2025 23:06

Yep I am with you @KentishMama my stockpile is 5!

Both evil eye and the pharmacies are taking advantage of the golden goose

Oh guys, help me! I did a 30 mins Caroline Girvans full body dumbbell workout yesterday and now I cannot walk and fear I may be dead.

I'd just heard her mentioned so many times as the gold standard for at-home strength training workouts but I think I went too hard too soon and the DOMS are real. I did more research on her afterwards and the words 'ridiculously hard' were mentioned more times than seemed feasible. It felt fine when I was doing it but now, oh the pain.

Does anyone have any recommendations for YouTube weights workouts that are perhaps a gentler start? I enjoyed the CG very much during but I think I need to build back up to her. I know to expect some soreness but I literally can't bend my legs. I'm walking like an arthritic Labrador right now.

Oh no!

I don’t think it’s either the length or difficulty of the workout, but more likely the length of the warm up/cool down that will make the difference moving forward for you. If you haven’t done any form of weights, you will experience some muscle soreness as you start but you can mitigate that with either the use of a theragun or foam roller to try and relieve the tension in the muscles. It’ll hurt like a bastard at first, but will lessen. Or go for a deep tissue massage and get the therapist to tackle the lactic acid build up. When I started back in November I did do all of these things. For now, I’d use ice packs and ibuprofen to reduce any swelling and then try and vary the workouts moving forward - so mix it up with maybe 15min core then the next time 20mins upper body, the next 25mins lower body etc. leave two days clear recovery (I choose the weekends for this). And add in some form of yoga or Pilates to lengthen the muscles too.

Edited to say: A 30 min work out should have at least 4-5 mins of warm up and 4-5 mins of cool down. If you have a stationary bike or treadmill a 5 min session on one of those after a weights session will help the blood flow and flush out toxins.

Well done for getting started, It will get easier. 💪

So helpful, thank you. Yeah, I did some yoga and took a walk to cool down afterwards but didn't do a warm up, just impulsively started so this is all on me! Lesson learned.

Still hurts a bit today but much looser and not unbearable anymore - kind of to the level I've experienced before. Thank God!

Grin This is exactly what happens to me every time I do Caroline Girvan. I’ve never stuck it out long enough to see if it goes away if you keep trying. I hear you about being unable to walk afterwards!

MagnoliaTreePetals · 29/08/2025 09:42

You are definitely not alone @BobberleeBeaner . Over the past month or so I have been thinking more carefully about my deep rooted issues with food and how the way I was taught to perceive myself as always overweight, and therefore 'not good enough', resulted in me emotionally self medicating with food for 35 years.
I do have a very close relationship with my mother, and I love her dearly, but her constantly putting me on diets and chiding me since I was 9 must have had a huge impact on my psyche. When I was aged 14 She even took me to a hypnotherapist so he could hypnotise me into avoiding food!
I am sure a lot of this came from her mother who put pressure on her to do all this.
Last week, we were chatting and she was genuinely and kindly saying how well I was looking. Then she said 'of course I have never put pressure on you to lose weight, nor criticised you when you were overweight'.
I had a split second decision; do I say 'What the Feck, how can you possible say that!' or do I just laugh at her 80 year old revisionist brain and move on.
I chose the latter of course. We have a lovely loving relationship and I'm not going to risk losing that over something she has forgotten about and cannot possibly change.

However, I need to change my ways mentally, and to do that I think it is good to come to terms with how I was treated when I was younger. There is no point being bitter, blaming her, blaming myself or anyone else, I think it's a case of understanding, acceptance, developing new coping strategies and moving on. Easier said than done, but the future is more important than the past.

Well, that's my daily therapy done for the day!🙂
Happy Friday everyone.😀

Cantbesure · 29/08/2025 09:45

@PresidentBarklett glad to hear you can move again today. My body strength is really lacking and I know it’s something I need to work on. I’m doing great with my running, just booked on to another 10K, but need to build in some decent strength training. I’m doing planks and knee push ups every day. Today I managed 6 normal push ups, but I can’t go all the way to the floor unless I’m on my knees.

check in for me - tomorrow is 10 weeks off MJ. My weight and scale measurements are exactly the same today as they were the day of my last jab. I have gone up and down a bit but I have definitely maintained. BMI 22.9; muscle rate 68.8%; fat 26.7%. My focus is to stay this weight and improve my muscle:fat. When I look at my fat percentage at the start of this journey it was 36.5%.

So it’s only been 10 weeks but so far I can say we can maintain off the jabs.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 29/08/2025 09:48

Mounjaropen · 28/08/2025 14:28

Congratulations! This post makes me so happy and thrilled for you!

Thanks for sharing the plan from your consultant - I think because no one really knows how to migrate down/stop/maintain, it'll be trial and error for most people and this is a really interesting approach. Has the consultant said about how to manage making a pen last longer than a month once open? Is keeping it in the fridge all of the time enough?

This month's contact with my consultant was by email, just to give him a sit' rep' and order the next pen, but next month I will have a telephone consultation again and am going to ask him exactly this.
At the moment spreading out the pen gradually will take me to 35 days, which I am not fussed about.
But aiming for an eventual gap of 2 weeks is a whole different ball-game.
I will of course report back.

Oh Goodness, poor you. I hope you are feeling a bit more back to normal.

When I started this journey and wanted some gentle weight exercises I googled 'weight exercises for elderly people'. I am only mid 50's!
I found a lovely exercise lady on Youtube and started there. It was a good gentle way to get into a daily habit. My weights are now heavier, reps have increased and the exercises are more challenging, but it was a good place for me to start.

And the ‘recollections may differ’ could also apply. It’s very possible that a comment made nearly fifty years ago was made with a positive intention but was interpreted by my teenage brain as criticism. Either way, like you @MagnoliaTreePetals I had a good relationship with my late mum. Her upbringing was extremely tough, money was very tight and her ambitions thwarted by a need to contribute to the household. She was flawed but no more or less than me. My Friday therapy done, too!!
Off for lunch with some old pals today- haven’t seen them for several months so they might notice a difference 😉. Happy weekend everyone.

Weighing in.

CW:14st 11lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 4st 12lb

Another two pounds off and hoping that I might hit 5 stone off my next week, with a fair wind and a big poo.

My tummy pains are still there. Still not especially painful but still not fucking off. One of the poo tests is back and it's not bowel cancer, which is reassuring as I always have the fear that I've got it. Waiting for the second one that's testing for chrones and then I'll be heading back to the GP again to see if anyone knows what it actually is.

Happy Friday all! Many reasons to be cheerful! Medexpress finally released one of my orders, so at least I have one more pen at the lower price, although looks like the price rises won’t be as bad. I might still move to Wegovy after Christmas, but will see how bad the rise is.

After a plateau since end of June, I finally dropped 2 lbs today and finally crept into the 13st bracket at 13st 13.75lbs, I’ll take it!! One more pound to reach 5st loss, so I’m really trying to focus this week!!! At least I’m back in a routine with the kids back at school.

Starting to think about my goal, which at my current slow rate is still a way off. I might readjust it to below 12st, but will see how I look and judge by my clothes and face.

SW: 18st 12.75lbs
CW: 13st 13.75lbs
GW: 12st 7lbs

DarkForces · 29/08/2025 11:34

Stats:
SW: 14 stone ish
CW: 9.4.2 stone
BMI: 23.1
GW: 9.0 stone

My current fave stat is that my visceral fat has reduced from 14 to 6, which is excellent! Reduced my risk of all kinds of nasty stuff.

Cantbesure · 29/08/2025 12:00

@PinkArt that’s good news. Fingers crossed they get to the bottom of it soon. I’m going for my 4th blood test in a couple of weeks! My white blood cell count is still above the normal range but has started to come down. I still get stomach pains if I don’t take omeprazole but I don’t know why.

Oceangrey · 29/08/2025 12:32

On the workout question, I just search Dumbbell Workout on YouTube and there are loads. I did a bodypump class recently after not exercising a while and was in extreme pain for about 4 days after so am very sympathetic!
