The price change is a big blow, I was made redundant in June and feel bad enough spending this much on myself without the extra. I only ordered 10 days ago so will have to hold off for now but I do have a pen in hand.

I am away from home for a couple of weeks at a family house. Not enjoying not having my scales, I am a daily weigher. There are scales here but I stupidly didn’t weigh when we arrived to get a comparison. They are today showing 5lb higher than the home scales a week ago and am trying not to let that send me into a spiral! They are very likely just measuring differently!

Dosewise I had dropped to 2.5mg after my first disastrous attempt to get to 5mg. From there have done 2 weeks at 3.75mg, not sure when to try and inch up towards 5 again. Food wise I am definitely eating worse as craving things that were suppressed. No idea if still losing. Due to jab later and still undecided whether to stick or go for 4mg or something!

At the moment, it's looking like Medino have hiked up all their prices.

A 15mg pen is about £50 dearer than it was last night.

That's okay.

But is it going to go up any further? I haven't had an email from them about this yet.

I’m quite disappointed that Medino haven’t been in touch at all…

Janie934 · 15/08/2025 17:42

I originally started with wegovy in summer 2023 and not long after there was lots in the news about shortages and providers were increasing prices and keeping you on the lower doses for longer. I decided to stop as I was finding it too stressful to navigate and it felt ridiculous to pay more to stay on a lower dose than I'd expected.

Over the next year my weight crept up by another few stone. Until I decided to start Mounjaro in summer 2024.

I've now lost nearly 7 stone and in hindsight I should have just stuck it out in 2023 - had i done so I might have been approaching goal now.

So whilst the price increases suck and everyone's ability to absorb additional costs will differ, I'd encourage everyone not to panic and wait to see what happens to prices over the next few weeks and if necessary consider switching to wegovy.

Let's face it everyone on this thread knew they were in it for the long haul. We just need to ride it out and focus on the end goal.

I haven’t heard anything from Zava as yet about their plans. Though I did notice that the Asda price point has reduced (Zava fulfil their orders) and they’re now looking the cheaper option for me than Zava themselves. Very weird.

What’s the price difference currently? I swapped from Asda to Zava as they were quite a bit cheaper. Zava have approved my order so that’s good. I had an email from the Family Chemist saying they were now out of stock. It would be good to hear from Zava re this.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 15/08/2025 18:09

I tend to run with a pen on the go and one in reserve to allow for any postal or dispatch delays - so I had about 6 weeks supply in reserve anyway, but after seeing some muppets on other threads buying multiple pens from loads of different pharmacies - I've ordered a second pen in reserve just to try to ride out the supply lunacy while all of this settles down a bit.

By sheer luck I got through before IQdoctor pulled their discount code for repeat customers and it's been dispatched. I've done sums and I can cover what it's looking like increasing to but it's not going to be fun and since my mental health is shot anyway (work recruited someone totally incompetent and I'm caught in the fallout) - it's sent me quite badly wobbly.

I've not heard from Iq doctor - just had an email from med express I'd used previously but nothing from the supplier I've used for a fairly long while now.

Based on my 2.5mg dose which I’ve never increased in 9 months 😂 about £10 cheaper with Asda. I’m hoping now I can lose my remaining 5-6 stone on the 2.5 to keep costs down. A kind mumsnetter sent me a Zava £20 off discount code which worked for me last night if you want it. I ordered about 10pm and was approved an hour or so ago

Apologies for quoting myself but thinking about it, I started a post last week asking what was going on with the Monj site and disappearing codes. This all seems to make sense now. Discount days are over maybe 😢

Kay2000 · 15/08/2025 18:23

@FattyBumBumNoMore Thanks, however I ordered last night and it’s been approved. No discounts tho 😏. But at least I will have my current pen and two more whilst supply settles down.

💯 I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find any codes. Now we know.

Sorry if someone's already posted but have any suppliers released their new prices yet or is it all far too early?

Thank you!! Just figuring out how long I can afford to stay on for and at what dose... for some reason I had £350+ in my head (that will teach me to scan read headlines and panic lol!!)

Just ordered my first months jabs. I weigh 30 stone. I'm terrified of side effects.

Yeah, I think we've probably all done the same sums over the last 24hrs. I'm lucky in that I have a little stockpile, so am covered until Christmas, and think that with a little creative accounting, I should be able to manage longer term. But so many people will now be priced out, its so unfair.

Hello. I had very few side-effects.
Most people don't get any.
Some people get nauseated and have reflux.
SE generally go away after the first few weeks.

Hi, and welcome 😊 I didn’t get any side effects at all apart from constipation but that is manageable. I felt the same fear as you when starting, every body reacts differently. There are lots of options to manage them if they do affect you - good luck!

afaloren · 15/08/2025 20:09

Welcome @SecretNameforMN you’re on the right thread.

Many people don’t get any side effects at all. I get a bit of constipation which is managed by drinking fluids and eating enough fibre. I had one night of a runny tummy but not since then. Actually I do have one other side effect which is that I’m not so hot all the time which has been great!

I was the same, absolutely terrified. My main side effects have been tiredness and insomnia for the first few weeks, I soon realised to take it just before bed (first dose I’d recommend in the day, just in case). I was really cold, still am, and a heated throw was essential during winter and spring and it’s been a joy this summer as I’ve not horribly over heated! I had an almost instant reduction in inflammation and pain and my IBS much improved. When I went up to 7.5 I struggled with diarrhoea and I went back down to 5mg and increased more slowly. My final side effect which is my most worrisome to date is hair loss 😬 and I’m really hoping that stops soon. My hubby said well you always said you’d go back to short hair if you lost weight - short hair yes, bald no 🤣. All of these side effects have been worth getting through. I hope that settles your mind and good luck.

PositiveAttitude · 15/08/2025 22:04

Welcome @SecretNameforMN. I am another one who has had very little negative side effects.
You are certainly on the right thread here. Everyone understands our issues because everyone has been facing a long journey to a healthy weight.
I am only in my second month, so fairly new to this too.

I had always got my pens from my local pharmacist because I wanted to support local and I liked the face to face consultations to start with, despite it being quite a bit more expensive. I am now thinking that once this panic has settled I will move to an online supplier because the cost is going to be too much otherwise.

I have a little side hustle to bring in some extra money that I use for treating family members, but I am going to have to be selfish now and use it to top up for my jabs. I would prefer to be here for them and a healthier weight than to be dead from a heart attack, which I know is where I was heading just a few months ago.
For me, I really think this is a matter of life or death, I don't mean to be dramatic, but it's how I feel.
So I will find the money somehow.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/08/2025 22:54

Hello.

My weigh in day today and I had my first proper big woosh (2.5kg) so both wondering whether my scales are accurate and if maybe my body has been retaining water for a while or soemthing (had a slow down month then a static one but I'm 7months in so also not surprising.)

I'm also half way to my goal of bmi 25! I'm now 16 st 6. Bmi 25 is around 11stone for me.

However I've spent a lot of today anxious. I went upto 10mg this morning and the fatigue hit about 5pm and I've been horizontal. And worried.

Like pp it feels very much life or death and as you know I can now walk. It's literally lifechanging on so many levels. But my employment is zero hours and quite stressful work around it unpaid and we are struggling as it is. (school Uniform took us overdrawn).

I don't know what else we can cut out. We had 2 old cars and now down to one and a bike...

I'm also wondering if wegovy will actually have the same anti inflammatory impact on my walking.

And still wondering what dose I'd need long term.

I feel the Black Mirror episode (I only managed half of it but was taken by the idea) was too real...

SilenceInside · 15/08/2025 23:52

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden getting to the half way point is amazing! Big congratulations from me. Only seems like yesterday that you were thinking about starting. Time has flown by.

I watched the Black Mirror episode, it was a typically disturbing watch! It made it clear to me that at some point when dealing with corporations like the one in the episode, you do just have to cut your losses. Not end up in the sunk cost fallacy I suppose. So for us it might mean deciding to switch to Wegovy, or even Saxenda/Nevolat, rather than feel forced to pay higher and higher costs. Difficult though that may be.

I think that the significant weight loss you’ve achieved so far must now also be contributing to your walking ability. It’s going to keep on improving as you lose more weight, i would have thought. We’ll all find a way through these difficult times, somehow!
