Happy 1st birthday to us all - somewhere in this month we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

the amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+

in a year or for some 11-11.5mths - I was middle of August - we have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

some are at goal - and working out how to maintain

some nearing it

some still have weight they want to lose

Some have stopped for cost / various reasons and blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

but ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

maybe if brave - post your before and after pics to see how far we have come in a year

@Usernamechangeforthis12 your trip sounds amazing. I went to Thailand 35 years ago abd loved it.

Well done on your weight loss 👍

Ithinkimrincewind · 02/08/2025 09:57

@Blondeshavemorefun when I first moved down my hip/back was really sore again. So i upped my painkillers again for a bit. However it has calmed down again which was a relief! So im wondering if it's a bit of an adjustment like when we moved up?
I think being able to move better with less weight helps plus realising that high impact exercise was no longer an option at my age (53) whereas mat and reformer pilates etc has meant my core strength is the best it has ever been.
I think you said you are already on the highest for cocodamol etc? I've been able to drop down to maybe 3 a day most days. Anyway enjoy your holiday!

FurForksSake · 02/08/2025 10:38

Morning! I will take some “after” or “anniversary” pictures this week and post them. Haven’t worn anything but leggings for weeks!

also glad to see another shorty that has to stick to low calories, I’m hoping if my hip injection works I can do more exercise to build in a bit extra allowance. I feel like that and building muscle might be my only hope to keeping the weight under control as 1000 a day is pretty hard to be consistent with at times.

Slimhopes · 02/08/2025 11:14

@Azuresky68 if you don’t have side effects then why not just go up the dose for the last wee bit. By the way your bikini photo was amazing and made me feel that I’ll try and brave it next year on the beach as I’d love to feel the sun on my saggy tummy at least once in my life 😅 your confidence is infectious so thank you for that😊
Really my calorie allowance is 829 using the TDEE calculator. I’ve been really strict since I came back from holiday and want to get the last few pounds off. My maintenance calories are only around 1300 but I can’t improve my activity due to disability although I do as many steps a day as I can at home but that’s 4-5000. @FurForksSake yes the low calories are hard and hunger is definitely around for me most days. Boiled egg on a slice of wholemeal has been a filling favourite this week as I try to be strict for the final hurdle. I’ve been lucky that I’ve always lost every week but aware that could stop in the last few pounds but I’ll keep you posted.

1clavdivs · 02/08/2025 11:24

Goodness, I was hopeful but sceptical when I started, but never believed in a years time I could be a 'normal' BMI. 71lbs down so far and only about 5lbs from goal. No idea how I'm going to do maintenance, but I've come down from 12.5 to 10 so we'll see how that goes.

Anyway, here's a snapshot of my progress pics.

Happy Birthday to us, yipeeee, what a year! I cannot believe it's already a year and I have went from 14st 7lbs to 10st 12lbs ( Yesterday weigh in) i need to post pics. I am wearing clothes that are too big again after my splurge for holiday stuff. I need some new stuff but I will hang off for a while. Everyone looks fabulous. I think we are lucky to have found each other and have the best thread ever created, thank you our B xxxxxx

20bloodypounds · 02/08/2025 16:19

September thread is fine, and supportive, but not as chatty as this one! In my early days on MJ I found the August thread really helpful for giving advance advice. And it is often hilarious. And always kind and supportive.

NippyNinjaCrab · 02/08/2025 19:50

Love you here @20bloodypounds 💓💓💓

Well... I've looked through my photos from 27th July 2024 when I sent my pics to Voy, ffs I was massive, massive!!
Pics attached. I look healthy and happy in April, at the moment I've been really run down for a few weeks so please excuse my messy home and face 😅

The pics are July, August, Jan 25, Feb, April and now. Xxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/08/2025 20:01

@Usernamechangeforthis12thanks. Going to be weird as no dh but also good as last years one wasn’t that great as he was drinking

I plan to eat what I want and deal with it when I’m back

great you gained but lost and I think we all need to reliese this. That we may gain 4/6/8lbs but we can get it off again rather then thinking sod it and give up and gain more

I’m def guilty of that one !

how about a photo with no head @Slimhopes. Mine is always cut off or covered Mine was 38

@Azuresky68 yes you have posted many and with heads 😂

thanks @Motnight

wny didn’t you go up @Azuresky68. A few of us did to 25 what made you stop at 12.5 if struggling to lose

@Ithinkimrincewind thanks. I have reduced my painkillers as was on 8 a day 4 x 2 and have been on 2 x 2 for months bit I was fine on that on 15

omly when I went to 7.5 I started to feel it

@FurForksSake look forward to seeing pics

@Slimhopes just over 800c. Omfg.

sounds horrible you shorties are Hungary most days 😢😢 if came off mj you would be more hungry

@1clavdivs lovely to hear from you. So close to goal. Well done. Thanks for pics. Looking fab

most welcome @NippyNinjaCrab. I didn’t start August off. Now sure who did but they disappeared I think a few threads in so I took over

I don’t rem you being 14s - isn’t that weird

@20bloodypounds you are very welcome here. Course we are nicer and much chattier 😂😂😂

Ooh which shop are they from?

we had perishingly expensive steak, cooked on bbq and in sourdough bagettes with salad. dh cooked the steak perfectly, crusted but rare. Kids devoured it. Thank god, it would have been a very expensive dinner to ruin! Love steak and cheaper than takeaway.

@Blondeshavemorefun can't remember where you are going on holiday and what type of holiday you are going on but I am sure you will have a wonderful time and enjoy your new look and independence xx

The reason I didn't go up was because I tried 12 5 ages ago and could barely eat. Now I am used to 10 mg so 12 5 should be OK.
NSV ..My DP took me out for a an Italian meal tonight but instead of a pasta dish I chose chicken and veg in a lovely sauce with no potatoes, rice or pasta..winner winner, chicken dinner!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2025 09:36

I was right. I did start on the 16th. How ironic that’s the day I fly home and would have been 12 days of holiday food on my anniversary 😂😂

wonder what happened to the op of our threads. She disappeared around 5/6 I think and I took over

@auntydote - you were hard core. You took 4th and bonus dose together - naughty girl 😂😂

I know, in all honesty I feel a bit lost with the whole BMI and clothes sizes nowadays. I'm sure clothes sizes have changed since I was last slim (I guess around 2002) when I'm sure I was a size 14 at that weight. Now I'm a size 10. Also my perspective of what a healthy BMI must be wonky, as I'm 10 stone now and think I look almost a bit scrawny.

Wow, fantastic progress. We've all done so bloody well.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2025 12:37

Size 8 @FurForksSake. Well done and you can see the baggy difference in the two same clothes tops and shapely.

I think for some bmi can be right but also height makes a huge diff - how can anyone in size 10 be overweight
but bmi gives around 2/2,5 leeway from 19/24

bottom end I would look awful !!

top end with clothes on I look ok

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2025 12:41

Size 12 jeans. And room to breathe !! The 16 you sent me @NippyNinjaCrab on 14 feb that I didn’t fit into are now too baggy by far

I still don’t understand how I lost 4s and dropped 20/18 to 18 so 1-2 sizes really yet lost 2s and dropped to a 18 /12

BMI is very interesting, I’m beginning to realise (and I have no idea why I didn’t twig) that actually models and actresses and people off the telly are underweight. In my head underweight = eating disorder, but for some people that is just normal in the same way it was normal for me to be obese. They literally sell clothes in sizes you could really only n wear if you are underweight. BMI is definitely a very blunt instrument.

i saw this chart on Facebook, it’s interesting how it gives three desirable ranges depending on frame.
