Happy 1st birthday to us all - somewhere in this month we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

the amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+

in a year or for some 11-11.5mths - I was middle of August - we have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

some are at goal - and working out how to maintain

some nearing it

some still have weight they want to lose

Some have stopped for cost / various reasons and blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

but ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

maybe if brave - post your before and after pics to see how far we have come in a year

Thanks, @Blondeshavemorefun for keeping the threads going - I never ever talk about this in real life, so it's been really comforting to have a resource thread of virtual mates to check in on! I've namechanged so many times since last August I can't remember who I was back then but can't believe it's been a whole year.

I'm 21kg down - slow but steady! - and still on 10mg. Hair loss and muscle loss was a worry for me, being perimenopausal and already losing both fast enough, so I maybe haven't been as laser-focused on calories as I could have been, but I've tried to keep gym attendance up. My favourite non-scales win is being able to hold yoga balance poses much more easily - and also picking up 20kg in barbell weights and reminding myself that this time last year I was carrying this much around with me.

Despite this, I'm wearing the same clothes I started out in despite losing over three stones, which makes me wonder if my clothes were just very, very stretchy. According to the NHS BMI calculator, I've got another two stones to lose but I'm not sure that's realistic for my body type. And my 34Fs have shrunk quite enough already...

FurForksSake · 05/08/2025 15:19

@BriefHugits interesting how clothes work, isn’t it? For ages I was in the same clothes and I nust have been opting for unstructured and oversized clothes. Well done, the yoga sounds fab!

FurForksSake · 05/08/2025 15:21

It’s interesting how differently people treat me now, I’ve had several hip injections before and been given some basic advice. Today the consultant told me repeatedly I must not be running or going for long walks and must rest. The assumption was heavily that I exercise regularly. Previously the assumption was that I was totally sedentary, even though actually I was probably a lot more active than I am now!

Redlightbulb · 05/08/2025 15:41

@BriefHug
I still wear some of my old clothes but as the weeks go on more are becoming regulated to just house wear.

Azuresky68 · 05/08/2025 16:08

@poppym12 @Redlightbulb @BriefHug great to hear from you xx

Azuresky68 · 05/08/2025 16:09

@Blondeshavemorefun enjoy your holiday...looking great xx

Azuresky68 · 05/08/2025 16:16

I am in a lot of pain today.and feeling drained...finally spoke to my doctor about next steps
So its 4.15 and not been out of house. Missed my walking group BUT I got all dressed up just for me. White jeans that are now too big, white vest top and brown suede jacket with gold platforms (M&S reduced from £55 to £27) . Did my hair and makeup. Now I am going in to town with my pensioner bus pass to pick up some sensible tan leather sandals also in the sale!
Agree i am still wearing clothes that were in my wardrobe that I bought when lighter or when i squeezed into when bigger!

lookathatbookcase · 05/08/2025 16:49

@Azuresky68 That sounds super-stylish! I hope the pain eases soon and you have forward motion with the next round of medical things.

@BriefHug I had exactly the same realisation when weightlifting! Incredible to think how much we've lost. i'm working towards being able to squat my own weight (which is more incentive to lose a little more...)

Strange thing with ASDA where they asked for photos to fulfil my order - I get it, in terms of care/responsibility but oof, to have to take one of those grim sideways-on poses again :( Proof if proof be needed that there's further to go. Am making myself feel better by selling loads of size 16-20 clothes on Vinted and eBay. Onwards!

WorriedRelative · 05/08/2025 18:47

Checking in, sorry not been as present on the last couple of threads. However I have now hit (and slightly exceeded) the elephant penis milestone!!!!!!

Managed to maintain on holiday despite lots of pizza and buffet based food. Just need to get the losses moving again now I am back.

I am hovering around the 25bmi mark which was my original goal but I am going to try and drop a bit more.

I'm not quite at the 1 year anniversary yet, I was quite late in the month.

Hope everyone is doing OK?

FurForksSake · 05/08/2025 18:55

@WorriedRelativewoohoo! Well done on the milestone!

NippyNinjaCrab · 05/08/2025 19:37

How do you feel tonight @FurForksSake

@Blondeshavemorefun have an amazing holiday, I'm trying to look back to see what I said for your reply that you're still licking your wounds 🤔 i can't find anything xx

FurForksSake · 05/08/2025 19:40

I’ve had a little cry, lots of big gun painkillers and it’s settling down. I had a very bad afternoon.

I’ve been in bed as I’ve got to stay immobile for a few days apart from the loo, but I’ve found some good history documentaries and bought a 9ft body pillow and I’m doing ok!

thanks for checking in, it’s been a long day!!

NippyNinjaCrab · 05/08/2025 20:50

Aw wee soul, even the thought of that injection is sickening, I couldn't do it again. Big hugs, stay rested and cosy and you'll be up and about in no time xxx

WorriedRelative · 05/08/2025 22:03

Just popping back because I have realised following checking that today is my 1 year MJ anniversary!

I am made up with the progress, and feel so much better physically and happier with my body. It has been an incredibly challenging year, I am sure without MJ I would have piled on weight, and my progress has been slower as a result but to finish the first year 62lbs lighter and wearing a size 12/14 rather than 18/20 is fabulous.

WorriedRelative · 05/08/2025 22:04

Sorry to hear you are in pain @Azuresky68and @FurForksSake

If you want tv recommendations Blondes is your woman!

I haven't seen that, might add it to my list to watch without the husband as he'll say it is miserable, unless I can sell it to him on it being set it Thailand 🤔

What else, oh i watched a film with Harry Styles, Don't Worry Darling, very odd.

NippyNinjaCrab · 06/08/2025 21:33

@Blondeshavemorefun defo not me that was suggesting a holiday romance lol 😆
@FurForksSake how's the hip today? X

FurForksSake · 06/08/2025 21:39

Better than yesterday, I’ve been in bed all day and will tomorrow to try and rest the joint and keep the steroids in, but apart from being stiff it’s been a lot better over the course of the day. Not needed any oramorph like yesterday!
