I had another big clothes try on and clear out this morning, which was very satisfying.
What did I learn?
I had bought stuff in the past because I was desperate to find anything that fitted, eg when going away on holiday or to a long conference. In those situations, I didn't make wise choices. So many of those items have gone in the pile to sell or donate.
I have too many pairs of navy linen trousers, in a variety of sizes! And a few in black. They don't wear well, on the whole, either the Primark ones or the John Lewis ones. Some of those have gone in the bin. I may re-dye the better quality ones that have faded.
I now fit (yay!) some of the lovely slim tapered fit, with a slight stretch, black Laura Ashley trousers that I used to wear for work. Size 14 are good. Size 12 will need another few kilos to be possible. But I am getting there! They are great quality and as good as new (such a shame LA closed down) and my legs look great. But it's interesting to note that the size 12 ones did fit me when I was last around this weight (about 2018). So I am carrying my weight in a different place (more stomach) now.
I have too much black and navy, some of it bought in desperation (see above). I am going to branch out into more colour, and show my legs off more.
I am starting to appreciate my arms, so I have bought two more stretch vest tops from Zara, which fit beautifully. What works is a higher neck and wider shoulder straps, so I don't feel too exposed, but my arms are on show.
I am determined to enjoy clothes more and use this as an incentive to lose the last seven kilos or so, and keep it off.
Apart from four pairs of trousers which are excellent quality/material and just a little bit too big for me at the moment, which I have stored away so I have some wriggle room if I gain a little back, I have put the rest in the pile to sell or donate. I hope that getting rid of them will help psychologically.
I have my fifth personal trainer session tomorrow. August weigh in in two weeks.
