Well my goodness. Thread 7. Warriors, we are 6 months in! How life has changed.

To all of you who have made it: many, many congratulations and good luck with the continued maintenance. To the rest of the team still climbing that mountain: we got this, let’s bloody go!!

SW 103.9kg / 16.4 stone
CW 73.4kg / 11.6 stone
TW 72.2kg / 11.4 stone (top end healthy BMI)
Dream weight 68kg / 10.7 stone

Reeeeeeally want to get to target weight before holiday in 10 days time so time really is ticking now! Feel like one of the Lionesses: must keep my cool, bang it in the back of the net and get the job done.

You are all absolutely amazing and the continued support on this group is incredible.

Onwards and downwards! Godspeed for thread 7! xx

P.S. have clearly plagiarised some phrases from some of you good people. Hope you don’t mind: feel they’re part of our thing as a group now so please take it as flattery!

All you C25k people … I’m going to join you. Any tips?

I’ve been a bit nervous about my pelvic floor but feel quietly confident that if I go gently it might be ok.

I've been coasting along on Mounjaro without any side effects for a little while but now just starting week 5 of 8mg and I've had nausea on and off for a few days. Also today I got to teatime and realised I hadn't had so much as a cup of tea since lunch - it's the first time in quite some time I haven't had any 'food noise' all day and no mid-afternoon snack! I forgot how lovely it is to not be thinking about food and hadn't realised just how much I was powering through on willpower (though not under any illusions, the mj has still been doing a lot of the lifting). I made myself eat a healthy dinner despite the nausea, which is now persisting and now I've got that trapped wind feeling in my left hand side. I find it interesting that there's this little storm all at the same time of the return of no food noise, the reintroduction of some side effects, a 3lb loss and the appearance of my late period.

I know I've moaned (incessantly) about not going down any dress sizes but a few years ago I saw a lovely pair of pyjama bottoms/lounge pants on sale, not the kind of thing I would normally buy myself but I really liked them. The only problem was that they only had them in size 12. So I bought them anyway, because I liked them that much. We all know where this is going.... They definitely run large and are not a size 12 by any stretch of the imagination but they are also definitely not a 16. And they fit me, comfortably, and I think they might actually be the swishiest, comfiest, fanciest thing I own. I absolutely love them and I'm so glad I bought them. I only tried them on because for some reason when I'm been doing washing this weekend absolutely none of the dry stuff returning upstairs has been mine and I'd run out of clean everything.

That's the second pair of pyjamas that used to be too small but I can now wear comfortably and I wonder why I denied myself nice pyjamas for so many years?! I have been wearing old jogging bottoms and t shirts to bed. Like I didn't deserve to wear nice pyjamas like these.

My only tip really is to go as slow as you need to. Sometimes people are walking faster than I'm jogging and it bothered me at first because I used to run years ago but now I'm ok about it - speed comes later. Also repeat weeks if you need to.

Agree, go slowly!

Put running kit out to change into the night before your planned run so you’re more likely to do it.

Listen to a podcast so it’s less boring.

Promise yourself a little reward after wk 4 and wk 8.

Weighed day today, 1kg off from the golden dose. Just under 3kg on the 2.5mg pen and just under where I was when I stopped the first time.
First jab of 5mg and im nervous given how bad my stomach was mid week but I am wondering if that was something else as I've been fine since. Luckily I'm working from home until Thursday this week so fingers crossed any effects dissappear before then.

Original SW 82.6kg
Second SW 75.5kg
CW 72.6kg

I was just looking at what I'd need to be to be a 'healthy' BMI.... under 62kg which i don't think is going to happen, I do a lot of strength training and have a reasonable amount of muscle which I don't want to lose, so I think I'm going to aim for around 65kg. It's the first time I'm putting a target in but I think it's achievable.

Here's to a great September 😍

WoolerOwl · 01/09/2025 10:57

I am enjoying a morning (day?) of fasting. I ate too much yesterday (should have said no to the large helping of roast that DH served me) and spent the night having sicky dreams that I think were probably reflux while I was asleep. I haven’t had this since the earlier doses and it was a horrible step backwards. Definitely got an upset stomach this morning, it’s a reminder to me to be careful when away with work next week, where I will end up eating much later in the evening than I normally do at home. And for today, tea, electrolytes, and a very plain dinner.

Can I ask about the electrolytes? I use them if I'm exercising but other than that I just drink squash (plus tea and coffee). Do you regularly use them or is it just if you've had an upset tummy? Just assuming that i might have some effects going up to 5mg amd trying to plan recovery as best as I can 🤣

sweetpickle2 · 01/09/2025 13:50

Jab day for me, and a whoosh after a couple of weeks of stalling (although the same as when I had a cheeky weigh in earlier in the week)-

SW 107.8kg
CW 80kg

That puts me bang on a BMI of 25- hoping to get a few kgs under 80 and firmly into a healthy BMI before I have to taper down. 8mg seems to be working well for me so going to continue with that for this pen then go down to 5 and 2.5 to come off.

Have good weeks all!

WoolerOwl · 01/09/2025 13:54

I started taking them when I started MJ. I'd had horrible constipation on Wegovy and the pharmacist told me I needed to be careful I drank enough. I also suffer from vestibular migraine and I did have a few headaches the first couple of weeks of MJ on the day of injection. So I now use Zero electrolyte tablets, mango or grapefruit flavour, one in 750ml of water every day mid-morning. And another same size bottle of plain water in the afternoon. Plus tea, decaff coffee and herbal tea. It's become a ritual! And it helps to get through the morning without breakfast (I do 16:8 fasting) and without feeling wobbly. Feeling good!

SpiralSister · 01/09/2025 14:07

Afternoon, warriors. Sorry to hear about the tummy issues! It’s a constant journey, isn’t it?

Just back from meeting a vascular surgeon - I’m getting my varicose vein done! He said it was a very unfair but common scenario with significant weight loss, where the vein becomes closer to the surface (unhidden by blubber!) and so both more noticeable and more sensitive, which explains my experience. All thought of veins and blood makes me a bit dizzy and queasy, but he was v kind and I feel confident about going ahead.

Incidentally, he gave me his thoughts on Mounjaro (after asking what I thought about it!). It’s a miracle drug in his opinion, but most people will need to stay on, even at microdose level, for life in order not to gain back over time. I have sadly come to the same conclusion. Hoping the whole price thing levels out over time, and cross about what this means for millions who can’t afford this. Grrrr.

Ah, thanks. Constipation is the usual side effect for me, which is why I was so surprised when the opposite happened 😅

I've never really thought about hydration as an issue but I probably need to be more intentional with drinking amd might try an electrolyte tab daily and see if it helps 😊

SpiralSister · 01/09/2025 15:08

Forgot to post NSV - seem to have gone down a size in shoes! This isn’t great news tbh, as replacing all my footwear isn’t feasible really!

(goes off to look at chunky socks for winter..)

I find that a magnesium citrate tablet each night before bed also helps with constipation (and sleep). And two psyllium husk tablets with dinner (and lots of water) helps too, as well as taking the edge off my evening hunger and keeping me full for the evening to stop me snacking.

This has happened to me as well, and I’m chuffed. My feet had swelled slightly, just enough to make a few pairs of shoes uncomfortable.

And me. There are a few pairs that I had kept but knew I couldn't wear with swollen feet/ankles that now fit fine.

PurpleCoo · 01/09/2025 17:18

@SpiralSister I also feel angry about inequalities in health care with these price changes now. Although not everyone could afford the old prices, I think they were accessible to most, as it was the price of a weekly take away if you shopped around.

I had a NSV. Just back from Scotland and all my hiking trousers are ridiculously huge (except for the 12s, which are just baggy) I was going to just use belts until I finished losing weight, but there is just so much material bunched up, it's uncomfortable. I have just bought two pairs of size 10 trousers and they look so flattering, I almost look slim! They are Mountain Warehouse size 10, so not a real size 10, but I am so happy nonetheless. Even though I only lost a kg this past week, I seem to have shrunk a lot. My muscle/fat oercentage hasn't really changed according to Boditrax, so not sure how that works, but I am not complaining

@usedtobeaylis I know what you mean about being noticed more. I used to walk around wanting to be invisible though and I think that makes quite a difference, with both men and women.

In the meantime, Must Stay Off Vinted!

Oh me too re Vinted. I’m officially obsessed. I’ve bought something almost every day last week. Must stop.

eleanorwish · 01/09/2025 18:54

My weight has stalled this week. Total weight loss since 14 February is 3st 10lbs. I’m out of my usual routine as DD is home from uni and is demanding all her favourite meals. It’s easier to have rice or potatoes with everyone else so my carbs have been up the last couple of weeks.
I’m also getting more food noises, so I think I’m going to have to go up a dose, to 12.5 when I order my next pen. Not looking forward to paying for that!

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 01/09/2025 20:39

Yes Vinted is addictive!!

I just got called disgraceful for asking to cancel an order I bought this morning. Top was going to be too big. Didn't know if seller (man) would understand I'm not totally in the habit of buying the right size yet. Of course I understand his frustration but he'd not even downloaded the label so doubt any real harm done.

Not disgraceful at all. The seller is the disgraceful one behaving like that towards you!

Thank you @Mounjaroday It was a professional seller and just an every day top that didn't have a lot of likes. As much as I appreciate the inconvenience I caused, I didn't feel as bad after he reacted so rudely. Anyhow, I have my refund so have blocked him so I don't accidentally buy from him again. Onwards...

Me three. It’s hard to resist. I do wonder if I’ve replaced the dopamine seeking of food with buying (and selling) on Vinted. I definitely over bought at size 14, for sure.

I dream of being the sort of elegant being who has a capsule wardrobe and always looks put together with a few expensive pieces. Instead I’m like a magpie in my own wardrobe, pulling out the next beautiful thing that doesn’t have any shoes that go with it, and is completely unsuitable anyway for my actual life of dog walking, swimming and being seen shoulder up on zoom.

I am always over dressed for trips to the pub, but I quite like that. People stroke my clothes! This is cheering when I contemplate my overdraft..

How shitty of him! I’ve done it myself, and all I’ve had is either silence or a gracious acceptance of my apology! Trigger finger when you still think you are bigger than you are..

skyscrapersinging · 02/09/2025 10:44

@SpiralSister I think we all dream of being that soignée, put-together person who is effortlessly elegant. I imagined I would achieve it post-weight loss by basically ditching my entire wardrobe and starting again from scratch. It didn’t happen. (And I also got overexcited at size 14, and now I have to sell all them on Vinted as well as the 16/18 I was at start of year!)
