Well my goodness. Thread 7. Warriors, we are 6 months in! How life has changed.

To all of you who have made it: many, many congratulations and good luck with the continued maintenance. To the rest of the team still climbing that mountain: we got this, let’s bloody go!!

SW 103.9kg / 16.4 stone
CW 73.4kg / 11.6 stone
TW 72.2kg / 11.4 stone (top end healthy BMI)
Dream weight 68kg / 10.7 stone

Reeeeeeally want to get to target weight before holiday in 10 days time so time really is ticking now! Feel like one of the Lionesses: must keep my cool, bang it in the back of the net and get the job done.

You are all absolutely amazing and the continued support on this group is incredible.

Onwards and downwards! Godspeed for thread 7! xx

P.S. have clearly plagiarised some phrases from some of you good people. Hope you don’t mind: feel they’re part of our thing as a group now so please take it as flattery!

@FunnyCrabDance I'm sorry for your loss

Morning all. Really sad to hear about the price hike. My last pen was 10mg on med express and was £190 which was already a bit out of my price range. :( im almost at the top of my healthy bmi..wondered if anyone can advise any other places to try that may be cheaper for that pen (eli lily news aside)? I felt like around 100 or 150 was acceptable but nearly 200 is a bit much sadly.

On the plus side I started 10 on wed after having felt like 7.5 was almost non existent and almost instantly noticed a much better suppression. Its so interesting how it all works. Im trying so hard on the water intake too as rally notice such a difference with that.

Also a funny nsv. I was thinking I can't remember the last time I 'passed wind'! It has definitely fixed my toilet habits into something much more regular and 'normal'!!

Hope the day brings better news on the pricing

Have you tried the monj.co.uk website for the discounts? I'm not sure how much luck you'll have, the prices seem to have crept up and some have frozen orders but might be worth a look. I've switched a few times based on what's on there. I don't think I've paid over £150 for any pen.

MynameisJune · 15/08/2025 08:08

So sorry for your loss @FunnyCrabDance hope you have some real life support.

@sc0ttishlass I’ve paid £115 for 10mg with get a drip last week and £135 last night with pharmacy2u. I’ve never paid over £140 for any pen and never stay with the same supplier.

I was planning on going with oushk once I’m nearly at target and then doing their maintenance plan but who knows now.

As someone who read all 34 pages of that thread it’s a lot of none MJ taking people gloating over the changes and telling people to eat less and exercise etc.

But it also said that they think 2.5mg will be around £150 and 15mg will be around £320 per pen.

As Eli Lilly need to create parity with the US or lose the market there this is what they’ve done rather than lower US prices (although insurance companies wouldn’t necessarily have lowered prices in line anyway over there but this looks good for Trump)

This is also likely to effect wegovy as they also received the same letter from Trump. So that might not be an affordable option either for much longer.

MynameisJune · 15/08/2025 08:10

I am hoping that now they’ve created parity with the US they can also licence micro dosing for the UK the way that the US has so that it’s accessible that way as that’s slightly cheaper.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 15/08/2025 08:19

Yew fingers crossed we stay in wind free 😁

Some of the prices people are using are ex VAT

The prices I quoted were direct from Oushk on their live and were what they’d retail at.

MMP did a live yesterday and their prices will range from £137 to £271 unless it changes again.

Okay

What that doesn't include then because they haven't been worked out yet is the rebates that Eli has said it will put in place too. Would expect these to take a few weeks to sort out. Will be amazed if it happens by Sept 1st!

I’m not sure why you seem to have an attitude with me about this. I’m just literally quoting these two pharmacies who have come out with their new pricing.

Oh my goodness

No intentions at all to come across like that!

I was only trying to explain better news on prices may come at a later date.

Sorry! I think I’ve read that big thread and all the shitty responses from none MJ people too much!

Yes I am hoping that there will be better terms coming for pricing. I’m guessing MMP and Oushk have based them on their current terms which is maybe worst case scenario.

When you see how expensive it is in other countries we have been incredibly lucky. Even in Australia someone has said it’s $580 or £282 for 7.5mg. And another person in UAE says it’s £450 a month there. I didn’t realise it was so expensive everywhere else. America is different as they’re screwed by their insurance companies and government profiteering.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 15/08/2025 09:09

No worries and sorry for causing more stress

I agree with everything you've said. Have a good day x

WoolerOwl · 15/08/2025 09:14

I felt surprisingly sad reading the news yesterday about the price increases. I've been trying to work out why. I can probably afford a few more months to get to goal. I will go to my pharmacy today and see if I can buy two pens now rather than the one that I am due. And I will move up to 10mg for a month to make sure my rate of loss stays high enough.

But I think it's more about realizing with yesterday's news that I couldn't really justify staying on a maintenance dose for very long (or at all). And that feels like a lifeline or a safety net has been taken away. Not only in terms of weight management, but the reduced inflammation that I feel is so much improved on MJ in terms of joints, allergies, and vestibular migraine. And possibly more level mood as well, once I got over the anxiety/sleeplessness of the first few months the night after the jab.

I guess I will have to stop taking MJ to see if actually losing weight has helped all of those things, so I might not need to continue with MJ for those reasons. Just keep the weight off. Which I know is easier said than done.

I also realize that it's about something else as well, which is that being a person on MJ and part of this thread has been incredibly helpful. That's especially true since no one except DH knows I am on it, and he is doing just as I asked him and not talking about it or making a thing of what I eat or don't, and just letting me get on with it. (Or possibly, he has forgotten that I said I was going to try this out!). Anyway, despite having lost around 25kg, almost no one (except a couple of work colleagues) has commented. I am on this journey on my own. Coming to this thread regularly to report on the ups and downs and the strange new world of exercise (I went for a run this morning, week 2 day 2 of C25K, and I've now done five sessions with a personal trainer!) has been brilliant. So thank you all. I don't want to lose that lovely sense of support if the MJ journey has to come to an end.

It has helped to try to break down the feelings into those different components and then perhaps I can find a way to deal with each one separately. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that yet, but at least I can see the different parts.

SkintSingleMumm · 15/08/2025 09:23

I think all honesty we need to be using referral codes to get some discounts still (if they are still an option?) but in a much more discreet way somehow (not like before where it was so open)

Hopefully that will still be an option.

Eli Lilly have put a cap on orders for the next 2 weeks so once stock has gone suppliers can’t get more until after that point. The greed is really showing over this.

sweetpickle2 · 15/08/2025 09:38

So sorry for your loss @FunnyCrabDance - it certainly puts things into perspective.

It doesn't look like I'll be able to even by my next planned pen as all the stockpiling people are doing means they've sold out, and Eli Lilly has stopped supplying a lot of pharmacies for now so unsure when they'll come back into stock. I was very upset about this yesterday, now I think that if I have to go cold turkey I will and just have to be extra mindful- there are certainly worse things in life.

Hope everyone is okay today x

FunnyCrabDance · 15/08/2025 09:43

Thank you everyone for kind words, even strangers can mean a lot. I'm fine, or as ok as fine now can be, lots of good family, friends and real life support too.

I was shocked by this increase news, it had passed me by totally this week, and it also puts a stop to my partners plans to start. Guess its a gym membership instead 🤔

usedtobeaylis · 15/08/2025 10:01

The contrast between the greed of people who stand to benefit from people's illnesses and unhappiness, and the solidarity between people here who have been taking Mounjaro together and sharing their ray of hope is really stark. We live in a disgusting world at times.

skyscrapersinging · 15/08/2025 10:04

FunnyCrabDance · 15/08/2025 06:30

This pricing thing has thrown me too, i dont know what I'll do now as was stretching to afford it anyway.

Its been a hell of week here, my mum died on Wednesday after a long illness, so the weight has kind of been dropping off me anyway. But i also dont want to go back to eating my emotions in the coming weeks either. Tough times

Sending virtual hugs. That is tough. Hope you are able to talk to someone and have some help and support around you?

skyscrapersinging · 15/08/2025 10:13

@WoolerOwl sad here, too. That news just capped off a really shit day. DD missed her top uni offer v narrowly and is utterly devastated by it. I am too on her behalf. The fact that it was a crazy high offer doesn’t really make any of us feel better, just sad that she did all that work and still didn’t get there. Looking at the insurance backup option, but it’s really a let down compared to her first.

And then that crappy news. Like many, I could almost justify the cost at £150ish a month and was thinking I would continue with Oushk on maintenance long term as it would be slightly cheaper with their discounts for maintenance plans. But at £300ish a month, I’m out. Have two pens in fridge and that will take me thru into Sept. so we shall see what the cost is then. Maybe I could scrape thru a final couple months to taper down using clicks, but I can’t justify it long term if it’s gonna be the kind of money people are saying on the forums.

skyscrapersinging · 15/08/2025 10:17

@WoolerOwl oh and I totally agree about the cameraderie on this thread. I don’t post much, but I do lurk and celebrate everyone’s victories. It’s been a really refreshing change to have kind and uplifting social media interactions with complete strangers. So, hooray for all of us! @everyone!

WoolerOwl · 15/08/2025 11:14

@skyscrapersinging Oh, I am sorry for your DD. We were in the same position a few years ago. It is so hard when they have put so much work in. What helped my DC was to take time to stand back and look at the options. The insurance offer didn't hold much appeal, so taking a year out an reapplying was in the end the best route. But it was hard to find the headspace to do that with everyone crowding in and asking what they had got and what were going to do. And we needed to offer a lot of reassurance that a person's worth is not the sum of their A level results. It did all work out well (graduated this summer with a First!) but there were some hard and valuable lessons on the way.

WoolerOwl · 15/08/2025 11:26

I have just had a good chat with my friendly local pharmacist. And bought a 10 and a 7.5 pen now to put in the fridge, before the price rises. The plan is to try to get to goal with those and then go back to buy a 5 for another month. And then see.

He said that they just don't know about the actual prices. Supply is ok, though he is out of 5 pens at the moment. His advice would be to come down a dose per month once at goal. But he said the most important thing was to have changed habits. We talked about protein and veg and some fruit being the foundation of a good diet. And exercise habits. He's lost a lot of weight on it himself, so I trust his advice.

He said that some people don't do well after stopping because they have never really changed their habits and have still pushed themselves to eat out of habit or social expectation even when they are not hungry. They do lose weight on MJ, because even they won't be eating as much, but they tend to revert to poor habits quickly without the MJ. I hope I can continue this way of thinking that the sky will not fall in if I miss a meal or have an occasional very low calorie or fasting day, and that I don't need snacks ever, at all.

I guess what we are all trying to do is build new structures. The MJ has been like scaffolding holding them up and doing some of the hard work. Our job is to take on the hard work ourselves through good choices about food and exercise which become new habits, so that when the scaffolding is taken away, the new building stands up by itself.

And maybe this supportive group is a different piece of scaffolding that can stay!

usedtobeaylis · 15/08/2025 12:42

WePrescribe are so cheeky - they've got limited stock so they've suspended discount codes but let you order THREE pens from limited stock.

I've put two on a credit card which I didn't really want to to do. I ordered the 15mg and am currently on 8mg so if it goes through ok I'm going to work out how long I've got left and develop a plan to taper off. I'm hopeful that the 15mg is still the least ordered pen so they'll have plenty.
