I noticed we were almost full (again!) so took the liberty of starting thread 5 now so I don’t get confused on nightshift and can’t find you all!

HKG · 26/07/2025 18:36

I lost this group! For two days I was thinking, it’s a bit quiet, hope everyone’s okay… so glad I found you all again and thank you for the new thread!

question on exercise, what are people doing? I’m so exhausted I’m just trying to do my 10k steps. My personal trainer DH is so supportive and gently trying to get me to lift some weights but I’m terrified of it slowing my loss down (I used to love lifting heavy). Would love to hear experiences and how it affects your losses.

thank you all!

BluNavy · 26/07/2025 19:41

We have a peloton and I do a few general cycles whilst watching Netflix for thirty minutes. When I started it was incredibly hard but has gotten easier and this week I braved some actual spin classes.
Im also doing a lot of yoga.
I have creatine when I work out and find if I push through the first 10 minutes I can keep going all on very little calories.
I started weights but not been consistent so need to get better at that.
It hasn't slowed my weight loss. I've lost almost 20kg / 3 stone.
I probably do some kind of specific working out five days a week and previously did zero.

FlorenceNightshade · 26/07/2025 20:02

@HKG i try and walk for at least an hour a day with my dog, usually I wear a weighted vest for this. I aim to run at least once per week sometimes more for at least 25mins.

I’ve started outdoor cycling again recently (had a wee accident a few years ago that put me right off!) and aim to do this at least once per week for about an hour but sometimes am out more often.

I do try and complete a YouTube weights (kettle bells or dumbbells) video once or twice a week but often don’t manage it.

I always tend to run and bike fasted I feel sick doing it after I’ve eaten so tend to go out in the morning. On run and weights days I really try and drink an extra litre of water (usually at least 2 daily) as I find this helps DOMS. I also daily weigh so notice fluctuations if I haven’t hit my water target. I’ve not noticed that lifting weights has slowed anything down.

Ive lost 15kg in 10 weeks, pre MJ I would run about three times a week and walk daily so am trying to increase my activity and vary it a bit. I have been really tired the last few weeks, I was on 5mg but will be dropping down for next week so hopefully will have more energy!

How handy having a PT husband! Maybe trust his expertise and try it out? If you feel it isn’t working for you then switch it up 🤷‍♀️

I’m still doing Lucy Winwood-Reed on YouTube there are soo many I don’t think I’ve done the same one twice!!

Just uses body’s own weight as resistance so easy but also really effective I’m happily going her longer & more intense ones now snd try & do at least one a day even if it’s just a short one

Gingercar · 26/07/2025 20:45

I was just thinking of you the other day HKG. Glad you’re doing ok.
Im not doing anything special exercise wise. Life is just so busy. I never get anywhere near 10k steps, even with dogs. But I’m pretty active generally- I muck the horse out daily and am carrying things from one house to another, moving us next door and mum in with us. I’ve got my cafe open six days a week for the school holidays (as opposed to just weekends) so am constantly baking or shopping. I throw in the odd set of squats when it’s quiet!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 26/07/2025 21:02

'Sartorial calamity' could be my stage name @Dbatteryband. Love it.

@Hkg I have been considering joining a gym to get some strength training in. I mentioned it today at dinner and my kids and partner immediately said no. As if I'm going to walk into another gym and tear my other ACL! Honestly. I might wait till I've had surgery though.

I would like to start working out. Maybe I should look into it anyway.

PinkScot · 26/07/2025 21:08

@VashtaNerada yes to sudden hot flushes I can be really sweating buckets for a few mins and different to usual menopause ones. The only cold flushes are in the freezer isle at Tesco 😆 never bothered me before but now my teeth chatter and I definitely speed up which helps reduce the ice cream temptation!

Gingercar · 26/07/2025 22:02

When I read loads of previous MJ threads prior to starting I was delighted to read that many people were cold as one of the SE. I’ve been boiling in bed for the past few years, to the extent that I often slept separately from my husband. Due to the menopause. I was looking forward to snuggles. But nope! Still bloody boiling.

VashtaNerada · 26/07/2025 23:01

It’s so weird, I just suddenly feel extremely cold or extremely hot and as @PinkScot says it only lasts a few minutes. I spend the whole night either suddenly snuggling under my duvet because I’m shivering or suddenly throwing all my covers off and tying my hair up because I’m boiling.

SussexLass87 · 26/07/2025 23:25

Thanks for the new thread...checking in.

Weighed yesterday and another week of maintaining sigh...another week ahead and going to try and focus more.

Congrats to those with losses and hugs to those with SE..

Lass xx

Thank you so much for all the replies.! I still get weirdly nervous posting (hangover from school perhaps!!??? Crazy I know).

@FlorenceNightshade @BluNavy @Seahorsesplendour thank you so much - so great to hear it’s not affecting your weight loss negatively. And how amazing you guys have the energy to do it all! I’m going to channel you tomorrow!

@Gingercar you are very kind to think of me, I am so sorry to hear of all the stuff life is hurling at you. I have everything crossed that they will settle a little soon, at least with your mum nearer if will hopefully be a little easier on your mind. We have a similar situation with my DH’s mother, reading your experiences was like reliving our own so I send you all my positive energy! You are incredible doing all this with so much on!

@DidILeaveTheGasOn i can see why they would be nervous but I’m sure even concentrated upper body would be beneficial? Do you have a date for the surgery?

what a group! The positive power of the Internet!

MyScaredCat · 27/07/2025 07:58

I really need to look at weights or similar. I noticed on holiday how loose the tops of my thighs and arms are looking. Not a good look!
i walk a 4K route daily, 50 mins, but no sort of resistance training. I think that would help loose wrinkly skin? Where to start?
anyone any tips?

MyScaredCat · 27/07/2025 08:04

Positive side I jumped on the scales this morning and have only 3lbs on after a weeks overindulgence. I am feeling confident that the majority of that will be gone by my official weigh day of Wednesday as it’s back to sensible eating from today. Going to jab 5mg in the morning as I last did it Friday week ago.

SaintAgatha · 27/07/2025 08:55

@SussexLass87 What about your NSWs? Have you measured instead of weighed? I bet there’s positives to be found there for you. :-)

Besides, I think this cheeky little plateau means in a week or so you’ll drop a few pounds all in one go. Onwards and downwards!👇

SutekhsEars · 27/07/2025 09:04

I'm really struggling with exercise. I'm doing less now than pre-MJ. ☹️ I just have no energy.

Seahorsesplendour · 27/07/2025 09:19

NSV’s for me today as still feeling bloated so wanted to reassure myself that this weekends indulgences have not knocked me back to the start!!

so I measured and losses as follows:

Waist 11.3cm
hips 7.5cm
Bust 1.6cm
And approx 2cm off each arm & thigh

Im really pleased!! I didn’t measure until wk 3 and had already lost just over a stone at that point too!

sorry to those feeling too tired to excercise 😥

what I have noticed is that the days I do excercise I have more energy and feel less tired. It’s why I like LWR it isn’t so energetic that I feel I can’t do it I just tell myself to do a 5 min one and often that leads to another and that it’s just like going for a walk so no special clothes equipment etc just get on with it!

easier said than done some days I know ❤

also feel like I keep mentioning her 🙈 probably annoying everyone!!! But honestly she’s completely changed my mind set which is unbelievable really given where I started!

ElsieJay · 27/07/2025 09:24

SutekhsEars · 27/07/2025 09:04

I'm really struggling with exercise. I'm doing less now than pre-MJ. ☹️ I just have no energy.

Thanks so much for that - reading about lifting weights, running, yoga, cycling et al upthread I was feeling very guilty.
Prior to MJ I was using a treadmill daily, and generally much more active.
Luckily, the lack of energy has been my only significant side effect but it is concerning.

ElsieJay · 27/07/2025 09:32

@Seahorsesplendour - thanks for reminding me to find LWR on YouTube, I’ve heard a few recommendations for her.
Goal for today.
And congrats on those impressive NSVs !

SutekhsEars · 27/07/2025 10:06

@ElsieJay I'm trying to do some yoga most mornings. There are lots of 15 minute videos on YouTube - I prefer Yoga with Adrienne. It's got to be better than nothing, right?

Oysterblue · 27/07/2025 10:32

@FlorenceNightshade I’d recommend Boots Future Renew products. Read an article a while ago in the Guardian about how much ground breaking research had gone into their formulation. Can’t quite remember the details but something to do with peptides. I did think yes, same old same old as they all promise younger looking skin but in this case it really was quite noticeable within a few weeks of using the products (certainly on me!). They do a day cream, night cream and serum. Boots often do a 3 for 2 offer bringing down the price.

FlorenceNightshade · 27/07/2025 10:38

@Oysterblue ooh thanks for tip I’ll have a look!

@ElsieJay @SutekhsEars feeling knackered is one of the reasons I’m going to reduce my dose next week. I’m no where near as motivated as I usually am, I'm sleeping later than normal and just not feeling myself. I can cope with gastro type side effects if I have to but this exhaustion is just not for me! I hope you’re feeling more energised soon!

Thanks Agatha...you're right so NSW's this week that I should be focusing on. Much love ❤️

SutekhsEars · 27/07/2025 10:48

@FlorenceNightshade I'm also not sleeping well. Not sure if that's definitely the mounjaro or menopause, but it's probably contributing to my tiredness. It's so frustrating, it will probably be the thing that makes me stop mounjaro. ☹️

FlorenceNightshade · 27/07/2025 10:53

Oh no not sleeping properly is the worst! You don’t realise how sleep really impacts everything else until you’re not getting it!! Makes you appreciate it that’s for sure! What a shame I hope you have a breakthrough with it soon
