I noticed we were almost full (again!) so took the liberty of starting thread 5 now so I don’t get confused on nightshift and can’t find you all!

That’s being discussed on a thread.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 28/08/2025 21:47

Gosh I feel like death. 7.5mg does not like me. Blimey.
We are near ze end of the thread, can someone not dying of Mj flu set up a new one with a nod to our totes protes and fibre vibes sayings? Although, right now my whole body hurts and I'm so cold, I have no jaunty sayings up my sleeve.
Got my electric blanket on. Brrrr.

Thanks for the new thread, @FlorenceNightshade ! ⭐️
Aaaaah @DidILeaveTheGasOn , sorry you’re feeling rough - look after yourself and snuggle on the sofa, hope the side effects don’t last too long 💐.

Just back from WW - only 0.5lbs off , lowest loss to date. Did indulge on Sunday but had hoped to have mitigated that - so not sure if I need to go up a dose (still on 2.5) or whether one “former life”- type roast lunch and dessert actually does wreck a week of effort ?
Or have any of you stalled at this point ?
I’m six weeks in , will jab again on Monday.

Any advice warmly welcomed !

HKG · 29/08/2025 10:41

@ElsieJay hi! Sorry you’re a bit disappointed with the loss, I would feel similar after a weeks effort but hopefully it may ‘whoosh’ to next week? Equally, 0.5 is still the right direction so yay you!

Chatting to my pharmacist (the nice one not the unhelpful idiot) at the beginning she said to me that she’d be happy with me sticking at 5 for as long as it worked but that 2.5 was not a therapeutic dose as yet so recommended to me to go up. Obvs massive proviso that that’s just me so sharing in case helpful!

Kbr22 · 29/08/2025 11:03

I am the same losing very slowly but I am on 7.5 and I am not losing any more than I was on 5!

HereIGoOnceMore · 29/08/2025 11:34

@ElsieJayit’s a really personal decision, but it’s about balancing suppression against side effects so what works well for one person, won’t necessarily work as well for another.

The key thing is that if you are losing weight, going up a dose isn’t necessary, or going to lead to increased healthy weight loss.

If you are losing weight steadily and still have suppression, you can stay as you are. OTOH, if the suppression is no longer working, and you aren’t having significant side effects you can move up a dose.

ElsieJay · 29/08/2025 11:53

Thanks, everyone - no side effects, apart from occasional burps and nausea, but these are lessening over time.
Suppression day to day is fine, but was concerned at my ability to eat a full roast lunch, and have room for dessert ,at the weekend .
I don’t want to take more than the minimum dosage necessary to have a reasonable loss each week - of course, depends on your definition of “reasonable “ doesn’t it…..
I’d be happy with 1.5 - 2lbs per week, as feel anything less than that is probably achievable without MJ - and as I’m paying for it , I’d like to be reaping the benefits !
Losing another stone and a half would take me into the recommended range for my height and age, albeit at the larger end of the range which I’m quite happy with. It has to be sustainable.

HereIGoOnceMore · 29/08/2025 12:19

This tortoise is clinging to the belief that slow and steady will win out in the end too. I went into this looking to achieve sustainable weight loss and am resisting the urge to sprint ahead and risk making myself unwell.

AlicesMum2025 · 29/08/2025 15:44

Week 17 weigh in and have lost 1.4kg (3lb) this week. I think some of that is a lag from last week’s minimal loss but I’m happy either way. Total loss now is 22.9kg (3st 8.5 / 50.5 lbs).

I’ve been keeping up with the gym and I’m going to try walking netball this evening. I think I can remember the rules from school (which was a very long time ago) but I have no idea if I have the coordination to catch a ball nowadays. At least I don’t have to worry about running anywhere.

I’m hoping to lose 4st by 25th September when I have a big event happening at work. The thought of the physical effort of lugging my body around for the day was the final kick up the bum I needed to start MJ. It’s always a very busy, tiring day so I’m hoping it will be somewhat easier now that I’m a bit lighter. I think I can hit 4st by then.

Ultimately I want to lose by 5st by Xmas. My losses are starting to slow so I’m hoping that the addition of exercise along with changing my diet will keep things moving.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is just how much weight you have to lose when you are severely obese for any changes to be reflected in the mirror or smaller clothes sizes. I can tell I’ve lost weight on my belly, and I’m 2 sizes down on my top as a result, but my lower body is still the same. I wonder how long it will take for my bum and hips to get the weight loss message? I’m not looking for comments from other people, in fact they would make me very uncomfortable, but I would like to see some changes when I look in the mirror.
