Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

It’s great to read about everyone’s loss. According to my scales I’ve made 22% progress on my weight loss. Very interesting and motivating to see it beyond stones and lbs. I’m now coming to the end of my 4 weeks, my snacking had reduced to almost zero. I’m going to set a target for myself for the next 4 weeks to increase my steps and introduce weight training at least once a week. It feels easier already to do anything because I’m a bit lighter!

I agree with you! Ever % matters, the change I feel at the 5%+ loss of my i itail weight is noticeable.

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 28/08/2025 13:21

Did my second weigh in today and my third jab. I’ve lost 6.5lbs in two weeks so I’m pleased so far with that.
Im mainly interested to see how the next few weeks go because I usually have a plateau at this point and then only 0.5/1lb losses so let’s see if MJ can help change that normal trend!

TheArtfulCrow · 28/08/2025 13:45

Had a sneaky weigh in and Ive gained a lb despite tracking everything I eat, waking etc. My period has just left and I'm bloated so I hope it'll go down soon and its just that 🙃

Percentage is a great way to look at it. I've made 10% progress

I'm on W5 day 6 and I feel so hungry today. My stomach has been rumbling lots for the last few hours and I hadn't noticed it rumbling at all since starting monjouro. My second pen is 2.5mg so I'm wondering if I should have gone up a dose. I've made good food choices today and not had food noise but feel like I could have eaten huge portions today!

SweetDreamsAreMadeOfCheese87 · 28/08/2025 18:04

Unfortunately I’ve been priced out of continuing £200 for 5mg and £170 for 2.5 is just too much.
Once my second pen arrives and that’s done I’ll have to go it alone! I at least appreciate the boost this has given me! Hopeful I can continue to make good choices without then pen 😬❤️

Same here but on a 5mg pen. The last two days were awful. Not a lot of cravings for sweets despite a hugely stressful day.

jabbing tomorrow and I hope the hunger will die down again

Hello everyone
Well done on all your losses and your motivation.
Week 4 and final 2.5mg jab for me today, planning to move up to 5mg jab next week. Disappointed as weight has plateaued since last week, still on 97.5kg. I haven't eaten anything different, been having yogurt and berries for breakfast, protein and salad for lunch and smaller than usual portion of "normal" dinner. Have completely stopped snacking in the evenings. Hoped to lose more by now but besides 4.5kg overall loss (9.9lbs) I have now lost 2 inches off my bust, 2 inches off my waist and 3 inches off my hips, so feeling more comfortable in my clothes. Over the bank holiday weekend, I ran 8k, went swimming and went to a yoga class, so I've been more active (usually just walk my dogs, 10k daily). Hoping I might lose more next week on the higher dose.
SW: 102kg
CW: 97.5kg
TW: 90kg

anon2022anon · 28/08/2025 20:40

Has anyone else not had the food noise disappear?
I'm w1 d3/4, and although the food noise has quietened, I suppose, it's definitely still there. I'm finding I'm full quicker, so smaller portions, and it's a lot easier to say no to too many snacks, but I'm still wanting a snack so having one at the minute- I've just had 200 cals of chocolate and I had a couple of biscuits and a handful of crisps earlier.

I guess I'm hoping that some of you tell me that you didn't have major suppression during week 1, but you were feeling the benefits by week 2/3 🤞

I'm on W1 D6 and I have found the suppression to be lower than I expected but perhaps this is the influence of too much social media! Everyone on there seems to be 'oh I can't eat a thing' whereas I can certainly sit down and eat a big meal!

I am not snacking too much, I am only really having something if I'm going to exercise. I'm eating good meals but I do need to increase my protein/fibre. I joined a tracking/fitness app and they have set me at 2000 calories, which I am not achieving! But I think I can get closer if I add a bit more protein at lunch.

i have found it easier to make healthy choices and have found the constant thinking about food/ constant snacking (honestly, I'm sure I was always eating something!) has certainly decreased. I'm hoping it will stay that way!

reluctantbrit · 29/08/2025 08:38

Only 1/2lb off, lots of hunger on day 5-7 and I definitley have to check how much I eat.

Let's see how week 2 on 5mg will work out.

Wellfuckme · 29/08/2025 09:22

3rd dose of 2.5mg done today.

SW 18st 8lb
CW 18st 4lb
Not really snacking at all. Meals are hit and miss - I think I need to start meal planning.

sfraxx · 29/08/2025 09:42

Good morning,

SW January - 13st11.9lbs
SW mj - 12st3.7lbs
CW - 12st0.6lbs

ive lost 3lbs since Monday, although, I am struggling. I don’t seem to have such high suppression as I am meant to? I can still snack but have to stop myself. I can still eat a whole dinner etc.
this morning I woke up at 6am absolutely ravenous, so hungry I had to get up and have a drink of a chocolate protein drink just to take the feeling away.

im at work now and just drinking lots of water and trying to wait until break to have something to eat.

i have quite a sore tummy today, hoping i can get to the chemist today to try get something for it.

hope everyone is doing well x

peanutbutty · 29/08/2025 10:36

Morning all, I have my third jab tmrw. I woke up hungry for first time this morning, but now feel stuffed after eating something.

I also weighed myself and now lost 4kgs!! Maybe not surprising or sustainable as I was definitely below 1000 cals most days last week due to lack of planning. I'm really focussing on getting up to 1200cals this week. I do find that takes a bit of planning though so while appetite is mostly gone, I wouldn't say food noise is much quieter for me personally - I'm still having to think about food quite a lot in order to plan and make sure I'm eating quality protein, veg etc. I also still do find myself saying I want a bit of chocolate or crisps etc, and it's interesting to feel that now the contrast with physical hunger is so high, and really ask myself why I want it. I read on another thread about someone having to learn to sit with uncomfortable emotions while on MJ and I think that will be my experience too.

Thanks everyone for posting, it's great to learn from you all and watch yr progress.

RedPony1 · 29/08/2025 12:20

I'm W1 D5 and so far stayed away from scales.
i have good suppression and finding it easy, although having to think about food a lot as having to prepare food rather than go to Tesco for grab and go food!
but actual hunger suppression is good, not feeling the need to snack

jan2310 · 29/08/2025 12:32

I’ve just subscribed to the Shotsy app after seeing it mentioned on other threads on here. There is a free version which is good, but I’ve just decided to upgrade to the premium version (£29.99 Pa or £9.99 per month) as one of the things it shows is how much medication is in your system based on the data you enter.

i’m on W5 D3, and last took a 2.5mg jab on Weds. I’ve not had any side effects and low suppression. I’m not feeling particularly hungry but don’t feel full quickly when I do eat, if that makes sense. The app shows that at the moment I have 3.07mg of Mounjaro in my system, so it is cumulative.

You can get estimated level on the free version too. You need to pay to get the charts but the estimated level is on the first tab under jab history?

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 29/08/2025 13:10

W6 D1 jab taken - as I moved my jab day forward to the Friday last week. Sticking to a Tuesday weigh in but felt my first week of 3.75 went well and although suppression increased I still felt like eating for the most part with good choices and no snacking. Minor constipation on days 3 and 4 but has remedied itself and no other side effects.

Oops I probably didn’t need to pay!

About to do my first injection tonight. Stomach or thigh? Either way, i'm feeling SO nervous for what's to come 🫠

Good luck, I’m sure you will be fine. The thought is worse than the reality. I had some side effects for the first couple of days, but nothing unbearable.

I’m on week 5, have lost 11lb and don’t have a single regret.

I prefer stomach, did thigh the first time but found it's easier if you can actually grab a proper roll of flesh 😅The needles are shorter than I thought, so not too bad at all really. Good luck!

I alternate thighs. Did tummy once but found thighs easier! Good luck!
