Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

I'm on W1 D6, have actually had good suppression, only wanting to eat small meals and feeling full quickly but today I am very very hungry again. Anyone else similar in the couple of days leading up to the next injection?

Selfsaboteur · 15/08/2025 17:59

It was a bit different for me, suppression first 3 days, day 4+5 ravenous (got period, could be linked), day 6, 7, 8 zero not much appetite again.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 15/08/2025 18:03

@GLP1Girl@jan2310@mounjaringthanks for the reassurance. Ironically I’m feeling the best I have in a long time. Will report back after I call on Monday.

Lemon1111 · 15/08/2025 19:56

Is anyone thinking of switching to wegovy with the price increase?

Jean74 · 15/08/2025 17:26

I found some more detailed information about the price increases last night on another WLI thread on Mumsnet, which said that 5mg dose will increase to £180 list price, which is not great but not as bad as the £330 - it's the higher doses that will become much more expensive, the 2.5 and 5mg ones will be lower priced. I feel like lots of people on this thread are on 2.5 or 5mg? This was reported a bit irresponsibly by media yesterday. It does mean my 5mg one will be about £40 more than I'm currently paying but I think it's worth it and will cut back on something else to keep using it.

Here's the info I found: What are the new UK List Prices of Mounjaro?
Mounjaro®▼ (tirzepatide) KwikPen® Dose Updated UK List Price 2.5mg £133 5mg £180 7.5mg £255 10mg £255 12.5mg £330 15mg £330. I don't imagine going above 5mg so will try to manage the extra cost. Does anyone know can you go back down to 2.5 once you are on 5mg?

Morning! I started on Wednesday and it’s so lovely reading how well you are all doing. I’ve always been really active and never had a problem with my weight however 2025 has been horrific. My mum was diagnosed with early onset dementia. Everything in my life has had to take a back seat and as a result of spending hours driving back and forth to my mum my weight has really been impacted and I’m now deemed as ‘obese’.

My question is have you totally lost your appetite since starting? I’m hoping it wears off. I made a small bowl of granola this morning and can’t even face it.

Well done for doing something for you MrsSuu

Yes, D6 is the worst, I actually wake up hungry and need a snack if I am not careful with my breakfast.

I am on W4 now and because D5 also now starts with less suppression I will move to 5mg pen.

Really hoping to join this thread soon! I applied on monday and have just had a reply tonight to say my order is on hold :( they need more info, gutted! Everyone is doing so well which is really positive, makes me excited to start but this set back has put me in a right mood. Now i'll have to wait god knows how many days for them to review my reply (asda....very slow!) and give me the verdict 🫠

I think a lot of chemists are very slow at the moment because of the price increase and people bulk buying - people are jumping chemist etc to get multiple pens and it is slow for them and sadly going to hit people who aren't doing that just because of lack of resource.

JustPickleRick · 15/08/2025 21:57

Yeah i figured that would happen when I was reading the updates yesterday 🫠 every dose on the asda website bar 2.5mg is either sold out or only for returning customers. Thankfully, thats all I need though 😅

Pollypot25 · 15/08/2025 22:19

I tried to order my next pen ahead of the price increase but my provider (IQ Doctor) won’t let me order until 21 days from my first order. I started to get swept up with the panic (have you all been reading the other threads about the price increase? Quite a lot if squabbling on there!) and filled in various consultations with other chemists but in the end got cold feet with all of them and have decided to just take my chances that I will be able to manage the new prices. When I checked ChatGPT (which I do for everything now!) it said a few chemists had red flags for compliance so I just don’t want to take the risk. I thought long and hard over starting this and who I went with so I’m not ready to be cavalier about it now.

I’m W1D5 today and definitely started to feel a bit more hunger than in the first few days. I’ve tried to stick to smaller portions (using small bowls/plates) but could easily have eaten more. I’m actually looking forward to jab 2 to see how it affects me.

TheArtfulCrow · 16/08/2025 07:31

W3 D1 so its weigh in day.

SW: 14st 7lbs
CW: 13st 13lbs
GW: 10st

That's another 4lbs off this week. Very happy.

NeedSleepNow · 16/08/2025 07:41

W4 D1 today for me. I've just weighed myself and I've lost another few pounds this week, giving me a a total loss of 13lbs so far since starting which I'm delighted with.

I've chosen to stick at 2.5 for my next pen but am wondering if I should have gone up a dose as my suppression this last week seemed less than the week before and by day 5 I was a lot hungrier. I think after the next pen I will have to move up a dose.

jan2310 · 16/08/2025 08:14

Well done on the impressive weight losses! I will
do my week 4 weigh in on Tues. I’ve lost 7lb so far but I’m ok with that.

im definitely not feeling as much suppression now so I decided to go for 5 next time, although I’m now feeling nervous about it and wondering if I should have stayed on 2.5. I love the sensation of eating less and being in control but I’m not sure if I want to not feel like eating at all.

I ordered my next pen on Weds morning, before the price increase news. I’ve lots of messages about delayed orders and I was concerned as I’m going away for a few days next week but it’s coming today

NeedSleepNow · 16/08/2025 08:30

@jan2310 that's good yours is arriving on time, I'm a bit worried mine won't get get here by the end of next week when I need it. I stuck with asda who I used before and they are saying it is now taking 5-6 days to approve each other. If it doesn't arrive I'll either have to take the next dose late or try to use what's left in the last pen.

I had several messages from Med Express saying orders were delayed and I was worried as I’m going away, but mine was despatched last night and is arriving today. I’m relieved. Hopefully yours will arrive in time. I think a lot of providers are sending out very general messages at the moment.

Hellenicnim · 16/08/2025 13:14

Well done on the losses everyone. I took my 4th injection last night and weighed this morning 0.9 kg off for a total of 7.9kg. (Such a good loss but part of me is like just another 0.1 and it would be a round number!)

I have a 5mg pen ready to start next week, (my supplier seems to send out qt week 3 which im sort of glad about in current climate) but probably going to get the golden dose out of my 2.5 first. I bought insulin needles for it as didn't want to risk not getting the right dose with the pen twist - which doesnt always work apparently.

LnicMJ · 16/08/2025 14:33

Hey everyone! Im new to both MN and MJ, taking my first jab tomorrow but just wanted to jump on and say thanks for posting as its good to see how everyone else is doing and well done to all! Wish me luck this next week x

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 16/08/2025 16:57

Hi can I join please?
I took my first dose two days ago and I feel nothing? No side effects and I don’t think any suppression either!
Did anyone else have this? Please tell me it will kick in soon?!!!

Yes, i didn't feel anything until day 3. I'm coming to the end of my 2nd week and it has cut my appetite but I still think about food so the whole "food noise" thing is still a battle. I have now lost about 9lb. It is an aid to me cutting portion size and getting back into healthier habits. (Wish it was the magic jab that all the very anti brigade seem to think it is!!)

DandelionPockets · 16/08/2025 17:06

End of week 3 weigh in and I'm down a total of 9.5lbs. Happy with that!

I need to lose 15 more pounds to squeek into the healthy bmi bracket. Overall goal is to lose another 30 pounds. Seems mad that I could be there within 4 months.

DandelionPockets · 16/08/2025 17:09

What exercises are people doing along with the calorie decrease?

I've started pilates (again) every other morning and sticking well with it. I think I need to somehow find time to also get more walking/jogging in. So hard though with a full time job and 2 year old!!

Thanks that’s helpful, I’m not sure what I was expecting but definitely I thought I would ‘feel’ something even sickness!
Im trying to just eat a bit less and focus on good foods but really hoping for some suppression just to get me through this journey!!!

Do you think about food as much though? I still think about it too, but not as often and not as intensely

I’m also doing Pilates too. I love running but I’m struggling with the heat and finding the time at the moment. It’s a lovely way to just get some head space and switch off x
