Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

Ordered my initial batch with Morrisons but because I ordered a 2 x 2.5 bundle I can’t reorder yet

I’ve ordered a 1x2.5 and 1x 5 bundle with asda. Wonder if they are under the same umbrella and will rumble me 🤣

This stuff keeps unopened for a while doesn’t it?

Might try and order elsewhere aswell but it’s a lot of money to tie up…

Dammit I wish I’d done this a few months ago instead of dilly dallying.

I need to order my next one in the next day or two. I was tempted by asda's bundle (I ordered my last pen from asda) but we're staying with family at the moment and I haven't told anyone I'm using monjouro so I can't easily store it in their fridge. Think I better order just one to start using straight away so that I don't need to put it in the fridge and then put up with a higher price for the pen after that

mounjaring · 14/08/2025 20:40

My concern about bulk buying is I really don't know how long I'll be on a certain dose

im hoping to stay on 2.5mg as long as i can, id rather not up the dose unless there's a real need

if you buy tonnes of 2.5mg what happens if you need to up the dose

ita probably me being a cynic, but wouldnt it be a surprise if this turns out to be a massive marketing ploy to up sales and get the product loads of attention

Same. I really don't think they will double the price, they would lose too many customers. It will probably end up being more like 1/3 increase.

ASD accepts paypal pay in 3 at least, so I will stretch the payments if it goes up..

abitscaredarentI · 14/08/2025 23:14

I'm thinking of ordering an extra 5mg pen, but maybe sjust doing half doses to save up on it. Otherwise yeah it was a short lived miracl :(

abitscaredarentI · 14/08/2025 23:18

On another note I'm on w4d2. 24 hours after the 4 th jab, I got a rash at the injection site, itchy like a mosquito bite. Anyone else?

I wondered about that but what about the 30day use by? Or is that just manufacturers being overly safe?

Morning! I started on Wednesday and it’s so lovely reading how well you are all doing. I’ve always been really active and never had a problem with my weight however 2025 has been horrific. My mum was diagnosed with early onset dementia. Everything in my life has had to take a back seat and as a result of spending hours driving back and forth to my mum my weight has really been impacted and I’m now deemed as ‘obese’.

My question is have you totally lost your appetite since starting? I’m hoping it wears off. I made a small bowl of granola this morning and can’t even face it.

timestressed · 15/08/2025 10:55

@MrsSuuit fluctuates for me. I get peckish from day 5 but not enough to gorge on food.

I had a hot itchy patch at the injection site on the first jab, I think it was probably a reaction to the liquid from the jab getting on my skin as it hasn't happened since (done 3 jabs now in total).

The first time I jabbed I was nervous and managed to bend the needle a bit and forgot to keep it 'stuck in' for a count of 5. When I pulled it out some of the fluid from the jab leaked back out along with a few drops of blood, which I wiped off. Shortly after a red weal came up, about 2 inches by 1 inch, hot and a bit itchy. It took two or three days to fade.

AsteriaBuffy · 15/08/2025 11:10

@MrsSuu I'm on Week 3 now, and found the appetite suppression strongest during Week 1, probably days 2-4? There were a few things I couldn't stomach such as fizzy drinks.

Weeks 2 was less suppression overall, especially days 5-7. So far (Week 3 D2) I've got some suppression but no side effects, and can eat and drink pretty much anything I normally have, just in smaller amounts. This does seem to vary a lot between people though. Good luck!

I’ve been wracking my brains and price increases in fairly sure won’t end being as dramatic as we think (I hope). I think i can stretch to about £200 per month. Price aside I keep thinking about health and weight and stuff. I wouldn’t mind putting on a credit card for that long term health gain.

This is exactly how it is for me. I’m on W3D4. I feel absolutely fine now. I don’t feel hungry but when I do eat I’m able to eat normally, I’m just focussing on smaller portions.

Redlightbulb · 15/08/2025 13:20

This is so upsetting.
My provider (Medicine Market Place) are now £271 for a 15mg pen. They were £145 before so that is a £126 increase.
I am lucky that I have enough confirmed doses to take me up to the New Year.
Shamelessly I have 5 pens on order. 1 of which is approved awaiting despatch.
By a miracle I am hoping that they will all be honoured and that will hopefully take me up to middle of next year where I should be at goal or very close.
I might stretch the pens out by reducing the dose to 10mg.

HighlandCauliflower · 15/08/2025 17:08

Hi, would like to join you please.

Ive only read the first 3 pages so far, will try and find time to read up to date.

I'm taking my first dose tonight, I'm feeling a little nervous about getting it wrong.

I really hope this helps me, I've always been up and down the sizes for years, able to lose the weight but not keep it off, but since I've become peri-menopausaul I can't seem to shift any weight.

luvabellawilleatme · 15/08/2025 17:17

good luck HighlandCauliflower! I have literally just taken my first dose!

mounjaring · 15/08/2025 17:20

I'm wondering when this week is going to give me a break, infection, Covid, antibiotics and a period now ffs!!!

I have to say though, in the past I'd have found solace in a biscuit barrel and this week nothing is getting in my way, aside from inflammation

Just had a text asking me to contact the GP practice.
We have been informed by your private provider that you are using weight loss injections. These may have an impact on the effectiveness of your HRT to adequately protect your endometrium (womb lining). Please contact the Practice Pharmacist or Nurse for a telephone review so that we can discuss potential alternatives.

Feeling nervous as I went to a private nurse led prescriber in person to try and ensure I was doing the right thing. I am post menopausal and use patches, the prescriber said only an issue with oral progesterone. Will call on Monday.

I was also told patches are ok

in fact when I asked my gp she said she knew so little about MJ she couldn't comment

its oral progesterone according to all the drug contraindication websites

Jean74 · 15/08/2025 17:26

I found some more detailed information about the price increases last night on another WLI thread on Mumsnet, which said that 5mg dose will increase to £180 list price, which is not great but not as bad as the £330 - it's the higher doses that will become much more expensive, the 2.5 and 5mg ones will be lower priced. I feel like lots of people on this thread are on 2.5 or 5mg? This was reported a bit irresponsibly by media yesterday. It does mean my 5mg one will be about £40 more than I'm currently paying but I think it's worth it and will cut back on something else to keep using it.

That’s interesting. I’m on week 3 and have had some bleeding. I’m on gel and oral progesterone. Maybe I will need to switch to patches. Useful info, thank you.

on another note, in week 3 I’m definitely not feeling much suppression. I’ve been hungry today but managed through willpower as I realise that at the end of this when I’ve lost weight that’s what I’ll have to do. The last couple of weeks has taught me that I really can manage on eating less. It’s not easy though and I’m looking forward to my next jab!

Oh, that’s interesting! I don’t really want to go over 5mg anyway.

Also, today we’re out and about in Hastings and trying to eat an oyster and bloody mixed seafood when you’re feeling a bit nauseous from mj is not the one. Protein at least 😆

Hi, having had my second dose today, I wonder if anyone had a similar symptom. I developed mild flu symptoms within hours of the first dose (2.5) which mostly disappeared after a couple of days but a week later still experiencing dry cough/irritated throat, not sore or swollen, and postnasal drip. This could be unrelated but unusual for me. Can anyone relate?

It’ll be to make sure that you’re covered from a progestogen perspective.

There’s advice form the BMS. No worries
