Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

Jab 3 done. It's a day early as I'm away, but I have noticed I was getting more peckish yesterday. I made a hefty lentil soup for dinner the other night and it's still going strong. Ended up having a small pack of mcoys and some cheese last night as a snack. It was fine... halfway through I was like... mmm didn't need this.

I am yet to eat yet as I've been running around like a loon packing for our trip. It actually makes it easier in some respects being away as we're reliant on restaurants and I'm really able to work out what I want now. We've got a curry on Sunday so thinking carefully about what I'll have (who am I kidding it'll be chicken tikka).

I'll see how these next.... 3/4 jabs go and then decide whether to tirate or not.

Starting weight in kg was 92.4kg, today I'm 89.6kg... period happened as well.
2.8kg, that's a little over 6lbs. Happy with that for the first two weeks.

Apparently that's 3% of my bodyweight too! I also noticed this morning, that the scale didn't go down from a couple of days ago, but my body fat percentage did. Definitely feeling "slimmer" too. I do think I suffer with inflammation a lot as well.

I'm SO happy to see all these new people as well. @IncapableButEnthusiastic you even joined mumsnet for this! Hopefully we can all help keep each other company and accountable. That sucks about the CD. My daughter had that (and a trip to A&E) after a nit treatment. Fingers cross it will pass. <3

Actually feeling quite hungry! Though the sensation of hunger feels slightly different.

Watching some YouTube videos by Dr Emma Anders, those that I’ve seen are encouraging and informative.

She's really good! I love how she's obsessed with running now as well.

Is everybody measuring as well as weighing?

I've lost an inch off my 'waist' and also around my belly after 7 days, despite only losing 1.5 lbs. Very pleased at this as my pot belly is my most hated result of weight gain - I was always very bottom heavy but pre-meno at least had a flattish tummy. Apparently monjaro works well on visceral fat so fingers crossed.

Yes I’ve got the RENPHO scales and measuring tape so I can see it all in one place. I’ve never measured before so it will be interesting to see. Excellent news that you have already lost an inch!

I’ve been reading through the thread and I hope I can join in.

Day 1 for me today on Mounjaro. I’m 96kg which is just massive for my height of 163cm but I really want to make a change this year as I’m heading fast towards 50.

I’m very excited to join in on this thread and to have others who are on the journey too.

Maplebean · 07/08/2025 16:55

Really surprised by the amount of nausea and food aversion I’ve had today on day 6 of lowest dose. Have felt quite unwell and unable to eat much at all. I would of thought it would be less now than a few days ago.

timestressed · 07/08/2025 18:39

Ugh! Heartburn after getting stressed at something trivial at work. And I run out of Gaviscon.

It is the worst!

Rorpethy · 07/08/2025 19:48

Hi can I join please? This is actually my second time on MJ. I started last year but I only did one pen then gave up because of side effects. Nothing major, just lot of low level stuff. I was starting a new, very physical job and definitely wouldn't have been able to do it with the exhaustion caused by MJ. I also got headaches, constipation, knee pain and body aches, especially in my legs and anxiety.

I did lose a stone in the 5 weeks I was on MJ and then I found it really easy to carry on the good eating habits I'd developed and lost a further 1.5 stone 'by myself'. A year later and I've put nearly a stone on so I'm trying again even if it's just to reset my habits again.

I'm on day 2 and the exhaustion and body aches has hit. Hope you all enjoyed my life story there 🤣

Rorpethy · 07/08/2025 19:50

Sorry me again! With sulphur burps, are you aware of them smelling? Just because I've been burping constantly but they feel just like normal burps but reading that many of you have been getting them has made me paranoid!

MounjaroJourney29 · 07/08/2025 19:51

Hi everyone! Enjoying reading through all the posts, so excited to get started!! I had my first jab last night and I felt less hungry than usual but this afternoon/evening I’ve felt the hunger creeping back in. Has anyone else had this? Really trying to be strong as the evenings are usually my downfall 🫠

mounjaring · 07/08/2025 20:17

Ok so day 1 and feel a bit "wet of mouth" not nausea but something, it's been about 6 hours and I am incredibly achey in my limbs

i do have an autoimmune condition and take a Biologic, Taltz (which is a sister product of Mounjaro by Eli Lilly)

i suppose could be the combination of the two meds, feel like an early night and sleeping through it might be for the best

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 07/08/2025 20:34

Sat down to a really tasty meal this evening and full after 4 bites 🙈.

Daftmum47 · 07/08/2025 21:08

I’m disappointed to find I’m really hungry - but it’s a funny kind of hunger, like only in part of my stomach. And not feeling faintheaded or irritable with DC, as would usually be the case when I’m doing a calorie deficit.

NeedSleepNow · 07/08/2025 21:47

@Rorpethy K've been having a lot of burps too but not aware of them being sulphur ones. Hopefully they're just normal ones and it's not just that I can't smell them. When you stopped last time, did you find your appetite just went back to normal/food noise returned? I'm hoping to have broken my bad food habits by the time I'm ready to stop the jabs but I do worry what it will be like when I stop them as my willpower isn't great and I was eating terribly before

Food noise/hunger did return to normal levels but it was gradual. And it was easier to ignore as I had good habits in place. I was doing amazingly for a good few months then I decided to take a 2 week diet break for Christmas and then struggled to get back to it. I really wish I hadn't taken the break and honestly think I'd have kept going for much longer if I hadn't. I haven't explained that very well but hopefully makes sense.

timestressed · 07/08/2025 22:55

@mounjaringhave some electrolytes, this is like keto flu, I guess you drqnkmlots of water

I've drunk more today than I ever have, probably about 6 pints of water, I reckon it would be much worse had I not drunk so much!

Shiny88 · 07/08/2025 23:11

today is day 3 for me. Awful headache / optical migraine. Can’t put that down to the jab though as I do get these from time to time and I have driven for 5 hours today, Hunger suppression is less than yesterday.
i keep seeing horror stories pop up about MJ and eye sight it’s making me so worried 😅

That’s amazing loss in 2 week!
I had a chicken tikka last night and I could barely eat it was gutted as it tasted amazing 😂

Hi everyone!
First dose today. I'm super excited to be doing this. I've got loads to lose so will be on here for a good while but it'll be so worth it.

I think quite a few of us are in the same boat - welcome aboard!

TheArtfulCrow · 08/08/2025 00:01

W1 D5 for me, first time I've had any cravings creeping up on me. Feeling a bit more hungry now but still sticking to a decent diet. Second jab will be on Saturday so will see how it goes.

Lemon1111 · 08/08/2025 07:59

Hi hope i can join? I took my first jab yesterday night and feel ok, not hungry but I never tended to eat breakfast anyway, I’m a terrible snacker and definitely overeat things like pasta. I had my son 16 months ago by emergency section and since then the weigh and self loathing has piled on. I just want to be able keep up with him. ♥️

NeedSleepNow · 08/08/2025 08:03

I've just weighed myself at the end of my second week. I've lost 2lbs this week so a total of 9lb so far. I've had a few days out where I've had a piece of cake or an ice cream this week so probably could have lost a little more if I'd been very strict. I'll do my next jab this afternoon.
