Just on a Teams call with my boss and quite unprovoked he said I was looking thinner! He knows I'm trying to lose weight and that I'm on mounjaro.

I'm going to have to marry him aren't I?

I'm sure DH won't mind, we've been married 30 odd years.

SilenceInside · 03/07/2025 12:18

Props to your boss, @GnomeDePlume , for noticing your weight loss and for mentioning it to you without making it weird.

Congratulations to @WafflingDreamer , @GnomeDePlume , @Lds1 and @TragicMuse for your losses this week.

@Iwouldratherbesinging the holiday pictures are stunning, and congratulations on your NSV too!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/07/2025 12:23

I've also lost 1lb this week, bringing me down to:

12st 7lb today

I started at 20st 2lb way back in January 2024.

Total loss 7st 9lb

And I'm still obese, rather than overweight.........

OP posts:
GnomeDePlume · 03/07/2025 13:31

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne the margin on 'overweight' rather than obese is so narrow. At my height it's about 2 stone. You will probably power through it and barely notice.

I know 'obese' is used medically to mean having too much fat but it also has social connotations which can be quite othering.

afaloren · 03/07/2025 13:48

Well done everyone on the losses and NSVs! Especially cheering on those who have tipped over/are close to a boundary, whether that’s the next stone or on the BMI chart.

I’ve just ordered my next pen and it’s been dispatched. Staying on 5mg for now as the suppression is so strong, also as recommended by my GP.

What do you do with empty pens? I’ve got a sharps box for the needles but wondering about the pens themselves. Seems terrible for the environment to just chuck them.

mamabeeboo · 03/07/2025 14:30

Hi everyone, just catching up and so happy and excited for everyone experiencing NSVs and all the others. I actually have one.

I was going through a few things to throw out in the house and I came across my food diary...it's actually quite depressing to see. My weight >> weight gain >> blank.

I just gave up.

Considering I am now 55lbs less than the weight I put here, is just an eye opener. I'm taking this as a victory - HOPE!

I've been throwing them as I wasn't sure what else to do. I saw a recycling box in Boots pharmacy the other day for wegovy and ozempic pens. I believe it's run by Novo Nordisk so I'm unsure if they would accept Mounjaro pens. They have little pouches to take home for empty pens. I should have asked the pharmacist if they'd accept Mounjaro but I chickened out.

PearlsPearl · 03/07/2025 16:43

@mamabeeboo that's a great victory. The days of dieting misery are hopefully long behind you (and me and all of our thread mates).

I have had family staying here and they brought with them tons of treats. All of my favourites it seems. After no treats whatsoever for 5/6 weeks I've now been having little ones here and there... a Lindt here, a biscuit there. And I feel miserable about it as I know I'm not hungry at all, it's just a willpower thing and it's snuck back in. It's not the food noise really, just so tempting.

They're leaving tomorrow and I'm making them take everything with them.

UsernameShmusername2024 · 03/07/2025 18:49

Hi all, after some opinions please. I'm 20 weeks into MJ - did 4 weeks on 2.5mg, 4 weeks on 5mg and since then 7.5mg. I have another 7.5mg pen waiting to start but I've definitely noticed food noise creeping back in over the last few weeks, my sweet tooth has returned, I'm hungry a lot more etc.

So really I'd go up to 10mg but a couple of things are stopping me - firstly, I'm still around 21st so got a long way to go and I've been hoping to really max out lower doses as I'm worried about getting to 15mg too quickly and then having nowhere to go. Also, since I have a full 7.5mg pen I'd have to do something creative to start on 10mg now (would probably do 60 + 20 clicks and accept its only lasting me 3 weeks rather than mess about with syringes). I go abroad on holiday in 5 weeks and don't want to start 10mg just before I go in case of side effects or really strong suppression that would mean I didn't enjoy my holiday. So unless I'm not going to increase for at least 6 weeks then I want to do it now to be more used to it.

Grateful for any experiences especially from people further along who've been on the higher doses for a long time - biggest worry is 15mg stopping working before I'm anywhere near goal as this really has been a miracle drug for me (as I know it has lots of us!) and I could never have lost the weight so far without it.

Doggymummar · 03/07/2025 20:08

From what I've read over the last two years and a half years on WLI it's not the dose that gives the weightloss. It's the calorie deficit. I whizzed up the levels every four weeks, as that's what my provider advised. Been in 15 since before Christmas and it still works the same for me. But what I also learned is we are all different and you need to do what works for you, in conjunction with your medical team

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/07/2025 20:11

@UsernameShmusername2024

I've been on 15mg for months and months and it's been fine. Absolutely no problem.

I'm even thinking about going down to 12.5mg and back to 10mg, because there's some evidence that 10mg is as effective as 15mg (and obviously it's cheaper).

I'm going to discuss it with the pharmacist at Medino (my provider) to see what he thinks.

I mean, I still pay attention to what I eat, and I still find I have very good suppression.

I’ve been out for dinner! I was really in the mood for some fish so chose that. I did the thing we were talking about a few days ago of eating the vegetables first, then the fish, and then ate a couple of potatoes and left the rest.

And then had a scoop of ice cream!

Still within my calories for the day after a lovely evening!

My friends really noticed the 3 stone lost which was most gratifying.

Hurrah. Downwards we go!!

Hi new thread. I went out shopping with my mam today and into Next and Primark and just thought... maybe soon one day I'll actually be able to shop in them. Seems unlikely but I have to remind myself I'm 4 stone down so it's hopefully coming! I'm 18 stone now but still wearing my size 24 clothes. I'm short too.

Do you do any exercise?
I found exercise didn’t help me with the actual weight loss but it has started to help me tone up a bit so I can start to see the inch loss

Iwouldratherbesinging · 03/07/2025 22:31

@UsernameShmusername2024 i felt exactly the same as you with 7.5mg, I ordered a second 7.5mg pen and regretted it, I took one dose out of the second pen then made the subsequent doses up to 10mg. For my next pen I ordered a 10mg which meant I had longer than 4 weeks on 10mg but that was fine. I’ve been on 15mg for 4 months now and it’s still working as expected and I’m not expecting anything to change. I think it can play on your mind when you read the ‘I won’t have anywhere to go’ lines, but if you read the studies you’ll realise that’s not quite right. I’m still losing an average of 2lbs a week which is brilliant.

That’s interesting about the 15mg & the 10 mg
i couldn’t get 12.5 mg from my supplier last month so I had to order another 10mg pen, I’ve had good losses on 10, I’ve just had to order again and I’ve ordered 12.5 as it was in stock this time!
I’ve still got 4 more doses of 10, before I start the 12.5, I’m interested now on seeing how I do on 12.5! If I don’t lose much I’ll go back to 10!

10mg has seemed to be my happy dose as up until then I’ve not really had many good losses

Me too! I had salmon and veg, it came with rice but it was too spicy for me. Then I had half a frozen custard.

So nice to be able to go out for dinner and not blow it all out of the water.

PloopDeck · 03/07/2025 23:03

Hi my lovelies, took my first golden dose just now, so my 5th jab in total and I have to say I actually felt the needle less than the pen! So that’s a massive relief. Forgot to weigh before dinner today so I’ll weigh in tomorrow morning. I’ll be happy for even a pound loss, as weight hasn’t moved much at all in the last few weeks, but I feel so much better and have more energy, so I’m taking that as the win this week! 🙌🏼

Does that mean that you started a month ago and on most weeks you haven't lost anything?

First week was 12lbs, second week 2lbs, third week 1lb and then this week it’s been back up a 1lb then down to even again. Hopefully when I weigh tomorrow I’ll have lost that 1lb properly and maybe surpass it.

Doggymummar · 04/07/2025 07:03

So, over a stone in a month @PloopDeck that's a lot. Fingers crossed 🤞 for a loss today. I am still working my notice for my main job, which is horrible 😭 if you are ever in a position to need to lose headcount from your business pls treat people with dignity and let them choose their exit. But I volunteer as a charity fundraiser on A Friday working with lots of charities around my area and today we are at the Waldorf Astoria in London. I'll be getting the train shortly. It's a beautiful day and I have a gorgeous Ralph Lauren dress to wear ( £10 from Whatnot) and some hopefully not too frumpy gold sandals from Hotter which are great for steps. I remember last year being a hot mess on the tube so today I hope to arrive home a little less disheveled. Have a great day folks.

afaloren · 04/07/2025 08:11

3.5lb off this week! Absolutely delighted.

I’ve actually eaten more this week because my doctor said my blood sugar was too low so I’ve really been pushing myself even when I’m not hungry at all.

Also: I am over 100lb down from my heaviest Grin 102.4 to be exact! ‘Only’ 105.5 to go!

Happy Friday losers.

GnomeDePlume · 04/07/2025 08:55

@Doggymummar it is horrible working your notice when being made redundant. I had to do that after 22 years working for one employer. It made me realise, in my case, that it was really a 'face doesn't fit' situation rather than genuine redundancy.

I am sure you will look stunning at the event.

Congratulations to everyone for their losses, big and small.

Tomorrow treating DM to afternoon tea for her birthday. DDs and I are going to take food to her and we have booked out the private dining room in her care home. She doesn't have a big appetite so I have ordered a waitrose sandwich platter and some fruit kebabs. DDs are making sausage rolls and brownies both of which are worth crossing continents for.

Fingers are crossed that DM is on reasonable form. Dementia is a sod.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 04/07/2025 09:00

Realised I hadn’t checked in on the new thread.

8 weeks in and 24lb lighter here, struggling with SE on 5mg though so am going to drop back to 2.5mg till it settles and then probably increase more gradually via 3.75mg.

Not feeling any thinner though, no change in clothing fit etc, hopefully soon and I find myself looking at the chart in my app and it doesn’t feel ‘real’.

i was also let go from my job of over 20 years this month but luckily didn’t have to work notice. Looking back now my health issues have just spiralled the last couple of years and with perimenopause also I just didn’t have the energy or the mental capacity to cut it which makes me really sad but I guess a new future is ahead. For now I’m focusing on health improvement and time with the almost adult kids as I have a few months breathing space with the redundancy money.
