Hi @AlicesMum2025 I fully understand your turning the workout off because they weren't in time with the music. It's something I wouldn't cope with, either.

I go to a club once a week, where we drink a lot of tea, eat cakes and generally enjoy ourselves. The organiser also puts in some physical activity, but has zero sense of rhythm.

One week, she showed us an exercise in 4/4 time, but played music to accompany it in 3/4 time.

I had to leave the room.
🤣

OMG, I couldn't!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think my body would even cooperate.

My other issue is when you get told to do 10 reps when the music only fits 8!

Don't even get me started on clapping off the beat (unless syncopated).

PinkArt · 01/08/2025 13:12

So jealous of your bendiness @AlicesMum2025! Even when I was a little kid my mum had to ask if I'd be allowed in to gym club as I have always had the flexibility of a sedentary octogenarian 😂

Sorry, but that really made me laugh!

I think flexibility is the only thing to have lasted the almost 30 years since I gave up my dance career

AlicesMum2025 · 01/08/2025 14:02

@Billybingbong oh no, please be careful. I'd feel terribly guilty if you (or anyone) hurt themselves because of what I said. Yoga or pilates might be good but I can't do it currently because I can't get up and down on the floor due to my weight.

I've never checked to see if I have the splayed stance (I know what you mean by that) but I do have a waddle, rocking from side to side with each step. It's mortifying when I look at the footage on our driveway camera from when I take the dog for a walk. Possibly partly due to a bad knee but I'm sure my thick thighs don't help.

GnomeDePlume · 01/08/2025 14:06

Something I am (only mildly) disappointed by is that despite now being in the 16 stones zone I am still a size 26.

I know why it is, I am carrying an awful lot of the excess weight around my middle and back. My legs, arms and neck/face have all lost a lot of weight. It is my body which steadfastly refuses to shed the inches.

At this rate I shall hit goal weight but look like a stick man wearing a barrel.

AlicesMum2025 · 01/08/2025 14:16

@PearlsPearl I'm so pleased to hear that you are happy with your PT. I hope I will be too, once I learn to cope with the early mornings!

Thanks for saying you're proud of me. I don't hear that very often and it means a lot.

Fffreeeeezing · 01/08/2025 14:18

@AlicesMum2025 maybe you're hyper mobile like me? I'm ridiculously bendy, could still put my palms flat on the floor at over 25.5st, my joints all bend both directions which has contributed to my knackered knee!

I've done a weekly PT class for years and while it has had no impact on my weight, I am fairly strong (we lift pretty heavy weights now) and I'd like to think it's why my clothes size has stayed relatively low for my weight (still huge obviously, that isn't some weird stealth brag🤣 and that might be in my imagination!)

Not sure I could do 7am though, I'm so not a morning person, good luck with it!

OMG she does that, too.
Just randomly clapping, and hurting my musically perfect brain.

I don't understand how some people have zero sense of rhythm, but obviously they just don't!

To be fair, there are a great many things which I don't understand, so I daresay there are people who think I'm an idiot because (for example) I don't understand why planes stay up in the air.

But rhythm and pitch? I'm your girl.

Oooh, feeling inspired by all the exercise talk. I’ve been doing over 10k steps a day this last week taking my son to a work experience thing - which is huge for me given I’m still recovering from ankle reconstruction surgery - but want to get going with something new after that finishes as I am feeling like I have a bit more energy. I am also hypermobile which is a bit of a mixed blessing, my ankles are particularly weak (freak accident fall aside) as things extend beyond where they are supposed to and cause other issues.

NSV this week : I was sent for a DEXA (bone density) scan this week after the fracture and it has showed my bone density is ‘above average’ for my age which I am strangely proud of 😂

End of week 12 WI today, SW 140kg (22 st) CW 125.2kg (19 st 10)
After having a bit of a plateau in July and then holidays, I have suddenly lost 5lb this week!

I am still struggling with gastric side effects alas, basically yo-yo between consitpation and diarrhoea with stomach aches etc much of the time. Going back to 2.5mg for a couple of weeks now hasn’t sorted it but did make me really hungry so I’ve decided to try 3.75mg for a few weeks - if I’m going to have the side effects either way, I may as well get a bit more suppression. It’s frustrating though as I could put up with this on a temporary basis but as for us all, I’m going to be at least a year needing to do this.

I’ve tried taking nexium, probiotics, I am eating super clean so not sure what to try next really. None of the side effects are really extreme or stop me eating and drinking so I don’t think it’s harmful but it’s not ideal.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/08/2025 15:53

Talking of exercise, DD and I have gone swimming every week for ages now.

It's the school holidays so the pool isn't as peaceful as usual. We've rather got used to having it to ourselves, and yesterday we had to share it with a bunch of ten year old boys. Oh well they were enjoying themselves..........

But roll on another fortnight. They'll be back at school, and DD and I can carry on pretending that we own a swimming pool.

There was a recent Zoe study that found that prebiotics are better for gut health than probiotics. Zoe sell the supplement that was used study (either direct or at Waitrose) but it is very expensive. I found a similar product at m&s called gut booster mix for £6. I add a sprinkle to houmous, soup, bolognese etc and after a few weeks I do feel like my stomach is more settled.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/08/2025 15:58

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 have you tried famotidine?

You can get them without a prescription. I also swig Peptac liquid.

Thanks @Janie934 and @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne , I will have a look at both of those.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/08/2025 16:14

Well done everyone! I'm really impressed with those of you doing PT or going to the gym. I started an at home programme (Rebelfit) which involves uploading videos when is terrifying but currently manageable.

I weighed in today. Officially saw the 16 stone bracket in a weigh in. I've been bouncing around the same rough area for what feels like forever (probably 2-3weeks!). And I'm wanting all the food. I'm hoping it's a phase but am on week 2 of this pen so thinking of going up to 10. I

NSV. Went on a couple of roller coasters today!!!! And I am still in awe I hva mobility now - I've walked around the park absolutely fine. I've needed a sit through overwhelm but not from lack of mobility. It's so weird walking around somehwre I used to struggle and clocking the benches I used to need and remembering the constant working out of how far things were and how long it would take etc. It's like seeing the same place through new eyes. My poor husband it must be frustrating for him not being able to just walk places with me.

But the ride photos. 🙈. I'm still so huge.. It's so strange, I'm 2lb off a 5 stone loss which I could only have dreamed of initially. On many groups 5atone would be celebrated as an incredible loss and you'd be lower end of your healthy bmi.... And yet I'm still here very obese with nearly 6stone to go to a healthy bmi. It feels it messes with mind quite a bit.

I'm very tired. This could be life or it could be MJ weightloss... Who knows!

Bulldogsummer · 01/08/2025 16:29

Very tired here to
Despite being 7and a half stone down ,I could sleep all day and all night .
I'm uping the vitamins and increasing protein,I'm taking electrolytes and potassium and so much water .
I often do OMAD as well
I think that's helped me a lot
That way I can have a good meal of whatever I fancy ,within reason,of an evening.
I find I eat much cleaner doing this

Iwouldratherbesinging · 01/08/2025 18:47

I had an amazing (for me) day today, had to go dress shopping for a double christening on Sunday, I went in shops that I wouldn’t have dared step in, dragged took the kiddos with me for honest opinions. Currently I’m buying cheap clothes and at the weight I am now, I said I was a 20 top and an 18 bottom, but omg, in river island, jules, whitestuff and mango I’m a bloody 16! I started off tentatively trying 18s but they looked too big! I’m absolutely flabbergasted, surely they can’t all be ‘vanity’ sizes. I’ve dropped 8 dress sizes as I was wearing Evans 30/32 in 2020!
Ended up with a beautiful white floral dress from Joules, to celebrate I also bought some lovely navy and pink adidas gazelles.
Im currently on a bit of a high

PearlsPearl · 01/08/2025 18:49

@mamabeeboo I like the idea of fasting but I live on coffee with oat milk and sweetner in the mornings. I don't eat anything til lunch (now I'm on MJ that is, I was an eating machine in the mornings before). But I know you have to have black coffee for it to not count but I can't!

@AlicesMum2025 so glad you went and are going to stick at it. Well done you!!

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden rollercoasters are the dream! I am so happy for you. We went to Alton Towers last year and I'm ashamed to say I rented a mobility scooter as I knew there was no way I could walk around the park and keep up with DC. Didn't even attempt any rides. It was a real low point mentally for me. I never ever want to get in that position again. And now it's a real possibility I could get in rides again someday. I think I could also walk around the park now.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I hate all the kids in the pool too, I try and remember they're having their happy holidays, but also, go away 😁I had a completely empty pool at the spa, not a soul to be seen, and swam my absolute record- 20 mins without stopping. I was extremely proud of myself and shows what I can do when I'm not constantly dodging people!

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 it tastes like shit, but Pepto Bismol is your friend. Hope you feel better.

PearlsPearl · 01/08/2025 18:51

Buzzing for you @Iwouldratherbesinging that's amazing!!! You must be thrilled. I can't wait for high street shopping.

PearlsPearl · 01/08/2025 18:53

Off to Belfast. Remember my terrible fear of flying? ARGHHHHHH. Pass me the diazepam. (I do have some!)

Worried about how uncomfortable I'll be in the seat. I'll definitely need an extender and I've made my peace with that fact but I carry the majority of my weight in my hips and butt (some of you have seen the photos) because of my lipoedema so it'll be a tight squeeze 😪me and DW bought the third seat in our row too though so we'll have the 3 seats for the 2 of us, I couldn't even begin to consider having to squish next to a stranger.

Lovinglifeand · 01/08/2025 19:09

Hi everyone, I've had the all clear from my doctor today and have an appointment on Tuesday at the pharmacy to get Mounjaro. Very excited. I have 15 stone to lose and have tried all the diets imaginable which have all worked but then I've given up and the weight has piled on again. It will be nice to be with others who also have a lot of weight to lose as sometimes I feel quite alone and have different problems than those who only have a couple of stone to lose. My weight has massively impacted my walking so I'm really hoping to regain my mobility (actually far more important to me than weight loss).
I have quite bad lipoedema in my legs, has anyone found that the injections help with reducing inflammation?

afaloren · 01/08/2025 19:43

@PearlsPearl I remember my DM wanted me to go to a huge craft show with her and I seriously considered faking a bad ankle so I could rent a mobility scooter. I struggled through the day in the end but it was awful and I got stuck in a chair when we had something to eat. You are not alone.

Great news @Lovinglifeand and welcome! We all either had or have a lot to lose here (both in my case!) and it’s so nice to be with people who understand.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/08/2025 20:48

I remember getting a mobility scooter to go round something or other, years ago.

It seems to be something a lot of us have done in the past.

I've realised that I've stopped only buying tops which cover my middle section and my backside.

I'm going for more fitted little blouses now. I've got a shape! And I'm not desperately trying to cover a fat bum anymore.

@GnomeDePlume with regard to you still needing a size 26 - I'm sure you've seen the toilet roll analogy, which explains visually why we don't look thinner to start with, when we started off as morbidly obese.

Huge congratulations to @Lobsterteapot and everyone else with their losses!

Today my wedding ring feels a little bit looser and I'm down 6.2lbs in 5 weeks. Not a quick loss but as its only my 1st week on 5mg Im quite happy with that.

Im also an ex dancer with hypermobility! I really want to up my steps each day. I blitzed the bathrooms today, full on washing the walls and floors, moving any frees standing cabinets and cleaning behind them etc, and at the end of it all my phone said I had only done 1800 steps....load of nonsense! I'll have to recharge my watch as I bet that would have had me at 10k after all of that!

I was exactly the same, but all of a sudden, despite still being barrel like, the sizes rapidly dropped, I’m all boobs and tummy, it will happen and it is exactly like the paper towel analogy. I found myself getting frustrated reading about people who were the same weight and height as me wearing much smaller clothes. Im finding that minimiser bras are my best friend, they can drop my top half by a whole size. You’ll get there.
