Coats!

Yes, I bought two on Vinted a while ago. One is a lovely size 16 black coat, which is now much too big for me.

Luckily it only cost £6 (plus postage) on Vinted, so I'll put it back on there when autumn comes.

The other one is a wonderful blue trench coat. It's a size 14 and it's also too big now.

Years ago (2019) I bought a blue coat brand new, size 14. It finally fits me at last. I'm glad I kept it in the wardrobe. I was a size 24 when I bought it and had this vague plan that I'd lose 10st.

In my dreams! But now it's coming true.

Oh yes @GnomeDePlume!

I’m writing my dissertation at the moment so sewing is very off the agenda. But I have plans!

I have a lovely turquoise coat I got a number of years ago. It has been very slightly moth’d so I can’t sell it. I can wear it though. The great colour will mostly detract from the slight moth!! It has fab pockets and a lovely lining and piping on the seams, it’s a beautiful thing.

I made a denim skirt last year. Then had to unpick it. Now I’ll have to recut all the pieces. But I do have some thoughts for what my wardrobe will involve. And I’m looking forward to not always having to check whether the pattern comes in my size.

That's amazing!! I've put my size 20 coats on Vinted, two have sold and 2 for sale. I got a vintage monsoon size 14 a couple of months ago and a Michael Kors in a medium which is a 10/12 I think. I don't like the MK one so it's on eBay but the monsoon is lush. I love Winter clothes so I can't wait.

Exactly 10st would take me to 11st 9lb and a BMI of 24.1. However I have never had a BMI of less than 30 since I hit puberty I have no idea what that weight would look like. So I don't really know if its a goal I'm going to stick with

That's fantastic 😍 your getting close

GnomeDePlume · 02/07/2025 18:46

@TragicMuse I was looking at a jeans pattern on the Cashmerette website and was very pleased to see that I was within their size range going off today's measurements. TBH I crossed a lot of sizes so some serious grading will be required but I like a challenge!

It will be nice to end up with jeans which fit my shape ie barrel balanced on a couple of tree trunks.

The pool turned out to be warm, so we were really enjoying ourselves, until a child was sick in the shallow end, so we all had to get out.

Oh well. At least we got our money back.
😂

Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but my first thought was, 'ewww, secondhand protein'! 🤢

Billybingbong · 02/07/2025 19:58

So I did a thing today. I actually tried clothes on in a real life shop, instead of the usual order online and hope they fit. I havent done that in at least 10 years. I can't tell you how good it felt to do something so normal!! I bought myself 2 dresses, a size 22 that fits beautifully (3 months ago I was a 24/26), and another I couldn't resist because it was so lovely and an absolute bargain on the clearance rail. £7 for a pure wool, beautifully tailored dress, original price £99. Trouble is, it's a size 14, and I can't even get 1 leg in it right now. So, fellow losers, help me decide. Do I a) sell it on Vinted, or b) keep it as a 'target' dress, and shout it from the rooftops when I can finally fit into it. What would you do?

SilenceInside · 02/07/2025 20:14

@Billybingbong for £7 I would keep the size 14 dress, if you would definitely wear it when you fit into it.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 02/07/2025 20:33

@Billybingbong I vote to keep it!! We can all cheer from the sidelines when it fits 😍

Keep it definitely if you love it. Remember to keep trying it though. Once I got to size 18 I whizzed down in sizes so quick I missed 14 and went straight to 12.

I'll be jab 40 tomorrow so weigh in 39. 9 months on MJ. The length of a whole pregnancy and by far the longest I've ever consistently stuck to a diet. Still a touch depressing that its taken me 9 months to lose 5.5st especially as I probably have another 4.5 to go. The best way to look at it I guess is if I hadn't started, I'd still be over 20st

Well done - just for perspective, I’m on the same timeline and have only lost 3 stone. BMI still 40 😕

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 02/07/2025 21:19

Keep the dress @Billybingbong as it'll fit you at some point.
You can guarantee that, now you're on the MJ.

If ever we needed the laugh reaction it’s now!!

TragicMuse · 02/07/2025 21:38

I’d also say keep the dress!

TragicMuse · 02/07/2025 21:41

Just jabbed. Totally messed up the 5th dose from my pen. The airlock was such that I couldn’t draw it into the syringe. And then the needle bent. So I started my new one instead. I’m a bit pissed off at the waste but nothing I can do to fix it.

I’d better have a loss at WI tomorrow. That will soothe it.

Motnight · 02/07/2025 22:37

@Billybingbong keep the dress 👗! I'm considering doing the same with a Seasalt dress!

I’m not vegan but I cook a lot of vegan. My husband is veggie but doesn’t like eggs so apart from when we have something including cheese it’s all largely vegan.

tonight I’m going to do a kung pao tofu and broccoli.

That sounds exciting 😃

Bulldogsummer · 03/07/2025 01:53

I'm still really struggling clothes wise
I've one pair of shorts for summer ,and that's it
I can't seem to find my style,I'm usually a jeans and jumper person, which I'm to hot in.
Dresses and skirts and loose trousers I feel uncomfortable in .
Although I've lost weight,I've plenty more to loose,I think I'm getting frustrated with what's staring back at me in the mirror.

WafflingDreamer · 03/07/2025 06:11

Weigh in number 39
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 16st 2lb (BMI 33.4)
GW 11st 9lb (BMI 24.1)
2lb down this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2
Total loss 77lbs / 5st 7lb
5.5st down!

GnomeDePlume · 03/07/2025 06:57

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 110.2kg BMI 43
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

That's 1.75lbs down after a week of holiday eating, moving more, hot weather and now a cooler day. I dont think my body knows whether it is coming, going or celebrating Christmas. 17 stone 5 pounds in old money. Loss to date 4 stone 3 pounds.

Still to go for a healthy BMI: 7 stone 6 pounds. Still to go to be 'just' overweight: 5 stone 6 pounds. But still to go for the NHS to give me a little chart rather than just a rather doom laden 'obese' without a little chart: 1 stone 4 pounds. I want a little chart!

Going up to 12.5 today. Really for diabetes purposes, I want to be able to keep my blood sugar well within the healthy range.

At the moment I feel like I am slowly losing weight but not really changing shape at all. Still the same old barrel shape just a bit smaller. It does feel a bit like the weight is melting downwards rather than off. Nobody other than DH and DDs have commented on my weightloss. This is probably due to WFH and my non-existent social life.

Lds1 · 03/07/2025 08:39

Hello me again! Weigh in this week lost 0.4kg / 14.11 oz. Not great I think I'm going to up my dose to 12 and see if it makes a difference. My app now says Jan 2026 before I get to final target 😑

SW: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.12 oz
CW: 89.6kg (made it to the 80s!)/ 14 stone, 1 lb and 8.55 oz
Total loss: 53.2kg / 8 stone, 5 lb and 4.57 oz
To go: 29.6kg / 4 stone, 9 lb and 4.11 oz
BMI: 50.8 / now: 31.9

Next aim is for the 13 stones and then to be overweight which is 5.5kg / 12 lb and 2.01 oz away (sounds like a weird aim but you guys get it!)

Iwouldratherbesinging · 03/07/2025 08:52

I’m getting a bit twitchy with no access to scales, but I’m confident that I won’t have gained (famous last words?!) but here’s my view from last night with an nsv - I was sat on a camping chair with my dinner on a plate resting on my legs/knees rather than precariously balanced on one hand. We took the camping stove with us and cooked veggie chilli whilst the sun went down. Magical.

Great results losers!

And what a beautiful view!

Week 19, 7.5mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 8lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 16st 3.25lbs
Loss this week 1.75lb
Total loss 42.75lbs

So that’s over 3 stone lost. And a few pounds away from the 15s. Can’t wait for that.

I have milestones of my own for each stone lost now, which run alongside the ones my apps set! Targets all over the shop!!

Anyway, it feels slow at the moment and I haven’t had a whoosh for ages - not since mid-may. But I think my average is around 8lbs a month and I can deal with that.

Meanwhile, no side effects. Though I’m looking forward to my next diabetes Hba1c to see how I’m doing. My blood glucose monitor is looking good so I’m optimistic.

Onwards! Downwards! Have a good day.
