Hi everyone! Another newbie here - getting my first jab tomorrow.

I'm late 30s and have been either dieting or binging every single day for the past 24 years.

Life is awful at the moment (two very ill parents, one at end of life), and I'm stress eating non-stop to cope with it. Even eating foods I'm allergic to. I'm scared of the jab side effects but I'm worried I'll end up in anaphylaxis at this rate otherwise.

Got approx six stone to lose but I don't even care that much about losing weight quickly. I'm just hoping that I'll get a quieter brain, then use that spare energy to retrain myself into healthier coping mechanisms and eating habits.

Hi FancyKoala,

Sorry to hear you are going through such tough times.

Appreciate we are all fairly new to Mounjarno here, but already so many positive stories.

I'm week 4, lost 10lbs and been focusing on protein. I used to be a terrible evening snacker and that food noise has totally switched off.

Definitely feel like I've got more energy and am focused.

I've got a good six stone to lose but actually feels achievable and it's ok if it takes a year or 2 or however long it takes, I'm building healthy habits along the way.

Hope first jab goes well, we were all anxious about it, but it doesn't hurt and you'll be on your journey.

Take care, ask any q's and share how you are doing, there are lots of amazing peeps in this group, we are all in it together X

Anyone got like crazy cluster spots? I woke up the other day with 6 massive ones on my temple and they are so painful. I get spots but not like this!

Yes me! But just introduced new retinal cream so assumed it was that. Maybe not then 🤔

We tend to have a lot of meat and seasoned rice with either veg or salad. Also noodles with either teriyaki duck or chicken normally topped with an egg. Tonight we’re having Mexican style mince with mini wraps. My husband is into weight training so most of the meals I cook tend to be high protein but nothing fancy.

Thank you 🙂 I wonder if you’ll still be feeding your husband like that in 3 years 😉

Sam187 · 26/06/2025 20:37

I've been consistently hitting 7-8k steps a day for 52 days now, unheard of for me! I golf 2-3x a week also (new hobby).

I used to strength train 3x a week, but stopped as I moved home. I'm going to start with twice a week in a couple of weeks and build back up.

This evening I did an at home yoga session for the first time ever. I've always thought I'm too chunky and not flexible enough for it, but I must say I really, really enjoyed it. Dropping the link below for anyone interested. 💕

What I would say is, do what exercise feels right for you. Don't do too much too soon. Make 1-2 small changes (e.g. 1000 more steps a day, or moving for 15mins at home) and then built up. We've all got a lot of new things to get used to, best not to overwhelm ourselves and give up.

If you’ve had one, how has your period been?

Mine is due and my belly has definitely reappeared. Normally, I have awful pms (like threatened DH with divorce PMS). Hoping it won’t be worse for him 😆

Yes, W1D2 for me, my back is aching! Lower back pain. Was so uncomfortable in work today.

Hi, yes I’ve had back pain but have put this down to not drinking enough water.

I am currently W3 D5. This week has been not gone as well as the other 2. Firstly, when I injected, I couldn’t push fully down in one go, so had to reposition my hand and I think it went wrong here. After I finished there was clear liquid on my skin. I don’t think the whole dose went in so suppression has been less and food noise has been more than the previous 2 weeks.

Constipation- has hit me- I therefore have gone up on the scales because I’ve not dropped any weight down the toilet! Am taking a teaspoonful of chia seed soaked in loads of water. Also all-bran and may hit laxatives tonight because it’s getting uncomfy.

i reordered a 5mg pen for next lot but had only planned to use it at 3.75mg for 4 doses leaving 1 dose of 5mg which I can decide to either take as a 3.75mg or a 5mg.

Golden doses- received my stabby sticks today but am really nervous of doing it. Still have needle phobia, so have felt nervous before all 3 of my jabs. I keep having to remind myself they are thinner needles and don’t hurt like they did when I was a child!

The troll on this thread is making me laugh, acting like a newly converted fad whole food dieter with the same “I know best” attitude and one size all fits mentality.

Scrumdiddlyumptiousness · 26/06/2025 20:58

A week early but not as painful as usual. However I started HRT patches on the same day so have been playing "HRT or MJ?" for every twinge.

I’m about to do my first jab. I’m nervous 😭 I did IVF 6 years ago and injected myself LOADS. But suddenly my nerves are back 😂

No noticeable differences (just finished mine), just a slower weight loss this week!

I started hrt on my second week of mj so I’m playing the same game!

Booklover2021 · 26/06/2025 21:24

So W4 D6 here. After the little bout of negativity earlier, I just wanted to message newer starters. I've really enjoyed my experience on MJ so far. I've had suppression but still been eating healthier meals. It's really helped me personally identify my food triggers and issues that have contributed to my weight gain. I've stopped over eating just because the food tastes good and have been able to just stop when full!

Had a very stressful day with personal things which meant I was home late and no time to cook a proper meal. Old me would have ordered a MacDonalds, instead I had a protein wrap with scrambled eggs and finished with fruit.

It's really really good to be able to make smarter choices and it's also done wonders for my mental health (chronic depression and generalised anxiety disorder)

Good luck to everyone who's just joined and thank you to the thread posters for all the motivation xxx

Not posting this to alarm anyone but just a reminder to use the yellow card system to report side effects. Had to Google where the pancreas is but might be worth a check for people with back pain just in case it’s related? Weight loss jabs study begins after reports of pancreas issues https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4ged0r1n3wo

Close up of hands holding a vial containing clear liquid with its cap off.

Weight loss jabs study begins after reports of pancreas issues

There have been hundreds of cases of acute pancreatitis in people who have also taken Mounjaro, Ozempic and Wegovy.

I have had a bad back and back pain all my life from being young to present day. Nothing to do with weight , i had a few falls from horses when i was young

LongGinShortTonic · 26/06/2025 22:21

Week 4 for me and I’ve decided to up the dose to 5mg. I’m having limited side effects and it tends to wear off after day 5. Lets see.

Couple of things to sense check with you all:
. I haven’t drunk tea in over ten days. This is unheard of. Instead, I am developing an expensive addiction to Liquorice and Peppermint tea. Is it the milk?
. I also crave salt. I’m putting it on my food and if I do want to eat something not to plan. It’s something like hula hoops or salted popcorn. Anyone else got this?

and to share with you all
. Bailey Brown quick Pilates sessions on YouTube. I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying them. She does sessions of all lengths focussed on specific body areas, so look for her waist or core workouts, or arm or whatever. She’s got ones that are 5 or 8 minutes long up to an hour. It’s really making a difference to me.
. Supplements. On the advice of a nutrition friend I have started to take collagen as well as creatine.

This forum has been such a help to me on many levels and I do hope everyone takes this in the way it is meant. I am hearing more and more about the link between constant dieting and issues in elder life. I’m looking into this due to issues with my mother, who has dieted her whole life and not exercised and now is paying the price. She walks, but that’s it. I would encourage all of us, however gently, to move more and challenge ourselves. Do it online, go to a yoga class, do 5 minutes of weights a day at home. It’ll pay off in the long term, just like all this effort will!

SomethingAboutYou · 26/06/2025 22:27

Yesterday I posted about being w4d5 and hungry and wondering if my 2nd pen on 2.5mg was a mistake and I should have gone up to 5mg. Well today, w4d6 I have been fine! Not feeling horribly hungry like yesterday! I went to the shop mid morning to pick up a loaf of bread. I was a bit peckish and told myself on the way in I could have something as long as I was sensible with the calories. Old me would have gone straight for a cheese & onion pastie or a danish pastry, crisps and chocolate with a diet coke. I walked every aisle and nothing enticed me! Not even the chocolate protein pudding which I considered as an option to up my protein. I just didn't fancy any of it! Went home, drank some water and had an apple and was fine until lunch time when I had a protein shake. A cup of tea mid afternoon and this evening had cheese on toast with a large salad and not had the urge to snack this evening at all. So the jab is definitely still working on w4d6!! Will be weighing and measuring tomorrow morning and taking my 5th dose of 2.5mg tomorrow evening. Keep the faith!!

EmmaPoppins · 26/06/2025 22:30

@waitingforlifeonmars The same thing happened to me with the pen on week 3, just wouldn't budge, I took it out of my leg, did another click, repositioned and same as you a lot of fluid on me after I pulled the needle out. I had a total tizz, was really annoyed at myself, thinking I had wasted a dose, then thought it might be a faulty pen. I complained to Voy who gave me a discount code for the next pen. My suppression wasn't too bad, had a reallly busy week and think that helped. Did my 4th jab yesterday and that was fine thankfully 😅. I've got the kit to try for the golden dose week 🤞🏻.

PloopDeck · 26/06/2025 22:38

BadgerFace · 26/06/2025 15:57

I think you can judge whether you think your current dose is working for you in terms of hunger suppression and your ability to eat healthily/calorie count depending on how you approach that side of things.

My loss has only been 1 or 2 pounds after the first week but the hunger suppression is good and I’m not snacking or eating sweets so I’ve stayed on my current dose for month two. But that decision was based on how I felt on this dose rather than what the scales are saying.

Agree completely with this approach @BadgerFace this is what I’m doing too 😊 Best of luck with your second month!

I’m about to do my first jab. I’m nervous 😭 I did IVF 6 years ago and injected myself LOADS. But suddenly my nerves are back 😂

It’s painless! Honest! Can’t even feel the needle go in. I’ve done mine in thigh if that helps.

I’ve done it. I also did thigh. I was more anxious about whether I was doing the right thing when it came to it rather than the needle. But it did take me back to IVF which in itself made me anxious!

Off on the treadmill to get my steps in and the. To bed and see what tomorrow brings

FancyShaker · 26/06/2025 23:09

Is anyone planning to stay on 2.5, I'm losing about 2 lb a week on this and getting on ok with it, W4 D3,
Suppression is higher days 4 and 5 I've noticed

Lola528 · 27/06/2025 01:03

Hola Jabbers! 🙋🏻‍♀️

W4D1
SW 16st 4.5 lbs
CW 15st 9.5 lbs
GW circa 10st 7lbs .. see how it goes

Delighted with just shy of a 5lb weight loss this week after “only” (I know!) losing 2lbs per week on w1 and w2, so on average 3lbs per week which I will most definitely take!

I do worry I am not eating enough as I just don’t want to and pretty much am forcing myself to, focussing on protein and fibre, not really counting calories yet but eating like a rabbit so guessing my calories have been low.

SE my eczema has had a flare this past few days, especially on my face, not sure if mounjaro related or not but will be monitoring as I definitely want to avoid that, could just be the weather/allergies but mounjaro makes me question everything 😂

Will see how this week goes, got my appointment with the pharmacist (doing this via a local pharmacy) on Monday and will take her guidance on whether to go up to 5mg or not. My suppression has obv been fine, perhaps too much!

Good luck to us all this week and welcome all new June Jabbers.

Whatanidiot123 · 27/06/2025 05:53

@FancyShaker i was hoping to but I’m only on W2D2 so I won’t decide until the end of W3. I’m not getting as much appetite suppression as some people are describing but I’m ok with that as I want be living as normally as possible and not exhausted and surviving on fresh air.

Loss in week one was 4.5lb. My period is due around 1st July and I’m usually hungrier and reaching for the sugar so interested to see how things go on MJ. If I can maintain the food habits of this week and see even a small loss I will be happy!

Hello everyone. Haven't read the thread yet but hoping to soon. I just had my first jab last night. Apologies if already answered but when does it start taking effect? I'm not hungry for breakfast but that's not unusual first thing in the morning

Welcome peanut!

it does seem to vary from person to person, for me I would say it was almost immediate! I can still eat but only wanting small portions and not feeling the need to snack in the evenings which was my biggest problem before. For others it takes longer. I did have some quite horrible side effects (bad diarrhoea) that lasted about 12 hours a day after taking, but again others had no side effects whatsoever.

Good luck to you x

I jabbed last night too 🙂 when I woke up I thought ‘could I smash a box of Jaffa cakes?’ Answer is still yes 😂 but I’m still going to have a calorie counted day with exercise, like I have been doing. I’m actually hoping that because I have PCOS it does more to my hormones than my appetite. And I’m really hoping it works well enough to stay on the 2.5.
