Yeah it takes me a little bit to come back to normal after the shakes and just feeling generally woozy! I thought it was just a me thing tbh does it happen to you in the evening?

Last weekend I had an ice cream (literally one scoop in a cup from a decent place) and on the walk home I started to get really tired and shaky. Got home, sat down on the sofa, immediately slid into a lying down position and…..conked out for an hour 😳 That was unexpected. Clearly the sugary stuff is not to be messed with for me 🤣 but then I’ve always struggled with blood sugar peaks and troughs. Hummus and a few wholemeal crackers sorted me out though.

On thread 2 I commented that I was attending a tier 3 weight loss programme (NHS) today.

So:-
*There were approx 25 attendees around 10 were on a private WLI.
*Consultant (endocrinologist /bariatric surgeon) said this was becoming more and more common
*They would not / could not offer WLI as they had no funding for this at present ( but had for bariatric?!). And until the purchasing group prioritised this they could no offer it. He did see WLI as part of the holistic weight loss solution.
*BMI needed to be >40 (or 35 for certain ethnicities etc). Because it's basically a 12 month wait for accessing the program it would be up to the clinicians if they take on someone who has a BMI of less than 35 (but more than 30). - they acknowledged this was likely if taking WLI. Previous to WLI it was rare to see people with a significantly lower BMI. On referral they require >40 BMI.
*They see those taking WLI as needing the multidisciplinary support of the WL prog to change habits/ make better choices etc so have no problem if people are taking WLI.
There's a 4 HR ISH initial consultation, and then 2 in person sessions of around 4 hrs per week for 12 weeks.
*There is an online option but take up for that is low/non existent.

*But those at the seminar now won't get their first session until October.
*Follow up in person at 9 months.
*Resources available for 12 months minimum.

Hope that helps someone.

Very interesting.
im going to a NHS pre diabetic clinic tomorrow. I’m both interested and nervous about what they’ll say.

Gingercar · 25/06/2025 21:02

For those experiencing wobbles, shakes and tiredness it might be worth getting a glucometer to check your blood sugars. They’re not too expensive

I’m really interested in the mood effects of MJ. It sounds like anxiety and low mood can be a feature, but there is also some hinting that it impacts cortisol and that folks feel calmer. The latter is definitely feeling true for me. What are others’ thoughts?

I can be quite an anxious person, mostly in social settings, and I have found this has taken a back seat since MJ, and I’m three weeks in. I think it’s mainly because I feel in control and positive about the steps I’m taking, so I have more confidence… but you’re right, it’s interesting to know if there’s a chemical/science part behind it too?x

ChiaraMontague · 25/06/2025 20:48

There was a bit in the news last week that Mounjaro can reduce the effectiveness of the pill, so that could be why

I got a text from my GP practice telling me to be aware that contraception is not effective on Mounjaro and not safe in pregnancy so to use condoms. This is the only comms I have had from them about MJ.

Whatanidiot123 · 25/06/2025 21:19

That’s interesting @PloopDeck. I think for me (as a sugar addict) I experienced up's and downs, which are now more stable and I almost certainly had high cortisol and also perimenopause symptoms. It might be the supplements I’m taking, Noop, which are focused on brain fog that are helping too, but I do just generally feel a bit more calm.

Still thinking about food though - which I had a bit more suppression but I think it will take time to break my sugar addiction.

SesTheBrave · 25/06/2025 21:26

Can I join please? I’m actually on W4D3 already. I’ve lost 9lb so far but this week it seems less effective. I’m moving to 5mg next week but is it normal to feel it’s less effective in wk4 of 2.5mg?

I’m not anxious, but have been quite overwhelmed and a bit down about things over the last few years. I feel more upbeat and positive since starting- partly due to the future looking calmer, and partly due to the fact that I feel positive about having taken steps to get “me back” by doing the weight loss journey.

Picalilylou · 25/06/2025 21:32

Also joining but have been following for a few weeks.
W3d5 here. I've lost 4lbs and honestly am a bit disappointed. Eating a lot less than usual, calories in the range advised by Juniper. It just doesn't seem to be coming off much. Start weight 18 stone, long term goal 14 stone. I do have pcos, which I know affects metabolism, wondering if still case on mounjaro.
Side effects have been minimal, so definitely going to move up to 5mg and see what happens there. I've actually been hungry this week and having to use willpower, so seems less suppression than at first too.

jeanne16 · 25/06/2025 21:38

Starting my 1st jab tomorrow so following this thread.

I've not found it as easy in week 4 so not sure if it's just a sign to move up or just an anomaly and I'm having a hungrier week. I'm sticking with 2.5mg so will let you know if it continues to be low or if this week was just a blip!!

Thread 3 already!
I'm excited but nervous about weigh in day tomorrow!

Crinklecat · 25/06/2025 22:11

W2d3 the suppression has finally kicked in! I’ve had 3 small meals today and didn’t fancy wine! I’m way under my calories but feeling stuffed and happy to not eat more

has anyone noticed the benefit of reduced inflammation? Ive still got a big double chin but im starting to see a jawline. I have lost 10 lbs but normally have to lose way more to see this effect

I'm W4 D2 and finding similar. A little more food noise and less suppression this week. Still way below cals but more from will power I would say.

Patiently waiting for someone to post a link to suitable sterile needles to attempt the golden dose next week, then have a 5mg pen, but thinking of doing 3.75 for a couple of weeks first.

Also week 4 and a little disheartened here. I've lost exactly a stone since W1D1... but only 1lb since Saturday. Possibly period related, but I'm edging up to 1400 calories from 1200 this week, and feeling hungry despite meeting my protein target, and bloated despite exceeding the fibre target. And I'm still constantly in need of a wee!

Me too @Tinybirdie.. had no loss last week so I’m
really hoping I get a pound or two down tomorrow, fingers crossed for us!

Gingercar · 25/06/2025 22:51

I’ve done a weird/naughty thing this week. Last week I took a 4mg golden dose, after 4 weeks of 2.5g pen. But there was still a lot of liquid left even after that. Lots of people think I must have missed a dose, but my husband (who kindly does my injection for me) is adamant they were all administered. Anyway whether it was missed or not, we decided to use the remaining liquid, despite it now being day 35 for that pen. It’s been in the fridge the whole time. But there was only 2.5g left, so I’ve effectively gone down in dose. I have felt a little hungry today, but I’ve not had much suppression all the way through anyway. It will be interesting to see how I go on.

ok, I mean this kindly - why on earth are you disappointed with losing a stone in 4 weeks?? So you only lost 1lb this week - it’s 1lb of a great amount. You’ve got to be realistic. Some people would kill to have lost that much.

MsRinky · 25/06/2025 23:29

Ooh, I saw PIL on Sunday, they were great. I also only had two ciders over the eight hour festival day. I am definitely offsetting the costs of the jab. J5 and weigh in day tomorrow…
