Oh no, I'm really sorry you're having such a nightmare 😔
This is one of my worries moving forward if I want to consider the switch to wegovy, as I'm currently at 30.5 and fully expect to be below 30 pretty soon, so it might not even be an option...

I've added a few extra lbs which has taken BMI from 29 something to 31 and it has let me progress. I've paid and uploaded pics but God knows what will happen.

Its worth a punt for £134!!

I'm a previous Wegovy user and it didn't work for me so it's MJ or nothing for me.

I have no idea how it all works when you want to change suppliers with a lower BMI.

Also hope this doesn't effect me ordering from my existing supplier too next week.

Crunchymum · 18/08/2025 19:12

Just wanted to thank everyone for putting up with me today. I've been using this thread as a bit of a brain dump.

It just goes to show how transformative MJ has been for me already and how important it is for me to continue with it.

Even if I don't manage to get an extra pen at least there is no doubt in my mind I'm going to find a way to continue my MJ journey.

Chunkysewist · 18/08/2025 19:42

@Crunchymum it shouldn't affect your usual prescriber as they will be none the wiser that you ordered anywhere else ❤️

Oh god help!!!

im on holiday with my gorgeous , brilliant , just turned 18 son. We are in Lyon and it’s absolutely magnificent!

but Ive been so poorly this evening after dinner! All the food is so so rich and I launched myself into the toilet and aggressively puked almost as soon as I got back to our quirky , bohemian little air b&b apartment (sadly it now smells a bit like sick in here!)It hasn’t helped I think that it’s over 30 degrees and we had flight delays so had a real mare getting here today.

Tonight I ate some kind of liver pate (a Lyon delicacy apparently, possibly from a baby cow? would not recommend actually) and a piece of salmon that I thought would be fine but was in fact dripping in butter. There may have been a ‘Pot’ of crisp white wine.

This trip is a really big treat for us, really important. We have been saving and planning it for a year! My son is a chef and an absolute foodie. Just finished culinary school and delighted to be an adult and loose in the world. Wants to eat snails and drink wine in achingly cool cafes , try the local cuisine and say Bonjour to everyone!

we have been planning this week of wine and cheese and weird Lyonese delicacies (tender braised calf head anyone? Breaded offal in truffle sauce? Pounded pike in a buttery crayfish reduction ? No?? ) and tonight we went to a lovely posh ‘Buchon Lyon’ and had a Brilliant time! He was glowing and ate the most traditional foods on the menu with relish.

but my tummy says no and now I’m scared of what I’m going to eat all week !!!

Do I just eat small bitty portions and accept I may be a bit sick now and then from all the rich food? Do I offend these good people by asking for less rich dishes?

sorry for flailing, but I’m absolutely gutted. We haven’t even eaten a single snail yet.

Why did I Jab yesterday, whyyyy 😭😭😭😭😭

You poor thing. Get those windows open and spray some deodorant.

I had horrific diarrhoea after over eating the night I jabbed in Cyprus followed by incredibly painful heartburn/reflux as I probably should have thrown up rather than keeping it down.

you need to be able to enjoy this trip with your son so get all the pepto bismol you can find and dose up regularly.

look after yourself

Just eat small amounts.
We went on a cruise in June. I ate rich food but just small quantities. Came back 4lb lighter.
Enjoy your holiday and hope you feel better.

toobusytoclean · 18/08/2025 21:54

You can buy Vogalib over the counter in France - it’s an anti emetic

Apprenante · 18/08/2025 22:03

Choose something different from what your son chooses, eat a tiny bit and give the rest to him. That way he'll get to try a wider range of specialities. You then fill up on bread and dressing-free salad. They'll give you the leftovers to take away in a box if you ask. Say -" C'était un repas delicieux ..... mai ....Je peux avoir un doggy-bag?"

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 18/08/2025 23:10

The pen I ordered on thursday finally got approved today and will arrive tomorrow. It's a relief to know I have an extra month but I probably won't be buying any more pens unless the price changes don't happen (that is subject to change if my butt size starts to increase after I finish on mj!)

@Ricoletti That sounds like an amazing holiday, I hope you can enjoy it despite the sickness. In hindsight it probably would have been a good idea to not jab right before going on a food focused holiday but it's done now so just try to avoid any more baby cows. Happy birthday to your son!

wlinewbie0425 · 19/08/2025 06:42

Oh no @RicolettiI really feel for you. I was in France earlier in the summer and whilst I wasn’t on a foodie holiday I had hoped to enjoy cheese and wine as usual to my hearts content and found I could barely stomach either.

Does your son know about the jab? In this whole time the only time I was sick like you describe was in a restaurant toilet when out for a meal with my boss and I made a bad main course choice (also salmon and unexpectedly creamy and rich)then made the mistake of forcing it down. That memory will stay with me.
I think the advice to just nibble very small amounts of things and try to make less rich choices is all you can do at this stage. And it will hopefully get better day by day as the Mounjaro reduces from its peak.

wishing you a better day today. Hope you bounce back and can enjoy the holiday.

@Crunchymum🤞🏻 that your order goes through, sorry it has been so stressful for you. In terms of swapping suppliers, normally being under 30bmi isn’t an issue except for a small number of suppliers. MedExpress, Zava and now ‘Your Medicals’(first time I’ve heard of this one) are the only ones I’ve heard of refusing this - so long as you have evidence of previous prescription, in normal times when they have stock and are taking on new customers pretty much all the rest do. I’ve joined five different companies with a bmi below 30. (2 in the last week).

Crunchymum · 19/08/2025 07:53

Yourmedicals doesn't seem to be on any of the official price comparison websites so I hope I haven't ordered from some dodgy outfit? Knowing my luck I probably have.

Actually I'm a little concerned now as they actually advertise as "move to us before the price increase" and they have a clock ticking down how long there is left.

They also have a deal for two pens (I only ordered 1 though)

I hope I didn't get too desperate I've ordered off grid?

Don’t panic they are registered I just checked! https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/registers/pharmacy/9012314

some of them do have rather less than professional marketing styles and names but they have been registered and inspected so it will be the real stuff not some random drugs in a syringe!

Thank you. Yes I did just managed to do the same and check they were an officially registered pharmacy. Phew!!

Maybe I should have ordered two pens 😉

The order hasn't even gone through yet so I'll see how the service is. They post using Royal Mail which isn't ideal for cold chain items.

Anyway in other news I took my first 10mg dose on Saturday and so far it's been okay. Long may it continue. Have been managing a a decent dinner but I need to work on breakfast and lunch. Just not feeling very hungry. Have been topping up with fruit / nuts and drinking lots but (very) earluly indications are 10mg is doing the trick.

PeachSnail · 19/08/2025 16:23

Hi everyone 👋

I kinda went off grid for a week of camping + a music festival... I only got back yesterday so was really shocked to log on to all this furore about price rises and stockpiling!!!
How stressful! This will really change things! 😬😬😬

Anyway, I've (hopefully) been able to order a new pen from Independent Pharmacy. I'm only on 5mg pens, but it was still about £20 more than I usually pay (with discount code)... Seems like the pharmacies are using this as an excuse to cash in. That means I'll have 2 and a half pens in stock in the fridge and I'm hoping that will see me through to the end of my MJ journey. I'm only doing ~3mg per week so I'm eeking out the doses and doing the golden dose.

In other news, after putting on 1.6kg in Spain the previous week, I managed to lose 1kg while away camping! That's quite some achievement as there was lots of beer, chips and pasta consumed! However, I did do loads of walking every day so that must have done the trick. Feeling pretty pleased with that... Really could have been sooo much worse!

Ricoletti · 19/08/2025 18:40

Bonjour from Lyon!

we continue to have a marvellous time here. I walked up and down a million steps and did loads more walking visiting beautiful places today, which has been very tiring but also helpful to balance out the exiting food tour that we also did.

the food tour was a great way of eating for MJ me, it turns out.

we sampled loads of delicious meats and cheeses, with pairing wines and then several tasters of pudding… all over around 3.5 hours and self serve, so great for portion control. I got to taste loads of lovely things but could pace myself and so I don’t feel sick at all!

my son doesn’t know I’m using MJ, and we are foodies together so it’s hard to explain why I’m not eating with as much gusto as usual.

Then we bought local yummies (truffles!!! Fresh pasta!!!! Squishy cheese!!!! ) to eat for dinner tomorrow, so I will again be able to limit myself and add fresh foods from the farmers market so as not to overdo the richness.

so all in all I’m feeling better than my initial horror yesterday.

im loving that I can still enjoy food and drink , but need to remember to be moderate!!!

I have developed a taste for white wine (usually a red drinker but the horrified/pitying look I got in the buchon yesterday when asking for red wine with my fish was instructive, so I tried the white and was happy. )

also MJ hasnt dampened my enthusiasm for cheese, thank the stars.

heres hoping I can keep walking lots and don’t put too much weight on this week. But if I do i will consider my time week spent and don’t think I have the heart to regret it

🇫🇷🥳🇫🇷🥳🇫🇷

Well done on the camping loss @PeachSnail- you must have wondered what the hell was going ok when you returned to the MJ threads it’s been crazy since Thursday! Hope your pen arrives without any problems.

Great to see your update @Ricoletti - happy to hear your holiday is going better today and you are managing to participate in the food in a way that works with this! Enjoy 😀

Coffeeandallthebooks · 19/08/2025 19:08

Yes it hasn't been fun @PeachSnail but you seem to have had a very successful holiday if you lost a kg! Well done and I hope you get your pens.

I've been away this week to France. Thought I ate a lot, although like you I walked a lot too. Popped on the scales when I came back and was the same weight so pleased with that.

I also have a 7.5mg pen delivered while I was away and my wonderful DD16 made sure it went in the fridge so I will be OK until beginning of October.

Sorry @Crunchymum I was the one that mentioned them as I saw on another thread that people had ordered from them. I have too, but still waiting approval. However, today my GP advised me they'd been notified I'm on MJ, this is the first time any pharmacy has actually notified my Doctor since starting and the date ties in with my order from Yourmedical so hoping that's a positive sign 🤞

Oh I was only messing! I'm just having such bad luck it would be typical I order from some dodgy company.

I appreciate the recommendation. Keep me posted on your order!!

Out of interest how did your GP advise you they'd been notified you are on MJ?

Edited

I got a text message telling me they'd been notified and noticed I was also on oral contraceptive and to tell me to consider changing - funny thing is I actually had an appointment to discuss the coil and they were next to useless as they don't offer the service!

I also double checked and Your Medicals are definitely GpHC registered, phew. Their last inspection was 'standards not all met' so maybe that's why they're not recommended on Monj?

Pharmacy details | GPhC | Your Medicals

The GPhC carries out pharmacy inspections across Great Britain to assess if pharmacies are meeting our standards. We are now publishing reports from pharmacy inspections that have taken place since April 2019. This page displays the inspection results...

I don’t think I’ve seen an inspection report yet where they didn’t have ‘standard not met’ in at least one category, often more, and that’s including some of the better known and often recommended pharmacies so wouldn’t worry about that part!

My approved pen didn't arrive today and will be spending the night in the delivery depot because royal mail sucks.
I'm a little bit concerned about temperatures but not enough to not use the pen.
I think.
Might reasses tomorrow when it arrives and I see how warm it is.
Ugh.
