Anyone starting Mounjaro this weekend?

Is anyone else starting Mounjaro this weekend and fancies a support thread please join along.

I did my first injection tonight. I absolutely hate needles but found it surprisingly ok, think my last pregnancy & a complicated birth has made me a little less sensitive!

Lower back could be kidneys, are you definitely drinking enough?

ForgottenFairy · 19/06/2025 01:23

Can I join too? Just took my first jab last Friday, have about 2 stone to lose, felt nauseous and tired first few days, but really struggling to eat now. Be good to see others experiences on this journey

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 19/06/2025 06:42

@hope1000I was thinking the same as @VashtaNerada, potential kidney issue?? Might be worth getting a urine sample to the GP.

Hi @ForgottenFairyyou’re a day behind me and we have the same/ish to lose. I’m finding it definitely wearing off towards the end of the week so I’m really looking forward to my next jab tonight!

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 19/06/2025 07:39

Ok weigh day.

Week 1 day 7 - 2nd jab tonight.
SW - 12st5
CW - 12st
GW - 9st8

According to the scales I’ve lost 5lbs this week which is fantastic, but I really don’t feel like I have lost that much in my body?? I am super bloated which isn’t helpful but I really don’t see it!

Very much looking forward to the second jab tonight as for the first time all week I’m actually hungry this morning.

Aside from a headache the day after jab day and insane thirst (which is helping me get my liters in to be honest) I’ve felt absolutely fine.

Anyone else weighing today?

hope1000 · 19/06/2025 10:31

Well done! 👏 In your weigh in @TouchOfSilverShampoo! Lucky you not having side/effects.

week 2 day 5-
im seriously thinking about doing half a dose next time as i still feel queasy, although a bit better today. Feel it’s too strong for me? I want to lose 2stone but can’t feel like this every week. On the plus side im not eating anything with dairy, sugar or fat as makes me sick thinking about it. Just literally eating a portion of protein and maybe some veg or just cucumber and tomatoes. I can see ive lost more weight already as things are swinging around my waist now! Yay
people are noticing a little now, definitely more in my face. I too have a bloated tummy. Interestingly I drank some sprite to help with nausea and it cleared a build up of gas I must have had in my chest. Feel a bit better after having that. Gaviscon has helped too.

Moderatelyobese · 19/06/2025 10:36

My MJ has finally arrived from MedExpress and I was planning to jab today but now I’ve got a cold and feel a bit grotty. Can’t decide whether to go ahead or hold off until I’m feeling better.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 19/06/2025 10:41

@hope1000It’s a shame you’re feeling so rubbish but at least you know it’s working! How much have you lost now?

If the suppression is so high for you maybe a half dose would work well without the constant nausea. Are you eating little and often?

VashtaNerada · 19/06/2025 18:02

@Moderatelyobese I’d probably go for it as long as you’re in a position to get some rest for a few days. If you’re busy though, hold off until you feel a bit better just in case.

ForgottenFairy · 19/06/2025 18:05

@TouchOfSilverShampoo
I never weighed myself until Tuesday as my scales never came until then, nearly the same weight as you I weighed 12.6. I have no appetite at all, going through waves of nausea when I do eat. Apart from that I'm grand, well done on your first weigh in .

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 19/06/2025 19:12

@ForgottenFairyYour second jab is tomorrow? Let us know how you get on with the weight loss!

I get the nausea too - trying to prioritize protein and veg, well that’s all I’ve eaten essentially. Couldn’t tell you the last time I went this long without a glass of wine 😂

KopAl · 20/06/2025 00:33

Hi sorry I am late responding. I’ve barely had any side effects. I don’t eat anything cheesy and couldn’t eat quiche if I tried. I used to btw. My advice is small portions and really downsize the plate as well as the food. Water is the holy grail. Once I had sulphur burps on this and I have esomeprazole and chewed mint Gaviscon tablets. Sometimes I had boring old cereal for my tea. Cornflakes! My problem is getting the last ten pounds off. My resolve has dipped a little but I won’t stop until I get at least a 1/2 stone gone. Oh and once you feel full back off from food. Good luck and msg me any time.xx

ThatCoolDenimSquid · 20/06/2025 09:34

Touchofsilver - that's great loss for your first week!

ThatCoolDenimSquid · 20/06/2025 09:39

First weigh day today!
CW 94.7kg
SW 98kg
Loss 3.3kg

I think that's brilliant for first week 😁
2nd jab this evening.
It's the constant nausea / indigestion that's getting to me tho. Yesterday I was recommended to try hot lemon and it did work!
Good luck anyone else weighing in today 😄

Try drinking hot lemon, it has worked for me with the burning indigestion. Just a slice of lemon in a mug, pour on boiling water. it worked after about an hour for me.

My Mounjaro is sitting in my fridge... as yet unopened. I keep finding excuses not to start it. Today's excuse is we are going for a weekend away and I don't want to ruin it with unknown side effects.. then this morning I figured I probably shouldn't start it until next weekend as I have a blood test on Thursday and don't want that to be skewed by whatever the Mounjaro has done... excuses excuses excuses!

I did have a realisation.. I am more addicted to eating than I thought. I am genuinely upset at the thought of not enjoying food again. I love going to restaurants, trying new places.. every trip away revolves around me finding nice places to eat. I love cooking and trying new recipes. I've convinced myself that food is no longer going to be an enjoyable thing. Is it that bad or am I over-worrying? I think I may have finally reached my tipping point, and if that is what food will be like from now on then so be it, because my health really is now being impacted.. but it's a scary thought!

ARGYLEMIKEY · 20/06/2025 11:01

60 year old bloke here. Hope it’s ok for me to join. A different perspective might be of interest to anyone watching this ?

Week 1 day 6
SW - 15st
GW - 12st (20% loss)

My DW started on Mounjaro recently, which led to my decision to give it a go. I eat lots of good stuff already in terms of green veg, whole grains, beans and proper protein. My downfall is toast - and liquid toast AKA beer ! So whilst my body is a good shape overall (I’m 6ft tall), I have a beer belly that makes me feel terrible about myself.

Anyway, so far I’m loving Mounjaro. Appetite has gone and I’m just not thinking about food in those quieter moments or during the classic evening snacking time. Same with beer. There was a recent study suggesting that people tended to drink less when jabbing. I have no desire to have a cold one (or five) at the end of the day. People who know me would find that mind-blowing.

To the poster above - I wanted to say that I felt exactly the same as you about weekends and going out. I’m a huge pub fan and there’s some great ones where we live. And I’ve just lost the desire to go out drinking. It’s weird, but in a good way. I don’t feel like I’m missing out at all, we just do other stuff - go out walking, sit in the garden, shout at the telly etc. So really, don’t worry too much about that.

Anyway. Still very early days. Drinking loads of water. No side effects at all so far (sorry !) First weigh in is tomorrow. Wish me luck.

VashtaNerada · 20/06/2025 12:16

I agree that missing out on food really isn’t a worry once you get going. In some ways I actually enjoy food more because things like chocolate are now an occasional treat rather than just something to shove down your throat without thinking.

Lila21 · 20/06/2025 17:25

Hi All
I hope everyone has a good week.
I was the queen of finding excuses not to start and I think that's ok. You'll know when you're ready.
I too love eating out and exploring new places and was worried that would disappear but it hasn't, I just don't feel the need to order so much and eat everyone's leftovers haha. It's a calmer experience. Although it has only been a week so watch this space!

BeesBeesMillionsOfBees · 20/06/2025 20:42

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good day.
I am due to weigh tomorrow and have my week 3 injection.
Not holding out much hope as I feel so bloated, but still not eating anywhere near as much as normal so you never know.
Have a great weekend everyone!

PleaseAndThankYou12 · 20/06/2025 22:33

Hey everyone! Congrats on the weigh ins! 🥳

I weighed in today and despite not losing on the scales, I’ve lost inches so I am delighted!

3rd jab tonight - I’m hoping the suppression will come back because it’s been missing this week! Although I’ve still been eating a lot less thankfully 😅

Moderatelyobese · 20/06/2025 22:35

I grasped the nettle and injected this morning, despite feeling a bit grotty with a cold. I’m better prepared this time around (I tried it last year but the SEs kicked my arse and I gave up) with anti-nausea tablets, Colpermin for the sulphur burps and loads of mint tea bags.
I really want this to work! Some of my closest friends have lost loads on MJ and are looking and feeling fantastic.

KopAl · 21/06/2025 08:17

Hi there, I’m on 10 dose and it does make me tired but suppresses my appetite so much. I think I’m eating because I have to. And again, water, is the best way to feel okay. Good luck 🥰

Eze · 21/06/2025 09:22

Week 2 weigh in and sugar readings. I do my sugar level readings before breakfast and average them for the week.

SW: 16.11
Starting Sugars (SS): 11.0

CW: 16.4
Current Sugars (CS): 8.81

I’m very happy. I’ll admit I was hoping for a 3lb loss but knew 2lb was much more realistic. It’s going to be hot today so keep hydrated everyone and good luck for next week.

VashtaNerada · 21/06/2025 09:48

I can’t believe I’m even typing this but I’m actually feeling slightly concerned by how fast the weight is coming off! I’m on Week 4 Day 1 and so far I’ve lost well over a stone (not 100% about starting weight, was slightly in denial). Just have a slightly uneasy feeling that it can’t be good for you to lose weight that fast. Also, my tummy skin is already a bit weird and droopy. Trying to up my protein and build exercise back into my life (had to stop because the side effects were so unpleasant for the first couple of weeks).

ARGYLEMIKEY · 21/06/2025 10:03

Well done to everyone for grasping the nettle, losing pounds and losing inches.

First weigh-in was actually W1D6, my traditional Friday teatime slot. 6lbs down. Absolutely delighted. Did Jab 2 this morning. All good.
