100% agree BMI is bobbins but quite keen to not be in the "here be monsters" uncharted bit of the map!

Also rather not think about my waist/height ratio, I'm quite tall but also exceptionally wide! Perhaps I'll also take up some vigorous stretching...

We will be found, bat like, hanging upside down from the rafters

Oooh I'm excited by the SW coastal path trails. I leave near a bit of it and when my kids were small walking more of it was my goal and then I got ill and put on all the weight and wasn't able to walk more than about 8 minutes at a time for a few years.

Since MJ I've been building it up and on the weekend we walked to (as in from car park to the coast) a lovely spot on the SW coast path. It was 40mins there and a bit longer coming back which is the most I've done in ages and was so excited to actually Be Out on a Proper Walk even if it wasn't as much as I used to do. I couldn't manage the final cliff scramble but I did go up and down a steep bit of hill (with rests on the way back).

I genuinely would love to do more SW coast path as a goal for next year when fitter/slimmer etc...

Doggymummar · 30/06/2025 10:16

My friend lived in Fowey and has a blog, she's a bit of a mumfluencer her walks on the SW coastal path look so beautiful.

Morning ladies! Another week and congratulations all for your losses and NSVs!
I changed my jab day from Thurs to Monday, so I had an 11 day gap between jabs, finally took it this morning and will see how it all goes. Conscious that the levels of drug in my system has massively dropped but unsure about messing about with the doses too much, so I just jabbed as normal.

Just a question on how you all eat when you're jabbing? Are you partnering it with a certain diet/lifestyle? Of course we are all watching calories/protein/water but just to take it an additional step. For example, does anyone do OMAD, fasting or 5:2?
I'm considering 5:2 now that I'm along my journey and I think the scales need a little nudge.

TheZingyFish · 30/06/2025 11:57

Week 12 4lbs lost
SW 24st 9lbs
CW 22st 1.5lbs
Total lost 2st 7.5lbs

Feeling more positive today, thank you to everyone that offered support yesterday.

Not only have I now lost 2.5stone, but my BMI is now below 50! If nothing else I will be facing my demons healthier so when I decide what I want from life I will have more weapons in my armoury.

I have today off work so spent part of the morning going through my wardrobe looking at what clothes I can now get into, felt good and do think in a few weeks I will do a wardrobe overhaul. I have clothes that will be too big, and other stuff I bought to slim into that may fit but I don’t think I’ll ever be wearing. Think that will help me focus on what I might need to get to fill the gaps as I continue and have like a capsule wardrobe.

Thinking back I used to love a day spent shopping but now there is nowhere on the high street I can buy clothes so lost that enjoyment as it became painful to be reminded all the time. Now I’m looking forward to going shopping and trying clothes on to buy in a normal shop.

LucyBnotG · 30/06/2025 12:40

I've not been on in ages and it's always so uplifting to see how people are doing. I love how people help each other through rough patches too.

@mamabeeboo This is the first weight loss journey that I have done where I haven't had a plan. Like so many others I've done SW/WW/shakes etc but this time I just count calories. Counting calories doesn't feel like a plan because I can eat anything that takes my fancy, just in smaller portions.

I of course try to prioritise protein where I can and stay hydrated with plenty of water. When the suppression is high I find I lean towards OMAD but with a small snack at around 2pm. I often eat in a pattern that might be considered intermittent fasting. With having a sedentary wfh job, I don't need the boost of energy in the morning and make use of my calories in the afternoon and evening.

I was considering 5:2 for maintenance. My mum has had great success with it (not on a GLP-1). Please report back if you try it! 🙂

@mamabeeboo I do my best now to stick to OMAD at least four days a week. It seems to help because I'm 68 and weightloss definitely slows as we age.

Other than that, I just cook and eat what I've always done, but have much smaller portions.

Currently weigh 12st 8lb.

I've lost 7st 8lb in 18 months.

My feet are no longer swollen and most of my clothes are a size 14.

I'm still in the OBESE category of BMI though.

I do OMAD and fast 800 but I literally lost half a pound a week so I wouldn't follow my example!!

GnomeDePlume · 30/06/2025 13:13

@TheZingyFish really glad to read that you are feeling a bit better today.

@mamabeeboo I'm not following a plan. What I am doing is following some advice given to me by my diabetes nurse.

  1. put a smaller portion on your plate
  2. eat your vegetables
  3. eat your protein
  4. eat the carb only if you still have room/interest

Following this I have lost 4 stone.

The last bullet is a good one!!!!!

GnomeDePlume · 30/06/2025 15:36

@mamabeeboo it is certainly working for me. By the time I have eaten a load of vegetables and made a reasonable effort at whatever the protein is I'm often not interested so much in the carb. However, as I started from a smaller portion (except for vegetables which I am eating more of) it is fine for me to eat the carb if it is something I want.

I'm in this for the long term as I am diabetic. Controlling my carbs does seem to be helping my diabetes.

TragicMuse · 30/06/2025 16:27

I made a low carb bread yesterday. It’s really pretty decent! And has protein from seeds too. It does require some investment in unusual ingredients, but I’ll make it again, for sure.

simsbustinoutmimi · 01/07/2025 02:05

Haven’t posted for a LONG time but I’m at the end of my Mounjaro journey ladies…was so psyched to start 2 weeks ago started at 364 pounds , ending at 358 pounds. Unfortunately I was taken to hospital with severe diarrhoea and vomiting so much so that I ended up in intensive care- I choked on my own vomit in my sleep! I’m glad it works for so many people on here just not for me!!!

simsbustinoutmimi · 01/07/2025 02:05

While I hate being so heavy and weight can cause premature death I am lucky to still be alive for my children in the here and now!

Everdecreasingcircle · 01/07/2025 05:53

Congratulations @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne fantastic loss.
The BMI calculator is rubbish. I’m still overweight on there too. After 9 stone loss on the scales today I certainly don’t feel overweight. I take my joy from size 12/14 clothes too instead of raking through the plus size sale racks now.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/07/2025 08:06

@simsbustinoutmimi Oh my goodness that's terrifying. I'm so glad you're okay. Intensive care is no joke. That truly is horrific. I want to send hugs/good wishes but can't think of a non corny way to say that!!

SeaStoat · 01/07/2025 09:13

So sorry to hear your news and grateful you got treatment and have come through, @simsbustinoutmimi. Please do report what happened to the yellow card scheme here https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk

Sending you every best wish for whatever you decide to do when you've recovered.

@Janie934 hi! Congratulations on your milestone, that's fantastic!

@Iwouldratherbesinging also congrats on the swimming costume, fabulous. Hope you enjoy your swim!

Today I am officially 2 stone down 🎉 only another 10 to go but we won't talk about that yet... Next goal to be less than 20 stone and then onto the BMI chart!

I did find a bmi chart for over 20s. Have a look at the pics on this thread x
