but if I was to get to 20 bmi that’s another 2+ stone so around 9st in total to have lost

but I’m never going to get to 9s as I would bloody awful at that weight At my height

Ach, I reckon you qualify!

It's not like you started off at 11st and were aiming for 8st. 🤣

I’m really worried. I had blood tests this week as part of an over-40s health check (the joys) and I’ve had a message saying the GP wants to see me next week.

Terrified I’ve done something irreversible to myself with years of over-eating, eating the wrong thing, drinking too much (now sober), or that something’s wrong that isn’t as serious but maybe means I won’t be able to take MJ anymore Sad

I had blood tests two years ago and they were fine.

Whilst I’m a new poster on this thread I have been following it. I’m a six stone at least to lose person for transparency. Having already lost 2.8 stone.

To answer your question, I’ve had this type of call before and please don’t worry unnecessarily. Yes they will want to talk to you about something but it’s going to help you. Previously I’ve had high blood sugar levels or slightly abnormal or high readings on other things.

It’s actually good that they are flagging up something that you can change or help to change often with lifestyle changes. But I understand how worrying it is when you receive a message like this.

PinkArt · 27/06/2025 23:26

afaloren · 27/06/2025 20:50

Thank you for this kind comment! I’ve re-read the message and it says to book a routine appointment next week so it can’t be anything that’s going to kill me over the weekend, can it?

Also I’m so sorry that happened to you, how scary!

No, if it was something urgent they'd want to see you asap.
It's sooo easy for your head to spiral about what's up though. My head goes straight to I'm going to die of cancer every time and I have to wait for the logic to kick back in that it's unlikely they'd leave it a week to tell me that.
They might want to re-run a test, or investigate further, or flag that something is a bit off so you can take steps - which you probably already are by losing weight.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/06/2025 00:28

Very true

the amount of threads I see as sure many do

posters saying they are bmi of 24 and want lose a stone

GnomeDePlume · 28/06/2025 06:11

I second all the comments about follow up on blood tests. It's a routine appointment they want you to make.

On the plus side, at least they are following up. My GP surgery 'filed and forgot' a letter from my haematologist. It contained test results which indicated that I was diabetic, my thyroid was giving up the ghost and my liver was following it. The surgery had read the first couple of lines of the letter and decided it wasn't important enough to read through to the end.

GnomeDePlume · 28/06/2025 06:20

It is great to read all the weight losses and NSVs.

Ah yes, @Iwouldratherbesinging , 'mounjaro arse'. I'm a fellow sufferer!

Morning All - it continues to be so inspiring to be reading everyone's posts on this thread - so many people are making such a difference to their lives!

Pen 6 was completed for me at the start of the week - so 24 weeks in. Exercise is continuing, and my weekends away have seemed easy to manage, despite not having any deserts in the 14 meals I ate out, I never once felt that I was depriving myself. More profoundly, I've come to realise this past few weeks that I have utterly believed I was a failure simply because I couldn't manage my weight like everyone else could - I'm coming to appreciate that was because I didn't have the tools to do so, not because of some inherent weakness in me - and that's a very powerful, and somewhat scary, revelation. If I haven't failed for 35 years, have I actually succeeded during that time?

Weigh in this morning at the end of pen 6:

SW: 136.6kg
GW: 62.6kg

Pen 1 (2.5mg): Down 10.1kg
Pen 2 (5mg): Down 6kg
Pen 3 (5mg): Down 5.1kg
Pen 4 (5mg): Down 4.8kg
Pen 5 (5mg): Down 4kg
Pen 6 (5mg): Down 5kg

CW: 101.6kg

Some big NSV's this pen too - my BMI is now below 40 and I've bought some new clothes which are a size 20 and 22 not a 28 and 30. But the biggest may be the massage I had the other week - I was lying on the massage table and realised my arms could lie by my sides rather than hanging in the air - there was space for them and me!

Pen 7 started - I've stayed on 5mg again.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/06/2025 10:40

Oh my goodness @GnomeDePlume how did you find out??? That's truly shocking and presumably negligence on their part.

Are you okay now?

I discovered I had fatty liver which I think a lot of people morbidly obese have - and my doctor just initially asked for repeat bloods after 3 months. Then sent me for a scan and some different bloods just to rule out other causes and make sure it was the fatty liver disease. I was so relieved I was already on MJ as its one of the things that can help (alongside weightloss)

I meant to say each time I had no urgent phone call follow ups as none of this was urgent - and it all took time!

FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping · 28/06/2025 12:03

Had a very arduous journey from Scotland down to Southampton before boarding our cruise ship in a couple of hours. Am utterly knackered and feeling pretty grim. I don’t know if next week I should dial my dose back to 3.75mg as 5mg is kicking my arse - the suppression is just too much!

Lds1 · 28/06/2025 12:25

I weigh every day but only record once a week, since Thursday I've been 90.0 kg... It's annoying being so close to the 80s, all it would take is 100 gram loss!

I've tidied and cleaned most the house today and will do some gardening soon if the sun stays out. Usually after sorting the house out I've ran out of energy.

Bulldogsummer · 28/06/2025 12:28

Has something changed regarding ordering doses
I saw something on line ,are there new guidelines in place or something

Bulldogsummer · 28/06/2025 12:29

2 pounds off this week
Over 7 stone off now

All I've seen is more requirements for regular photos, possibly video consults. Taking photos within provider app/link seems to be getting more common, so not taking photos & just uploading to website, cuts out potential for manipulation of images.

What sort of thing?

They are tightening up re misuse of drugs so I believe there's guidelines prescribers are adopting about confirming weight and identity.

I think (just from lists of reading random stuff not from knowledge) that originally people tended to aim to go up the doses every 4weeks whereas it was a minimum of 4 weeks between doses and now people seem to be more in the "lowest effective dose" and moving up when it isn't working.

But for that there's still prescribers in both camps I think and lots of variables as in how much you have to lose and how it's effecting you individually.

It depends what you mean?

Bulldogsummer · 28/06/2025 13:05

Someone on a thread said something was changing before July ,but didn't elaborate what was

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/06/2025 13:09

Ah that's probably the changes in ID/verification of weight. I think different pharmacies are doing that in different ways. Ie video call etc.

And wow 7stone!!!!!

GnomeDePlume · 28/06/2025 13:12

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden fortunately I had been sent a copy of the letter. Did end up with a slightly bonkers conversation with the surgery where initially they denied having had the letter then denied that it had blood test results on it.

All fine in the end, just more tablets and now I get mounjaro for free!

But generally my GP surgery is monumentally crap!

Lds1 · 28/06/2025 13:23

NSV when doing the gardening it took 15 minutes to cut the back garden grass, used to be an all afternoon affair, and I'm not even sweaty!

I got this from Ousch

so just a case of proving weight I think

Mounjaro -10 stone or more to lose - Thread 4
FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/06/2025 14:07

Ah yes! My provider already verified weight so I think it depends on how the providers are doing this. No real change to prescribing I don't think but it's good they're tightening up. We see here on mumsnet so many people trying to say they're shorter...

And yay for gardening! I'm about tk face that. Just been building up to it!

CheeryCamper · 28/06/2025 15:47

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/06/2025 15:41

@eibbed999 Oh yes that's it exactly! After all this time and all this progress to "still" be at "beast" level feels hard. But yes we are all making SO much progress. It just isn't as outwardly visible as those with so much less to lose where the change is dramatic within a few stone.

I do now think there really was nothing else that would have "saved" me. I was going to go on the waiting list for the operation but no wonder i was so depressed. I knew i couldnt save myself and each year id try something else or the Dr would suggest something I "knew" wouldn't work long term or I'd lose a stone and yet the futility of it all. We are now on something that will actually work, and is working!

I have been trying to catch up on all your amazing posts but this one sums it all up for me, I finally know that if I just keep going, just keep making the best choices that I can at that time, that I will get there! There are days it feels slow and like there is such a long way to go, and there is, but on these days I literally make myself say all the NSVs I’m experiencing out loud, all the positives, and there are so many of them already- if this is what 3 stone off feels like then bring on the next one!!
Once again, thank you to every single inspirational person on this board for getting me started and keeping me going!!

Southwest12 · 29/06/2025 12:11

I'm on my way to a conference today. Last year I was 131kg, this year I'm 89kg. 3kg more and I'll officially "just" be overweight. Can't quite believe it! I'm wearing shorts as it's supposed to be 25c where I'm going, again, can't quite believe I'm wearing shorts in public. M&S boyfriend shorts if anyone is looking for some, generous sizing and very flattering.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/06/2025 12:54

Wow @Southwest12 that's great.
I haven't worn shorts for years.

OP posts:
Lds1 · 29/06/2025 16:08

I'd like some shorts but my legs aren't aware they should be getting slimmer, shorts still look awful with my knees!

TheZingyFish · 29/06/2025 16:58

Having a wobble at the moment. For too many years I’ve been able to put blame on my weight for my life not being as I wanted it, and then blame on my life for my weight not being as I want. This has almost been a get out of jail free card, and allowed me not to address certain issues.

The weight loss is going great so now I’m worried I’m going to have to address the rest of my life and does the weight loss actually matter in the grand scheme of things. Is making me question whether I want to lose the weight as realistically I can’t see a win. I see lots of people saying how liberating it is but I can’t see what I’ll be liberated to do to be honest so this is in some ways highlighting how dependent up on food my life had become.

I feel like I’m losing my former self, and some of the people on my life seem to like that self better as it fits in with their lives. I don’t have a wide circle of people on my life but just feels like it is getting narrower and narrower.
