Welcome one and all to our latest thread!

So much support and encouragement on here. Can’t wait to hear everyone’s continued achievements and NSVs.

Congratulations to everyone who has reached their goal and starting maintenance, and all the warriors still trekking on.

I still have a couple of stone to go. Feeling motivated and ready to go!

We can do this!

Nutrient deficiency due to fast weight loss can cause hair loss even just by dieting. That’s why I’ve cycled up the doses fairly slowly and haven’t been worried about losing slowly.

I’m going to go back to taking collagen and biotin supplements and try a multivitamin. We eat fairly well in terms of lots of home cooked evening meals but obviously my portions are smaller now and during the day it’s hit and miss depending on what I’m feeling and if I’m home.

Mounjaroday · 04/06/2025 21:48

Ah ok. I’ll look into all that this week then. Thanks.

Anyone had any side effects

Yes: I’ve lost a massive amount of weight! 😂

Mounjaroday · 04/06/2025 21:53

How about you? You doing ok @bigbreakfastclub?

I’ve had some fairly standard side effects - the usual bit of nausea, occasional runny tum or being bunged up. And a bit of thinning hair.

haven't started yet 🥴

Mounjaroday · 04/06/2025 22:57

Ah good luck! Exciting!

Everyone’s experience is different. I can honestly say any side effects I have experienced with Mounjaro, are nothing in comparison to the side effects I was having from obesity.

MJSpideySenses · 05/06/2025 06:22

Agreed @Mounjaroday I had a bit of constipation at the beginning so had to up my water intake. I now have occasional nausea but again drinking more water usually remedies that.

I feel so much better. I noticed the other day that my feet don't ache when I first get up like they always used to. If anything, I am doing more walking each day than before.

I went for a 5 mile walk with the dogs the other day and could march up the hills with DH and DS.

There are many small things like these that make a change to my daily life. It's liberating.

Good luck @bigbreakfastclub

Mounjaroday · 05/06/2025 07:20

Wait! @MJSpideySenses! My feet don’t ache either. They used to be so stiff walking down the stairs in the morning. That has disappeared! Hadn’t even noticed until you mentioned.

Loving reading all the positivity this week! It got me thinking I wonder if any or how many of the people who started with us in February gave up. For me, continues to be best thing I've ever done!

Week 17 1.5lb off
Starting weight 13.5lb
Current weight 10.10lb

Loss has definitely slowed down. Lost 5lb in May. As long as its going down I don't mind how long. It's just when it stalls I'm panicking.

Another thing I was noticing is the difference in my ankles and calves. It's bound to be so much better for our ankles!! I'm down to only 1 pair of jeans that's fits! Went to order new size down from M&s but their online services are still down! What a nightmare (for them!)

SpiralSister · 05/06/2025 07:48

Get on Vinted, @sc0ttishlass! Loads of M&S jeans on there, brand new with tags if you don’t fancy worn. Ideal for when you are still actively losing weight and can’t be shelling out full price for something that will be too big in 2 months.

Hurrah!

SpiralSister · 05/06/2025 07:59

I am 12.8 on the scales this morning. Could actually weep! How can this be? I haven’t weighed that for at least 20 years.

I am going to buy myself the most gorgeous piece of jewellery today (which I can ill afford given my Vinted habit 😂) as a reward for almost 3 stone off. And the next piece will be for 5 stone off!

In my first week of 7.5mg and it all feels pretty much the same as 5mg so far, perhaps slightly more suppression, but still experiencing what I would term as ‘good’ hunger. So, I feel hungry, I eat, I feel full, I stop. You know, like slim people do 😂.

This is a revelation to me. I understand why slim people, who are wired totally differently, don’t understand why fat people can’t just eat less and move more without titanic, unsustainable, miserable efforts to conquer their brain and body chemistry. It’s akin (although obviously nowhere near as egregious) to telling someone with neurodivergence to just be more neurotypical.

So, so grateful for MJ right now.

sc0ttishlass · 05/06/2025 08:33

@SpiralSister you are so right! I can now kind of see why they think just stop eating so much and more more! If only.. this week I had a chocolate bar and ate about 2/3rds of it and left the resst and it's still there! Unheard of.
Lovely idea on the jewellery!
And I'm off to look at vinted!

Ke11 · 05/06/2025 08:49

@bigbreakfastclub ive found that as I've gone along the side effects are less and less, week 1 of 7.5 I had a huge headache, very tired and cold some mostly mild nausea. I took my 5th dose last Friday and just had a slight headache for a few hours that went away on its own and very mild nausea. I'm still being very careful of what I eat on the day before jab and day of, very plain stuff like chicken, carrots etc. For me I think that's held off the worst of the side effects, the rest of the week is back to normal eating. I also have a quite achey back, I'm sure it's my shoulder muscles adjusting to the lack of load and different posture.

For good side effects I've found taking a "big shower" (wash hair, exfoliate, shave legs if summer etc) so much easier and not exhausting like it used to be. I used to ache so much after, as if I'd had a big gym session. I also have lot more energy to do things now and feel more confident already.

I've just booked an adults only Dino sleepover at the natural history museum. I always wanted to do it but was worried about fitting into a sleeping bag, eating in front of people, bringing a stash of sugary stuff etc. Just got a standard cheap one off amazon, fits with room and I'm going on my own and I'm going to have a great time and not worry about food. That's definitely come from the gain in confidence

SpiralSister · 05/06/2025 08:58

What an amazing thing to do, @Ke11. I didn’t know that they did adults only! I would adore to do that.

Have a wonderful time and revel in that confidence!

Mounjaroday · 05/06/2025 09:14

Loving hearing about these NSVs this morning!

@Ke11 god YES re the shower thing! - shaving my legs used to be so hard. Easy peasy now! You have also made me realise how much easier it is to sit up straight.

@SpiralSister enjoy the jewellery shopping. Well deserved, too!

So proud of us all!!! As @Zibb said: onwards and downwards!

Mynameisjune I think I’m similar to you as my weight loss is quite slow @ 1.375lb per week over 12 weeks and I do have more hair loss which I think is due to dieting generally. I have fine hair anyway so don’t want to be losing too much. I also struggle to eat on 2-3 days every week.

LaurenW · 05/06/2025 09:55

So I’ve hit a big milestone which I’m thrilled about! I’ve officially lost just over 50lbs!
SW 16s4
CW 12 s8
GW 11 something
My BMI is still overweight but only just! I’m having real trouble finding clothes for smart work events…spent a fortune on a suit 6 weeks ago that now looks too big!

skyscrapersinging · 05/06/2025 09:58

NSV and NSD (defeat?!) this week- have been holding onto 3 black designer jackets for about 10 years, (suppose they are considered “vintage” now?!) despite being a million miles from wearing them all (size 12, was 16/18 at beginning of this year). Now they all fit! Hurrah. I was only really keeping them for sentimental reasons, not really imagining I’d ever get back into them. Now they fit perfectly.
NSD? I threw out all the matching trousers I had to go with them. Doh. (And that was only late last year. If only I’d known!)

Ke11 · 05/06/2025 10:35

@SpiralSister I'll let you know what it was like, it's on 13th June and they have another few this year if you're interested.

Forgot to add my hair is definitely thinning as a side effect. Luckily I'm not someone that really cares about my hair tbh, it's cut every 6 months and lives in a ponytail. I might cut it short again at some point but I'm not sure if that's a good or bad idea with the thinning.

On the plus side I'm obsessed with watching my hands move now, I love seeing the tendons that were hidden under fat before

Febnewbie · 05/06/2025 11:24

I didn't think I had fat feet but apparently I did - having to wear extra pairs of socks with some shoes.

I may need to get new smaller shoes eventually

SpiralSister · 05/06/2025 11:31

Thanks, @Ke11 - I’d love to do it, I’m a long way from London though!

I know what you mean about hands etc - I’ve got wrist bumps! And I wouldn’t have said I carried any weight on my wrists or hands, they’ve always been quite slim. Or so I imagined 😄

My boots are wide fit and I feel like my feet are just sliding around in them now

Ive noticed that my feet/ankles dont swell anymore especially when its hot. I have put this down to MJ

PerditionCatchMySoul · 05/06/2025 13:42

I am so disheartened - I haven’t lost anything now for 6 weeks. I have 3 more pounds to go to make it a 2 stone loss on MJ - 3 stone overall: and I was going to treat myself to a massage.

I have just taken my 3rd 7.5mg dose, and it’s working fine. Has anyone else gone a long time without losing anything and then started losing again? 😔

HappyPie82 · 05/06/2025 15:50

Had some big NSV given that the actual scale has been slow to move!
My size 16 work trousers are falling down to an embarrassing point! I'm practically having to pull them up to my bra to stay up!
And i tried on a size 14 jumpsuit which literally hasn't fit since 2019, expecting it to not do up over my boobs! not only did it go over my boobs but it zipped all the way up! still a little tight on the tummy but nothing a pair of suck you in pants can't solve. Want to wear it to some pre-wedding drinks for my friends wedding in august, so might not even need the suck you in pants.
1lb away from being in the overwight BMI and not obese!!
