Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Major victory for me just now picked up my niece and nephew on my own for the first time in years and felt good so took them to get a few treats and didn't get anything for myself as its my dad's birthday so will have a bit of cake but not having chinese

gimmemounjaro · 17/06/2025 17:22

A MAN in our midst, what next? 😱😱😱
Nice NSV @NervyWegovy👍
Isn’t it weird when you start behaving in ways which were unthinkable before, takes a bit of time to process I think

NewbieMJ · 17/06/2025 18:35

@NervyWegovy - don't lose heart in your meagre weightloss, despite the physical hard graft - it will come off. I have been straight lining for ages on the scales and then 3 pounds came off. It's your body doing its thing - recalibrating I like to call it.

@alwaysscared I haven't tried the keto granola, but my family have (not your specific one), and love it. More and more low carb/sugar things coming which is welcomed, but as @RobinEllacotStrike says, there seems to be an over-emphasis on sweeteners which is often unnecessary. Let us know what it is like.

I walked about my (currently being renovated/built) new property today with ease - no way would I have attempted all that a few months ago. It was a brilliant feeling - so easy. I was confident to move around. Everything takes so much less effort being 66 pounds down.

alltablenochair · 17/06/2025 18:38

31.5 inches!!

My super sporty, 6 foot 1 tall 15 year old has a 30 inch waist. There's is absolutely no way in this world I would ever get one of those myself. I don't know what my waist size is at the mo but I'm willing to hazard a guess it begins with a 4

I said on a post earlier that I knew id be disappointed with this weeks weight loss and I am! 0.5lb when for four days I've been putting blood sweat and tears into the garden several hours a day destoning the garden. Im sunburnt and itchy and my voice is going.

I was still expecting a 3-4lb loss as has been natural to me on weeks where I've been serious about my diet. Gutted to be honest

You need to basically drink water till you feel like your back teeth are floating. The combination of sunburn, general heat and sweating and muscles being worked to the point they need to heal will cause you to regain water. Give it 3 days of drinking 2-3lts water a day and peeing like a racehorse, then weigh again.

Just been and had a look at the measurements I took in the early days and my waist was 43inches, today it’s 33inches so 10 whole inches less round the middle.

Optimum based on what?

it was a piece on the hidden danger of visceral fat which some people don’t realise they have (I think most of us on a 5 stone thread assume we’ve got some level of visceral fat but we’re hoping to improve things).

it was one of the Operation Ouch doctors who said a rule of thumb for women is to aim for a waist size of less than 31.5 (as then you’re unlikely to have too much ‘hidden’ fat)

alwaysscared · 17/06/2025 20:15

I’ve tried the Surreal cereal, and yes, it is very sweet! I do have a massive sweet tooth but it’s a bit too artificial for me! I’ll let you all know about the granola, fingers crossed it’s good!

I needed an evening dress for a posh dinner later this year. Last year I wore a size 24 dress. The other day I ordered a size 20 evening dress on ebay. I’m determined to get in to it, despite my current stall (damn those same 2lbs!).

I’ve already dropped a size in jeans and most of my tops are either huge or very loose. I think I need to do a clear out. I will probably keep some of the decent label size 24 stuff for now. Just in case……..

I just tried it on. It’s snug but I can do it up. Maybe I should keep an eye open for a size 18.

I love this dress and it was a super bargain at £40 instead of £260 when new.

Yes I think this is the answer i know I didnt drink as much or at least more than normal considering the heat

NervyWegovy · 17/06/2025 22:23

So that was definitely a big temptation. Dished up my dad's chinese and I had a wagamamas chicken ramen

InfoSecInTheCity · 17/06/2025 22:45

I love Wagamamas Ramen it’s delicious, those boiled eggs that magically stay warm and yet stop cooking at exactly the point where the yolk is still a bit runny. Yum yum yum!

We tried a Hot Pot place a couple of months ago and that was a brilliant meal out, DD loved it because it’s fun, DH got to eat all the weird stuff he likes but rarely gets because me and DD can’t stand it and I got a tasty meal that fits my macros.

if you’re not familiar with the concept, you basically pick a broth/soup, flavour and get a massive bowl of it put in the middle of the table on a hob that keeps it bubbling, then you choose a whole load of stuff that you dunk into the soup to flash cook so you are cooking your food at the table.

I really liked the very thinly sliced beef, selection of mushrooms, greens and sweetcorn, all cooked in a very flavourful chicken soup.

Hi 👋 - week 1 Mounjarou, 2.5mg & 5+ stone to loose!!! Start of a long journey.
Feeling ok aside from a little indigestion, and after having a very healthy appetite, loving food generally, within a few days things have changed. I am struggling to enjoy anything I have eaten so far, specifically grilled, fattier foods - & meat. Only a few food types seem tasty, edible, digestible broad beans, tuna, eggs, Greek Yoguart. Concerned how I am going to up my proteins and wondered if anyone was following a specific eating/menu plan, or could offer food suggestions which have worked, supported their weight loss and protein intake. 😊 Joy

InfoSecInTheCity · 17/06/2025 22:58

@Joyt35 ThePlantSlant on Facebook or TikTok is a wholefoods fan and gives loads of ideas for getting protein and fibre into your diet in a balanced humorous way that doesn’t demonise processed food.

I always have Longley farms full fat cottage cheese, Greek yoghurt. Beef jerky and boiled eggs in the fridge because they are high protein, low calorie and I can just eat them straight from the fridge.

i also do lots of slow cooker batch meals using 500g meat and then a whole load of veg and whatever seasoning I fancy. That makes 4 portions I usually freeze 1 and eat 3 for lunches that week. You could replace the meat with beans or lentils to give you protein and fibre.

Crikeyalmighty · 17/06/2025 23:18

@Joyt35 I personally only did 6 weeks on it and then have gone cold turkey on cal control and more exercise - partly because the only foods I could deal with without chronic heartburn 3 days a week were Greek yoghurt, Longley farm cottage cheese, eggs , porridge pots , berries, bananas and tinned fish - got a bit boring - but I have kept up the habits and still eat these now nearly every day , still losing ok and consistently .

Thank you, that’s really helpful - I knew there must be knowledge. Resources out there, just knowing where to look.

Tbh I was thinking along those lines today as I sat calorie counting - a really useful reminder of how calories quickly run away with you. Knowledge is power. I am hoping good habits will form and ultimately enable me to come off meds eventually - but I can see how your method could work. We are all different. Happy for the moment to stop the noise, and take a breather. Thanks for sharing.

Crikeyalmighty · 17/06/2025 23:45

@Joyt35 also in all honesty I’m not a snacker, I don’t get constant food noise- my problem has been lack of consistency for months at a time, too big portions in an evening and wine and I stopped weighting myself too - I have good willpower as well - found it useful for a kickstart and use the principles, far more protein, low carb and a lot more water!!

Yes low carbs and more protein 👍 . Going to checkout more chickpea. Lentil, pulse recipes - prefer these to most meat, save for chicken. Back to basics, all the things I know I know but forgot, (or deliberately pushed to back of my mind). Portion control has been an issue too. Keep it up.

Yeah I've seen it before and always wanted to try it, whilst I'm getting better i always worry about raw meat so tend to slightly overcook it so beef would be a great choice.

Unfortunately I live in a set of small towns and we are lucky that a cat cafe has just opened! Probably about two decades away from a hot pot place😅

Sorry I can't help much as I haven't really felt any difference so far in taste of food just more able to say no!

Im just doing slimming world at the moment with the jabs. I hope you get some better advice

MooBaggage · 18/06/2025 08:45

@Joyt35 my food tastes changed too, pretty quickly after starting on MJ in January. Mainly for the good, as all my sugar cravings disappeared, and I have no interest in carbs now.

I stick to chicken mostly, and can sometimes cope with sausages which I bake. If I'm feeling like I haven't eaten enough, I'll make a protein drink, so I know I've at least had something.

Towards the end of each week I get my love for food back, so I make the most of those couple of days and have different meals!

Tons of water (I shake some lime juice in mine to give it a bit of flavour) and lots of veg - baby spinach is my friend 😊

Halfway through my Norfolk holiday and having a great time - went swimming in the sea yesterday, so I know I'm on holiday 😀

Weirdly, I haven't had any night headaches this week - this is my only negative side effect and I get them most nights - worse in the first few post-injection nights.

The only differences I can think of are (a) I'm not at work, so not stressed - am sleeping much better too and/or (b) I'm eating more carbs as am cooking for the family, so eating more 'normally'.

Not sure which one is making the difference!

OP posts:
Crikeyalmighty · 18/06/2025 09:12

@MooBaggage the carbs thing is very probable - as one of the known side effects with those who do keto is headaches

Crikeyalmighty · 18/06/2025 09:19

@Joyt35 yes, as you say it’s easy to get out the habit of portion control and sneak in farm shop coffee and cakes etc or a breakfast cafe triple cheese toastie etc on a far too regular basis, even if the main meals you make are very healthy - as someone said to me you have probably been putting on literally 1/2 a lb a week for 2 years - simply be being very slightly over what you need- which sounds nothing , but over time really adds up - it’s not like I’ve been mainlining pasties , pizza and haribo every day
