Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

@alwaysscared you have to follow medical advice. No point worrying. Have a plan. Remember protein is really important for healing. So try for high quality food and lower sugar. Remember, you have agency, weight gain isn’t just something that happens. Weigh yourself regularly and adjust accordingly. If your recovery goes well, you may be able to restart sooner, but a month is not much in a lifetime so don’t fret. Best of luck with the op x.

MooBaggage · 14/06/2025 23:26

@alwaysscared you've lost loads and loads of weight - you definitely won't put it all back on. You've done so well 😊

When's the op happening - will keep fingers crossed all goes well and you stay strong and on track and recover well. Stay with us and keep doing all the things you were doing when on the MJ - protein, fibre, water xxx

Morning folks! Its that time again, weekly weigh in…I lost 1.9lbs!! Today’s weight was 13st 12.3lbs! (I was a pound lighter most of the week but hey ho!!)

I feel motivated and with it, and its reflecting in the scale! We have a few little victories for me here - one, I have reached under 14st, which I can hardly believe! Two, I have hit 100lbs lost on my weight loss journey this week (ok, .3 of a pound off but I did hit it in the week 😂). Not all is MJ, in 2021 I was 21st, slowly got down to under 19 before hitting up Mounjaro last summer at around 18st 8ish.

Its funny how though, I genuinely thought I’d be a size 12-14 at this weight and I am not even fully out of size 18s yet!! I have realised that actually, I will probably need to be under 10st to feel that way (and a mid range healthy BMI for my height is the lower end of 9st!). I am obviously a lot, lot smaller. But my body has stayed mostly the same as its shrunk - still a B belly, still an apron. So its sometimes hard to fully grasp the size difference.

I mentioned last week I need to set some new goals and I’ve decided my next one is August 17th. That will be the day I take my 53rd jab, and the end of Year 1 on MJ! By then, I would love to hit 13st. Its only 9 weeks - so it may be a bit much of a reach to lose 12.3lbs but its definitely doable! In between, I also have to hit the half stone mark for 13st7 - which is hopefully in mid July!

hope everyone is feeling good and doing well!!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 15/06/2025 11:37

Feeling quite pleased with myself. My step mum had a oura ring (smart ring) she didn’t need so I’ve got that set up and it has motivated me to go for a brisk walk first thing this morning (with 3kg weighted vest) and I’ve arranged to go for a swim with my son after lunch. We’ve gone to splash sessions before but he’s going to do some lengths with me. I’ve not done proper swimming lengths in 1.5years so I have very low expectations but I just feel really positive with my weight loss and fitness journey. Week 4 nearly done and I’ve lost 7kg 15.5lbs. I have a long way to go and I’m so looking forward to having old clothes in my wardrobe fit me again.

gimmemounjaro · 15/06/2025 11:44

Congrats @Darlinghagon breaking the 14st barrier and 100lbs lost, that is certainly a red letter day 💪

And to you @lifetheuniverseandeverything42, over a stone on your first pen is amazing (I lost 4lbs 🤨)
Are you going to stay on 2.5mg?
It’s funny how it all ties together, losing weight, wanting to exercise etc, I have found I take better care of myself in all sorts of ways now.

HumBumBum · 15/06/2025 11:52

Omg @DidILeaveTheGasOn I have ALL the mini goals possible (in fact, I still keep changing the goal posts for my end goal as there’s no way I could’ve faced the fact that I had so much weight to lose - I only joined this thread when I’d actually lost 5 stone as I couldn’t think in such big numbers - multiple goals is what does it for me)

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 15/06/2025 11:54

@gimmemounjaro I’ve actually lowered the dose a bit as I found the indigestion a bit much to handle on 2.5 so only taking 1.67. I am prone to indigestion and vomiting (HG in both pregnancies) so I will very slowly ramp it up if I need to but it seems to be working for me at the moment. I take it on a Monday so have low cal during the week but I don’t mind upping the calories a bit at the weekend. Still in deficit but just a bit more relaxed about things. Had half a scone with cream and jam this morning for Father’s Day with my husband and kids which was lovely but I had no problem only having half.

gimmemounjaro · 15/06/2025 12:01

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42
Sounds good, and you will save quite a bit if you can stay on the lower doses long term. I had a Greggs sausage and omelette bap this morning to celebrate a successful run, never normally eat that kind of thing but it was absolutely lush. It didn’t cross my mind to buy anything else and far from triggering a binge, now I don’t want any lunch. MJ is magic.

Amarajean · 15/06/2025 14:27

Hi all
Well I'm a bit disappointed with my weight loss! Only lost 46.2lbs since December so that's just over a lb a week.
Thought I could lose it quicker than that. I've still got 5 stone to lose!!
Anyway,I'm eating better and doing some exercise, can't do much as I have osteoarthritis in both knees! But at least the nausea has more or less gone now.
Well done to the losers this week! 😄

MooBaggage · 15/06/2025 16:17

@Amarajean that's a brilliant loss and exactly what they say should be happening - and I'm sure that's more than 1lb a week - it's only been 28 weeks since Dec 1st so you're nearer to 2lb a week than one?

I always think what would you be if you hadn't started on MJ - chances are I'd still be 20 stone 3lb, which I was in mid-Jan, or probably half a stone heavier, knowing me! So this direction is brilliant, at whatever pace 💪💪

OP posts:
Evenstar · 15/06/2025 16:19

@Amarajean that is loads and recommended to lose 1-2lbs a week. I have lost 25lbs since the middle of October and prior to Mounjaro I had lost 19.5lbs and no more for a long time so you need to trust the process and accept that for some of us it is a slower process. I have an underactive thyroid and am post menopausal so am happy to have lost this much.

Remember that healthy weight loss is 1-2lb a week and you haven't been able to eat healthily for some of that time due to side effects, plus as a diabetic it will be harder so give yourself credit, you've done really well.

I must admit, I think we all focus too much on losing weight quickly and I have become more able to deal with this with age. I have lost around 5stone in a year and am happy with that. It's sustainable, I have enough loose skin even at this pace and, having spent a lifetime losing and regaining weight I want this to be the time I get it right

NotsosunnyShropshire · 15/06/2025 16:51

NewbieMJ · 04/06/2025 12:27

What a lovely post @MabelSpan

Can't wait to get in about the new clothes too @MooBaggage . I LOVE clothes. I have bought 1 size 14 in a monsoon dress I had my eye on for ages, and it came down in the sale and I thought, yes, meant to be. That dress WILL fit me at some point. Since getting over half-way on my weight loss journey, I realise I have made the switch in my head to "I will" be slim. I have no doubt now which feels incredible. Like many of us, I had assumed obesity was a burden I would carry for life. Not any more.

"Clothes of wonder and joy" here we come.

I needed an evening dress for a posh dinner later this year. Last year I wore a size 24 dress. The other day I ordered a size 20 evening dress on ebay. I’m determined to get in to it, despite my current stall (damn those same 2lbs!).

I’ve already dropped a size in jeans and most of my tops are either huge or very loose. I think I need to do a clear out. I will probably keep some of the decent label size 24 stuff for now. Just in case……..

Gingercar · 15/06/2025 17:16

@amarajean, I hear what you’re saying, but don’t be discouraged. I’m less than a month into this, and I can’t tell you how over the moon I’d be to have lost that much. You’re doing it!! Keep at it.

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/06/2025 17:21

@NotsosunnyShropshire After a previous weight loss attempt I got rid of almost all my size 24s and regretted it so much when I regained weight as I hadn't realised how many of the good quality brands have gone since then so the really nice stuff has proved impossible to replace.
This time, although I hope this is the last time, I am keeping anything I think I would miss

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 15/06/2025 18:52

Hello all. Making one of my sporadic visits to say hello and loving the clothes chat. I have always loved clothes and one of my greatest joys is wearing all the outfits that I planned in my head over many years for that mythical day when I would be slim.

I had a funny clothes NSV this week; I texted DD to rescue the washing from the line just before the rain arrived. A few minutes later she texted back to say that she’d made it in time, but she was very sorry to say that she thought my jeans had shrunk in the wash. They hadn’t, of course. They were just my new size 14s from Vinted! They are admittedly quite a bit smaller than the size 22s I was wearing about 13 months ago Grin

Amarajean · 15/06/2025 19:41

Thanks @MooBaggage a 2lb a week loss makes me feel a bit better(I'm rubbish at maths)
I know you're right @QueenOfHiraeth as a diabetic it's going to take slightly more time to loose. Well done on you're 5 stone loss, you must feel amazing? I still have 5 stone to lose.
Congrats on your weight loss too @Evenstar you're doing so well!

Thanks @Gingercar you'll get there,I should take my own advice and just say these things take time.
About 20 years ago I lost 5 stone in 6 months through diet and exercise,so I thought I'd be able to do that again only with the aid of mj, I'm post menopausal and 4 babies later I think I should just calm down and be thankful the weight is coming off slowly but surely!
You guys on here are so lovely, thanks to all 😍

FlourPowa · 15/06/2025 20:15

Evening everyone! Some amazing losses on this thread!

I have weighed myself today and I am now in the 14stone range (only just 14stone, 13lb and 3/4 but still…) Starting 29th January at 18stone 4lbs. I know I have a very long way to go yet and caught sight of myself in the ring camera earlier and it was a bit shocked by how I looked but by clothes are a lot baggier and people are really starting to notice. And above everything else I just feel better and for the first time in years, my weight isn’t the last thing I think about before I go to sleep and the first thing I think about in the morning

I have been on 5mg for a few months now and am STILL having a lot of side effects, mostly nausea and tiredness with some acid reflux thrown in for good measure. But I am taking my first 7.5mg tomorrow as the suppression is totally wearing off and this weekend I have fallen back into my old ways and snacked and snacked. I’m nervous about the increased side effects but I need to move up. Here’s to a new week

RainbowConnection1 · 15/06/2025 20:23

Hello! It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted and I have finally made it over the two stone loss.
SW: 18st 10
CW: 16st 9
TW: 11st

It’s taken me 13 weeks to get here but bit by bit the weight is coming off. I feel so much better, have more energy and some of my clothes are far too big. I’m wearing dresses and skirts more and just feel more confident in myself.

I wish this medication existed years ago!

Amarajean · 16/06/2025 10:38

So,after moaning yesterday about my slow weight loss I've only gone and had a whoosh!
I was 101kg I'm now 99kg so that's 2kg in a week! I have woke up starving as well but I'm going to stick to my shredded wheat, as that loss has just motivated me to keep going.😁

QueenOfHiraeth · 16/06/2025 12:29

@Amarajean And after giving you advice I think I've found the weight you've lost! 😂
I'm not too concerned as I have been a bit off-piste since my holiday so need to get back on track. I think I've made enough excuses so need to get back to meal planning

alwaysscared · 16/06/2025 15:15

So, my op has been postponed for 2 months 🙄, I was all geared up to stop MJ for a bit but now I don’t need to. TBH it has been making me feel pretty ill for the last couple of weeks (although I could just be ill), so I might just drop down to 5mg again. I’m not feeling any more suppression on 7.5mg, and I really don’t think it’s a good idea to go up with how rough I’ve been feeling.

MooBaggage · 16/06/2025 15:21

Oh no! That's a total pain re: your op...

Sorry it's another wait - even without the MJ palavers that's annoying xxx

Thanks @MooBaggage, yes, I’m not best pleased. I may have sworn a bit, not at them! Luckily my son is a swearer with his ASD, so it didn’t shock him too much!
