Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

@akaFrosty Is this your first 5mg pen or a later one? If it is your first I would stick with the 5 and try to ride this out as you are not supposed to go up faster than 4-weekly, if it's a subsequent one you could use some of your "extra" dose to increase to 6.25 for a couple of weeks. I'd go to 7.5mg for next pen either way

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's my 2nd 5mg pen. After posting this morning, I injected 6mg for today's dose so I'll see how this week goes. I'm ordering my next pen tomorrow so I'll definitely get a 7.5mg pen.

taylorswift1989 · 11/06/2025 16:40

No, I know, it's really hard to figure out! I feel like some people are in a sweet spot where the dose seems to give them enough benefit to carry them through the week with ease. For me, so far, it's always been a struggle. I'm hopeful that a little bit more will be enough to give me a bit more ease around food.

I do feel like I'm learning good lessons but I also think my body needs more support from MJ to really get into the realm of long term healing. It's not just about "changing habits" though of course MJ helps with that. It's about healing from insulin resistance, which i do think needs medical support. I'm hopeful that I won't have to be on MJ for life - but I do think it will be at least a year of maintenance before I'm ready to trial coming off it altogether.

So yes, it's a long road ahead! The actual weight loss is not the hardest part, either!

MooBaggage · 11/06/2025 16:43

Definitely! I want to stay on some dose forever, to help with my PCOS and the insulin control, because life is infinitely better now - I still take huge joy in walking around my flat in bare feet because for years I've had to wear special slippers (and all special shoes) to manage my plantar fasciitis - which disappeared within a few days of starting on MJ! My feet are sooooo happy - I never want to go back to not having at least some MJ in my system 😍

@MooBaggage that's amazing. I can't wait to see what else this drug can do over the next few years. It almost seems too good to be true.

MooBaggage · 11/06/2025 16:51

For me - it's got rid of chronic plantar fasciitis, which I've had for over 10 years and have had steroid injections, physio and electric shock therapy - none of which worked.

It's got rid of my IBS-D, which was so intrusive into my every day living - I had to plan all trips out of the house around the nearest loo - going for walks in the middle of nowhere was impossible. The freedom I feel now being able to just go out and not think about where the nearest toilets are is incredible!

It's also reduced my alcohol intake to an extent I didn't ever think possible - from between 50 - 100 units a week to sometimes 0, sometimes maybe 6, if I've gone out on a Friday. I was drinking every day before MJ, several very large gins/bottle of wine.

The weight loss is amazing, but not the whole gig for me at all. I'm hoping research on MJ will end up helping people with addictions, but plus other auto immune conditions - be prescribed on the NHS and easily available for e.g. PCOS, as I think the IBS and Plantar Fasciitis were both caused by chronic inflammation, which has gone now.

I've found it has massively improved my chronic pain, the pain and swelling in my legs from lipedema (different to lympheodema, it's a fatty tissue disorder), my hay-fever isn't as bad as it usually is my asthma is greatly improved. Even the adhd seems to be calmed a bit by it

It really does almost seem too good to be true. I think this could be the 21st century equivalent to antibiotics in terms of improving health across the board for a vast number of people

Zebracat · 11/06/2025 17:25

@MooBaggage please carry on posting, it’s really interesting. That is som3 list of improvements.
I’m drinking tea and trying to find some motivation to make a curry. If not, it’s fishfingers again. I started MJ to lose weight to help my chronic back issues. It is so much improved it’s almost miraculous, I keep forgetting my stick and managing. 3 months ago I was in Birmingham without one and had to send my dd to buy another because I couldn’t walk from the Bullring to New St Station ( it’s next door). But I haven’t enjoyed feeling unwell, although that may indeed be a virus.
If I’m doing this long term, guess I’m going to have to brave the golden dose. I’ve lost 10 kilos, got another 10 or so to lose to get to overweight. I have checked how much to get to under bmi 25, but it was so much, and so daunting that I forgot it and I’m not looking again until the next 10 are gone. But I have lovely things to look forward to, like under 95, under 90, within 10k of dhs weight, etc. It’s important to remember that we are moving forwards all the time. I’ve got cheekbones now! And some of my least attractive bras are too big. And bmi is a pretty crude tool, but cheekbones don’t lie.

InfoSecInTheCity · 11/06/2025 17:29

@taylorswift1989 I started in September last year and am now at 5 stone lost, average is 1.8lb lost per week over that period.

Gone from size 22/24 down to size 12, put my diabetes into remission, reduced my cholesterol, reduced my resting heart rate, completed the C25K program.

it can feel like a long slog but it does work so just keep slogging on.

NervyWegovy · 11/06/2025 19:19

Thanks @MooBaggage and @akaFrostyI do know it was wobbly but I just went back to another time when a chair broke when i was visiting my mum years ago in hospital and it went so my mind just went back there but it was our home set so I know I've been sitting on it heavier for years.

NervyWegovy · 11/06/2025 19:26

Second week on the jabs is a bit weird. Im not feeling nauseous or that full ( which is a shame) but went to the cinema early today where we'd got used to having nachos and other bits. We left before having lunch and saw two films in which I only had tea and water and in between went to look to see if there was anything healthy near by and there wasn't so didnt have anything - even a free sample of the pulled pork! Luckily a chicken place opened after and got a grilled chicken wrap with salad.

So mentally a big turn around as would have easily had nachos before or some other bad food.

So far in June I've lost 10.5lbs my aim is to double it and then I'll get past 100 and be in the range I was when I used to start slimming world so in a way it'll feel like I've actually started

alltablenochair · 11/06/2025 21:51

Interestingly this is the first summer I have been on MJ and my hayfever has been turbocharged. Fexofenadine is just about working. I need to increase it but can't because the higher the dose goes, the more unsteady I get.

I'm on 12.5 at the moment (and have been for 4 months now) but I am pretty certain that it's now nowhere near as effective as it used to be. I've lost all my previous data so I'm doing one last 12.5mg pen so I have some data to see if it's just me thinking this or if it genuinely isn't doing what I need it to.

For your previous data, are you able to see the info you provided with each pen order and use that to retrospectively plot out your progress?

I’d be lost without all my data, I have smart scales so it’s all stored in their app, but that’s linked to my Apple Health so it’s all in there, which is linked to MyFitnessPal so it’s also available there too and I have that on my own spreadsheet too so I have duplicates on top of duplicates 😂

gimmemounjaro · 11/06/2025 22:20

Not been on for a while but thought I would pop in, lovely to see so many familiar names.. I will read the thread properly in a mo.

I am plodding on, just slithered under 12 stone last week which is 5st+ down and into healthy BMI territory 🥳
(By the skin of my teeth / 0.1 lb so fully expecting it not to last - the last stone has been an absolute slog and very up and down.)

I was just browsing through the weight history on my Fitbit, I have been recording weight intermittently since 2017. I thought it might be interesting to know how many total pounds I have lost since then, counting every single loss, through all the many gains.

My first recorded weight was 206lbs and now I’m at my lowest ever, 167.9, so a total difference of 38.1lbs, 4.5 stone.

I thought that with my habitual yo-yoing and cycles of losing and then gaining, I might have lost as much as 100lbs in total.

It’s actually 319.5lbs. I have lost almost 23 stone to get to 4.5 stone lighter, I can’t believe it. It will be more than that too because I don’t use the Fitbit regularly for this. I started MJ 11lbs higher than the highest entry on there for example. It’s probably more like 400lbs. And that’s in less than 8 years - I have been obese / overweight or trying not to be for at least 35 years.

I suppose this might explain why my metabolic health is wrecked. I have spent my whole life losing and gaining weight. I’m expecting maintenance to be very weird / hard, my body will be completely flummoxed I expect 😣

alltablenochair · 11/06/2025 22:24

@InfoSecInTheCity unfortunately not. I managed to recover most of my data with a data cable but I was using an app. I can't seem to be able to back up the data from the app on my old phone and transfer it over to my new phone.

Lesson learnt the hard way- I now have a lanyard for my phone!

InfoSecInTheCity · 11/06/2025 22:31

@gimmemounjaro my history looks like yours, I’ve just been in to MyFitnessPal and looked at my weight history and earliest records in there are from 2012 when I was 271lbs, today I’m 147 lbs so 124lbs lighter (or 46%) but in-between those points it’s been a heck of a lot of up and down.

This is interesting to read, my hayfever is awful this year. In fact it’s the reason I’m awake and posting at an unreasonable hour. I’m planning on asking the GP for something for it today, whereas the last few years it’s been minimal.

Does anyone have any quick, on the go lunchbox ideas? I’m sure this has been done to death but I’m struggling. I seem to have so many appointments for my kids (additional needs) at the moment and I’m struggling to manage my own food around them. I used to like making a vast pasta salad at the beginning of the week, but I do find that lower carb / high protein works well for me now.

Carolwithane · 12/06/2025 08:56

Popping in to report a 5lb loss (I only weigh every couple of weeks) Taking me to 2.5 stone loss since mid January. So half a stone a month and under 100kg 🥳

Still a long weigh to go but celebrating the small victories along the way. I'd like another 7lbs off before I go on holiday at end of July

Was there a conversation about B bellies a while ago? I definitely have one of those and the top part now seems bigger than the bottom 🙄 Any hope of this reducing?

Im a pearl so always had a big bum and thighs the belly thing is a new "added bonus" 🤦‍♀️😂

MooBaggage · 12/06/2025 09:15

@Carolwithane yay!! that's brilliant 😃

Re: B Bellies - yes my 'bottom' tummy is disappearing faster than the 'top' one 🙄 The top one is going slowly though - I'm getting a bit more of a waist, so I'm hoping that over time, they'll both eff off 😬

Weigh day for me too, before I go on holiday on Saturday for a week and I have hit 50lbs loss - hurrah! Feels like a really big number....!

Next mini target - I need to lose 4lbs more to get to the magical BMI under 35, so I'm 'only' obese 😂

Am hoping the holiday doesn't scupper me too much, but at the same time I'm not really worrying about it - normal people are able to go on holiday, put a couple of lbs on and then get rid of it, so am trying to get into the mindset of it not being the end of the world....

@alltablenochair lunches are my least good meal.... I tend to either have leftovers from the night before - so today for lunch I'll be having a piece of chicken with some spinach because I cooked a load last night for me and my Mum, so have got a couple of pieces left over.

Sometimes if I'm WFH I'll do scrambled egg and a piece of bacon on spinach.

If I'm going into the office I tend to just make up a fruit smoothie and choc protein drink the night before and take both those in to have for breakfast and lunch, then eat a hot meal for dinner.

Sorry - not very inspiring!

My go-to packed lunch is cooked chicken or prawns, salad and some nuts. I always keep cooked chicken in the fridge now so it's easy to grab. Not very inspiring sorry, but works for me.

@InfoSecInTheCity morning, sorry to ask again. I think it was you who shared the Google doc previously of the weight loss tracker? Would you mind sharing again? I thought I saved it and can't find it now x

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/06/2025 09:44

@alltablenochair if I need a packed lunch I tend to just throw together a salad, bear in mind I’m super lazy when it comes to ‘cooking’ you may be more willing to put some effort in 😂 I have a plastic jar type Tupperware so put lettuce leaves, halved cherry tomatoes, grated carrot and either torn up wafer thin chicken or boiled egg chopped up. Then in a little pot I put some kind of salad dressing. That way when I’m ready to eat I just tip the dressing in, put the lid on, give it a shake and it’s ready to eat.
