Roll up, roll up...thread 3 for the loveliest bunch of losers!

"Onwards & Downwards" has become our little motto for the days when it all feels a bit tough and that wine / chocolate / cake looks a bit too bloody tempting.

Lots of love,
Lass x

Moan time! I failed at my golden dose! I ordered needles recommended on here, but when it came to injecting it hurt so much trying to put it in my skin I gave up! The needle seems thicker than the pen one I use. Luckily I had my 5mg pen waiting so just used that.

I think it's because you blunt the needle by poking it through the rubber. It's possible to buy the stuff where you extract the drug with one needle and then replace it with the tiny ones we normally use for piercing the skin. I'm afraid I don't know the exact details though as I'm not using a fifth dose.

That makes sense, thanks for the info.

For anyone using extra dose - So presume you'd have to use use 2 needle tips per dose to keep sterile? 1 to withdraw dose from pen & 1 to inject?
I've had a quick look & found these, it's a screw tip on the syringe with different needle gauge/sizes available.

(I've not done my extra dose yet, got some 32g 6mm sterile disposable syringes recommended elsewhere, good to know other options if this doesn't work 😊)

checking in to new thread- I tend to lurk more than post but well done all on amazing losses. W4d1 for me today. Got up late (thanks DH) so had to do call in to SheMed with 3 kids running around. Only a 0.2kg loss this week after decent losses (5kg) over last two weeks. This would normally totally demoralise me and I’d binge eat and give up, but from reading these threads I’ve learnt that this is what to expect in week 3, that starting a short weights workout on the peloton is the right thing for me, but might have led to retained water. And it’s been half-term so lots of temptation! Thanks for all the support here!

DBatteryBand · 31/05/2025 11:52

Just a heads up for fellow sweetcorn addicts - apparently we shouldn't be eating it! I mean, it's probably better than eating a packet of chocolate hobnobs, but it seems it has a high-glycemic wotsit (not very up with the jargon) and can throw blood sugars all out of whack. Swizz.

Fatrosrhun · 31/05/2025 12:29

I still think that as long as you’re not smothering it with butter it’s fine once in a while. If it’s fresh veg or fruit I’m not going to avoid it.

I was laughing to myself earlier, I kept reading how people were spending less on food on MJ. Well in the 10 days since I started I’ve had four bags of salad, three punnets of tomatoes, a pack of sunflower seeds, a pack of pumpkin seeds, a pack of pine nuts, a pack of chia seeds. Four punnets of grapes, two punnets of strawberries, two punnets of blueberries, a punnet of raspberries and a pack of pomegranate seeds and three big tubs of Greek yogurt- plus obviously other things for evening meals. Not cheap, although really tasty and works well for me as a vegetarian getting protein in! I’ve not had much suppression and still get a lot of food noise/cravings. I’m hoping for a little more next level up, without preventing me eating healthily.

Fatrosrhun · 31/05/2025 12:31

Oh, and my new journal has arrived- to log what I’m injecting/eating/feeling/losing on the way

Oh I love the journal @Fatrosrhun! Mind you I love stationery, it's like crack to me. I miss the lovely big Paperchase shops.

@Seahorsesplendour Ah bless you, poor thing. I hope your mood lifts as the day progresses.

SharpLemonEagle · 31/05/2025 13:01

W2D1 here.
5lb down in week one which I’m happy about but was almost expecting more! My weight fluctuates up and down this same 5lb so doesn’t seem like a proper loss yet! Hoping to lose a few more pounds this week and that’ll take me lower than I’ve been for a long time. Looking forward to feeling clothes a bit looser and actually seeing the weight loss! Well done to everyone else on their losses!

Macs18 · 31/05/2025 13:18

I am week 3 day 2 now. I had no loss this week, but I was off work, a time when I usually would struggle to control my eating. So just to have maintained is progress there.
Total loss so far is 6lbs.

Fatrosrhun · 31/05/2025 13:42

I am a bit bored. My coffee box is really quiet today and I’m stuck here for another 3 hours. Next to my cakes again!

MounjaronOnMyMind · 31/05/2025 13:50

Hi everyone

I did my first ever jab this morning. And it's my birthday! Although the timing was accidental, it is the best gift.

After so much deliberating, I found it easy and I'm looking forward to feeling more in control of my eating.

Fatrosrhun · 31/05/2025 13:55

Happy birthday!

Cucumberinginplease · 31/05/2025 13:58

For those asking, ideally you should change needles for the 5th dose. i.e.draw up with one and then change to a fresh one to inject. Piercing the bung at the end of the pen does blunt the needle. It's not mandatory to change it, but it will potentially hurt more when injecting due to the bluntness.

stripesdotsdashes · 31/05/2025 14:16

Thanks everyone for advice on changing the needle as it'll be blunted. I thought i was just a wimp!
Annoying I'll have to buy more needles again, I'm starting to think this 5th dose malarkey isn't worth it. Saying that I was hoping I'd only be on it for a few months bit due to my snail progress I fould be in for the long run!
Am I right in remembering reading somewhere that MJ doesn't work for 10-15% of people? That would just be my bloody luck I'm in that category.

hottubsundays · 31/05/2025 14:37

SussexLass87 · 31/05/2025 10:22

NSW...

Flatter tummy
Had to buy a smaller bra
Better skin
More mental focus
Applied for some new jobs!

Love the good thi n s that this brings, it’s not all about the result on the scales!

I’ve lost 6cm around my waist in 3 weeks and I’ve been chucking out knickers as they are suddenly baggy!

Mytagalongs · 31/05/2025 15:02

Took my first 5mg last night. Suppression is really strong again, slightly nauseous, can’t bring myself to eat yet today.
That month has flown by!

PersonaNonFatta · 31/05/2025 15:12

Happy birthday and good luck @MounjaronOnMyMind

I was disappointed that I felt hungry in the night when couldn't sleep, even though I'd had my 2nd jab yesterday, too.

Making up for it today... made a shake for late breakfast and am still feeling like I've eaten a rhino 4 hours later. Beyond full up. Not sure I'll need dinner!

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 31/05/2025 15:57

Start of week 4 for me, 10.5lb down since I started, really happy with that. Lost everything I gained whilst comfort eating my way through post-surgery recovery since March.

I am planning to try a 3.75mg dose next week if enough left in the pen before starting new 5mg pen the week after.

i am with Voy, I guess I’ll have to pretend on the app I’ve taken 5mg when I log it, what do others do if going a bit rogue on doses?

I’m with Voy too but a couple of weeks behind you. I’m planning on doing the same. You can just move your order date back, say you missed a few days if they mention it.

Gingefringe · 31/05/2025 16:56

W5 D2 here and I've lost 11 lb so far, which I'm thrilled about. I injected the 5th dose on Thursday - it was a bit of a faff as I found it difficult to grip the pen and injection in one hand in order to draw up the liquid, but I did manage it. I didn't feel any pain when inserting the needle. There are a few videos on youTube that give some guidance.

I'm undecided whether to go up to 5mg next week - I may continue at 2.5mg as I still have good suppression and I don't have any cravings. In fact, there's a box of cornettos in the freezer that's been there a month and is still full - I would normally have scoffed 2 or 3 a night.

I wanted to get the pen on the usual schedule to give me a bit of a buffer as I have moved my jab day back a little and also it will work better for my upcoming summer holiday. Oh well, I’ll see what logging options I have next week.

i am using Shotsy as well as I am thinking I will change to a cheaper supplier a bit later down the line and wanted to have a full history so I’ll log it correctly on there.

Fatrosrhun · 31/05/2025 17:41

What’s Shotsy? Yes I will have to change in a month or so too. They’ve given me 20% off this month, so I can stay another month. It’s a shame, I really like them, but it goes up to £300 a month for the higher doses. I do really like the support though. Their Joy is amazing for asking questions.

Another app where you can log the jabs, weight, side effects etc all in one place. Someone else on here recommended it.

For those of you taking a golden dose, my friend is a gp and uses these... means your can still use the lovely wee pen needles (I always get a few extra sent with my pen)

Took my first 5ml dose last night and really not feeling well today, hoping it improves tomorrow and that is not the same next week 🤞
Lost 5kg since starting though 🙂

Has anyone missed a week?

I'm going to a festival in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking of skipping a dose, I've not had too bad side effects but I don't really want to be feeling nauseous or having the runs in a portaloo! And food options will obviously be limited and probably not the healthiest which might make me feel worse

I don't want to undo my progress but equally want to enjoy my time. I'm not sure what to do!

I’ve missed last week. I went away with my daughter only for three days and didn’t want to risk it being the week I got side effects. So I take my 4th dose this Monday. I haven’t lost any more but I haven’t gained anything and ate and drank what I would normally do - which is pretty good - to be honest. I had one ice cream, breakfast which I don’t normally - and wine and am feeling quite positive. I
