May Starters Thread 3 ~ Onwards & Downwards!

1000 replies

SussexLass87 · 29/05/2025 21:05

Roll up, roll up...thread 3 for the loveliest bunch of losers!

"Onwards & Downwards" has become our little motto for the days when it all feels a bit tough and that wine / chocolate / cake looks a bit too bloody tempting.

Lots of love,
Lass x

Weird SE today...my feet are smaller! 🤣

All of my summer sandals are too big and I can't walk in them...wasn't expecting this.

Time to get on Vinted and give my trotters a good buff 😅

Odd - I looked down at my canvas shoes this morning and realised I could put a finger down the back of them! Need new ones.

Has anyone missed a week?

I'm going to a festival in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking of skipping a dose, I've not had too bad side effects but I don't really want to be feeling nauseous or having the runs in a portaloo! And food options will obviously be limited and probably not the healthiest which might make me feel worse

I don't want to undo my progress but equally want to enjoy my time. I'm not sure what to do!

As it's a few weeks away, could you have a few 8 day weeks so you're not feeling the full effect while you're at the festival, but still have some benefit? It seems a shame to potentially undo all your hard work. I've left 8 days between injections to fit round a weekend away, and it's been fine - a bit hungrier on day 8, but it's not unmanageable.

Really struggling to eat and my kids keep commenting on me skipping dinner, this is bad… i did eat some cherries but thats not enough and certainly not how i want to model healthy eating to my kids…. DP is away so it makes it even harder for me to be sat at the table… Confused
shemed just sent me my second dose and ive kept it at 2.5mg

Fatrosrhun · 31/05/2025 20:35

It’s funny how we all react so differently. Is it just our resistance to insulin? (Spell check changed that to resistance to insults at first!)

I think it's partly insulin resistance and partly where you inject. I think if you inject into the thigh, the side effects are less intense. Maybe the suppression lasts longer...? Not really sure though!

I had this the first week or so, I did explain to my girls about a new medication I was taking and said they shouldn’t be concerned. They are 12 and 14 so they were old enough to understand. I didn’t want them thinking I was just starving myself to lose weight!

Herewegoagain80 · 30/05/2025 06:52

I think there’s quite a lot of us on here that will be hitting the magic 4 week mark this weekend, me included. I hope everyone is seeing results, no matter how big or small. Here are my losses:

W1 4lb
W2 3lb
W3 1.5lb
W4 2lb
Total loss 10.5lb

The weight loss has been slow and steady but the main thing is I’ve had no side effects. It will be interesting to see if that changes when I move up to the next dose. I’m due my next jab today but am not moving up to 5 yet. I’m going to count the clicks and take 3.75 and see how I get on in the next week. If all is well, I’ll move up to 5 next week.

I’m hoping for a little more suppression on a higher dose as I’ve still been getting hungry and able to eat normal meals. It’s just been easier to make the right choices as a lot of the usual food noise has disappeared. I’m still amazed at how this has happened. I feel so much calmer and not having a battle of wills with myself to stop myself eating rubbish most of the day.

@Herewegoagain80 i think we started on the same day at roughly the same time if I remember correctly. I’ve lost the same amount as you too! 10.5lb!!
I did the golden dose this week - think I got about 3mg out and then will do the same as you next week and try 3.75mg for a week before moving up.
I feel like you do - calm and in control. It’s such a strange but wonderful feeling 😊

@SutekhsEars and @Fatrosrhun

How might insulin resistance affect how well it works? 2.5mg is working very well on me, so I'm wondering what that says about me, and whether that's a good or bad thing!

Fatrosrhun · 01/06/2025 07:40

If it’s working well I’d stay on 2.5.

Seahorsesplendour · 01/06/2025 07:41

Morning all!

so after waking up in the grumps yesterday I spent all morning at war with myself! For the first time since starting MJ at lunch time I over ate (still no where near what I would have had pre MJ but definitely felt like binge territory (which is weird as it was chicken salad with salad topper of beans etc , lentil crisps & 2 Jaffa cakes 🤭)

anyway it was quite satisfying and I was stuffed for rest of the day & had protein powder & banana & spinach smoothie for tea as all I could manage!

it was definitely my self sabotage side trying to take control. This is the longest I have managed healthy eating for years & my body was trying to rebel as it always does - hence my size as normally the hormones are victorious!

this morning I have woken up feeling good and incredibly grateful for giving myself this gift.

I feel like the MJ is helping me stop fighting myself!!

Maybe I really can be a thinner person!!!

glad to be sharing this journey with all you wonderful people it is quite a rollercoaster!

tostaky · 01/06/2025 08:19

Similar to you @Seahorsesplendour, i forced myself to have breakfast “like before”. I was gobsmacked at how huge that was!! A bagel, two scrambled egg and half an avocado. So yes it is “healthy” but the portion is too big! Next time i’ll have only half of that. (And to think i used to eat 2-3 bagels a day…. Blush)
i realise that was is wrong in my diet is portion size. I kind of knew it that i was overeating, but this morning’s breakfast really opened my eyes. Bye bye gigantic portions! Hello half portions!

Moneyordream · 01/06/2025 09:06

Hi all, I weighed in yesterday with another 3lb lose. I'm happy with it but worried the side effects are going to get worse. I jabbed Friday night and since last night yet again I have been on the toilet consistently. I'm worried it will be worse when I move up to 5mg next week and how will I be able to go to work. Any advice from anyone to help ease this as im taking relief capsules to no affect?

Loloj · 01/06/2025 10:01

Checking in on the new thread! I’m about to do my third jab today- I decided to try 9 days between jabs instead of 7 due to the horrible nausea I had last week. Supression was still there yesterday but had definitely worn off so I treated myself to a nice lunch out (which I thoroughly enjoyed). Fingers crossed for less SE this week. If this doesn’t work I might try half dosing- I don’t want to give up as it is definitely working I just want the nasty SE to go away!

Mounraine · 01/06/2025 10:15

D3 and as a daily weighter this is once again the lowest weight of the week. Going to try to maintain this this week as the suppression wears off

How about either reducing the amount you're injecting or splitting the dose? E.g inject half on your normal day and the other half 3 or 4 days later?

You don't have to go up to 5 mg.

I'm not a medical person.

Hope you feel better soon. Have you contacted your provider for advise? I have a health coach to contact if needed as well as another email address, but I'm with juniper so unsure if others have the same set up, but there should be someone you can contact. I wouldn't want to increase my dose either if SE were consistent.

Fatrosrhun · 01/06/2025 11:05

I’d speak to the provider too if possible if you’re experiencing lots of D+v. I couldn’t cope with life if I had big side effects. I certainly wouldn’t be moving up a dose.

Samuraipizzacat · 01/06/2025 11:32

Hello, has anyone stayed on the starter dose? I’m 2 weeks in and ordering my next round. My losses are pretty good so far and minimal side effects so I’m nervous to upset the status. But that means if it stops working as well near the tail end of the month I’m on this dose for a second month.
Im on wegovy so would be going from 0.25g to 0.5g

Also medexpress is not cheap as the doses go up! And it’s refusing my order weirdly.

26dX · 01/06/2025 11:34

@Samuraipizzacatim staying on 2.5 for the second month, if I find I need to up dose I’ll go up to 3.75 x

Fatrosrhun · 01/06/2025 11:41

I’ve got two more doses on my 2.5 pen and then hopefully I’ll get a bit more out of the golden dose. I’ve ordered a 5 pen next, but will take 3.75 if it has an affect on me to eke it out. I’d love to stay on 2.5 but it’s not had much affect on me at all - negative or positive. I don’t really want massive submissions but I’d like a bit! Currently I could eat anything and don’t particularly feel full.

SaintAgatha · 01/06/2025 12:16

@Samuraipizzacat I’ve stayed on the 2.5mg, took the first jab from the new pen last night. I do want to try the golden dose at some point as it seems so wasteful leaving it in the pen, but I also don’t have the headspace for it either at the moment - that’s a me issue, as it does seem fairly simple. I’m happy with my progress - bras fitting better, jeans feeling looser. I’ve not weighed properly yet as I don’t want to be tied to the scales, but I’m happy with what seems to be happening with the 2.5mg. I’ll weigh in a few weeks before I decide whether to go up to the 5mg.

I've just ordered 2nd pen, and staying at 2.5, no side effects so far so dont want to rock the boat!

I've done the same. I'm on W6D2 and the 2.5mg is still working a bit but nowhere like it did at the start.

I'm definitely starting on 3.75mg as although I haven't had many side effects at all, I don't want to tempt fate!

After a week of the dial not moving I've lost another 1lb so slow and steady here!

I've got a hysteroscopy under GA in two weeks and was worried I'd have to stop Mounjaro beforehand but consultant has said as long as I eat very lightly the day before there's no issues. Must be common now as they even had a leaflet about it!
