Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

@Tinybirdieim just starting week 2 (gravitating towards this group as I started so late in May and groups move fast!), I have had a few minor minor side effects. Diet Coke made me feel like I had morning sickness. It really made me feel awful. Too much coffee is the same.

I’ve had the odd mild tummy ache but considering I usually have those due to IBS it’s hard to correlate.
I have noticed a reduction in my IBS symptoms though interestingly!

I also find it a struggle to eat a decent amount of protein & fibre, I only seem able to achieve one or the other. Not a massive bean fan!

My go to for this is fruit n fibre with 0 fat Greek yoghurt. I try to get a small bowl in once a day

I know I should know the answer to this but I’ll ask anyway! My TDEE is 1200. If I eat 1200 but burn off say 200 with a walk, will this negatively impact my loss - do I need to eat another 200 or is the fact I’ve eaten 1200 the important bit?

It's up to you if you "eat back exercise calories". 1200 is low. How tall are you?

I’m 5ft 4, aged 53. Pharmacist said to aim for 1500 cals but fine to drop to 1200. My exercise will consist of walking, nothing more than that (for now at least)

dyzzidi · 01/06/2025 16:24

Hello I had my first jab on Friday. Feeling ok so far but a bit of a headache today upped my water. I’m trying to think of creative ways to have enough protein!

Spinningplates22 · 01/06/2025 17:01

whats everyone’s goals for this week? Mine is to start trying to do some weights, going to try a Caroline Girwan workout on you tube and will try to hit my steps. Didn’t do that last week as I came down with the worst head cold / Covid type bug. It has flattened me to be fair

shifting12345 · 01/06/2025 18:37

I’ve been doing 10km walking a week plus 3 days of weights for the last month and all the weight I lost immediately went back on in one portion of chips this week. Hence the push to start this… hoping my juniper consultation comes through tomorrow.

Height 5ft 4
SW 13st 9
GW 10st 10

Planning to carry on my healthy food choices and exercises.

WeMustGetOffTheMountain · 01/06/2025 18:42

Just jumping on. First dose currently in the post!

Tinybirdie · 01/06/2025 19:20

W1D2. Not feeling as much suppression today. But have managed to not snack and eat less for lunch and tea than I would usually. I'm toying with the idea of doing 800 calories on the 2 days after injection. That will allow me more leeway as my suppression wears off. Not sure though. Too early to make any firm plans

Potterson13 · 01/06/2025 19:29

I’ve been doing ok today. Had a banana when I woke up, a wrap from McDonald’s while the family stuffed themselves and then beans on toast for tea. I’m still not feeling overly hungry, though it is starting to creep back in which is surprisingly nice. Still not wanting to snack though which is nice.

put the summer quilt on tonight to see if my night sweats are genuinely because it’s boiling haha

I have done the first injection.

Was shocked to see that I have got to 14 st 12! I am 5’8 and have ballooned!

I really hope that this makes a difference.

SusanSHelit · 01/06/2025 19:51

Day two has gone alright I think.

I had two milky coffees for breakfast, I've never been a breakfast fan and I really wasn't hungry

Lunch I had a toasted bagel with avocado. This would typically be two not one

Dinner is paneer in butter chicken sauce with peppers and onion and half a pack of microwave pilau rice. This would often be a whole pack of rice plus naan/poppadoms

Allthebloodythings · 01/06/2025 20:21

I'm soon going to be another new starter 👋
I had a stroke 2 years ago and so was less mobile for quite some time after that, causing me to put weight on. I'm feeling more like myself now and ready to start tackling this.
Injections weren't on my radar, as I'm 28 bmi, but read last week that you can get them in this range if you have stroke history- so I've been down a little rabbit hole of research, ordered Mounjaro yesterday, was approved today and apparently it's now on it's way to me!
I don't work Fridays so I'm planning to inject on Thursday night so I'll have 3 days to get over any side effects.
Getting a bit obsessive about preparing now and can't wait to get started.

Seriestwo · 01/06/2025 20:34

I have ordered the injection.

I bought a gym membership too.

I need a total overhaul.

dyzzidi · 01/06/2025 21:04

I’m going to try and hit my exercise goal of one hour per day on my apple watch.

Tinybirdie · 01/06/2025 21:07

An hour a day!! I'd pass out! I'm so unfit it's not even funny. My job is very sedentary so I really need to up my steps every day

UglyBastardFace · 01/06/2025 21:13

What's this emphasis on protein? I've read up on the weight loss pack and they talk about eating less but nothing specifically about protein? What has got people tracking protein in particular?

RomanFruit · 01/06/2025 21:18

@UglyBastardFace I believe it's to help mitigate against the muscle loss that can happen when you lose weight quickly - to keep your body functioning as healthily as possible!

RomanFruit · 01/06/2025 21:22

I took my first jab last night. Not sure I'm particularly noticing any differences appetite-wise yet, but at least no unpleasant side effects to report!

My start weight is 11st 13lb, and my target weight is 10st 3lb (to get back into a healthy BMI). Am hoping the weight loss helps reduce some of my PCOS symptoms, too.

nexttonormal · 01/06/2025 21:25

First full 24 hours since jabbing and although I've not felt suppression in the way of not being able to stomach anything, I've eaten smaller portions of high protein foods and felt satisfied.

Drank 3.5l of water including my electrolytes and a fibre mix. Only side effect so far seems to have been a slight hangover like headache this morning.

Onwards and downwards as they say!

moremoremores · 01/06/2025 21:30

Took my 2nd jab & felt a bit lightheaded & with a slight headache but feeling ok now.

I need to drink more water, so that's my goal this week

moremoremores · 01/06/2025 21:30

@nexttonormal what fibre mix are you using?

FirstDayonthePlanet · 01/06/2025 21:35

Thornrose · 01/06/2025 15:31

This is all so new to me. I've only vaguely calorie counted and dabbled with low carb.

How the heck am I going to eat that much protein a day! I have bone broth which I could drink 2 cups a day I guess.

It feels like it's going to be expensive too!

Having had a 100g/protein goal in the past (apparently as a bare minimum), in all honesty the only way I could hit it was with protein powder smoothies as a supplement - about 40g made up with milk/yogurt. And yes it’s expensive to buy!

the clear protein is less sickly - makes like a watery cordial rather than a smoothie.

even then I found it tricky. it becomes a bit tedious eating tuna eggs and chicken breasts all the time. Especially when also trying to balance a calorie deficit!

Potterson13 · 01/06/2025 21:37

I also have a very sedentary job and I really struggle to get my steps in. I average around 2/3000 a day which I’m aware is shocking. I do have an hours lunch break which I intend to go for a walk in, but I’m so used to eating lunch at my desk and working through it I’m going to struggle to do that. I’m taking my trainers to work tomorrow though and I am motivated to take that opportunity!

Did you make the paneer yourself? I love paneer curry it'll be hard to not order it!
