Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

How quickly did people feel appetite suppression?

Booklover2021 · 30/05/2025 18:07

Hi all,
Got my first pen sitting in the fridge. Going to take it tonight after dinner. Any advice? Was planning on a couple of gins tonight but will that make me feel awful tomorrow?

I've heard people say alcohol is a very bad idea. Maybe best avoid it for your first dose. Or have the gin and start tomorrow!

How quickly did people feel appetite suppression?

I injected Wednesday evening and appetite suppressed the next day. It's my 2nd week and have suffered some heartburn which I didn't the first week. Good old Rennie's to the rescue!

Radiatorvalves · 30/05/2025 18:22

I had first jab at 2.30. I’d had a couple of pittas for lunch. I’m not feeling at all hungry. But usually I would be. Had a black coffee, a weak tea and quite a lot of water. No other impact as yet…

How is everyone this morning?

I had a rough night with the kids and then woke up absolutely drenched in sweat! Wondering if that’s a side effect. Time will tell!

I woke up absolutely boiling about 4.45am and didn’t know if that was the drugs or the warm weather!

BadgerFace · 30/05/2025 18:32

Just catching up after getting home from work. I have found the suppression has definitely been working after my first jab last night. I fasted from 7pm last night until 1pm today - partly due to work and partly because I used to try intermittent fasting. It was much easier than without the MJ! Small lunch and chicken & sweet potato for dinner. I hope it works!

Not any bad side effects although I felt a combination of alert and a tiny bit jittery today. Let’s see if that stays tomorrow…

Tinybirdie · 30/05/2025 18:45

I just had hot honey chicken wraps and scoffed down 2! Definitely not kicked in for me as yet.
I've ordered some protein powder from Amazon to try and boost protein intake. My husband assures me they taste fine!

I jabbed yesterday around 1pm I think. I was hungry this morning but nothing like usual. Started to feel a bit ropey around 11:30 so I had some granola. Wasn’t hungry at all but it did perk me up. Haven’t been hungry since, in fact I forced some food down me at tea time because I knew I needed something!

My Asda order has been pending since Monday. The photos were accepted and under review.
I sent ID which hasn't been acknowledged and I've just checked my bank and the payment has now disappeared!

Very frustrating. I'm tempted to try somewhere else now.

Honestly I was drenched! I was in a nightie/long t-shirt and I genuinely wondered at one point if I’d weed myself (TMI sorry but I was SHOCKED)😂

Oh can I join please? My kit is in the fridge ready- but I can’t start until Thursday next week, as I’ve got some blood tests then- and the GP said to wait. I’m excited and scared, but it’s lovely seeing lots of other people starting at the same time. I have a huge amount of weight to loose, so I’ll be in this fit the long game. But I’m determined. I signed up with Juniper, but have found a local chemist who are selling it for much less, and will check you over monthly and do your BP so planning to switch

SusanSHelit · 30/05/2025 22:25

First dose done! No going back now.

For those who haven't started yet, the needle is so tiny and fine I didn't feel it at all. With the pen that I have you have to turn the clicky knob thing at the end quite an alarming amount, and the pen extends quite an alarming amount but it's absolutely fine. It did take me a couple of presses to get it all the way down but it didn't hurt at all

MountainsAndSheep · 31/05/2025 06:40

Injected on Thursday morning. I also woke up drenched in sweat last night. I don’t know if it’s the MJ though. Aside from that, no symptoms so far 🤞

Suppression was almost immediate, but it might have been psychological.

I’m thinking of getting some protein powder. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

BoredReceptionist · 31/05/2025 07:07

I’m about to take my first injection and I am quite nervous as it seems so complicated!! I’m 54, 5’7” and 15 stone 1 so I have about 3.5 stone to lose.

Mounraine · 31/05/2025 07:18

@BoredReceptionist are you following a video? I found YouTube much easier to follow than the written instructions.

Ah good idea, I’ve read the leaflet so many times now!

FatJab · 31/05/2025 07:38

Morning - I took my first dose last night and the appetite suppression definitely kicked in quickly as I wasn’t tempted to eat any late night snacks (which is usually when my lack of self discipline with crisps/chocolate becomes extremely apparent!) I have ensured to drink a lot of water, I’ve woke up feeling slightly nauseous and with a ‘full’ feeling so absolutely no desire to eat, in fact the thought of eating is making me feel quite sick!

I am 37, 5ft 6, 16st 9lbs, size 16-18.

I would love to lose 5 stone but that seems like a pretty unrealistic amount so I am looking at it in stages, I was a very comfortable size 14 when I used to be 14 stone and would be happy to get to that again.

Dogzndiamonds · 31/05/2025 08:05

Hi all, I took my first jab on Thursday evening. I was so scared about side effects that I decided to do a half dose for the first couple of weeks. I regularly suffer from digestive issues so the thought of more was stressing me out! So far, I’ve had a bit of nausea, I’ve felt cold & very thirsty but no food suppression, although I’m trying to be careful with what I am eating, it didn’t stop me tucking into a cheesecake at 9pm last night!! Guess it’s to be expected on half a dose!

BoredReceptionist · 31/05/2025 08:44

I steeled myself and just did my first injection, it was fine although the amount you have to turn the dial threw me slightly!! I got back from holiday last Friday and had decided before I went that I’d order my first pen when I got home, in the end I ordered two because MedExpress took my money and then said they were short of stock which had me running to IQDoctor to order another, so I now have two 2.5mg pens and two sharps tubs!

healthjourney · 31/05/2025 09:20

Hi everyone, my first pen is in the fridge ready but I've decided to start next Saturday as I am away for work this week and don't want to be struggling with new side effects while travelling. So this weekend is preparation time, I need to buy a sharps bin as my provider didn't send one but does anyone have any other recommendations of foods/medicines/products to buy in preparation? Thanks in advance

Thornrose · 31/05/2025 09:23

Well I just got an email and I can collect mine on Monday 😬 I am so nervous. I think I'll wait until Friday to start.

I think I'm irrationally fearful of side effects. But telling myself that being this overweight is also incredibly risky!

I'm in a new job and worried about being unwell or running to the loo etc.

OhMyEarsAndWhiskers · 31/05/2025 09:51

Joining in here, I did my first jab this morning (oz time). I was slightly worried by the huge number of clicks I had to do to make it to the "1" but once I was there, it all made sense and I barely felt the injection.

I wasn't expecting to feel anything so early but a few hours in I had no interest in snacking at all. Very, very unusual for me. No side effects so far. I have 25kg to lose (just under 4 stone).

The only people who know I'm using the injections are my doctor and pharmacist. I haven't told my DH and the pen is hidden away in the fridge behind the butter! Not sure why I feel so awkward about it, possibly worried about judgement from others although I think my DH would fine with it.

When I was working out a lot (weight training daily) but also trying to lose weight and not bulk, I used MyProtein diet whey - it’s a bit like a milkshake but made with water. They also do a clear one now which is more like squash? I think Aldi etc also do their own version.

I’ve got over 5st to lose (lost 7 stone over the last 2 years and have put 5 back on after an accident) and have found my protein at the back of the cupboard and it’s still fresh! :)

Mich57 · 31/05/2025 10:00

I'm on W1D6, was contemplating bringing it forward to this morning but tbh suppression has been great.... Slight increase in food noise yesterday but nothing I can't handle.
Minimal side affects, had a headache on D4 but nothing else.

Have been stalking all the posts on MN and Reddit and have tried to up my protein to 100g - harder than it sounds and I'm going to get some protein powder! 2-3 litres of water. I think the biggest realisation for me is that this is not a magic jab that will melt my fat regardless... I need to eat sensibly!! I currently follow SW and eat a lot of speed foods. Had my usual weigh in on Thursday and I was 3lbs down (5 days in).
I'm 58
5ft 5
SW 13 4lb
GW 11stone (initially....although don't want to get all wrinkly 🫣😂)
