Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

<waves>
Can I join you please?
I've just done my first jab (having had the pens for a month before I plucked up the courage to jump in this morning)
I'm 52 and 8 years post menopausal - those 8 years have not been kind and I'm currently at 101kg, down from my highest of 106kg, but 26kg from where I want to be to be in a healthy BMI.

I've struggled with my weight all of my life and I'm just so tired of being tired, so here's hoping I can stick with it and feel better inside and out.

Hi @PuppyHerder

I am the same age as you. Have gradually been piling on weight since having my youngest (now 17) and have found it impossible to shift the weight.

I’ve done my second jab this morning. Lost 4lbs last week. This feels like a miracle drug!

Welcome to the group 😊

SirHectorDoolittle · 09/06/2025 10:49

Hoping I’m not too late to join? I’ve just had my prescription approved by Medexpress (after a few emails to chase them up) so I’m optimistic I’ll be starting very soon.

Just can’t shift my peri-menopausal weight gain, even with regular exercise (running, yoga, dog walking). I am compelled to eat unhealthy amounts of cake now that I simply didn’t bother about before. I’m hoping to drop 9kg to get back to a healthy weight for my height. I have a wardrobe full of lovely clothes that don’t fit and I want them back, in addition to better blood pressure!

Your posts have really helped motivate me - really looking forward to joining in

Right, had my weekend away and starting today! Will jab this evening!

What can I do today to make the best choices and hopefully alleviate any side effects?

Any tips please?

Hey, drink lots of water today and don't eat a heavy evening meal. Leave around 1.5-2hrs between dinner and your first injection. I did mine right before bed and slept through any immediate side effects, and by the morning suppression had kicked in. Hope that helps. Good luck x

Thanks for the tips!

Drinking lots today... I'm about a 1/4 down of a 2L bottle at the moment so will keep going!

I was a bit scared to jab before bed ( what if I die in my sleep - I mean come on Health anxiety at its finest there!! ) So will have an early dinner, wait and then if I could jab about 8pm, I don't go to sleep until 11ish so hopefully will be feeling fine!

Fatrosrhun · 09/06/2025 11:44

My supplier says to eat before or after the jab. I’ve never had any side effects at all over the last three weeks. But we’re all different. No two people seem to react the same way.

theaveragewife · 09/06/2025 11:47

Ahhh @riverislanjeans you sound just like me before I started. I did my first jab in a morning when I had nothing else in order to closely monitor any issues!! Do it at night now no probs, although currently only lying down and dh has to take the needle and pen back downstairs to the bin because I’m rubbish with all needles!

I would suggest electrolytes, multivitamin & collagen too. The electrolytes and multivitamin for side effects and collagen because your face might lose weight quick. That could be nonsense and people always talk about collagen not staying in the body but my skin is much better with it!

BadgerFace · 09/06/2025 11:59

I came on this morning to see if anyone was thinking of staying in 2.5ml for the second month and see that @moremoremores has beaten me to it!

I am very tempted to stay on 2.5ml for my second month as the first two weeks are going well with not snacking and making healthy choices. I am 8 pounds down as of this morning (celebrating my first half stone!!) so wonder if I should stick with 2.5ml. I guess things may change for the second two weeks on suppression but doubling the dose also feels massive.

How best to decide?!

KillerMounjaro · 09/06/2025 12:04

Injected last night so effectively W2D1 for me today. I’m doing my measurements on Mondays, but I have been weighing myself most days.
Lost 9lb in week 1, even though didn’t lose any the last 3 days!
Thought doing the body measurements would be pointless after just 1 week but did them anyway, and I’m glad I did!
Lost 1 inch from my waist and from each thigh, 1.5 from hips and 2 inches from chest!

Shwingbada · 09/06/2025 12:15

Congratulations to all on the progress so far!

I am finding the hunger/food noise has returned a bit but I'm not due to have my next dose till Wednesday. Have been doing lots of 'research' (if watching youtube videos can be called that!) and this guy seems to have some interesting suggestions for smoothing the dosage - I'm posting it here in case it's useful for anyone. He shows how to plot a graph of the peaks and troughs as well as discussing how to maximise the benefits. I am considering halving the dose to 1.25 but taking it every 5 days.

If tinkering like this isn't your thing then please ignore. He's a little slow going but very clear.

5lbs down and w3d1... Currently suffering with a dodgy stomach after eating some roast pork crackling yesterday 💩🤢 LESSON LEARNED!!!
Luckily no other SA but I won't be doing that again 😂

FurryAnimal · 09/06/2025 12:40

Just ordered my 2nd pen and ordered the 5ml one, I'm on w3d2. Has anyone else gone straight to the 5ml dose after their 1st month and how did you get on with the increase? 😊

Hazey19 · 09/06/2025 12:51

Glad I found a thread. Hope it’s ok to jump on. I’ve finally succumbed and it was delivered today. I’m currently debating whether to do my first injection now to monitor any side effects or do tonight as some PP have suggested to minimise any side effects. I’m really nervous but reading the experiences on this thread has made me feel a little better. I have read the information provided over and over but I know I’ll still have questions!

SomethingAboutYou · 09/06/2025 13:38

I've taken mine about half an hour after my evening meal and haven't really had any side effects. I think it's very much down to each individual body and how you respond. I had a chinese on Saturday and was worried the greasy food would affect me but nothing major, only mild constipation and that's mostly as I didn't drink enough water the last 2 days. That's the only thing I've noticed as a SE so far (w2 d3). My weight did stay the same over the weekend so will be interesting to see if I manage to lose anything by Friday or if the extra calories (was difficult to calculate accurately) will affect things.

I want to stay on the 2.5mg for another month if it's working so will wait until I've weighed Friday before ordering. I felt a bit more snacky on the weekend, which I didn't have the first week so perhaps I need to move up to 5mg but we'll see!

Afternoon Everyone! W1D2 for me and still no appetite. Yesterday, I ate some yogurt and granola and then a tuna and feta salad for tea. Couldn’t finish either. Very odd.
I don’t think I drank enough water as I didn’t really need to wee this morning which was worrying so I’m trying to up that today. I woke up with a stinking headache this morning and I can’t seem to shake it. Could be a SE or could be dehydration.

@theaveragewife can I ask which collagen brand you’d recommend?

Welcome to those starting today!

UglyBastardFace · 09/06/2025 14:10

W1D2 and effects are a bit less. Still a bit headachey and not feeling the huge appetite suppression of yesterday but still only managing small meals.

Just want to drink fluid endlessly though.

Dellabella83 · 09/06/2025 14:19

W1D2. Yesterday the appetite suppression was unbelievable, like a switch went off overnight in my brain. I’ve never felt like that before and it was amazing not to have food noise. I managed high protein lunch dinner and water intake. Main side effects was burps (luckily not the horrible sulphur ones I’ve heard about!) today no more side effects tho appetite not as suppressed as yesterday I’m still sticking to small meals and no need for snacks. I’m intermittent fasting 16:8 which is working well so far.

UglyBastardFace · 09/06/2025 14:29

Sarebear1984 · 09/06/2025 11:17

do you have to prime the needle every week?

There was some debate over this. I will be priming every week, as in just following the instructions for when a new needle is attached. Whether it is absolutely necessary I am not sure, so will err on the side of caution.

notagainyoufool · 09/06/2025 15:30

I primed the needle again when I took my second dose. I’m due my 3rd 2.5mg dose tomorrow.
I’ve order 5mg for next month.
I haven’t really had many side effects, thankfully. I did find a couple of days this week the food noise came back a bit, however I’m 6lbs down so far for this week.

TheatreTraveller · 09/06/2025 16:08

4pm and just managed a Malted Milk biscuit which is my first food of the day.
Never felt this ill before.

Fatrosrhun · 09/06/2025 16:08

I ordered 5mg for my next pen too. I’ve one more 2.5 jab left for tomorrow. I’m hoping to get the golden dose inbetween, and will possibly do 3.75 for my first new pen dose. I’ve not had that much suppression and still have some food noise on 2.5, but equally no side effects and I quite like that I’m having to use a bit of willpower as well, I hope it helps at the other end of this journey. I really want to build healthy habits/lifestyle too.

Oh gosh that's terrible. Hope you start to feel better soon x

Hazey19 · 09/06/2025 17:11

Ok so I have some questions already. I took my first injection this afternoon, is this W1D1 or will that be tomorrow? And should I feel anything by now or more likely tomorrow? I’m really thirsty but don’t know if it’s because I just am or because I’ve read this chat? 😂 can it work so soon? TIA
