Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

Starting later this morning - awake in the night and reading all your posts. Have yo-yo dieted for the past 12 years mainly SW but also Noom and simple calorie counting. I’m post hysterectomy in 2017 it’s got harder and I’m just so fed up of the food obsession that goes with counting syns, tracking food in apps etc. I know what I should eat but I definitely sabotage all my good intentions through snacking.
5ft 4 and 13:4 - hoping to lose at least 2 stone. I’m 61

MontysMum909 · 09/06/2025 06:36

Morning June Jabbers.
I’m week 1 day 6 but I’ve decided to do my next injection, largely because I had no suppression and few side effects. I’ve gone with thigh this time - I noticed that priming made the pen leak more which a few people have mentioned.
I have lost weight in week one but I honestly think that was my motivation to make sensible choices rather than appetite suppression but
I’m really hoping the second jab gives me more hunger control and reduced food noise.
Wishing you all a good weight loss week!

LongGinShortTonic · 09/06/2025 07:28

4.9lbs off - really pleased, especially as last night the suppression definitely wore off!

Jabbing after my spin class, need peace and quiet and no one else in the house. Still haven’t told anyone in the real world I’m doing this.

I did have my first weight loss therapy session last week which was interesting. Another 5 sessions to go, hopefully the two paired together will work.

Is anyone thinking of staying on their current dose for the next month?

Is anyone thinking of staying on their current dose for the next month?

Was going to see how this month played out, if it continues like it is then I’d consider it

I'm kind of thinking this is enough of an effect for me. I'm eating 1200 cals and not really wanting more, I'm not really getting side effects etc. Im wondering how soon after ordering pen 2 it would arrive - can I decide at the last minute after jab 3/weigh in 2?

BrilliantineStickInsect · 09/06/2025 08:16

Morning all! Took mine yesterday at 12pm and felt freezing cold all night, plus had bad indigestion in the night as I think I ate too much pasta for dinner (old habits and all that). I always wake up absolutely ravenous and feeling sick with hunger but this morning…nothing!! I’ll still try and eat something though to counteract any side effects.

If things continue in this way i will stay on 2.5mg for another month. I dont want to rush through the doses and then have nowhere to go - plus the cost increases 😂🙈

TheatreTraveller · 09/06/2025 08:26

I took my first jab on Saturday morning and OMG I was so ill last night. I've seen every single hour, sweating, pain in my stomach, full of gass, diarrhoea, vomiting. Has anyone had side effects this bad and ended up OK?

theaveragewife · 09/06/2025 08:35

Side effects for me are waking ridiculously early - 5.30am ish and not being able to get back to sleep. I love my sleep too so don’t really know what to do with myself! I do find I have so much more energy too - I may be pissing my DH off with insistence on having a full weekend of cleaning and tidying.

I’m W3 D1 and have lost 9lbs over the last 2 weeks, which I’m thrilled with. I do have to admit I’m not taking the full dose, I’m going for 30 clicks rather than 60 because of my fear of side effects and I know my body reacts very quickly to most medicine. I am happy here and will continue whilst losing but if the noise comes back or I plateau for too long I will go up in dose. Interestingly in week 1 by day 7 I was ravenous but yesterday I had to remind myself to eat.

On my previously problematic alcohol intake - I had one big glass of red wine on Saturday night but apart from that nothing. I don’t think about it in the day, I don’t have any guilt and I feel free for the first time in my adult life. I genuinely hope they look at this drug for alcoholics.

Sam187 · 09/06/2025 08:39

Morning all. W1D7 - weighing this morning before my next jab this evening.

SW Solo: 119.9kg (18st 12lbs)
SW MJ: 117.6kg (18st 7lbs)
CW: 114.9kg (18st 1lbs)
Lost so far: 6lbs (MJ) 11lbs (overall) - 5kg off.

Very pleased. Took me 4wks to lose 5lbs on my own (which is why I included it above) and I've lost 6lbs in my first week on MJ. Have felt good all week, other than being really bloody cold 😂.

Here's to week 2! 🎉

moremoremores · 09/06/2025 08:45

I'm going into week 3 & haven't managed to eat more than 1400kcals so staying on what I'm on makes sense. I'm with juniper, presumably I just tell them what dose I want?

PloopDeck · 09/06/2025 08:48

Morning everyone!
W1D4 for me, and I weighed this morning 5lbs lighter, which is really encouraging Smile no side effects for me still, which I’m very grateful for. Although, a few people are saying they feel cold a lot, I am having that at night, and I’m usually really warm. Lots of luck to everyone for the new week!

Shwingbada · 09/06/2025 09:02

W1D5 here and the mild headaches are completely gone. I do get hungry but within moments of eating it subsides, so I'm not tempted to overeat. Need to be more organised about meal planning (and then stick to what I've planned!). Have started logging everything on MFP which is quite satisfying, although the calorie amounts are often a guesstimate.

I'm also sleeping badly and waking up very early (4am...😟). Partly it's excitement at the new regime so I'm hoping it'll settle down once this way of living has become a habit.

@theaveragewife I'm interested to hear you have halved the dose. I've been wondering about doing that, or possibly stretching out the time between jabs. Partly due to the cost but also because I don't want my weight loss to be too dependent on the mounjaro - I'm a bit worried I'll lapse back into my old habits when I stop - so doing it slowly over a longer time might help. Do you find it easy to count the clicks? And may I ask how much you're hoping to lose? I am aiming for 10kg, BMI currently 28 but I have high blood pressure and carry all my weight around my middle. Aside from weight loss it's amazing to be free of the endless grazing and constant feeling of hunger which was genuinely affecting my ability to get anything done (I'd start something and immediately feel ravenous, probably dopamine seeking as I have ADHD).

ToddlerMumma · 09/06/2025 09:12

W1D6 and had a sneaky weigh today before my 2nd jab tomoz. I’m down 6lbs and in the 12s!!! I haven’t been 12st something since 2021! 😆

SW - 13st 4lb - 186lbs - 84kg
CW - 12st 12lb - 180lbs - 81.6kg
GW - 9st 7lb - 133lbs - 60kg

appetite suppression is defo waning so I might change by jab day to weds/thurs so I have more suppression at the weekends. Feeling good with no SE apart from mild headache most days. Looking forward to my next jab! (Can’t believe I was so nervous about it last week!)

PleaseAndThankYou12 · 09/06/2025 09:25

Morning! 😊 my gosh - I’ve woken with a horrible headache this morning. I jabbed on Friday evening - so is that D3 or D4? Do we count the day we jab? 🤔 I’ve been constantly craving lots of water, which definitely isn’t a bad thing! Been absolutely freezing which isn’t me, I’m always really hot. I find myself thinking about food, but when I go to the kitchen I’ve no real interest and just want some grapes 😂 guess I’m not off to a bad start. Hope everyone is doing ok!

I will do if it stays like this. If not, I'll go up to 3.5, 2 people I know we're really ill when they upped to 5 and the advice is to only up it if you feel it isn't working x

@Shwingbada funny, we watched Ferris Bueller with dc at the weekend 😀

Yes, I think I may have dopamine issues too! I knew when I was prescribed I would start with 1/2 dose, had researched and found the click counter charts online. It is really easy to just count up 30 clicks. I am aware the pen only lasts for 30 days so know I’ll be wasting some of the meds but could fit in 5 doses. For some reason my pen came with 7 needles. I needed to lose 2 stone but I would like to lose 2 1/2 stone - starting weight was 12st 8lbs, current weight 11 st 13lbs. I’m not sure about stretching time between jabs, there may be some sort of timeframe you need to leave if going over 7 days but not 100% on that.

W1D4 (jabbed Thursday eve)
sneaky weight in. Down 2lbs. Eating well. Making sure I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner so I don’t lose muscle or bone! Only fat. All healthy choices with no desire for anything unhealthy at all

The only thing to be wary about with half doses is that the pen only has a shelf life of four weeks from first use so if you did it, dont be tempted to stretch it out longer than the month

theaveragewife · 09/06/2025 10:04

@Rockfordpeach no, I definitely won’t do that - 30 days is the shelf life! And good point, my terrible maths means it is 4 weeks worth of jabs not 5!

Rockfordpeach · 09/06/2025 10:07

@theaveragewife Im not an expert but I think can do 5 doses. Lots of people do the 5th 'golden dose' and count it as the last day of the pen's shelf life

Shwingbada · 09/06/2025 10:22

Thanks @theaveragewife and @Rockfordpeach. I received some extra needles with mine too (from Asda). I think you could definitely get 5 doses out of the permitted 30 days but I've also read of people keeping it in the fridge and using the pen for longer, being scrupulous about hygiene of course. I need to read more about it. I appreciate that this approach may not be for everyone.

How did Ferris Bueller go down with your kids? Might try it on mine but wondered if it might be very dated!

Same here - jabbed Saturday evening.
Haven't felt much suppression and still eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. No snacking. Have lost 2 lbs but might have lost that anyway with a couple of walks for exercise, and healthier food choices, so we'll see. The only side effects so far are that my tummy was gurgling after eating last night but has settled down overnight.

PuppyHerder · 09/06/2025 10:29

<waves>
Can I join you please?
I've just done my first jab (having had the pens for a month before I plucked up the courage to jump in this morning)
I'm 52 and 8 years post menopausal - those 8 years have not been kind and I'm currently at 101kg, down from my highest of 106kg, but 26kg from where I want to be to be in a healthy BMI.

I've struggled with my weight all of my life and I'm just so tired of being tired, so here's hoping I can stick with it and feel better inside and out.
