Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

Are you sqeezing any skin as you inject ?

I was sat down so tummy was quiet right but I did the same last week.

UglyBastardFace · 08/06/2025 16:38

W1 D1 (after injecting last evening). Overnight, the injection has taken effect.

I woke up with dry mouth and have been sipping water all day. I went out for lunch and could not finish my meal. I can only manage small bites of food and sips of drinks. It is staggering that it has had an effect so quickly. I usually am as cynical as they come but this is definitely not a placebo effect as the change has been so stark.

One side effect has been a light headache but been trying to drink all day (way below the 2 litre recommendation though!)

katand2kits · 08/06/2025 16:43

Finally Asda have approved my order. Apparently I can collect tomorrow, excited to finally get started but quite anxious too about what to eat and side effects.

nailslikeknives · 08/06/2025 16:44

Took my first jab on Friday night, I’ve got a lot to lose, 6 1/2 stone would be good.
No side effects yet thank goodness.
My appetite has gone completely but I’m still thinking about food a lot. I hope that dies down. I don’t want to eat but I’m still thinking about food because I’m worried about side effects. I’ve read cheese and alcohol particularly cause cramping or diarrhoea.
Does anyone have a list of foods that are less likely to cause side effects?

Try lying back so no tension.

I still eat low fat cheese as everything I have read it's mainly fatty foods that can cause the SE, and I've not had any yet so it seems to be working 🤞

I’m W1D5 and am in complete awe of this medication. Had a small bowl of porridge then went swimming for 1hr, then ate a satsuma and waited 3 hours before having a small roast dinner. Have felt zero hunger all day. Normally after swimming I feel absolutely ravenous, proper weak-low-blood-sugar-rumbling-tummy-I’m-gonna-faint hunger. Today… zero!!!! I even took the dog for a walk before my roast.

what is happening to me!???

My suppression was pretty rapid too. I feel certain that I could not placebo away the sensation of hunger. Hunger has dominated my life since my teens!

Rockfordpeach · 08/06/2025 17:23

Ive been feeling pretty rough today. Im absolutely freezing and been wrapped in a blanket all day. Suppression is really strong which is strange because when i did it back in October i didnt get anywhere near this kind of reaction/suppression.
My DP is supportive of me doing it on the priviso i do strength training because hes read about how mounjaro can affect muscle strength so he and i did some today and i thought i was going to pass out 😂😂 i am SO unfit

I read that 2.5mg was a starter dose not really something that would have a therapeutic effect but darn it, I had one coffee and breakfast bar all morning and nothing else until 1pm. I would have chewed my own foot off in desperation for more food on any other day.

Tinybirdie · 08/06/2025 18:55

I refused an Indian takeaway last night. Who even am I?

Did you lose anything when you did this in October?

I've worn my Oodie to keep me warm and am wearing thick leggings, definitely feeling the cold more.

RattyNeighbours · 08/06/2025 19:00

I took my first 2.5mg dose last weekend and felt terrible all week. I had a headache that paracetamol and ibuprofen could only take a slight edge off and felt jittery like I’d had mountains of coffee.it was almost like the feeling of having flu but minus the cold symptoms.

im not sure if it was the jab or a virus as my DH and kids had colds the week prior. It’s scared me though so I’ve missed this weekends jab. Has anybody else had similar effects?

Omg same! I’ve not done it before, but last week was barely suppressed but was definitely less hungry- today I’ve managed an iced coffee and some chicken and I just don’t want anything else!

I’m W2D3 and I’ve never not been bothered about food, it’s such a strange feeling. Is this what no food noise feels like?

Plus today I’m even actively feeling like I just DO NOT WANT food. I even refused a single cherry tomato popped in my mouth by my little one…

Plus very bloated/nauseous after eating even a small amount.

Hi all - please can I join you all?

started on Tuesday evening. Being feeling dreadful since - no vomiting but awful nausea, like morning sickness.

also emotionally flat.

absolutely zero appetite. None. Having to force myself to eat (though I am eating lots of protein and 1800 calories… though very very difficult when zero hunger).

also super tired.

have lost 6lb since Tuesday but I’m not sure I can do another week of this../

ThisNeedsToWork · 08/06/2025 19:35

This is only my first day so I cannot wrap my head around the possibility that this will continue but I had to force myself to finish a yoghurt with granola earlier. I’ve eaten nothing else ALL DAY!!!!! I’m 54 and have never felt so calm and uninterested in food as I do today. I feel like I may jinx it by writing this but oh gosh, this is blowing my mind!

lw88x · 08/06/2025 19:36

Good evening MN

Let's talk side effects!

I took my first dose Friday evening.
Today I have diarrhoea, nausea and fizzy egg burps!!

How long has everyone's side effects lasted from first dose??

Xx

Sam187 · 08/06/2025 19:38

@UglyBastardFace I've been freezing all week, that's been my biggest SE! I mean I do live in Scotland, and the weather has been crap. But it's June. I shouldn't be this cold. Couldn't sleep for 2hrs last night cause I couldn't heat up!

Fatrosrhun · 08/06/2025 19:44

Xmasfairy86 · 08/06/2025 15:56

Definitely eat something. Need to see food as fuel, your body still needs food to survive, even without the hunger cues.

I agree.
And I’ve read that side effects can be worse if you’re letting your stomach get too empty.

moremoremores · 08/06/2025 20:07

My first week (when I had two much sugar) I had the eggy burps.
Noticed headaches and knee aches last week.
One episode of loose bowls when I ate quite a fatty meal.

UglyBastardFace · 08/06/2025 20:14

@RattyNeighbours This morning, I noticed I had the slight shakes and a headache. Luckily by drinking water little and often both symptoms seemed to have subsided. Hoping the side effects become less noticeable with time.

Another first time jabber joining to say I also feel completely normal (so far) after jabbing last night. Reassuring to see others say this too. I think I’d anticipated the worst that it feels strange to not feel anything!

I think another poster mentioned they’d just stopped breastfeeding and I’m the same having just stopped feeding my 2.5yo last weekend too. I thought I’d be around 14.7 so seeing 15.2 on the scale for first weigh in was a shock. Even more motivated now to make my self accountable and manage my weight better. Not just hide from the scale.

Congrats to those further along and already seeing losses. Glad to have a place to share as only telling my husband IRL.

That was me who's also just stopped breastfeeding! Hope this is the magic ingredient I need to get me back on the road to being myself. I'm still waiting for my pen being delivered, but will post my progress here and look out for your updates too. Huge good luck!!

This is where I’m finding my food diary logs with MFP super useful - just to make sure I am getting enough kcals/fibre/nutrients.

Just also discovered Aldi’s protein iced coffee (99p!) which is amazing, and MyProtein multi-vit JELLYBEANS! Made my day that one 😂

healthjourney · 08/06/2025 22:17

That's W1D1 done and I think it went pretty well. I slept really badly after the jab last night which is unlike me so probably a side effect but I'm hoping not one that will continue. Definitely noticed significant increase to satiety today, I ate 3 meals but literally half the portion size I normally would. No other side effects, I'm cautiously optimistic so far but looking forward to seeing how the rest of the week goes. I hope everyone has had a good weekend 😊

Mamafromthebeach · 08/06/2025 22:25

Hi all - just completed week 1 and down 3 lb which I am very happy with. I am on Wegovy and have a long way to go (5 stone or so 😳).

No real side effects - just reduced desire to snack and drink alcohol! Will see what week 2 brings.

Good luck to all
