Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

just taken my first dose and totally stressing myself out I’m going to have some terribel allergic reaction - I know this is irrational! Can’t help it! Anyone else do the same to themselves?

This was me! I did it while I was by myself, so I could concentrate and while I was cleaning up it dawned on me if I have a massive allergic reaction nobody will be home to help for hours! Got myself in a right panic!

The key is plan ahead. It sort of removes the ‘I need to think about food’ aspect. I’ve been making a salad before work (I WFH)with protein, so there is currently a small bowl in my fridge with rocket, sliced cucumber, spinach, a slice of chopped up ham and a sliced boiled egg.

I’ve also been having the ‘flavoured’ Ryvita crackers with soft cheese and sliced cucumber and Turkey slices.

I had this as lunch today but had 2 eggs to up my protein , great idea for lunch tmw. I haven't planned and scratching my head for dinner tonight now 🤦‍♀️. It's my first week so will aim to do better!

Good to know I’m not the only one! Yes no one is in the house and now I’m thinking - oh my throat feels a bit tight, oh I’ve got tingly lips … 🙄 I’m driving my self mad! Going to go and cook the children their dinner to take my mind off my impending doom 😂

RomanFruit · 03/06/2025 18:02

@Rockfordpeach - I hadn't thought of peppermint oil capsules, but that's a great suggestion, as I've only had mild side effects so far. Thanks!

Sam187 · 03/06/2025 18:13

I've been feeling fine all day. Had coffee and lots of water. Had to force myself to have lunch at 1.30pm. Strange sensation to not be fussed either way and to finish a small plate without wanting more.

As the day has gone on, I am absolutely freezing and starting to feel pretty tired. Not sure if this is some SEs or just my body's natural reaction to less food - coupled with miserable weather.

Anyone had similar? X

RomanFruit · 03/06/2025 18:18

@Sam187 I've been feeling the cold a bit today, too! I'm wondering if it might be because of being in a calorie deficit? I remember feeling the same when I did the Fast 800 a few years back...

HerFifthDecade · 03/06/2025 18:25

Week3, day 3 and down by 9.5lb so really pleased with that.

We’re a right paranoid breed aren’t we 😂😂

That's so good to hear @BadgerFace

I'm really hoping it will break my wine drinking habit🤞🏻 That's a major issue as then I eat crisps and crap the next day.

Without wine I'm a pretty healthy eater.

Me too thornrose!

Potterson13 · 03/06/2025 19:34

I’ve seen a lot of reports of people feeling really cold as a side effect so I don’t think it’s that uncommon. I do think a lot of the fatigue comes from calorie deficit though, as others have said, on previous diets I’ve always been wiped out!

I’ve struggled a bit today, not with side effects just feeling a bit down. I’m also realising I may have more of an issue with alcohol than I first thought. I think I was pinning my hopes on MJ making me not want alcohol but today I found myself saving calories so I could have a couple of drinks tonight. No occasion, just a random Tuesday night 🫤🥴 I never get drunk at home, but do usually have either a glass of wine or a couple of lagers most nights. It’s a bit of a shitty realisation to be honest. Sorry for the depressive rant, I shall try and be more positive!

Regarding eating enough protein, I've started a thread specifically asking for ideas/advice to reach the recommended intake.

Fatrosrhun · 03/06/2025 19:40

You’ll get through this @Potterson13 . I’d try to avoid alcohol completely if you can for a week or two, see how you feel then (after you’ve watched the lbs fall off too). I’m a chocoholic, that’s what I’m having to do. We don’t know how our bodies are going to settle down or how our tastes might change. Just try to plod along initially until you find your feet?

Thank you. I hope so. I think part of me has realised it’s not “normal” for quite some time but there’s always an excuse, it’s been a busy day, it’s been a stressful day, I’ve had a good day let’s celebrate! And it is admittedly becoming tiring. The calories in lager and wine are also eye watering.

i’ve joined a Facebook page tonight which seems supportive and has lots of like minded people. I’ve posted anonymously to start with and hope I can find some motivation in others successes.

@Potterson13i totally get where you’re coming from with the alcohol. I know I drink too much but there always seems to be a reason… hard day, on holiday, busy day, it’s a Tuesday!!! I’m hoping the noise will quiet down a bit to help me moderate. I’m with you x

Radiatorvalves · 03/06/2025 20:01

I love a glass of wine. We usually have a g &t and then share a bottle of wine at the weekends. Last weekend I had 2 glasses but really didn’t fancy it. The taste was fine but I didn’t want it. Most unlike me. I’m not known for saying no.. last time was about 18 years ago when I was pregnant! We are meeting friends in the pub on Thursday… will see what I feel like then.

Thornrose · 03/06/2025 20:04

@IndigoBabble it's so frustrating isn't it. Are you avoiding alcohol so far?

@Potterson13 same for me too. My drinking takes up so much headspace. "Should I, shouldn't I, why did I, I'll cut down tomorrow, might as well wait until Monday now." I really hope that's the equivalent of food noise and will calm down a bit.

I've convinced myself that the alcohol will increase side effects which is putting me off so far.

After a few weeks I can usually break the habit. Or atleast I have in the past until I lapse!

My 1st injection is going to be Friday. It's in my fridge ready 😬

Sorry you are here too, but it’s nice to know I’m not alone. Obviously my main reason for MJ is the weight loss I need but I think I got my hopes up with the alcohol suppression too after reading many many anecdotes and watching too many videos of people’s experiences. I think I was secretly hoping this would be magic wand for drinking. Saying that, I’m also well aware I’m not even 1 week in of the loading dose. Time will tell but I’m definitely putting more of an effort into not drinking moving forwards, if MJ does nothing to curb my cravings for alcohol, at least it’s helped me wake up to the facts I rely on it too much.

I only started Monday so whilst I have avoided alcohol so far it's hardly a great achievement 😂

Side effects worry me too, as I’ve read that the serious side effects which give MJ a bad name, like pancreatitis etc., can be down to not being sensible on it. While I am conscious of protein intake, not intentionally loosing too much too quickly and making sure I don’t starve myself by doing my best to eat my calories, the risk of alcohol hasn’t deterred me from drinking it so far. I suppose that solidifies the fact that I rely on it far too much.

Hi, I started 2 weeks ago so hopefully I can join in. Here’s my experience so far, injections are painless so better than I thought.

I haven’t felt sick at all apart from one day where I had to take a laxative which gave me stomach pain. I have been constipated even though I’m eating lots of fibre and drinking tons of water.

im tracking all my food on the Nutra Check app. I’m eating normal meals but smaller portions. After my main evening meal I feel very full (like I’ve eaten a large Christmas dinner).

I’m down 1.5kg so far (did my 1st jab on 23rd May) it mostly feels like willpower at the moment but food noise is maybe a bit quieter

edoc · 03/06/2025 20:26

so I lost 9lbs in my first week which is fantastic but I’m struggling to eat anything, I’m nowhere near reaching enough calories or protein. I’m hoping I’ll figure it out and these posts help, I figure I have so much to lose that these first couple of weeks won’t matter

User99999999 · 03/06/2025 20:32

i took my first injection 6 hours ago and getting heart burn, something I normally never get! Surely this is the MJ??

nexttonormal · 03/06/2025 20:33

I'm finding this whole experience quite interesting.
Today I have felt ready for my meals but not particularly interested in them - in needed to eat and I knew I was hungry/a little grumpy but no desire to over eat.
I'm managing 100g+ per day of protein and 3 -4l of water. I think the fybogel is helping - I have been bloated and have had stomach cramps like period pains today, but still regular bowel movements.

Otherwise no other side effects to note - apart from sleeping like the dead! It might be the antihistamines for the current high pollen count, but I'm dead to the world all night since injecting on Saturday afternoon.

I am interested to see how weigh in goes on Sunday - no pressure on myself as I'm still experiencing food noise but feel more in control of the urges. That might be because I'm stubborn and don't want to have wasted the cost of the jabs though!
