Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

@Potterson13 I’m with you on the alcohol. I was also hoping MJ would be a miracle block to wanting it. I went to a work event and had two glasses of rose although the calories on MFP reminded me on my way home reminded me it’s not a good idea! But I turned down several other top ups and I haven’t had any more after getting home. So I’ll take it as a win for today…

In other news I seem to be hungry today. Eek! I’m not due my second jab until Thursday so I hope tomorrow goes okay…!

i took my first injection 6 hours ago and getting heart burn, something I normally never get! Surely this is the MJ??

Yes, I had indigestion the first night too. Thankfully it's not persisted

HerFifthDecade · 03/06/2025 21:37

I didn’t get time to add to my earlier post.
i feel I’ve been lucky as apart from headaches and feeling cold in week 1, no side effects.
week 2 I felt far more hungry but realised I wasn’t even reaching my 1200 cals.
week 3 and the suppression is back ( felt wasn’t as strong week 2) so feeling well.
ive tended to eat the same meals .I normally have two coffees. Then my lunch which is crudités and fruit with some meat for protein. Then a calorie controlled micro meal.
I realised part of my issue was cooking big big meals.:-( this normally takes me to a 1000 calories. Then add in fitness classes each day leaves me 300- 400 calories.Ive avoided eating those 👍🏻

Booklover2021 · 03/06/2025 21:43

@Potterson13 I totally get you on this. I've been the same with alcohol, to the point that I was having at least a bottle of wine a night.
MJ hasn't put me off alcohol as such but because I'm conscious of my diet and effectively thinking "I've spent a lot on this jab I want it to work", I've switched up to a couple of gin and sodas of an evening instead. Already noticing that "wine belly" has gone and I feel better for it. I know long term though I need to just stop completely.

Xmasfairy86 · 03/06/2025 22:17

I’m not a drinker so can’t really comment but do alcohol free drinks have the same calorie content? Could you find substitutes?

Spinningplates22 · 03/06/2025 23:41

Same with the wine here. I was having far more than a glass a night and I was drinking it like it was a soft drink.
I haven’t had an alcoholic drink since I took my jab. I just haven’t felt like it but also I have been ill since last Friday with a cold/flu like bug which has knocked me for 6. Coming out the other side now and realised I haven’t had any alcohol for over a week. And I don’t actually fancy it. I have a wedding on the 14th so I am going to try to abstain until then.

the Diet Coke thing is the weirdest for me. Now this may be TMI 😂 but the last few days when the injection was wearing off I would grab a Diet Coke but couldn’t drink more that a qtr of it. But I did notice on these days the constipation would be ahem relieved 🤣🤣

BadgerFace · 04/06/2025 06:05

The DC chat is interesting. I drink a can or two a day after having kids (I don’t drink any other caffeine). I am still drinking a can a day but it’s probably habitual - I know I should try and wean myself off so it’s interesting to read lots of you have gone off it!

AlwaysApril · 04/06/2025 07:29

I would like to join in please, feel as though I need a bit of support with this as I don’t know anybody in my friendship circle who is trying mounjaro. Although some of my Mums friends in their 70’s are on it and loving it! I collect mine tomorrow from Asda after months of deliberation. Good luck everyone!

ToddlerMumma · 04/06/2025 08:02

Day 2 and I slept like the dead last night! I do have a slight headache but no other SE so far
usually, I’m thinking about breakfast by now but I’m not really that fussed today which is great

Thanks for your honesty Booklover2021 I was the same with wine and constant excuses and telling myself I would cut down next week. I only started Monday but didn’t feel the urge to drink anything that night or last night which is a good sign for me! Let’s hope those of us who are identifying alcohol as an issue can crack this at the same time as losing weight! I’ve not really had any side effects but have slept heavily which is not like me and have had a mild headache and been cold at times but that could coincidental? Hope you are all doing well I’m quite excited about this now after months of deliberating!

Best of luck @AlwaysApril - we're all here to help. I'm only W1D2 now, so similar start to yourself ☺️. We've got this!

I wish I was sleeping like the dead. I've always been a terrible sleeper, so still been up 2/3x a night. Brutal. I have the start of headache at the mo, but tanking water to keep it at bay. I'm day 2 too ☺️

Hi AlwaysApril. I started Monday so
am a newbie too. No real SE as yet. Couldn’t feel the injection (did it in my thigh). I haven’t told anyone on RL apart from my husband either so it’s lovely to be part of this group so we can share experiences and support each other xx

notagainyoufool · 04/06/2025 08:47

Hi everyone, I took my second jab yesterday. No real side effects. I think I’ve lost around 7lbs so far.
I’ve also gone off alcohol, although I didn’t get boozy on Saturday and I had a horrible headache the following day, which I wouldn’t usually get.

I’m wondering when to buy the next month’s supply. I’m a bit worried about stock issues. I’ll switch supplier with my new purchase to make the most of the new customer offers around.

Beeneatingsomemousse · 04/06/2025 08:50

I told a friend, who said that she had never heard of Weightloss jabs. I said they were for diabetics, really, and she said that she thought her elderly mother took them.

Anyway, over some time, it transpired that she thought I was taking Weightloss jam (rather than a jab).

I took that as a sign that it might be easier not to tell anyone.

We’re all here to support each other, I only started last Friday night. Have over 3 stone to lose.

ShakespearesSisters · 04/06/2025 09:05

Just taken my first injection
Current weight 101.8kg
Goal weight 60 kg
165cm

Fingers crossed for this. I've done so many different weight loss things in the past. I made it to 86kg in November 2020 with intermittent fasting.
Fell off the waggon and now it just doesn't have the same effect since I started menopause.

Pen now hidden in the fridge, I've not told the family, but have told a few friends just in case.

Spinningplates22 · 04/06/2025 09:25

Are people just weighing once a week or every day. I have been weighing every day but today (wk2 day3) I have gained 1lb. Now I know the body fluctuates and I will be due on next week but honestly it’s disheartened me so much that I’m considering just weighing once a week.

@Spinningplates22 I totally get the disheartening. I used to have a terrible relationship with the scales and still need to really work on it. I think it's whatever works for you tbh. My PT had me weigh everyday, so that I would recognise that weight does go up and down everyday, and repair the damage of the scales. I accept that now but sometimes you're just a bit meh. It's nice to see it hit the low over the week though. Also, you don't know what day that falls on with the weekly, you could be doing yourself an injustice if it's the jump day.

The most important thing is what works for you to keep you going ☺️ if seeing the big loss each week is the one, try that, but be kind to yourself. It didn't go on overnight n all that... ❤️

Spinningplates22 · 04/06/2025 09:46

@Sam187 you are right. I didn’t really have a dinner last night as I wasn’t hungry and had pasta for lunch so just had a protein shake. Plus I upped my water from 2 litres to 3 litres yesterday so it’s probably water weight. I’m just so close to getting into the next stone bracket 😭 I really want go see a number 11 on the scales soon. I’m being an impatient little madam

Tinybirdie · 04/06/2025 10:14

Welcome to all joining us!

I'm just weighing once a week.
I so wish Mt side effect was sleep. I have rubbish sleep due to menopause and that's worsened on MJ.
Also having issues with pooping. Don't want to give people TMI but my poo was far from normal....I think I definitely need to start a fibre supplement like psyllium husk.
I was awake through the night hungry and caved to a greek yoghurt and packet of quavers! Due to inject again Friday.
I've been reading a lot about micro dosing and think I may consider this when moving from 2.5mg

Booklover2021 · 04/06/2025 10:37

Day 5 today, first day I woke up hungry so had a protein bar! I'm on slimming world and weigh in is tonight, I'll let you know what I've lost after 5 days...and before anyone thinks it's cheating, I like the accountability of slimming world and the meal plans but I'll be staying quiet in group.

Woman I work with told me today she's on MJ and a colleague quite judgingly said "oh...well that's an interesting lifestyle choice". Rolled my eyes and took her aside and told her I've just started it too. Only her, my parents and 2 best friends know (my dad is on MJ too)

Shwingbada · 04/06/2025 10:41

Hi all, I will be joining you on MJ either today or tomorrow, depending on when I can collect the pen from Asda. It's really interesting to read about your experiences. My main worry is acid reflux as I suffer from this quite a bit already, and also IBS symptoms getting worse (although some people find this gets better 🤞). I have ADHD and struggle with compulsive eating/dopamine seeking through food. Really hoping it will free me to get on with other things and not be interrupting myself by constantly browsing the cupboards! Look forward to sharing the journey with everyone.

I have IBS and haven't had any bad reaction. The healthy eating has helped I think.

A huge good luck!

That's good to hear @Booklover2021, thank you! Hope your weigh-in goes well.
