Hi everyone!

I started MJ around this time last year, but due to costs and unforeseen family circumstances, I fell of the band wagon and took about 6 months off. I’m now a stone heavier than I was. I am back and ready to go again. First pen, back to 2.5mg, arriving tomorrow or Friday.

I found the last thread I was on very supportive so wondered if there’s a few people around who want to join me!

If anyone else (like me) struggles with exercise and finds ‘going for a long walk’ the last thing they want to do ☺️, there is a really good You Tube channel called Improved Health. She’s a lovely Canadian lady who does short indoor walking/gentle exercise videos, some only 10 minutes. I did one this morning for 15 mins and it’s upped my steps to nearly 4K by 10am. All set to music but not the fast and furious type workouts that tend to intimidate me (an obese nearly 61 year old).

SusanSHelit · 02/06/2025 10:54

@maddiemookins16mum she sounds fab, and much more my pace than a lot of other YouTube workout videos, will definitely be checking her out thank you!

SusanSHelit · 02/06/2025 10:58

@polkadotpixie im following the plantslant2431 on YouTube, he does mostly short videos reviewing other recipes but it's lots of plant based healthy stuff. He breaks the recipes down, gives alternative suggestions and rates whether they are actually worth trying or not. I find lots of inspiration for pretty quick and easy plant based high protein /high fibre meals on there.

He does lean heavily on beans, but I personally love beans almost as much as he does, though I can see how it might not be great for everyone

riverislanjeans · 02/06/2025 11:12

Could I join please?

My pen is due to be delivered today, only ordered from Voy on Saturday, approved yesterday and an email to say its being delivered today!

I'm 5ft nothing and currently just under 11stone! I also have chronic back pain which I think being overweight doesn't help!

I think I'm going to start next Monday as I'm away this weekend which involves a plane journey and worried about side effects.

I have an irrational fear of side effects, I can cope with sickness and diarrhoea ( Hopefully ) I'm just so worried about the 'rare' side effects, mainly that I could die. I know that's really really stupid! I have health anxiety anyway!

I've only told my husband. Do I need to store in the fridge all the time? Don't fancy the teen finding it! Very mindful of a teenage girl and weight loss in the house!

MsRinky · 02/06/2025 11:39

I weighed this morning just because I always weigh on a Monday and I am down 3.5kg from last Tuesday, which was, admittedly straight after a long debauched weekend at a festival. WTF? I did have a couple of getting back to normal diet days before my first jab on Thursday, I am down 1.7kg since then. This feels like a miracle.

I have a Planthood delivery coming today - four vegan meal kits which are high protein and high fibre. I am not vegan or even vegetarian, but I have been having these deliveries every other week or so for a couple of months now, as I sometimes feel a bit overwhelmed by meat/fish/dairy all the time to keep my protein up. There's always a 25% code off the first few deliveries kicking about. I've really enjoyed them - tonight will be hispi cabbage gratin with creamy cashews and tempeh. 580 calories, 42g protein and 18.7g of fibre - although it remains to be seen whether I'll be able to eat a full portion.

I use Nutracheck (paid version) and really rate it, but this week it's been used to make sure I'm eating enough rather than knowing when I've reached my limits. I have it set to 1500 but have only been managing just over 1200 since my jab.

Hi all,

I'm looking to start mounjaro this week and was wondering were do you all order yours from?

Any additional advice would be great.

I went with IQ doctor - simple process and cheaper than many

my heart, and clock 😂 are telling me it’s lunch time but I don’t want anything. Had full fat Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast- it sat for 2 hours before I could eat it 🤦🏽‍♀️ so I may delay eating until the end of the ‘lunch period’ with work. I WFH so it isn’t an issue. Will watch Hollyoaks 😂 then go for a walk, then eat something.

have a slight headache, I think, which I’m trying to discourage with fluid

Has anyone ordered of any of the sites listed on the link above? if so any additional promo codes would be great 😃

@MsRinkyi really like the look of those Planthood meals. Not vegan or vegetarian either!

Seriestwo · 02/06/2025 13:18

I signed up with Voy - they have an app and I’ve hustled had a 20 min chat with a “health an nutrition coach” who will speak to me in 2 weeks.

boy also doesn’t require you to tell your GP. I don’t mind her knowing but I would rather try and crack on with it first, the injection won’t interact with any of the blood pressure drugs I’m on and I am not interested in a disagreement about risks. I’ve been fat for 40 years, I’ve done everything to fix that - this seems worth a shot.

I really do need one place to log my meals and activity and have some accountability. I know Voy won’t be the cheapest but I have zero ability to stick to a plan so I’m hopeful these add ons will help.

my injection arrives in a couple of days.

Im 50, about 5 stones overweight and tired of my shitty eating and exercise behaviour.

SomethingAboutYou · 02/06/2025 14:06

Hi, I'm joining this thread 😊 Took my first 2.5 dose Friday evening so am a couple of days in. Tracking my food on MyFitnessPal in the hope of eating enough fibre and protein and looking to lose 6st 🤞

I'm 40, peri-menopausal, piled on the weight after baby no.1, lost the weight with slimming world, got pregnant with baby no.2 and now I can't shift it (my "baby" is in full time school so it's been a few years of failed attempts - basically yo-yo-ing).

We eat fairly healthy meals but I am terrible for snacking (sweet and savoury!) and I had surgery earlier this year so can't walk or excersise much at the moment.

Just taking MJ has got me eating less snacks (by choice less than surpression at this stage) so hoping it gives me the kickstart I need! 😬

Fatrosrhun · 02/06/2025 14:07

I’m with Voy too. I absolutely love it. I decided I wanted to be with a company that had massive amounts of back up if I struggled with anything at the start. They did a decent first week discount so it didn’t work out that much more expensive for the first month. Typically I’ve had no side effects at all for these first two weeks! I also had a phone conversation with a coach/nutritionist. I really like their food analysing- you photograph your plate and it rates how balanced it is (they say to avoid calorie counting and just eat a good, healthy diet, which is right up my street). They also log your protein daily, so you know if you’ve had enough. And I think their online AI coach is worth its weight in gold. I asked for suggestions for protein high vegetarian meals and it immediately gave me recipes for about ten lovely meals. It suggested spices to put in curries that react less with MJ. And I had a chat with it about whether my lack of suppression or side effects is normal. It’s a fabulous tool. But I won’t be able to afford it for long. Their prices get very high as the doses go up. “Luckily” I got a problem with my app in the first week and they have discounted the second month for me, but I’ll probably have to go elsewhere after that. I think Juniper offers à similarly supportive package (again not cheap). But I’ve watched a few people struggle with side effects and not know what to do over the last couple of weeks, so it’s nice to feel you can contact a coach or clinician for help. I’m intending to milk it as much as I can. I’m coming up to the end of my second week and it’s looking like I’ll have lost 9lbs - with very little submission but lots of Voy back up.

That sounds like amazing support. I went with Asda and although they send lots of supporting pdfs they're pretty generic (there's a 'swap this for that' section and just assumes you only eat crap if you're overweight, which might be true for some but not everyone!)

YourPerfectCousin · 02/06/2025 14:42

Drinking >2 litres of water a day is a drag isn't it? My bladder is weeping.

Absolutely, I feel like I've spent more time peeing in the last three days than I did in the last three weeks. Bit of an exaggeration admittedly, but only a bit...

NeedyTiger · 02/06/2025 15:08

Good afternoon ladies thanks for the recommendations for tracking calories I have gone with both my fitness pal and nutra check .
Wk 1 D 4
Age 45
BMI 28
CW 72kg
GW 60kg
I have a lot of health issues so I asked my GP for advice about WLI because I'm on 3 different types of diabetes medications 2 of which lower blood sugars as it is so didn't want to risk further hypos and I'm on blood thinners so was concerned about risks of further clotting , so she's prescribed it to me so she can keep me under her care as she knows my full history including my previous EDs she's taken me off one of my diabetic meds to reduce risk of hypos and to increase testing my blood sugars and she said I may get surface level tiny blood clots at the site of injections (rare) but nothing to worry about but she's going to monitor me closely and have me come in every 3 months for a weigh in and blood work she's also given me a scope of weight range and if I fall below this she will stop the injections but if I stay in range I can stay on maintenance dose long term under her care which I feel much better about it , regarding exercise I can't do much of I'm still in recovery from a bi lateral PE and dvt but I'm working on this at the moment housework is my exercise.
Had some bouts of nausea a few times but nothing too bad didn't realise I hadn't even thought about food on day 2 husband made me some toast but could only manage half a slice , I think I'm going to struggle because I'm not your typical 3 meals a day I'm a meal at teatime and lots of snacking kind but iv had no cravings to snack either so far but I have just done a shop and focused on lunch and dinner meals I prefer protein (meat) over carbs so fingers crossed Wishing us all a successful and supportive journey together 🙏

KillerMounjaro · 02/06/2025 16:46

I’m on day 1 - first jab last night. So far I’ve thought that I don’t feel any different. Not had any side effects so far and I still have felt hungry.
I haven’t eaten anything “bad” though, and I haven’t eaten much - a bit of Greek yogurt, a chicken leg and a few nuts.
One thing I “think” I am noticing is that although I don’t feel unwell at all, I literally can’t imagine eating some chocolate or a cake, and usually I spend the majority of my time thinking about that!!
I don’t know whether that’s a real effect or just me making it up though!

SusanSHelit · 02/06/2025 16:52

I'm going to wetherspoons for tea tonight with ds, it's far far too hot for cooking and doing dishes, will be scouring the menu for high protein low cal options. Cherry Pepsi max to drink or diet tonic

I missed lunch entirely, purely by accident, but I do frequently due to rampant adhd, so I don't mind eating a bit more tonight if I can stomach it

Samilaa99 · 02/06/2025 16:55

So I took jab for 1st time yesterday morning so class this as day 2, felt tired today but that could be broken sleep from all the water I made myself drink yesterday to avoid constipation. Today I have been so thirsty I think I've drunk 3-4litres already 🤔. I don't know if that's a SE or not, but I constant have a dry mouth, but am not weeing as much as I'd expect, so not sure what's going on. Anyone else read anything about it?

Sam187 · 02/06/2025 16:55

Hi everyone, my first pen arrived today 2.5mg. I've never done anything like this at all, and feel pretty nervous tbh. Hoping for minimal SE; have a lot to lose - starting goal of c4.5st.

Any tips, or anyone similar?

Going to start this evening.

Hey, don’t overthink it. I took my first ever jab on Friday. No issues thus far. Already not feeling as hungry and am focusing on eating better and moving more. Keep your fluids up.

Ah that's good. I definitely am overthinking it. I'm sure it'll be fine.

I spent the last 4wks ahead of making this decision, eating better, moving more, hitting my step count every day - and lost just under half a stone on my own. So hoping already having these habits in play will help too.

Glad you've not had any issues and are feeling some positive effects.

Loveacrumpet · 02/06/2025 17:12

took my 2nd jab Friday after sailing thru with no symptoms last week. Today they’ve hit me! I’m at work & been running to the loo every half hour, which is my worst nightmare. I’m hoping I can last the train journey home. The only thing I can think was last night I ate the skin off a roast chicken. I’m scared to eat anything now.

Tinybirdie · 02/06/2025 17:15

Welcome to everyone joining us!

W1 D3 and still not got a drive to eat although I can eat once it's in front of me. I've had 2 boiled eggs and a slice of wholemeal toast for lunch and a greek yoghurt with chia seeds which was less offensive than expected! Fish with a side salad for dinner later.

I ordered some biotin last night as I've read a few posts about hair loss.

I am definitely not hitting protein target of 100. Not even close. Might try the protein shake tomorrow.
Excited for weigh in day and determined not to sneak a peek.
Oh and the drinking is a complete and utter drag

Welcome @Sam187 I took my 1st yesterday morning, a tip I found from lots of reading is font jab after eating too much or anything fried or fatty, or after consuming alcohol. They seem to bring on more side effects it seems, but only a low % of people seem to get them, you sound like I was and worried I would get the worst SE ever, but seem to be ok atm 🤞. It did take me 2 days to pluck up the courage though 🤦‍♀️ good luck and sure you'll be great 👍
