W1D2. Well after being scared to start this journey then working myself into a panic attack Friday night approx 30 mins after doing my first jab worrying about side effects I’m now wondering if it’s worth it. I’m sure I will snap out of it but it’s taking over.

Seahorsesplendour · 25/05/2025 06:58

@Sashyb i hear you I think our brains are hard wired to give us messages of failure and judgment of our decisions. It’s like @DidILeaveTheGasOn says that multigenerational shame and self judgment .

i think it’s partly why I had my big wobble about my big loss rather than just being able to be proud of myself

Be kind to yourself you’ve decided to prioritise yourself and your health and well being. I have a friend who has been doing this for 6 months and every time I have a wobble she says just relax, stop overthinking and trust the process and the decisions you make.

we still have control so every good decision we make we should be proud of - Greek yoghurt & fruit included @DidILeaveTheGasOn the MJ is just helping us steer in the right direction . Providing the directions - we can still steer in the opposite direction and sometimes that will be easier than others depending on how much suppression/food noise we have, dose we’re on, personal response etc.

we’ve got this everyone let’s be kind to ourselves today!

Aw, poor you @Sashyb ! I started on Friday, too. I was nervous but reminded myself that the “side effects” of being very overweight at 56 are a million times worse than those of Mounjaro!

So I’m W1 D3 now. Despite reading that the 2.5 dose was just an acclimatising dose, (and also that I left a little puddle on my thigh) I swear it worked immediately!! I had eaten lunch not long before the jab and I carried on feeling full for hours. Had small dinner and same.
My appetite is a bit suppressed, but the strongest effect is after eating. I always feel like I’ve eaten something really rich and sickly, just a total bleurgh feeling that lasts and lasts and puts me off eating anything else!
Very pleased with this; long live “the bleurgh”!

Hope other new starters are doing well 🙂

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 25/05/2025 09:06

I’m due injection number 4 today. Am thinking of stretching it out until tomorrow or Tuesday though, because my next pen has not arrived yet. Has anyone done this? Also has anyone had anything from medexpress recently?! How long did it take?
SW - 12 stone 4
CW - 11 stone 6
GW - somewhere between 10st and 10st7…hopefully

Mounraine · 25/05/2025 09:12

@Sashyb that's so easily done. I got myself in to a bit of a state after complications in Week 1. Got in my head a bit.
I know this sounds a bit woo, but it's helped me to repeat positive affirmations to counteract the more negative stories I was telling myself subconsciously. Also, some calm breathing exercises. I hope this helpful, I just remember how rubbish and lonely I felt when it feels like everyone else is having an easy, fun time and I thought I was killing myself.

26dX · 25/05/2025 09:25

@AccidentalPrawnYouFool I’ve delayed by 1 day to change my jab day and was fine x

Thank you! It’s either that or try and get the golden dose. Which I’m a bit scared of. Can anyone link the needles I need 🤣

ElsieJay · 25/05/2025 09:57

Tried one of these for grab-and-go breakfast today.Would recommend,as not thick or gloopy, light and pleasant tasting.

Lidl Milbona High Protein mango & peach
shot, pk of 4, each one is 94ml.
Calories 54, Carbs 4.5, Protein 8g.

As ever, onwards and downwards this Bank Holiday weekend…. ☔️ ☀️.

FurryAnimal · 25/05/2025 10:34

Dutchhouse14 · 24/05/2025 22:33

I had exactly the same thought when I had did my first Jab on Tuesday.
The clear tube is filled with liquid(not the pen part) so if it's worked you should now be aboe to see the liquid as some will be missing. See picture below which will hopefully post

Thank you, this is very informative, I get it now! 😀

PandyMoanyMum · 25/05/2025 10:36

Onwards and downwards! We are camping this bank holiday weekend so healthy choices a bit more of a challenge.
Had a McDonald’s en route but did swap my usual Big Mac meal for a katsu chicken wrap and had 3-4 chips not a whole portion. Felt full and satisfied which I never usually would. Greek yoghurt, fruit, granola and a squirt of honey for breakfast. Hopefully can make it work!

This is what I used. Worked fine - much much easier than I thought it would be to extract a dose and to inject.

May Starters Thread 2 ~ heading into summer!
Lefuzzy · 25/05/2025 11:24

Hello everyone, just took my first dose to sneak in with the May starters. Had to delay it a bit as had a nasty virus last week but feeling much better today.
55, perimenopausal, put on 2 stone in less than a year and was shocked to discover my BMI was up to 29+ and the scales tipped 80KG (I'm a bit under 5'4"). Also suffer from sleep apnea if on my back.I have lots of food intolerances and suffer inflammation if I consume gluten and sugar, so I try to avoid them. With the exception of wine in the evening, I follow a healthy, wholefood diet and do lots of walking but still manage to put on weight! Feeling slightly nervous about possible side effects but I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with you all.

SaintAgatha · 25/05/2025 11:28

I’ve actually got a spare needle with my order, so I assume I just do the usual clicks to get it out? Or less?

I mean for the golden dose, sorry I’m being mithered by cats and kids whilst I type!

FurryAnimal · 25/05/2025 11:39

Just for info as I am seeing quite a lot of references to the 'golden dose', I ordered my pen from Morrisons Clinic and they sent me a box of 100 needles with my first order.

No you can’t. It runs out of clicks. You need insulin needles to extract it and inject

Moneyordream · 25/05/2025 12:15

W3D2 today. I have definitely felt as though I am not getting them same suppression as initial dose. The side effects have gone right down also which is such a god send after last weekend! Ordered my next pen but at 5mg ready for after my last dose on Friday. Hope everyone is having a nice bank holiday weekend.

Sw 16st 9lbs
Cw 16st 4lbs
Gw 11st or what feels comfortable

Lovecycling · 25/05/2025 12:21

W4D3 for me. No side effects except tiredness on days 1&2 so far. Lost 0.9 lb in week 3 that I was disappointed by but have lost another 1lb since then. Total loss 10 lbs. I’ve got syringes and needles to do bonus dose and I’ll do that a day earlier than normal as want to change jab day. Good luck everyone for a good week ahead.

SaintAgatha · 25/05/2025 12:38

@AccidentalPrawnYouFool That makes sense. Thank you!

TreesOfGreen99 · 25/05/2025 12:40

@Sashyb i started on Friday too.
Something I’ve found helpful (and recommended here) is the Shotsy App (free version).
Along with putting in your jab info. You can add lots of free notes about the day - I was adding stuff pretty much every couple of hours yesterday as I started the day feeling rough but felt much better as it went on.
Writing it all down and giving marks out of 10 for effectiveness, side effects etc, really helped me to focus and stop panicking (I am a panicker).
I hope today is going better for you.

I am pleased there are several of us who have just started so we can keep company and also benefit from the experiences of those a few weeks ahead of us.
Loving how friendly this thread is!💟

hottubsundays · 25/05/2025 13:00

Hi everyone I’m in w2d7 - at the beginning of the week I felt fine, normal suppression etc, no nausea. But the last couple of days I have felt a bit sick, really lacking in energy but hungry. So have eaten tiny amounts which have made me feel more sick again. My daughters had a cold type virus and I’m wondering if I’ve picked that up but have no cold symptoms at all. Is it normal to feel worse come the end of the week?!

Merluzzo · 25/05/2025 13:14

W2D2 for me. Very few SE thankfully. Slight nausea in the first day or so after the jab. On D1 both last week and this I’ve been freezing cold, but it only lasts 1 day weirdly.

@TreesOfGreen99 I also recommend the Shotsy app (free version), I’ve been logging symptoms but I also really like you can see how much MJ is in your system on any one day. It shows the build up over the weeks and you can see when levels are predicted to drop so can be prepared for perhaps feeling more hungry.

Optimum19 · 25/05/2025 13:53

I'm W3D5. Having first hungry day today. Instead of 60 clicks with the pen, I'm thinking of doing 72 clicks for my 4th jab 3mg?. Has anyone done this? That would then leave me just over 3mg for my 5th dose?

WhynotJanet · 25/05/2025 15:48

Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday weekend. I’m away with DH and eating out every night so it’s been tricky. But, I use Nutracheck to track calories so it’s been really useful to help me make good choices. Breakfast and lunch have been extra healthy meals, no snacking in between because I know the evening involves drink (gin and slimline) and nice restaurants. I have managed to have small portions which I’m so pleased about.

Dutchhouse14 · 25/05/2025 15:50

@Lefuzzy@Lefuzzywelcome there's a few of us that have only just started this week.
So far I've had pretty much zero side effects maybe a bit of indigestion and mild headache but nothing gaviscon and paracetamol didn't quickly sort out.
However supression /food noise is also fairly low. Was doing OK mainly from willpower but yesterday it went downhill as was out for the day.
Had a sneaky weigh in on Friday and had lost 1kg but not sure if that was water as was constantly weeing!
Also starting weight was after a socialable weekend with a lot of food! So will try and be careful for rest of this weekend, although it is a bit boring! Injection day is Tuesday evening for me.
