We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

@Ricoletti loved reading your description of your energy burst, it made me smile. I so wish i could be a morning person and spring out of bed like that, life would be so much more productive.

I haven’t heard back from Med Express yet about my new 5mg pen mishap or if it was faulty. Honestly don’t know if i had it. Didn’t have the burps like last time. Don’t feel particularly hungry but that could still be from last week’s jab.

Iggy35 · 19/05/2025 13:23

Hi,
I started in early May and I'm just thinking of ordering my next pen (5mg). I did my 3rd jab of 2.5 on Friday.
I tried to order with my current supplier (Boots) but there was a message saying there is a national shortage and they won't have it back in stock until end of may the earliest.

Has anyone else had this on 5mg?
I decided to switch suppliers to Oushk (much cheaper price), but I'm now worried I'll get the same message from them.

I ordered my 5mg pen with IQ doctor last friday and it arrived 24hours later, hopefully all will be okay with your order...

BudgieMom · 19/05/2025 14:28

@Iggy35 I ordered my 5mg from medexpress on the 12th and received it yesterday 18th so hopefully you won't wait long

Iggy35 · 19/05/2025 14:31

Thank you @dozywelshbird @BudgieMom , that's reassuring. I made the decision to move up (after much deliberating) and panicked when I was told it won't be possible. It's good to hear other providers are ok with their supplies. Hopefully will know in the next day or so if all good to receive the next pen.

Flowerchild547 · 19/05/2025 14:52

W5D6 and first week of 5mg. I’ve found that the suppression has decreased now. I’m considering splitting it and taking half a dose every 4 days, has anyone done this or seen any info about this?

I probably haven’t but I can’t help but think I’m taking one step forward and two steps back as I do find I am eating more on days 5-7 despite really trying to focus on protein and stopping snacking.

I was hoping 5mg would be my magic dose but I’m not sure yet. However I haven’t had any bad side effects to report which is positive.

Ricoletti · 19/05/2025 16:20

@Flowerchild547 interesting to hear about your suppression decreasing.

I had my first 5ml dose yesterday and my appetite defo isn’t as suppressed as it has been … for the first 3 weeks I had massive suppression and never wanted to eat .

today I was hungry for lunch and am now hungry for dinner.

this is probably a good thing, as I was struggling to eat. But interesting to note.

im still not tempted by junk food which is good. Had chicken breast and strawberries for lunch and enjoyed it, also didn’t struggle to eat it at all.

i didn’t expect this as thought going up to 5 would boost suppression even more!

AlicesMum2025 · 19/05/2025 16:31

@ellieinfrance i was getting cramp in my calf and I think it's due to lack of magnesium. I was having electrolytes but I don't think it was enough because as soon as I stated taking magnesium supplement tablets they have stopped. Got them in Tesco for £3.50- ish (purple bottle)

I've just picked up my 5mg pen from Boots so it might not be a problem. The message after I ordered said there might be a delay of 5 days but I got a message after 2 days saying it was ready. Fingers crossed .

SassyLimeHelper · 19/05/2025 17:09

Hi everyone, checking in for thread 3! I'm on W4D2 today and wondered what decision everyone has made on the next dose? I've got needles for the golden dose but I'm really uncertain as to whether to increase or stay at 2.5mg. I'm wary about going too high and then becoming completely reliant.
For reference, I'm 5ft 6.
SW - 13st 4lb BMI - 30
CW - 12st 5lb BMI - 28

What would you do?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

50lbstolose · 19/05/2025 17:10

@Ricoletti I went for the electrolyte powder.
I had some at lunchtime and felt better almost immediately.

BudgieMom · 19/05/2025 17:19

W3 weigh in 3.5 off! That's 12.5 in 3 weeks 😊😊

PoisonIvy89 · 19/05/2025 17:22

well done on the losses @PeachSnail @dozywelshbird @AdotHam @Nearlyhadenough @Brunocatmon @Pinkapron

@PeachSnail if you've increased your exercise that'll affect the scale numbers initially, it's still a good loss even if it's not as big as you hoped for

@PumpKim me too, yesterday I hit my steps target for the first time in too long. trying to do better this week

@Ricoletti lol at the super efficient snow white! I had the early wake up productive mornings for the first week and it felt very strange indeed, I am not a morning person and have never voluntarily bounced out of bed at 4am before

@Chunkysewist thanks for all the info. people experimenting with their pens and reporting back is so helpful. I read that the way they had adjusted the pen to make it lock was by shortening the plunger so it wouldn't go all the way down but if yours did then that might not be true

@AdotHam yes to the overwhelmed, it's a lot of changes happening very quickly and is a lot to adjust to. I also have a long way to go and it's overwhelming to look at the big numbers, breaking it down in to smaller goals helps a bit. ((hugs)) for the feeling emotional

@Ricoletti ((hugs)) for you too, if your friend was well meaning and unintentionally dismissive it might help to remember that the people that minimize the struggle are the people that don't have food noise and if they haven't experienced it themselves then they have no idea how hard it is for us. that's what's so great about this little community we've found, everyone here understands the struggle and we are all going through it together.

@Chunkysewist agree with that but also I don't want to completely fill the silence, I'm enjoying having a little bit of quiet in my brain!

@AdotHam people's attempts at saying nice things when it comes to weight are really weird sometimes. I once had a guy I was dating tell me if you lost weight I wouldn't have a chance with you there'd be guys queueing at your door, he was (I think!) trying to give me a compliment but in the middle of sex was not the time for that one 😆

@Brunocatmon I'd find that a bit tricky too. I have a friend who speaks very very negatively about herself when she gains weight, and I get it I have all those same thoughts too, but I wouldn't say them out loud, and I can't help but feel sad sometimes that she thinks those things about me even when she's doing the but you look great as you are you don't need to lose weight.

@Iggy35 oh I hope not, I'm counting down till payday on friday so I can order my next pen. I did speak to my prescriber yesterday and they didn't mention anything about shortages so I'm hoping they would have warned me if there was going to be an issue

That's so odd. It literally said there is a shortage and by pressing next I'm agreeing to ordering another round of 2.5mg, how bizarre.
Good luck on your 5mg injection, I'm dreading it , but I feel like I need the step up to progress.

Pandimoanymum · 19/05/2025 18:02

Hello all, I haven't posted for a while as I don't weigh weekly anymore, I found I was getting disappointed in the first few weeks when I didn't seem to be losing anything but everyone else was dropping 5/6/7lb in the first week 😂
Ok, I know it wasn't everyone but it felt like it sometimes!
Anyway, just been to my GP for blood test results. Also had another blood pressure check since she had to put me on a higher dose of medication for blood pressure last time, the first increase I've had to have since I started BP meds about 8 years ago.
Well, I had some good news and not so good news. The not so good is that my blood test showed I'm pre-diabetic. Only just into that category, but that's not good and obviously related to being obese.
But the GOOD news is I've lost 12lb since she last weighed me at the beginning of April! That's when I started Mounjaro.
I'm so pleased!! (And so was the GP, lol)
That's nearly a whole stone. I'm now 16 stone 6lb. I haven't been under 17 stone for at least 5 years. I can feel I've lost weight since starting the jabs, but I didn't think it was that much.
Really happy. Not even that bothered about the pre-diabetes now either, as that will probably go away if I continue to lose weight/eat healthier/exercise.

violetmondays · 19/05/2025 18:03

@Iggy35 thanks, I am not due to dose until Friday and I might try and get the final dose out of the 2.5 one first although I am not doing it with a syringe so if the pen doesn't work then I'll use the 5 pen. I might just do 3.75 on the first one but other's experiences this week might give me the confidence to go straight to 5!

NSV - today I am wearing a pair of non-stretch jeans that I haven't worn for at least 2 years! And there is room! One of the things I am really looking forward to, is being able to enjoy buying and wearing stylish clothes again as opposed to living in joggers/leggings/jumpers which seems to have been my staple wardrobe for the last few years.

That’s fantastic well done you and yes the pre diabetes will most likely reverse with your new life changes.

Pinkapron · 19/05/2025 20:37

Can I please ask, exactly why is everyone taking electrolytes?

Ricoletti · 19/05/2025 20:40

.. I was so smug this morning and I feel absolutely wretched this evening.

sick as a dog and in bed with rennies and a heat pad on my tummy.

I hope this is just a blip and not a sign of 5ml ville things to come …

Ricoletti · 19/05/2025 20:41

Pinkapron · 19/05/2025 20:37

Can I please ask, exactly why is everyone taking electrolytes?

I take them as I was drinking loads of water and still felt crap with awful headaches... I feel 100% better with electrolytes.

PoisonIvy89 · 19/05/2025 20:43

well done @BudgieMom (apologies for missing yours when i posted earlier)

@Pandimoanymum well done, you'll soon fix that prediabetes!

@Ricoletti hope you feel better soon

Chunkysewist · 19/05/2025 20:56

Hope it eases soon @Ricoletti i think 5mg must be the hardest jump in dose because it's the only one that's double the previous one ❤️

Pinkapron · 19/05/2025 21:02

@Ricoletti @ymemanresu thank you, and I hope you feel much better soon Ricoletti 💐

Pinkapron · 19/05/2025 21:07

I haven’t had any excessive thirst, nor much in the way or side effects, so not sure if I’d notice the difference if I took electrolytes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’ll now read the rest of the advice to see what else I should be doing! 🫣😂
