We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

Has anyone tried a price match with Medexpress? Finding it tricky getting current price from some websites without doing the full consultation. Not keen to do that as I may want to use the other providers as a new customer later! I've just ordered a 2nd 5mg pen from Medexpress and have 7 days to claim a price match.

PoisonIvy89 · 13/06/2025 18:41

💩 For anyone suffering with constipation... have you found the constipation has worsened when increasing the dose?
I think I'm going to get 5mg for my 3rd pen. I'm still doing ok on 2.5 but I am having less supression this week and using more willpower and I'm more interested in food so thinking ahead by the time I start the next pen I might need to increase. Tomorrow is my second dose of pen 2 so it will be a few weeks till then but I'm a little concerned about making the constipation worse.

great losses!! @Discogirl23 @Crunchymum @Vixs13 @violetmondays @Steala

@Crunchymum losing mine too! I nearly jabbed a day early today because I had the day off work so when I woke up and my work alarm hadn't gone off I thought it was saturday and headed straight to the mj

@StartingApril2025 I would use the syringe and do it all in one, no point piercing your skin twice to do it seperately. And yeah you'll want one and a half doses so 0.9ml. Good luck, I was nervous about doing the extra dose too but it's not that bad.

Tomorrow is weigh in & jab 7, hoping I poop before then 😂💩

StartingApril2025 · 13/06/2025 18:47

@PoisonIvy89 done, however I had a big air bubble so by time I got that out I only had 82ml so just over 3mg but better than just 2.5mg . This weeks been frustrating!!

Sheldon4k · 13/06/2025 18:51

@PoisonIvy89i didnt have constipation rhat bad at all on 2.5mg. I have had it quite bad since doing 3.75 from the 5mg pen, hence why I havent increased it...plus super exhaustion. (Although this week 3rd 3.75, the exhaustion hasn't been as bad but the constipation is).

Ricoletti · 13/06/2025 19:23

@PoisonIvy89 me and constipation go way back, and I’ve defo struggled more on MJ… but no worse on 5 than 2.5.
I take 2 magnesium at bedtime. This helps.

Ricoletti · 13/06/2025 19:25

@PoisonIvy89 also, I make sure to have sweetcorn and some raw carrots daily. Flax seed in my breakfast chia pot. Bit of dried fruit here and there. Small but consistent ‘roughage’ …
I didn’t realise how much this was helping with my pooping until I got lazy for a week and stopped ….

Ricoletti · 13/06/2025 19:54

I’m defo starting to feel the effects of jab wearing off toward end of the week. I jab on Sundays, and today I was itching to snack. I ate some crisps with my healthy, small lunch… and just took the kiddos to Pizza Hut. I only ate 1.5 slices with salad as got full… but then wanted something sweet when we got home.

It feels so weird after so many weeks of food being boring and non engaging for me.
I ate a few little coconut cocoa keto snacks that I get from Costco (and am obsessed with) and that small treat has satisfied the urge nicely. but i really wanted them!!!

in some ways, I’m glad I can still fancy things and eat treat foods at weekends… in other ways, I miss food being ‘meh’ .

things such a mental journey as well as a physical one!

PoisonIvy89 · 13/06/2025 22:33

Thanks @Sheldon4k @Ricoletti
Me and constipation are also old friends, I'm struggling with not being able to rely on a dulcolax anymore. I used to be able to take one at night when I knew I'd be near the loo the next morning and everything was ticking along nicely. But now it either doesn't work at all or takes a few days to work and I can't predict when and can't always stay near a bathroom just in case, it's very annoying. I've been too squeamish to try the glycerin ones so far but think I will try one tomorrow.
I am taking magnesium but it's not helping. I add ground flaxseeds to my overnight oats. Dried fruit I haven't tried so will get some when I'm next shopping, thanks for the suggestion.

Yes me too, I've been more interested in food this week, maybe mj wearing off a bit or maybe becuase my period is due, but I miss feeling meh about food

Scousebloke · 14/06/2025 06:12

End of week 8 for me so a date with the scales.
Lost 3lb this week giving a total loss of 1 stone 6lb. Happy with that. Jab 9 tonight.

Coventree · 14/06/2025 06:57

Crunchymum · 13/06/2025 17:59

I'm glad to hear your HCP was supportive about MJ. I'm also glad to hear you have a plan for your poor knee.

I have an autoimmune arthritis (medicated) and thus far x2 rheumatology nurses and my consultant have all been very quick to say they can't advise on MJ / they don't advocate it as it's a new drug / it's up to prescriber not them whether their patients take it.

Given the fact many people who suffer with arthritis also have mobility issues which leads to obesity and the prevalence of MJ, you'd think someone would at least look into it. I'm at a massive London teaching hospital as well !

Edited

Oh no, @Crunchymum, how daft that they can’t be supportive. I said that him that I’m sure it’s helped with the swelling and he was nodding away. Have you found it’s had any direct impact on your condition? Bit hard to separate it from the overall benefits of losing weight, I guess. And sorry to hear you’re dealing with all that - the actual condition plus your HCPs’ attitudes to MJ when you would have thought they’d be encouraging. Maybe you need to move to Coventry 🤣. I need to gen up on arthritis - we’ve come away for the weekend but need a proper upskilling google session, including understanding what it actually is!

Coventree · 14/06/2025 07:15

Well done @Scousebloke 👏

I too am bezzie mates with constipation (never functioned the same again after my 13-yr old was born via forceps and episiotomy with epidural as next step was emergency c-section - I couldn’t tell what I supposed to be pushing when they were telling me and I’m sure more damage than known was done 😕). One daily dulcolax now gives relief every few days with a glycerin suppository to get things moving, or two dulcolax forces the more nuclear 💩 action, but it’s all taking a few days longer to work, which is harder to plan for. Would prefer a more natural food solution so will also look at your suggestions @PoisonIvy89and @Ricoletti, but I haven’t found 5mg constipation any worse than 2.5/3.75mg.

BeachBodyAim · 14/06/2025 08:17

SW 17.7
CW 15.10
WK 8 loss - 2lb
Total loss - 1 stone 11pounds

Jab 9 today - I can’t believe how fast the weeks are going!!!!
Aiming for the 3lbs this week to get to 2stone total loss before we go away next Saturday!! I never thought it would be within touching distance by my holiday so I’m totally buzzing!!!
I’m still getting loads of suppression and zero food noise on the 2.5mg pen so sticking with that for now!!
I just love, love, love MJ and what’s it’s doing for me!!!
Well done everyone on your losses and NSV!!!
We’ve got this!!!!!!! 🤩

Sallycinnamum · 14/06/2025 08:19

Morning all!

Hospital admissions team rang yesterday and I can't take MJ until my hysteroscopy is over on Tuesday.

Know it's for safety reasons but I'll have 4 days off it! Be interesting to see if the hunger returns.

Ricoletti · 14/06/2025 09:15

@BeachBodyAim yes , you work that holiday body 🤩

Ricoletti · 14/06/2025 09:15

@Scousebloke fabulous loss, well done! 🥳

Ricoletti · 14/06/2025 09:20

@Sallycinnamum is be really interested to hear if good noise etc returns after that gap….

@Coventree have you tried laxido? When I’m in a constipated ‘phase’ I take it daily. It’s not as nuclear as dulcolax, more of a slow burning , keeping things ticking kind of thing.
My body hasn’t functioned the same since a similarly obstructed birth 15 years ago , I feel you!

PumpKim · 14/06/2025 09:40

Well done on the losses everyone

My injection site rash was on fire yesterday, used an ice pack last night to calm it which helped. Just find it odd that it's reacted on the third 5mg. Still there now with a bit of an itch 😬

After saying I wouldn't, I've ordered syringes to get the extra dose 🙈 I didn't want to be messing with the pens but it's a purely cost based decision. Going to stick with 5mg for my next pen as it's doing what it should and SEs are minimal.

Zebracat · 14/06/2025 10:14

Good Morning. I’ve weighed today and lost1.6 kilos, which is about 3.3 pounds. Quite pleased with that. 0.1 kilo takes me to 10 kilos lost. 0.6 takes me to 10% of body weight. It would be really nice to achieve those next month when I get weighed by the pharmacist who gives me my pen. Think I will stay at 5 mg. Constipation is a real issue. I know Im not drinking enough, but I am eating loads of fruit and veg. I think I will do laxido today. I’m desperate.

Well done on that fab loss! Especialky considering the ‘extra load’ that constipation brings!
have you tried daily magnesium for constipation? I take 2 every night and it’s helping , but also as a bonus it’s helping my sleep and restless legs too!

I’m so sorry your rash is still bad! The first few times it happened to me it was so itchy and awful. Weirdly the most recent one was much smaller and less raised, not as itchy and went away after a few days. I’m hoping this is a sign my body is getting used to it and it will get less of an issue as the weeks go by.

does yours ‘come up’ straight away or is there a delay after jabbing? Mine takes a day or so to develop.

it’s baffling, as it just suddenly started with 5ml for me.

I take 2 antihistamines on jabbing day and one daily every day. I have used hydrocortisone cream on the rash and that was better than the anthisan for me.

Hope you get relief soon x

Work really hard at increasing your drinking. That will help a lot.

I always have a packet of dried figs in the house and I find one of those helps things loosen up.

PumpKim · 14/06/2025 12:19

Thanks @Ricoletti
I jab at night, didn't notice before bed but it was there when I got up the next day. I already take a daily antihistamine but have been doubling up. I'll try hydrocortisone. I have a condition called pompholyx on my foot and occasionally my hands which is the most insanely itchy tiny blisters so I've got a fair few itchy remedies already in the house!

Zebracat · 14/06/2025 12:24

@Ricoletti , @bridgetreilly I have magnesium but was taking it in the morning, to no effect. Keep forgetting it in the evening. So, I’ve set a reminder. I’m on my 2nd bottle of water already, will try hard for 4 a day. Thank you both. I’m never gonna eat dried figs though, bleurgh. But I love them fresh and I have a tree full ripening nicely.
