We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

Official weigh day today (end of my week for the average).
'only' 0.56lb this week. I know a loss is a loss and my trend has been consistently down which is fantastic but I still wanted more 🙈
My overall loss is 12.2lb in 6 weeks which I am really pleased with overall.

Tiredness has lifted and I felt fine yesterday. I'm starting to realise I feel a bit off if I don't eat properly, even though I'm not experiencing what I normally recognise as hunger cues, so I need to make sure I have my three meals as a habit and not skip if I don't feel particularly hungry.
Learning every day.

Back to try to catch up on everyone's posts

@RubyJuno that's a great NSV, glad it gave you a boost

@Hawkmoth 😱😂 thanks for the warning to not look, some things I just don't want to know. I have some white hairs in my arm pit but I think it's from the lumea rather than old age 😂

@PeachSnail hope you feel better soon

@Ricoletti that's probably just some fluid retention after the salty foods

@Vixs13 hope you have an easier week

@Undecided2025 is that a bigger boob thing, or maybe shorter arms, I've always crossed mine under

@BeachBodyAim I 100% agree with everything you said! and thanks for the recommendation, putting them on my list of ones to try

@Coventree I never talked so much about bowel movements before 😂
that looks yum thanks for sharing, I'll dig out some of my current faves. I've just resubscribed to gousto so looking forward to trying some new recipes next week.

Well done @Crunchymum @GoGoGovy @AbundanceofKatherines @violetmondays @Sallycinnamum @Lidlbitofmonica @Vixs13 @Scousebloke @BeachBodyAim @SassyLimeHelper @Zebracat and anyone else I missed, had a lot of posts to catch up on. Great losses!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

@PoisonIvy89 defintely bigger boob rather than smaller arms, but also space under boob. I reckon my under boob/rib circumference has reduced 😅

Ricoletti · 08/06/2025 11:27

@PumpKim I’m the same. I don’t often feel hungry and I can easily ignore hunger, but if I don’t eat enough over a few days I feel really flakey and floppy. In the few days after jabbing I have to set reminders on my phone to eat !

Ricoletti · 08/06/2025 11:31

Jab day for me, intend to do in the evening to try and sleep off the slightly woozy feeling.
after my couple of mad days away where I had limited healthy food choices, and gained that 1lb… I’ve weighed again this morning and I’m 3 lb down 🙌🏻

so that’s 1st 6lb loss in total since I started MJ.

feeling motivated 🥳

Sunshineandpool · 08/06/2025 16:24

Hi gang!

I'm W7D2
Sw 19st2
Cw 17st 6

I'm still on 2.5mg and still have good suppression but not quite as much as with the 1st pen which is making it easier to eat and get closer to my protein goal.

I've just come back from a nice walk in the park. Still finding Juniper really good. My health coach is brilliant and I'm finding the programme for cardio and strength training particularly good.

Well done everyone on all the losses and NSVs!

Sallycinnamum · 08/06/2025 16:37

Felt absolutely wiped out this weekend and mild nausea since 7th jab on Friday evening.

Could barely eat anything yesterday and managed some toast at lunchtime.

Shotsy says I've got 3.28mg in my system so will taper off in time for a ridiculously manic work week. I don't have the time to be poorly!

bridgetreilly · 08/06/2025 17:25

Well, side effects have kicked in with a vengeance for me over the last two days, with near constant stomach ache and diarrhoea. I don’t think I had eaten anything especially fatty to trigger it, and am half wondering whether it just is a stomach bug, tbh. But I would like it to be over soon!

bridgetreilly · 08/06/2025 17:27

Also, very interesting discussion about WLI on Woman’s Hour on Friday, pointing out that if you aren’t careful to eat protein and do exercise you can end up losing muscle, not just fat. But after you stop the jabs, if you regain weight it will be fat. So it’s very possible to end up much unhealthier. Good reminder to me, especially re. the protein.

Ricoletti · 08/06/2025 17:45

Thanks for the reminder @bridgetreilly. I think I need to start having protein shakes…as I’m getting a bit lazy with protein. My appetite is so minimal and easily satisfied that sometimes I’m just having a few corn cakes with cheese spread and cherry tomatoes for a meal. Delicious, but not very protein rich.

Ive noticed I’m looking a bit floppy/low muscle tone. Especially my thighs, and More so than usual. I initially thought this was just more of the soft/floppyness I’m getting in areas I was much bigger and am now shrinking- my fat tends to go very soft and bumpy as it shrinks? My tummy is a wobbly blancmange.

but now I’m thinking it’s my muscles turning to jelly 😵‍💫

some things I find easy to incorporate are a tin of tuna for lunch, having sliced chicken breast in fridge to add to meals( more planning required) a few spoons of Greek yoghurt and having a handful of nuts every day.

ideally I would eat my protein, but this is a timely reminder that a protein shake on days I’m not managing to eat well is a good option.

Sheldon4k · 08/06/2025 18:12

@bridgetreilly @Ricoletti The protein issue is on my radar at the mo as I am monitoring other changes on my scales and I have noticed that muscle is decreasing (i know they aren't totally accurate but I am mindful of trying to maintain muscle).

Im going to the gym and undertaking strength training 3 times a week, sometimes more , however an injury isnt allowing me to progress with that as much as I would like.

Last couple of weeks have been tough, illness and feeling exhausted since increasing to 3.75mg. However I have found a good lunch option, protein bagel thin, slice of edam and a couple slices of cooked Ham. Really quick to make and packs in the protein and even on a fairly bad feeling day I do seem to be able to finish one.

Also boil a few eggs off every few days so I have a quick protein hit if needed, same with having some tins tuna to hand and some prawns too.

Im not a yogurt fan, but if I was I would 100% have the zero fat greek yoghurt daily. Instead I have some protein Rice puddings in for an extra protein boost.

StartingApril2025 · 08/06/2025 18:40

All very interesting re protein m and muscle wastage- defo something I need to be mindful of as I think I’m losing muscle in my legs especially but it’s no surprise as I do zero exercise really and Iv got lazy with protein ( and water!) to be honest so defo need the reminder thanks! I weighed this morning and I put on 2lbs but also started my period so not stressing too much. Also last night which was day after the 7th shot I was pure munchy mood and had a chocolate bar with my tea- first in 6 weeks! I defo don’t seem to align with the Shotsy app as when it says I’m highest that doesn’t correlate to my feelings!
hope those who are having side effects feel better soon, not nice anytime especially at weekend!

Crunchymum · 08/06/2025 18:49

Hello all,

Who is going up to 7.5mg for their 3rd pen? I think I am going to have to (barring any SE this week) as I am still normal level hungry on 5mg.

I keep getting reminders to order my next pen (have one dose of 5mg left so have some time to play with as I won't use this until Friday) but I'm all but certain I'll go up.

Will I be a guinea pig for the group? 😂

Edited

I’ve got two more jabs to go on 5mg, but yea, wlll be moving up to 7.5mg - I’m eating better and too many carbs are an absolute no, but in general
i don’t think my suppression is at the same levels that others described,

Seahawk80 · 08/06/2025 19:59

Congratulations to everyone on their losses! Also now working out how I cross my arms!
I went out yesterday and drank far too much, it was a family event and wasn’t even on my radar that it would be a heavy one but I had some sad news about a friend and we stayed longer than planned and think I just drank my feelings. Feel terrible today and had white toast for breakfast and then ate loads of popcorn at the cinema with DS. Feeling very sorry for myself but I’m not going to let it ruin my diet, going to cook something healthy with lots of protein for dinner now. Onwards and downwards!

Coventree · 08/06/2025 20:15

Yes, it’s just one weekend @Seahawk80 and nearly over, so accept it was a one-off reaction to your sad news and hope you can get back on track tomorrow x

I’m sticking with 5mg for my 3rd pen so more than happy for you @Lidlbitofmonica and @Crunchymum to be our guinea pigs 🤣

Thinking about the protein/muscle loss…I’m being a bit thick and wonder if anyone else has the Renpho scales to help me decipher the data? Am I looking at the muscle mass, which has come down from 8st 0.8lb since starting and is showing in the ‘high’, or the skeletal muscle to the left of that which has gone up from 3.33% and still in the ‘low’? I can’t work out if I’m doing okay or need to worry! My metabolic age is resolutely sticking at 56, a whole 6 years and 6 months above my actual age 😂

Late April starters - thread 3
Coventree · 08/06/2025 20:21

*33.3% not 3.33%…that would be some going

This is true but we also need to remember that this applies to any restrictive diet, it's not unique to WLIs.

@Coventree https://www.nutracheck.co.uk/Meals?action=showMealRequest&guid=959b58e3-8955-4896-8ec2-70467441a40f

Muscle mass is your overall whole body muscles including organs like your heart and skeletal muscle is your muscles that are attached to your skeleton that you use for mobility and that you can build up doing strength exercises, biceps glutes etc. Ideally you want to increase this, losing muscle mass is not what we want to do. Anything labelled fat - visceral, subcutaneous, these are the numbers we want to see decreasing.
I have a renpho but my screen looks a little different. Do you have the comparison option? You should be able to choose a date to compare your current stats to and that will show how much each is increasing or decreasing. As long as you are seeing your skeletal muscle increasing you are on the right track, that's the most important thing to focus on. These are the muscles in your arms and legs that you use to move, this being too low is what leads to people losing mobility as they age. It decreases after age 40 anyway and we don't want to make that even worse with weight loss. If you want a number to aim for, I think for age 40-60 we want to have around 60-70%? I'd have to check exact numbers but somewhere around there. If it makes you feel any better mine is also low 32.2%, it is slowly increasing but I definitely need to start doing more strength exercises.

@Coventree
What is a good skeletal muscle mass percentage?
For men, muscle mass averages range differently depending on age groups-
· Age 20-39, 75%-89%
· Age 40-59, 73%-86%
· Age 60-79, 70%-84%
For women, muscle mass averages range differently depending on age groups-
· Age 20-39, 63%-75.5%
· Age 40-59, 62%-73.5%
· Age 60-79, 60%-72.5%

Coventree · 08/06/2025 21:29

Oh fab recipe @PoisonIvy89, my mouth’s watering in zingy anticipation!

I’ve got a trends screen but I don’t think I’ve got a comparison option…there is an updated app I think that brings all Renpho products together but I didn’t bother updating so I wonder if you have that? Maybe I’ll look at it again.

Okay, great, so it’s the skeletal muscle to pay attention to, and I’m currently too low but it’s going up so in the right direction. Phew, thanks!

Seahawk80 · 08/06/2025 22:47

Thanks @Coventree yes I think a combination of grief and having to see the in laws sent me over the edge yesterday. I had a healthy dinner and hopefully the popcorn didn’t do too much damage. I’m not a numbers person so can’t be much help I’m afraid!

In terms of recipes it’s very retro but I dug out some of the hairy bikers diet cookbooks from years ago. I like them as they are all calorie counted but feel like real food if that makes sense! Tonight we had spicy pork and rice and it was delicious. I’d recommend them if you can track them down somewhere.

Yes, of course, but because the weight loss is so much quicker this way, it’s easy for even more muscle to be lost.

I second the recommendation for that Hairy Bikers spicy pork and rice, it’s a regular in our house!

dozywelshbird · 09/06/2025 09:17

I too had a bit more booze on the weekend than I should have had (sorry for your sad news @Seahawk80 ) and felt absolutely rotten yesterday, plus my period arrived early hours of the night so that compounded it 🙄

I had a sneaky weigh on sat and I had lost 2lbs, but my official weigh in today showed just 1lb off - humpfff - but that will be because of TOTM

So still very slow and steady, 11lbs since 28th April, not even made it to the 1st stone club yet, I did 3.75mg last week so contemplating the full 5mg today - 🤔
