Late April starters - thread 3

We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

I have been on 5mg for a week now and have no appetite at all. Really struggling to eat.
Wondering if I should go back down to 2.5 as that was working well for me.

What about reducing to 3.75mg and see how you get on? You need to eat or it will bring other complications. I’m due jab 3 of 5mg tomorrow and my GP has recommended I stay on that for a few months. She reckons you shouldn’t go up the doses too quickly if you are going to be long term on MJ.

PeachSnail · 06/06/2025 10:14

@Crunchymum I'm currently feeling really poorly after having strong SE the past couple of days: retching, burping, nausea, dry mouth... I feel exhausted and have had to rest. I've now got pretty bad diarrhoea. I feel like this must be the MJ, but it's such a strong contrast from last week, when I took exactly the same dose (3.75)... I guess there's also a chance it could be a stomach bug, but it's strange that it should coincide so neatly with peaking MJ levels... Anyway, I think I'm going to lower my dose next week as I can't cope with feeling like this.

I had this a few weeks into 2.5mg. Had almost a week off work. I left it 10 days to the next dose (waited until side effects wore off) then reduced to 1.25. have incremented v slowly since, now on 3.75 and accepted I’m weirdly sensitive to it.

toobusytoclean · 06/06/2025 23:13

Even though I gained 0.1kg last week SheMEd have decided to keep me on 5mg. Think I’m actually relieved as feel rubbish 24 hours after jabbing.
Have had too much wine/fizz tonight celebrating a colleague’s new house. Any top tips for managing a MJ hangover?

My GP friend says almost all of her patients stay on 5mg. I’d be really wary about keep escalating. Especially if experiencing side effects. I can see me staying on 3.75mg. I’ve lost 11kg in 6 weeks on relatively small doses.

Am wondering how many of the more worrying side effects appear on higher doses. Also whether the ‘ozempic face’ seen on certain celebs is a result of galloping through doses and being in starvation mode.

Scousebloke · 07/06/2025 06:21

End of week 7 for me.
Only lost 1lb this week. Still better than gaining a lb and continues my streak of losing at least 1lb every week. Total loss now 1 stone 3lb. Jab 8 tonight.

Undecided2025 · 07/06/2025 09:16

Well done everyone on your losses so far 👏
Just jumping back on, this thread moves so quickly!
I saw someone talk about non scale victories, and I have one to add. Someone said to me the other day, ‘You can fold your arms under your boobs, I’ve got to fold mine on top now’ and I realised I had been doing the same and don’t need to any longer 🤣🥳

BeachBodyAim · 07/06/2025 09:44

SW 17.7
CW 15.12
WK7 loss 3lb
total loss 1st 9lb

This bloody stuff is AMAZING!!!!!! Never have I lost weight this consistently. Never have I not felt the need to have a ‘cheat night’ on a diet - usually running into a calorie consumption of a few thousand!! Never have I felt this positive on a diet!!!
I appreciate I’ve been lucky having no life impacting SE and being able to stick to the 2.5mg pen and that could/probably will change but I AM BUZZING!!!!!
Well done to everyone on your losses and NSV - we’ve got this!!!!!

SassyLimeHelper · 07/06/2025 10:01

Hi everyone, checking back in for the end of week 6. I reduced my cals back down to 1200 this week, as I'm just not active enough to justify 1500 and I think that's probably why my losses slowed so much last week. Still managing 3 meals a day plus fruit snacks and feeling satisfied.
So far, I've done 5 weeks of 2.5mg (inc golden dose) and this is the end of my first week of 3.75mg, with a 2.5lb loss.
I'm still struggling massively with constipation (no other SEs though) and have booked a colonic irrigation - it's been a problem for me since before the jabs, and I put it down to diet. Now that my diet has improved, I want to actually feel the benefit of it, rather than being blocked and sluggish all of the time, or overusing laxatives.
Total loss in 42 days: 1st 4.5lb
SW - 13st 4lb
CW - 11st 13.5lb
GW - 9st 10lb

Very happy that my weight now starts with an 11!!

wlinewbie0425 · 07/06/2025 10:01

@Icebreakhellthat’s interesting, I am keen to stay as low as is working as there seems to be more and more evidence that it’s entirely possible to get to goal at lower doses over time and possibly more sustainable for maintenance. It’s just that all the official studies to date were on 5/10/15mg. And some of us will need to go up there which is fine, but if we don’t then why take more? See you are thinking the same @StartingApril2025and @Beachbabes

and @Crunchymumwell done, a lb loss is a loss and continues your great progress overall. I was a maintain last week and it’s fine, still feeling motivated by the whole process. Also @GoGoGovyI’m down a clasp on my bras too - which also had extenders on before I started this! Brilliant NSV.

well done @Sallycinnamumand @Lidlbitofmonicaon reaching the stone milestone!! And @AbundanceofKatherineson another great week’s loss. Also @Vixs13 and @violetmondays

@Ricolettidon’t let the tiny gain bother you - you know why, and in a way it’s great to feel how that sort of food doesn’t agree with your body.

@Undecided2025I’ve just been sitting here crossing and uncrossing my arms to work out what you mean 😂 when I look at my starting photos compared to recent progress ones my belly stuck out further than my boobs on side view so think you mean arms rested on belly and had to fold them above? Happy to report mine dont now too, there is space for an arm fold!

@PumpKim and @ymemanresu@Coventreehope the tiredness passes - I’ve noticed massive exhaustion days 2-3 after my increase to 3.75 but then bouncing back later in week.

@PeachSnailand @LordJohnGreyhope you feel better soon, if you need to reduce just do what feels right for you.

good luck with the PT @Brunocatmonnot eating enough is such a danger on this.

@toobusytocleanI have only had one MJ hangover so far, after an evening out with a friend where I didn’t manage much of my dinner but did manage 4 large wines over 3.5 hours. I woke at 5am feeling like my stomach was 100% acid, threw up the acid, sipped water then managed a slimfast shake which felt like it settled my stomach. I also took extra electrolytes and tonnes of water that day and kept food very plain. Hope you feel ok this morning.

Happy weekend everyone - tried to catch up with last 24 hours on this busy thread but sorry if I missed anyone - we are all doing fab and just need to keep going despite any bumps in the road!

On the folding your arms under your boob's thing, when I'm driving, you know your right arm gently rests against the side of your body as you hold the steering wheel ( uk drivers ), that's a big indication for me.

When i was bigger I could really feel the folds of tummy, side of my body. As I'm getting slimmer, I'm feeling that much less.

So that's a nsv for me 😁.

Try it as you're driving.

Zebracat · 07/06/2025 10:32

Weighed and injected wk 7 day 1. I’ve not eaten so mindfully this week, I had cake on Wednesday, Eton mess on Thursday and a large icecream last night, although my overall calories were within the range I allow myself. I know I can’t carry on like that. I know that I need Mounjaro because I am prediabetic and insulin resistant, so eating unnecessary sugar that often is not ok.
I’ve still lost 1.5 kilos. I hope that isn’t going to mean I think I can get away with it, and carry on. I’ve told myself that I want to learn to eat like a slim person, not like a fat person on a permanent diet. To me that means I should not beat myself up about a slice of cake, but nor should I waste a quarter of my calories on sugar every day. I’ve planned a weekend of healthy eating, soups and salads, so that should help with the reset. I have quite a long way to go as current weight is 97.6 kilos.

Undecided2025 · 07/06/2025 10:37

In terms of submitting a price match for med express, I’ve look at the monj page, do you need to go through all the info entering to get a price for 5mg for each provider? Or am I missing an easier/quicker way?

GoGoGovy · 07/06/2025 11:07

@wlinewbie0425 @toobusytoclean interesting. Last night, as a Friday treat, I had a small ( but totally delicious) portion of my DH’s pancetta macaroni cheese - basically saturated fat and carbs. I also had just over 1/2 a bottle of red. Felt ok at the time, but went to bed and within 10 minutes, was chucking up (tmi). Not sure if it was the booze, the meal or the combination of fat and booze. Lesson learnt!

Edit. Feel absolutely fine this morning. No hangover.

I did it by using their contact form with the title “price match” and sharing my order code then they wanted the URL to the site with the cheaper price - when I did it it was Chemist4u and I sent the link to their website showing it was £129 for the 5mg and they gave me credit for the difference plus £5.

I am thinking you can only do this every second order as have to use the credit on next pen. Or does anyone know can you price match whilst also using credit?

As you are really getting the discount as credit for your next order not actually getting this one price matched cheaper at all! Is that how all the companies price match? Or do you get a refund on the current order?

I can’t recommend Ashcroft Pharmacy highly enough!!!
2.5mg £120
5mg £134
£6.99 postage - Royal Mail special delivery next day

simple questionnaire, photo and authorised within a few hours! No first time discount - that’s the price every time.
I’ve had 2 pens from them and 1 from Medexpress- far better service from Ashcroft!!! (Medexpress took 12 days to deliver!!!)

StartingApril2025 · 07/06/2025 11:55

@SassyLimeHelper i empathise with the constipation , not current but when I was pregnant it was so so so awful, I had to have a manual extraction thing done as was stuck in my back passage- not anything I ever want to have repeated in my life! Dignity was out the window, but was a relief as was so painful! . I had a colonic before ( not pregnant) and omgggg it was amazing, kinda gross but amazing, had one again a week later and both did the trick. I also came out feeling lighter and so so much less sluggish so hopefully you feel those benefits too!

Great thank you 🙏
I looked at Zava first, but I needed to input all my details before I’d see a price. Didn’t know if all websites would be the same but thankfully not.
Ive asked in my email if it’s every second month or whether it’s possible monthly 🤞

Hawkmoth · 07/06/2025 13:47

Joining back in with the poo conversation, was pleased to find generic Dulcolax (5mg Bisocodyl) on Home Bargains. £1.29 for 20.

Told DD they were for her dad and she won't stop going on at him about it!!!

Coventree · 07/06/2025 16:13

Keep going everyone - we’re marching on down the scales and NSVs!

I’ll be interested to hear how the colonic goes! I’ve often wondered if it would help, a bit of fresh start when you have a diet overhaul kind of thing. Oh, the poo talk in this thread is soooo lovely 💩🤣

Has anyone got any good recipes to share? This popped up on Facebook, US measurements which is a bit of a pain to work out but sounds tasty and full of goodness: https://www.wellplated.com/orzo-pasta-salad/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwKxM8JleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHlvUxjl_ek1xz8lnB5cHvgRutSoehNpmlNPcWuYvaYGHn_50dgRp08vTNXcH_aem_kWL4H1MkphfuIqRPPH77IA

Makes 8 portions. Calorie details at the very bottom of the recipe (324 calories for one portion, 11g protein)

Orzo Pasta Salad

This Greek orzo pasta salad recipe is loaded with Mediterranean flavor with feta, olives, chickpeas, tomatoes, and basil. Fresh and delish!

6th dose for me today. I had some trouble priming, it took 4 attempts before I got any liquid out. I hope all those wasted clicks don't cause trouble later on but I have syringes so not a problem if I do run out of clicks. I need to buy some extra pen needles.
Very happy to say I am down 3.1lbs this week which just about puts me in the 250s which feels a whole lot better than nearly 280 which felt scarily close to 300.

Start 277lbs
week1 -4.5
week2 -4.9
week3 -3
week4 -1.8
week5 -3.1
Current 259.7lbs

Total loss so far 17.3lbs

PoisonIvy89 · 07/06/2025 18:23

Back to try to catch up on everyone's posts

@RubyJuno that's a great NSV, glad it gave you a boost

@Hawkmoth 😱😂 thanks for the warning to not look, some things I just don't want to know. I have some white hairs in my arm pit but I think it's from the lumea rather than old age 😂

@PeachSnail hope you feel better soon

@Ricoletti that's probably just some fluid retention after the salty foods

@Vixs13 hope you have an easier week

@Undecided2025 is that a bigger boob thing, or maybe shorter arms, I've always crossed mine under

@BeachBodyAim I 100% agree with everything you said! and thanks for the recommendation, putting them on my list of ones to try

@Coventree I never talked so much about bowel movements before 😂
that looks yum thanks for sharing, I'll dig out some of my current faves. I've just resubscribed to gousto so looking forward to trying some new recipes next week.

Well done @Crunchymum @GoGoGovy @AbundanceofKatherines @violetmondays @Sallycinnamum @Lidlbitofmonica @Vixs13 @Scousebloke @BeachBodyAim @SassyLimeHelper @Zebracat and anyone else I missed, had a lot of posts to catch up on. Great losses!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
