We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

The small losses are tough and I am sure we will have weeks where we gain, but even small steps count when you are moving in the right direction x

AbundanceofKatherines · 27/05/2025 15:58

I’m interested to hear how the early jabbers get on with their second 5mg dose.

I’m W5D6 and have found the first week of 5mg (so far) to be quite trying. No nasty side effects but I’ve just felt so full and disinterested in food. I’ve struggled to get more than 800 calories in and have completely gone off yogurt, which used to be a good vehicle for protein and calories.

I have been verging on nauseous and I’m concerned that the second 5mg dose, on top of last week’s, might make for an unpleasant few days.

Sorry to hear you have the reaction again @Ricoletti.

Zebracat · 27/05/2025 16:32

That’s interesting @AbundanceofKatherines .I’m wk5 day4 and Ive definitely got more suppression. But I’m also horribly constipated and having unpleasant dreams, I’m very scared of heights, flying etc and I’m dreaming about being on the tops of tall buildings, I’ve woken up twice in full blown panic attacks. I’m trying to eat a bit more, because I had a flare of gout, but at the same time I’m terribly sad not to be seeing movement on the scale. So, all in all, a bit unsettled. Last night I had a protein bar, hated it and knew that I should stop eating it, but persisted as I needed the calories, and paid by feeling so nauseous I had to go to bed. I hadn’t really understood when people talked about having to stop eating until then.

AbundanceofKatherines · 27/05/2025 18:00

That sounds horrible @Zebracat😔 I am also very bad with heights and often have dreams about falling - or dreams about my children falling from height. Fortunately they have been no worse since starting MJ. I am waking super early and unable to get back to sleep.

I’ve been very lucky not to have any constipation (touch wood) and no other bad side effects. Just a little indigestion, but I had that previously.

I’m being a bit of a princess and need to stop worrying and count my blessings instead!

Wishing you softer stools 💩 x

AbundanceofKatherines · 27/05/2025 18:02

Meant to say - I had a gout flare the very first week but not since, so hopefully your will settle.

Crunchymum · 27/05/2025 18:05

W5D4 for me too (first 5mg on Friday) and I'm definitely feeling less interest in food on 5mg. Although not in a particularly good way? It's a struggle to find anything I can be bothered to make / cook and I'm not fancying anything remotely healthy.

Today I've had no breakfast, a cheese and cucumber sandwich (on 2 small slices of wholemeal bread and I couldn't manage the crusts) and for dinner I have 80g of wholemeal pasta with homemade pasta sauce.

May get some melon in later and am trying for a side salad with dinner.

I don't feel poorly (thankfully) but the way I'm eating is as though I'm poorly if that makes any sense?

I very rarely lose my appetite so am not sure if this is what suppression feels like? 😅

I too am struggling with sleep. Waking loads (3 times) in the night.

My mood is also shocking. It's like PMT (but I've just finished my period)

Could be MJ? I'm also prime peri age as well.

AdotHam · 27/05/2025 18:21

Hi all, congrats on all of the progress… it’s amazing to follow along!
I am on day 2 of second week 5mg and @Crunchymum could have written the exact same post! Is suppression just feeling completely disinterested in all food?
I'm thrilled to be steadily losing but it’s so weird not to be interested at all. We have a family trip away for the next couple of days and I honestly am not sure how I’ll muster up any enthusiasm for the more ‘treat style’ food on offer?
I wonder if this is how a lot of slim people feel most of the time? Just food as fuel which honestly I’m not sure I love since so much of my identity and joy is tied up in cooking for people and drinking wine in the sun!
just trying to take each day one at a time and see how it goes….

Seahawk80 · 27/05/2025 18:32

@PeachSnail I totally get how you feel! But as others have said it’s a tiny gain over a weekend of being out lots and before you would probably have eaten / put on more. My weekend was quite boozy so I’ll try to remember my advice when I weigh in tomorrow!

@BrunocatmonI’m another half term with the kids jabber! Going to try the first golden dose this week so think I’ll do this evening rather than my usual Wednesday morning so I have peace and quiet!

@AdotHamlove your username!

PumpKim · 27/05/2025 18:54

@Brunocatmon
I think 1000 is really low, especially as I think you've previously said you have an active job and exercise regularly?

I aim for about 1700 (but some days it can be as low as 1400). That's a deficit for me and I've lost more or less 10lb in the last 4 weeks and I'm happy with that rate of loss. I'd be worried about nutrition at lower calories and side effects like hair loss.

I have some suppression, (weirdly more the last couple of days when I'm at the end of W4 on 2.5mg than at any point last week) but not so much that I can't eat a meal. I am going up to 5mg tomorrow but if the suppression means I just can't eat enough to be healthy then I'll drop back to 2.5.

Sallycinnamum · 27/05/2025 18:58

W5D4 and I think I've resigned myself to going up to 5mg for my next pen as I am getting little suppression now on 2.5mg.

I'm really concerned about side effects so can start on 3.75mg I suppose.

I've got three weeks left to make a decision but if I stay with Voy it's £199 and I'm worried no other provider will accept me as technically I'm nearly a healthy weight now. I would like to lose another 11lbs if possible.

Arghh, what to do!

SassyLimeHelper · 27/05/2025 19:09

Hi everyone, really interested to read your 5mg experiences. I have my first 5mg pen coming tomorrow and I'm very nervous - i took my golden dose on Saturday (0.7ml) and I've been super nauseous for 3 days now. I've managed to get between 1200 and 1400 cals in but my target is 1500. Annoyingly, the scales haven't moved at all this week either, though I'm struggling with constipation again and haven't been yet this week 😩
I'm thinking about counting clicks and taking 3.75mg - wish I'd just stuck with 2.5mg, but my suppression was a bit up and down and I panic ordered. Ideally, I want to make it as easy as possible to transition off the medication, so I'd like to lose the weight on the lowest doses possible. Does anyone know if the pen still locks after 4 doses of 45 clicks (i.e. if you haven't reached the 1 dose marker, does the pen still count the dose in the same way)?
The other thing I wanted to ask about was exercise - I know strength training is important and I've got a gym membership, but I'm such a novice I find the whole thing absolutely mortifying. I know, logically, that no one cares what I'm doing, but I still feel so embarrassed whenever I go

Caddycat · 27/05/2025 20:02

@Ricoletti that's so annoying. I wonder what causes it now but didn't with your previous pen?
@zebracat I had the most vivid of dreams about having a reaction to MJ and in my dream I had a massive red/purple mark on my stomach with veins showing everywhere. So vivid i had to check when I woke up... so weird!

I had a nice week end in London, somehow avoided eating too much but very few veg and fruit. I normally count calories but couldn't this week end so I hope the scales will be nice tomorrow.i e now done 3 weeks at 1.25mg and whilst I'm quite hungry, I'm also easily full and not thinking about food too much.

Well done everybody on the stone or near enough mark!

Zebracat · 27/05/2025 20:09

@SassyLimeHelper . I have a gym membership but I just use it for swimming. I’m planning to book a 30 min free session with a personal trainer when I get into the next stone bracket. I going to ask for a very basic strength training workout, and then I’ll up the repetitions weekly until I’m bored. Then I’ll see.

PeachSnail · 27/05/2025 20:54

I try to do some strength training at home 1 - 2 times a week. I don't enjoy it, so I try and make it more interesting by listening to a podcast. I do a mix of body weight exercises and dumbbell exercises (I bought these adjustable ones and store them under the living room sofa!) https://musclesquad.com/products/musclesquad-12-5kg-quick-select-adjustable-dumbbell-set?variant=42432255164645

The main thing is, I try to make the number of exercises relatively small and manageable... Otherwise I know I'll just get demotivated and not do them. I've decided it's better to do something rather than nothing at all!

Sweetspinach · 27/05/2025 21:18

I'm almost through my first week on 5mg and strangely I have felt much less nauseous on the 5mg than on the 2.5?? Maybe my body is adapting. I've also felt slightly less suppression and a bit more interest in food. No more weight loss either. It's all such a mystery. I'm hoping it builds up. MJ definitely isn't this easy option miracle fat melter the media would have us believe!

W5D5 here. So glad someone else seems to be feeling less suppression on 5mg…. Ive been properly hungry the last two days. Slightly less interested in treats but having to hold myself back on eating too much on meals. I think I’m pre-menstrual - well at least I’m hoping that’s the answer and the suppression returns, I don’t fancy another 3 weeks feeling hungry!

Thank you for your reply. 1000 calories is too low but I'm really struggling to eat more.

How do you know what a deficit is for you ( one ) anyway?

PoisonIvy89 · 27/05/2025 22:07

@Brunocatmon use any TDEE calculator and subtract 500 calories for your deficit

@PeachSnail ooh quick select adjustable?! I do not need new dumbells I do not nope, I need to be able to afford mounjaro next month 😂

@AdotHam it's a big adjustment going from being a foodie to being completely disinterested, it's just fuel to me now, it feels very strange after a lifetime of food being a hobby and an emotional crutch

4lbs lost this week, tipping me down into the 13 stones 🎉🎉🎉.
Was losing 1-2lbs per week through willpower until the MJ finally kicked in last week so absolutely delighted with that…feels like my first ‘proper’ week of being on it! 😁. Wouldn’t want to lose any more than that a week, so hoping I’ll adjust to the ‘hard stop’ effect and reduce portion size down to find my happy medium. Portion control is probably my main issue rather than what I’m eating (I.e. a ‘handful of nuts’ was weighing in at 30g so have now halved that by picking out 6 nuts for a portion rather than relying on a ‘handful’). Wk6, 2nd dose of 5mg later today.

Coventree · 28/05/2025 07:10

This is the calculator I use @Brunocatmon: https://tdeecalculator.net/. Put your details in, click calculate, then scroll down to the maintenance section. The ‘Cutting’ tab gives you how many calories you should be aiming for to lose weight, along with the protein, fat and carbs targets, which you can set in something like My Fitness Pal to check what you’re able to eat against those targets.

TDEE Calculator: Learn Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure

Use the TDEE calculator to learn your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, a measure of how many calories you burn per day. This calculator displays MUCH more!

Well done @Coventree! I’m a Wednesday
weigh in and jab day too and have lost 3lb this week after my golden dose of 3mg. I’ve decided not to jump to 5 this week but count 45 clicks to 3.75mg instead as having really high suppression at times.

One thing I did gradually realise as the week went on is that my suppression and ‘hard stop’ is mainly happening later in the day whereas at lunchtime I enjoy food normally. Planning this week to get more in at lunch.

OP posts:
Seahawk80 · 28/05/2025 07:58

Did the golden dose last night - so easy, I injected air in as others have said and it came out smoothly. I got just over 0.6 so happy with that. An
def going up to 5 next as was starving yesterday! But managed on willpower.

Weigh in today and lost 2 pounds - happy with that after lots of eating out and quite a lot to drink over the weekend. I’m finding weekends quite hard to navigate but I’ll just keep doing my best.

Good luck to everyone this week!

Scousebloke · 28/05/2025 08:19

@Coventree @wlinewbie0425
and @Seahawk80
Congrats to you all on the losses. Well done x

Coffeeandallthebooks · 28/05/2025 08:23

Well done on your losses @Coventree @wlinewbie0425 , @Seahawk80 !

I took my first 5 dose last night, seem to be OK so far but a bit anxious as I got nausea and vomiting on D2 with the first 2 2.5 doses. Will see how I get on.

There is definitely a difference, I lost 1 stone in 4 months calorie counting before starting and I've nearly lost that much in one month.

Lost 3lbs this week, so in total I've lost 11lbs on 2.5!
