We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

@Seahawk80 I’m glad you found the golden dose nice and easy 🥳

I barely ate yesterday. A combo of a wave of suppression and period woes I think 🫠

had few corn cakes and cheese spread at lunch then a teeny portion of Greek salad and hallumi for tea then went to bed early.

I know I am running on empty as stomach was churning and felt hungry in the night but I’m still totally unmotivated to eat. Like, I just can’t be bothered 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve got a big drive for work today and I’ve only managed coffee so far. Think I’m going to make a protein shake/ slimfast combo to sip as I drive, and hopefully this reignites my appetite for more food a bit later. I need to eat so I can take pain meds!!

I’ve found that if I don’t regularly eat enough over a few days then I lose my appetite totally, and just feel a bit sick. It reminds me of early pregnancy when I just felt low level nausea all the time and the more hungry I got the worse I felt . Vicious cycle.

urgh, sorry to be such a downer so early in the morning 🤣

My periods are hard work on MJ !

ymemanresu · 28/05/2025 08:41

@Coventree4llbs in a week is great 👍.

I was away for 3 days over the bank holiday, definitely ate and drank too much. 2nd jab of 5 mg yesterday and feeling rough, a bit sick. Had a bile burp last night and heaved a few times but nothing came up. I’m worrying anput gallbladder problems now.

ellieinfrance · 28/05/2025 08:47

I posted recently about slightly hideous experiences moving up to 5. I'm going to semi retract that as I actually think I had covid again, coinciding with moving to 5. My husband is also now ill (obviously more than I was) so I'm hopeful for my 2nd 5 injection tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

StartingApril2025 · 28/05/2025 09:21

Morning everyone! Been a few days since I checked in with my regret of continuing 2.5mg for another month but think it’ll be fine - I’m managing to eat full meals fine and being hungry for them but havnt pigged out on chocolate or treat food in between so I suppose even though the suppression of month 1 is gone it must still be doing something as I’m not overeating . I don’t have the fullness feeling as I previously had or the hard stop like some of you mention but that’s fine il manage!
@Ricoletti hope you feel better today and manage to eat!
@ymemanresu oh that burp sounds rough!!! Hope things settle down from here on!
@ellieinfrance glad your feeling better, good luck tomo for 2nd jab!!

Crunchymum · 28/05/2025 10:15

@Ricoletti you definitely need to get something in you if you have to drive.

I also take pain medication (as well as another weekly medication - another injection lucky me) and the pain meds can't be taken on an empty stomach.

I've been on MJ 5 weeks and have had 2 periods. Just the way my cycle has fallen unfortunately. They've not been noticeable different but I've not had the "junk cravings" I usually get which has been a positive.

Feel weird today. Not hungry, but very empty. It's not something I've felt before? I've definitely had suppression on 5mg but am so used to overeating I don't even recognise what suppression is!!

Oddly still not feeling confident about weigh-in on Friday despite eating less this week than any previous week. Am hoping for a lb or two though 🙏

RubyJuno · 28/05/2025 11:19

Morning all,

I had a lovely BH weekend away but have sprained ankle and fractured shoulder from a fall in a cavern!! Not working and can’t drive atm which is very frustrating, the shoulder isn’t massively painful but have to keep it immobile. At least with kids on half term I don’t have to get them anywhere this week but I don’t know how I’ll manage for the next few!

Moved to 5mg last Thurs and haven’t really had any additional side effects which is a relief. I did have a scone with clotted cream Saturday lunchtime (it’s all I had) and it sat quite heavily - I didn’t think I’d manage the pub tea. I ordered 2 starters of salt and pepper prawns then lamb koftas and the koftas were a struggle to finish.

Had a lot of wine but I’ve lost 1lb since Friday morning so can’t complain!

Now to plan meals I can prepare with one arm!!

Coventree · 28/05/2025 14:26

Thanks all! Jab number 6, 2nd 5mg dose done 👍

Well done my fellow Wednesday jabber and hard stopper @wlinewbie0425 👏 (mine’s a dinner hard stop too so I front load breakfast and lunch…I quite like doing it that way so it’s all good).

Good work @Seahawk80 and @Coffeeandallthebooks, we’ve got this 🎉

Hope you managed to get some food into you @Ricoletti. That doesn’t sound like a cycle you want to get into so hope you can find a way to break it x

@ymemanresu hope nothing else comes of your burps today and it was just a post-jab blip.

Yikes, that sounds tough @ellieinfrance - Covid and jabbing up 😮. Well done for coping with it all (although obvs you didn’t have it as bad as your poor husband 😉).

@StartingApril2025 could you go up to 3.75mg for your last two doses from the 2.5mg pen? You’d just need a syringe for the last dose. But sounds like you’re managing okay at the moment.

Hope your Friday weigh-in is better than you anticipate @Crunchymum…but there’ll probably be lots of other benefits going on even if this week doesn’t show it on the scales.

Oh no, @RubyJuno! That sounds…painful! Hope it heals quickly.

PeachSnail · 28/05/2025 16:30

Congrats on the losses @Coventree@Coffeeandallthebooks@wlinewbie0425@Seahawk80@RubyJuno 🙌🙌🙌

So sorry to hear about your fall @RubyJuno- that must have been scary and stressful. Really hope you're not in too much pain and that you can rest up and take it easy. Well done for navigating the eating out and dealing with the pain + stress of the fall and STILL managing a loss 👏👏👏

I managed to jab yesterday while the kids were watching TV. I did 3.75mg (45 clicks from a 5mg pen). Amazingly, this is the first time I've not had nausea, fatigue and burping the following day! I was actually wondering whether I'd done it right but then I had pretty high suppression over dinner last night and it's continued today. So... I guess I've arrived at a sweet spot in terms of my dosage (for now!). Very pleased as I'm hoping for a better loss this week.

BudgieMom · 28/05/2025 19:58

It's week 4 day 7 for me and just done the golden dose of my 2.5mg pen. I managed to get 0.8ml out so that is about 3.33mg. Got my 5mg in for next week but going to start with a 3.75mg dose by counting clicks. Fingers crossed for no bad side effects tomorrow!! Hope everyone is having a good week 😊

PoisonIvy89 · 28/05/2025 20:24

Wow some fantastic losses today!! well done @Coventree @wlinewbie0425 @Seahawk80 @Coffeeandallthebooks and anyone else I missed

@RubyJuno ouch! a fractured shoulder sounds painful! Hope you heal quickly and feel better very soon

PumpKim · 28/05/2025 20:53

First 5mg just done.
I did it in my thigh rather than stomach this time. I'm not sure I'm convinced that the injection site makes a difference to reactions/effectiveness, but I was nervous enough about potential side effects to give it a try 🙈🤣
Stupidly forgot to count to 5 but I'm not too worried about that.

toobusytoclean · 28/05/2025 20:55

Just finished week 5, with SheMed so had check in this evening and managed a 1.5kg loss for my first week on 5mg. Much better than the previous week’s 0.1 kg loss!
im hoping that slow and steady is what my body needs. I also know that an evening weigh in, fully clothed is not how I usually measure my weight, and my clothes are fitting so much better.
Hoping for not too many SEs from tonight’s jab.
congratulations to everyone else on their losses.

AbundanceofKatherines · 29/05/2025 08:43

Oh my goodness @RubyJuno- that sounds so painful and must have been really scary 😧

Well done everyone on another week of losses & NSVs.

I’ve just taken jab 6 - 2nd one at 5mg. I hope I have a little more appetite this week - struggled to reach more than 800 calories this week and have had to resort to protein bars, which imo are not proper food!

The only meal I’ve enjoyed this week was last night’s dinner - which was delicious! (Although I only had half a portion - the portions are huge) (https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chicken-butter-bean-pepper-stew

How were your SEs this week @Ricoletti? Apologies if I’ve missed it - this thread moves so fast!

I weigh in on Fridays, so will be back tomorrow x

Well done on all losses and bank holiday weekend wins! I took my first dose from 5mg pen last night, only did 3.75mg as due to an upcoming hol where I am not going to be able to take the medication for the whole period I dont want to go up too high as it will be going cold turkey for a few weeks.
Woke up this morning with a headache, very very dry mouth, blocked nose and throat feels really really dry too (not sure if that is an incoming cold or result of the jab), either way I am gonna fight through it.
Hoping the slight increase will help me lose just a little more each week as seem to be down to a 1lb loss each week (which i know is a loss) I was hoping for 2lb a week to get me to my mini goal before I go away but thats not really looking likely now.
Loss is now just over a stone and im into the 10's but this is where every other effort seems to stall so im a bit apprehensive as to whether this will continue to work now.

Why won’t you be able to take it on holiday? You should be able to get enough in advance and it’s fine to take in hand luggage if you’re flying. I can’t think of any other medication yo7 would just stop for a holiday.

Flowerchild547 · 29/05/2025 09:49

Checking in to see how everyone is getting on
I found that finally the suppression is lasting the whole week and yesterday forgot to inject until the evening as I didn’t realise a week had passed already! W3 on 5 now and I think I’ll reorder a 5 for next month just to see if the losses continue on this level before I increase dose!
What are other people thinking of doing?

Sheldon4k · 29/05/2025 10:14

I can take for first part of the trip as although theres a lot of travelling and moving about i believe i can get some kind of pack to maintain temp for the travel periods and then fridge when in location, but we are away for a month and part of it is trekking (no way to keep it cool) and temps will be high 30s. As much as I would risk certain things im not sure if want to risk not being able maintain its temp for over a week.
I have worked out if I take the pen in use at the time I will be able to have the last dose a day before the trekking part, but after that its going to be just over 2 weeks until I can have any further when I get back home. I cant justify taking a brand new pen and losing it all because I cant maintain its temp, its just too costly.
So although I know there will still be some mj in my system I am thinking the higher dose I go it will be more of a come down if SE exist when coming off it.

Im happy to hear suggestions if anyone has any about how I could reliably keep it cool.

bridgetreilly · 29/05/2025 10:20

Oh, I see, @Sheldon4k, that is tricky. It sounds as though you effectively only miss one dose (2 weeks between, instead of one) so that’s not so bad. As you say, it will still be in your system, and you’ll be doing lots of exercise so even if you are eating a bit more, that will help. Hope you have a brilliant trip.

AbundanceofKatherines · 29/05/2025 10:33

@Sheldon4k- I appreciate you have made your decision and are happy with it. Just thought I’d drop this here… Needs no freezer packs or soaking in cold water like others do. I have one, used it on holiday and it was excellent.

Sheldon4k · 29/05/2025 10:38

@bridgetreillythank you!
yeah its not that i dont want to have it because im on holiday, its the practicality of taking it sadly.
If anything i need it because its Southeast Asia and I have difficulty saying no to all the lovely food over there! Haha!!
I did make lots of enquiries about refrigeration but I just cant seem to make that part work out sadly.

Damage control is taking the pen for the first part to keep me away from the food (i have just found out there is a food festival taking place whilst we are there) and there will be a lot of exercise so im hopeful for a small gain only upon return, either way I will have a new pen to hand to jab as soon as I get back home. Lol!!

Sheldon4k · 29/05/2025 10:42

@AbundanceofKatherines oooh, I will have a look at that. I had considered the soak in water ones but it had been noted that water to soak in may be an issue (due to what we could carry) but as this doesn't appear to require any then it could work.. will look for some reviews!!
Thank you!

Tbh Sheldon, having read your last post I think I would carry on with your original plan and have a wonderful holiday! You could buy a BreezyPack to take with you (without medicine but with a fridge thermometer) as a test for future trips (and for the rest of us!) My holiday temperatures were never over 30 degrees, so was more for peace of mind than anything.

Sheldon4k · 29/05/2025 11:06

@AbundanceofKatherinesthats a good idea. I do still need to buy a case for the travel anyway, so looks like that would be suitable for the first part so popping a thermometer in for the test is a brill idea!

GeraniumRoseblush · 29/05/2025 11:08

Hi everyone 👋 new to this thread but have been lurking - well done to everyone on your losses so far!

I have a question to you wise mumsnetters - I'm due to take my golden dose tomorrow from my first 2.5mg pen and I have a 5mg pen lined up after that. I've had decent suppression the whole time, enough to eat 3 meals but not snack so 2.5mg has been working well and I've been losing 2lbs a week which works fine for me. So basically I wondered if there is any benefit to taking a bigger dose apart from stronger suppression?

Sorry if that's a bit of a numpty question but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing something obvious 😀

Hawkmoth · 29/05/2025 12:46

I took my 6th 2.5 on Tuesday night and I'm still struggling to eat even the volume of my fist in one go. I think I've done that once and it was mostly Pico de gallo.

I have lost a noticeable amount of weight and don't know if I will increase to 5 next time yet. I do feel like an outlier though, and will be happy to increase if I start feeling hungry.
