We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

I survived the coffee and pastry difficulty with daughter. In the end I had my usual order, just consumed it slowly with lots of water. No ill effects so far. Obviously not in calorie deficit today, but one day at a time 😊
my daughter (25) has my build, but taller and has just gone over 100kg for 5’7” ish. She is already buying size 20 trousers. She has awful eating habits and always buys biscuits etc just because they are “on special offer”, she boredom eats and her wfh days are the worst as she constantly raids the cupboards in her kitchen. She reminds me so much of my relationship with food. She knows she is making the wrong decisions. I just wish I could help her😢 but she left home at 18 and is very independent. I did ask today whether she had considered mounjaro but she hadn’t even heard of it. She is having blood tests shortly for under active thyroid as she was borderline when last tested. Maybe when she finally notices my weight loss I will share my secret, but she has Adhd and is autistic so she doesn’t really pay much attention to how other people look 🤷‍♀️
Sorry, none of you needed to know all of that - but I needed to offload 🤣

I used my measuring spoons and did 2 flat tablespoons like it said on the pack. So you're only putting one tablespoon in your coffee?

I now have a scoop that I have measured the correct weight (think it was 14g...but check that as i could be thinking about something else) so I know now that it is the right amount I am having.

One of my tablespoon measures (and it is a tablespoon for everything else...haha) weighed almost the total 14g. So if I had have had 2 tablespoons I would have been over.

No idea why... it is a true tablespoon measure.
I just happened to see people mentioning it on a Facebook post I believe, and I figured I would weigh it to see.

Just try actually weighing it when you next do it to be sure just incase. If its not that i would maybe contact them as I have gone through about 4 bags of it now and none of mine has left a taste (could be a bad batch)?

Is there a reason you don't just tell her now?

Ah, right, I'll weigh it, thanks.

Zebracat · 26/05/2025 18:20

@toobusytoclean . I’m struggling to understand why you wouldn’t just tell her too.

Nearlyhadenough · 26/05/2025 18:52

Argggghh….so close….13.889lbs at 4th weigh-in!

still happy though, sooooo much more than I would have lost without my.

Did a 3.75mg dose this evening as it’s a big jump to 5mg.

Well done everyone, it’s great reading about how your doing.

Coventree · 26/05/2025 19:14

Quick, run and have a wee (or a poo) and try again @Nearlyhadenough 🤣

toobusytoclean · 26/05/2025 19:45

@Sunshineandpool & @Zebracat it just didn’t feel right today. She is very egocentric due to her neurodivergence and has a lot going on in her own life.
I will let her know next time, mentioning mounjaro today was planting the seed of an idea I hope.

@Nearlyhadenough completely agree with this idea. Or just lean slightly on your scales 🤣. That’s definitely you in the 1st club 👍🏻 Well done!

I googled and 14g is 1 tablespoon - so not sure why it says 2 on the pack?! I'll try with one scoop tomorrow and hope I get on better with it.

Hawkmoth · 26/05/2025 22:29

@toobusytoclean I have two daughters, both likely ND. It's been a constant worry. They are both healthy weights but I don't want them to even start thinking about losing weight because of the link between EDs and ND. My 19yo is going to be a bit shocked when she comes home from uni, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it. I expect her to give me a number of lectures on the matter and my unwise choices!

wlinewbie0425 · 26/05/2025 22:32

@Nearlyhadenoughcongrats on 1 stone loss (the down side of super accurate modern scales - 13.889 is so ridiculously close to 14lb that you wouldn’t even be able to distinguish on traditional scales! Well done to everyone else on all the little wins scales and otherwise.

Interesting reading about all your collagen stuff. I just got some random capsules without much research but they are a lot lower dose. My main reason was potential hair loss though and since read Biotin is more important for that so been taking it too.

It’s interesting hearing about all your bank holiday weekends, it’s the first one since most of us started and therefore for many of us first time navigating situations of eating/drinking in public.

Mine has gone well overall, but have struggled at points with feeling horribly full. I had a long planned weekend away and despite making good choices (mainly chicken based dishes with little or no carbs) the alcohol on top made me feel horribly bloated and like I was full right up to my throat for hours into each evening. Quite unpleasant. But I did manage to enjoy it and also sleeping well and not being even a little hungover either of the mornings! I did hit a hard stop both evenings too - that feeling when I literally can’t put in another bite or sip of anything. It’s so odd. haven’t been doing my daily morning weigh ins this weekend, so have no idea what to expect. I feel like I’ve massively indulged but objectively, I really didn’t. I don’t calorie count but know that the wine will have taken it much higher than my Mounjaro normal. Still all the food was healthy whereas normal me on a treat weekend would have had massive breakfasts and all the carbs for all the meals.

My other update is that I ordered pen 3 from medX last night (bank holiday Sunday). (Not even opened pen 2 that’s this week) but all the tales of delays and stock issues got me anxious. I’ve had the Royal Mail email already that it’s arriving tomorrow (tuesday) morning. So clearly they are fine for 5mg on a quick turnaround if anyone is worried.

Coventree · 27/05/2025 08:02

Sounds like you navigated your weekend away very well @wlinewbie0425. Shame about the alcohol feeling, but then if you were drinking/eating as you would have done before you started all this, then I’m guessing you probably would have been suffering in other ways (such as a hangover), so sounds an overall win 🎉. And good to know about MedExpress. I’m going to leave it another week and then re-order, but was a little concerned if they were having stock issues.

I’m still loving the novelty of the hard stop - makes me smile every time. Seems to be in the evening more than breakfast/lunch which is perfect as I can focus on hitting my protein intake during the day and my dinner leftovers can then become my next-day lunch (half of last night’s vintage cheddar and steak burger, salad and olive oil dressing is awaiting me in the fridge, which I’ll top up the protein quota of with some quinoa). Looking forward to dose 2 of 5mg tomorrow and hoping the tiredness will ease off as I get used to it 😊.

Hope everyone is settling back into work/half-term okay after the long weekend, and have a happy, healthy day!

violetmondays · 27/05/2025 08:55

@Hawkmoth@toobusytoclean I also have 2 daughters, eldest (13) most likely ND and has food issues herself so we have always tried to only talk about eating healthily and never about weight. I’m not sure what I’ll say if she asks me about the weight loss, but so far I’ve explained my food changes on just trying to eat healthier and she knows I’ve been doing more exercise too. Her dad has a career in fitness too so he is mad on exercise. But I agree it is a worry and I am trying to be super careful what I say in front of them.

@wlinewbie0425 sounds like you had a great weekend and did all the right food things. I’ve also had a few small glasses of wine this weekend and it was nice to just be able to stop after 2 and not feel
rough the next morning.

@Coventree that steak burger sounds yum for later - enjoy!

It could be because the powder is really fine and light?
Im not sure anymore as I just use my scoop that I have weighed out.

Beachbabes · 27/05/2025 10:27

I'm back after a week away, I maintained so I am happy with that. It was my last week on 2.5mg so the suppression wasn't good towards the end of the week. Took my first 5mg dose on Sunday night, not a great night, but I was ok as the day went on and just a bit of nausea this morning so its all good so far.

I can't even try to read back on the posts, hope you are all managing ok ... onwards and downwards!!

PeachSnail · 27/05/2025 11:11

Weigh in day (a day late due to being away for the bank hol weekend)

SW 87.65kg
CW 83.5kg
GW 65kg

Argh I'm feeling gutted as I weighed myself on Friday, before we went away and the scales said 82.7kg... Now we're back from our weekend away and I've put on 0.8kg... FFS

I'm just stewing in my disappointment at the moment. I feel really annoyed with myself.

I know I'll come round, but it just shows how hard it is to keep to healthy eating in these scenarios... Despite smaller portions, avoiding desserts, avoiding chips, avoiding booze at the pub... It's still been enough for me to add that weight on because I've had to eat the more carby meals with the rest of the family (due to being away in an Airbnb) and because we've been out and about eating in pubs + cafes.

Also I need to jab today (new pen and intending to count the clicks) but have the kids round the house on half term so don't feel I can find somewhere to do it without being disturbed... So I'm needing to hold on to some will power for the time being!

I guess this is a journey with ups and downs... I'd just got used the high of seeing a lower weight each week and feeling positive.

Sunshineandpool · 27/05/2025 11:15

Both my 2 18 and 13 are autistic as am I. I've not hidden the MJ from them. They are fully aware I'm morbidly obese so as to why it is necessary. I'm eating the same healthy food we always have but just smaller portions but again they understand why. I don't ever call food healthy/unhealthy. Very different to how I grew up with a slim mum constantly on a diet! I did have ED tendencies but it wasn't really because of that- it was because I was so miserable.

Sunshineandpool · 27/05/2025 11:18

Sheldon4k · 27/05/2025 10:15

Very odd. I've tried 1 tblsp in a Starbucks caramel frappucino bottle (much sweeter than my normal coffee) and I can't taste it except a slight aftertaste. So much better!

violetmondays · 27/05/2025 11:21

@PeachSnail yes I was wondering how I’m going to manage to jab on Friday with the kids being here - I think I’ll have to lock myself in the bathroom!

Brunocatmon · 27/05/2025 11:23

Hi all.

Well done on everyone's weekend losses. Keep the faith to anyone who's struggling, all good things and all that.

So I was speaking to a pt yesterday who I have known for many years. She says she has never trained anyone in fat loss or when they were shredding at less than 1400 calories and 1000 is way too low.

I just can't eat more, I have literally no appetite.

What are everyone's calorie goals? How are you managing to eat enough?
What training are you doing? X

toobusytoclean · 27/05/2025 11:34

W5D6
even on 5mg I can feel the effects wearing off for these final 2 days. The tedious marking of test papers is also making me think I’m hungry 🤣. SE have also disappeared thank goodness.
however the will power is better this week, as I am hoping to have a better weight loss at my weekly weigh in tomorrow evening.

I’ve noticed I’m not sleeping as well on 5mg as I was on 2.5mg and am waking super early, around 4am then falling asleep again around 5:30. Don’t need a wee or anything so I have no idea what that’s all about.

Ricoletti · 27/05/2025 13:05

Hi all, nice to hear all the tales of bank holiday weekend.

for those feeling disappointed at little losses, I totally get it! I gained a bit after the weekend. But I have tried hard to reframe it as a positive - that I’ve only gained a bit… and any other pre MJ bank holiday I would have likely gained at least double that without even noticing !

We are all headed in the right direction and are trucking on, that’s the main thing.

So, after my second 5ml dose this weekend I’ve got another red , itchy reaction at injection site 🫨

this didn’t happen at all with 2.5, when I sometimes got a little bruise but nothing else.

its a red blotch the side of a 50p coin and is red, raised and super itchy!!!

I can only imagine the stronger 5ml meds is making me react like this, but I’m really miffed about it as the red blotch from last week is still a little bit visible and now I’ve got a matching blotch on the other side!

my poor squishy belly has enough to worry about, shrinking and getting weirdly lumpy and wrinkly in the process- without blotches to add to this!

im using antihistamine cream and tablets to manage the itch, and have read that it’s a normal and common side effect 🤷🏻‍♀️
