We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

good luck @ellieinfrance and you too @Vixs13 , hope the side effects are ok

@Ricoletti I got one that goes on your wrist, I was surprised how good it is. I think i got mine in argos

hi and welcome @Seahawk80

@Sheldon4k argh so close! fingers crossed for tomorrow!

weigh in day tomorrow and jab number 4. I'll be ordering my next pen, I've decided to stay at 2.5mg as it's working well for me.

Crunchymum · 23/05/2025 06:56

Weigh-in number 4 for me and a another measly lb off. I lose a lb a week doing it alone!!

I am on my period but it was only -1lb last week too.

Overall though my loss in 4 weeks in -10.5lbs which I'm happy with. I've said I'll be happy with losing half a stone a month so I've surpassed this.

Taking my first 5mg tonight so fingers crossed.

Vixs13 · 23/05/2025 07:10

Morning

Just done weigh in number 4 and lost 1.4lbs. I’ve lost 8.2lbs on MJ and I’m still including the week I lost on my own as I think that was my water weight 😂 that was 4.1lbs so in 5 weeks I’ve lost 12.3lbs.

I will be honest I did think I would have lost a bit more with MJ but let’s see what 5mg brings 😬

I did 5mg jab last night slept like a baby but awake early as usual. Bit of dry mouth and a headache but so far thats it. I feel the same as I do the day after 2.5mg so let’s how it continues.

Cravingpotatoes · 23/05/2025 07:12

Morning!
Rubbish loss this week but have my period and have been hungrier than I have been the last 4 weeks so I’m not worried….im still getting there one way or another
Going to attempt to syringe the final dose from my pen today, let you know how it goes!

SW 91kg
CW 85.1kg
GW 68 kg

PeachSnail · 23/05/2025 07:31

Well done on the losses @Cravingpotatoes @Vixs13 @Crunchymum! Even if things have slowed up, it's all heading in the right direction... And I'm sure things will pick up again as you increase your dose.

Quick question: how are you identifying what your goal weight is? I just kind of picked a number at the mid-point of the healthy BMI range, but that might be wrong according to the numbers I got by entering my stats into this website https://www.calculator.net/ideal-weight-calculator.html

To be honest, being around that kind of weight just feels like such a distant dream... I think I've just kind of glossed over it 😅

Brunocatmon · 23/05/2025 07:36

Good morning.

I'm a daily weigher and I'm the same as i was yesterday. Trust the process.

So MJ. "All" it does it supress the appetite right? It doesn't magically melt fat away. We still have to be in a calorie deficit, so we need to be eating less calories than we are burning using nutrition and exercise. It would be the same result if you weren't using MJ doing exactly the same things. Possibly the only difference would be that we'd be hungry, grumpy?

I think it's important to remember this whilst we're on this journey.

My daughter gave me a good tip at the beginning, she suggested not counting in whatever exercise you're doing.

So, assume you're not doing any exercise ( like, dont log it on your fitness pals, apps etc ) and eat in a calorie deficit for that, then any exercise that you do, is extra. It works for me.

I'm not sure if this makes as much sense written down as it did in my head but I think it might be helpful when we are disappointed that we are losing weight at a rate similar to if we weren't using MJ.

Feel free to ignore this rambling. 😁

AbundanceofKatherines · 23/05/2025 07:51

W5D2 and weigh in day. Took my 1st 5mg dose yesterday at 8am and so far no SEs. I was nervous going to bed and talked myself into some nausea - but I don’t think it was real. No interest in food at all right now.

SW 12st 7.5
CW 11st 7.6 (should have waited half an hour to weigh!)

Starting Waist 42”
Current Waist 35” !!!! So pleased with this! No wonder my clothes are getting more comfortable.

I have gained and lost and gained 2/3/4 stones so many times over 30 years, so am a very experienced and successful dieter. I can generally tell how successful my diets have been by how hungry I am. I’m finding this hard to judge and am still obsessing, but I know I must trust the process and relax into it.

Have lovely weekends all x

PumpKim · 23/05/2025 08:01

@Brunocatmon not rambling, it makes perfect sense. On previous diets I've lost and gained each week like a yoyo, this time I feel like I can consistently and steadily keep going down. The amount to lose and time it will take is daunting but this is the first time I've felt like it's actually possible.

@PeachSnail on that calculator it puts my ideal between 8 and 8.5 stones. Which isn't crazy as I'm only 5'2 but I haven't been that weight since my early 20s. I'm aiming to be between 9 and 9.5 as that feels more realistic to my middle-aged self. I'd like to be a comfy size 12 I think 🤔

Hi @Brunocatmon- I’m with Juniper (I know, expensive option, but was recommended to me and I have found them to be excellent so far). They supplied a tape measure and scales with the first order and ask you to track weight and waist. They recommend daily weighing.

You could start taking your measurements today?

RubyJuno · 23/05/2025 08:34

Morning all, just thought I’d add my two-pennerth as I was scouring other threads last night for people who’ve moved up to 5mg on week 5 and not suffered! I’ve had no side effects on 2.5mg and you tend to hear more about the bad experiences so I wanted to add to the positivity other have already shared!

Dithered about whether to move up - I’ve lost 10ld in the first 4 weeks which is brilliant but I’ve definitely found the last couple of weeks the effect has waned and although I think I’d be fine with another week, didn’t want to find myself struggling with a pen to use up.

Jabbed about 8pm last night and ate a stupidly late dinner at about 11pm thanks to husband working late. I’m feeling fine this morning, slightly loose bowels but nothing that would be cause for alarm.

Also if anyone’s interested, dinner was an easy ready meal of Tesco Finest Lasagna Al Forno. It’s 670 calories and 43 grams of protein. I’d only had a protein yogurt and a chicken skewer all day (bad on the veggies yesterday) so it was well within allowance and really high on protein so a winner for me.

Away for the weekend with friends and kids (17 of us in one house…) which was another reason for the dithering, so wish me luck!

I think i will, that must be so motivating.

Vixs13 · 23/05/2025 09:21

Oooo I’ve just done my measurements and I’m well impressed! In 4 weeks I’ve lost 3.5in off chest (bye bye boobs!) and 3in off waist! Between 1-2in off everywhere else! Really impressed with that.

oooh fat ‘pills’ are in the news…

Crunchymum · 23/05/2025 11:21

Another one who didn't take starting measurements but I will measure once a month from now.

The scales don't tell the whole story.

violetmondays · 23/05/2025 11:43

Morning! Well done on everyone's losses and good luck for those weighing over the weekend.

Week 5 day 1 for me and final weigh-in from 1st pen. I've lost 1.5lb which isn't much but better than nothing and I'm happy for now to not go too fast. That's a total of 11lb in first month which is absolutely brilliant as I wasn't losing anything significant on my own.

SW: 13.3
CW: 12.6
GW: 10 st

@Vixs13 well done on your measurements! I forgot to to take measurements too.

Thanks for posting that calculator @PeachSnail - I just picked 10 stone for my goal weight as I remember being around that when I got married and felt happyish with my weight, but according to the calculator my ideal weight should be between 9 and 9.5 stone, which is quite light and would put me at a size 8-10 (which would be amazing but I doubt I would be able to maintain that). It would also mean I have more than 4 stone to lose instead of 3 which sounds more daunting.

So after spending the last 4 weeks saying I wouldn't do the golden dose - I got brave this week and ordered some syringes - thanks to everyone who detailed their experiences on here as it gave me the confidence to do it, and I just got a nice 0.7ml (3mg) final dose. My hands were definitely a bit shaky and it was quite hard to get it out, the syringe kept sucking back back in when I was trying to pull it out but managed it in the end and this will just tide me up to next week week where I will take 3.75 out of my 5mg pen.

One thing I thought might be helpful - I was chatting to a good friend of mine who recently lost weight using mj. She has been off it for nearly 6 months and has managed to maintain so far by just being a bit careful about what she's eating and not going mad. She said she doesn't really avoid particular foods but tries to eat healthily and not overeat or snack too much. I think it made me realise that that maintenance IS possible as long as I don't go back to old overeating and snacking habits. It's easy to say that now when cravings are taken care of though.

PoisonIvy89 · 23/05/2025 11:49

well done @Crunchymum @Vixs13 @Cravingpotatoes @AbundanceofKatherines @RubyJuno @violetmondays

@Brunocatmon It makes perfect sense, you're right, people are expecting the meds to make the fat just disappear. We still have to do all the same "eat less, move more" stuff, the mj is just making that easier to do and stick to for more than a few days. I also ignore any "exercise calories" that the apps tell me I should be eating. I might as well not do any exercise if I'm not going to benefit from the extra burned off calories!

@AbundanceofKatherines 7inches already?!!! wow!! well done!

@RubyJuno 17 people in one house, that's gonna be chaos! how many are kids? good luck!

@Vixs13 the boobs are always the first to shrink! well done!

@violetmondays well done for trying and getting the 5th dose out!

I wasn't expecting to see much of a loss today being on my period and also I've increased my exercise this week so I'm a bit achey and maybe retaining fluid but happy to report I've lost 3lbs. Total loss so far 12.4lbs.

SW 277lb / 19st11
week1 4.5
week2 4.9
week3 3
CW 264.6lb / 18st12.6

violetmondays · 23/05/2025 11:53

Well done @PoisonIvy89 3lb is great for this week and a fab total so far 👏

Crunchymum · 23/05/2025 11:57

Well done @PoisonIvy89

And to everyone who has had a a loss be it on the scales or with the tape measure.

Long may it continue.

Hawkmoth · 23/05/2025 12:33

I tried on some ankle boots that I bought but couldn't get my foot in. I got my foot in, but then had to text DH 'Help' and he had to pull it off. Still counts!!! 🤣

I've not done measurements, and I don't have scales, but my arms are getting thinner, and that's great. Lipoedema means that's a real problem area for me so improvement there in particular is really pleasing.

Lidlbitofmonica · 23/05/2025 14:01

W4D1 here, just went to the pharmacist for my 5g pen. 8.5lb down and 3 inches off my waist - actuslly feels like more off the bottom of my stomach!
Has anyone found any more side effects with the 5mg dose? Everyone is doing so well , congrats to us all 😀

Seahawk80 · 23/05/2025 14:20

@violetmondaysthanks for sharing your friends story - give me hope! I do think that not going back to old habits will be key. My mum and sisters have also been on MJ and it’s interesting to see the difference, my younger sister and I have really changed habits, she is now just using 2.5 for maintenance for a while. My other sister snacked on rubbish the whole time but tiny amounts and how now come off and is struggling. My mum hasn’t changed a thing and probably won’t loose weight! I knew what I was doing wrong before (loads of sugar and big portions) but between a demanding job and 2 children (1 with ADHD who needs a lot of my time and energy) I just was too tired to make changes. I feel like MJ has given me the space to do this - then it will hopefully be habit and I just need to keep it up (easy to say I know)!

@Brunocatmoni also don’t count exercise- I save those calories for a few glasses of wine at the weekend 🤣. I do drink less now but still enjoy it.

well done to everyone on their losses and NSVs! Am off to do my measurements!
