We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

@toobusytoclean well done!! I’m not weighing myself because I’m too chicken to deal with low loss but definitely lost weight round my middle! Just taken my first 5mg for W5 too. Yesterday I felt as though I wasn’t even on MJ with food noise & fake hunger back with a vengeance so pleased to be going up a dose! 🤞🤞Keep it up everyone! We are doing this for ourselves and it’s OK to be selfish when it comes to our health! ☺️

Sweetspinach · 22/05/2025 07:57

I've just had my weekly weigh in and my weight has not shifted even by a gram! This was my 4th week of 2.5. I'm very down about it, it seems my body will always fight whatever I attempt, to lose weight. It will always adjust. I'm due to start 5mg , pen to arrive today. Praying things will start moving again.

Even without mounjaro I can't understand how I haven't had a loss. Been eating so little, so healthy. No alcohol, plenty of exercise, at least 15000 steps a day.

I feel all the old despair creeping back in.

Ricoletti · 22/05/2025 08:09

@Sweetspinach I’m sorry you are feeling low about this. It’s so frustrating when you make such an effort and don’t see the scales moving!

I know there are lots of people that really don’t see the changes until 5ml , and for many 2.5 is too low a dose to have an impact. I hope this is the case for you.

your healthy new lifestyle sounds amazing, and is undoubtedly doing you so much good in lots of other ways!

Just a thought, Could you be eating too little maybe? I had a week of practically fasting and didn’t lose anything, I think my body panicked and held onto everything.

sending support and hugs xx

PeachSnail · 22/05/2025 08:10

@Sweetspinach sorry you're feeling demotivated. Totally understandable. We're all investing so much hope in something finally working out for us.

But I do think week 4 of the 2.5 dose is usually the slowest in terms of weight loss. Our bodies have got used to the drug so it's having less of an effect.

I only lost 0.2kg on week 4, when I'd been losing about 1.7kg on previous weeks. I'm sure things will pick up when you move up to the next dose.

Onwards on downwards! We've got this 💪🫶

Sweetspinach · 22/05/2025 08:25

Thanks folks. Such a great space here for support, from people who really understand.

It's encouraging to hear that this may be a thing, the final 2.5mg week being slow. I just dread feeling the way I have lived for years. So much effort, so little results. It's tough mentally.

But you're right, onwards and downwards! Chins up xx

AbundanceofKatherines · 22/05/2025 08:29

Sorry to hear it’s not working for you yet @Sweetspinach- I’m sure it will in time. Maybe the changes in your activity levels have cause some water retention and you’ll get a big “whoosh” next week. Logic says that all your good work will have an effect, hang on in there x

I have just done my first 5ml dose. Scary! Have had some tummy trouble this week and last, although seemingly untreated to the timing of the jabs,
but am very nervous that I might have to spend the whole weekend within 5m of the loo! I will be obsessing via Shotsy for the next 24 hours 😳

Am weighing in tomorrow and will report back.

toobusytoclean · 22/05/2025 08:50

@Sweetspinach i understand completely how you feel, in the past I would plateau really quickly when dieting and give up as I needed the motivation of seeing my weight go down. At least we know we’ve invested financially as well as emotionally in this journey, and the pen is in the fridge for the next month so no quitting. It sounds like you’re doing everything you should be doing, hopefully the 5mg will start to give the results you deserve.
I already feel less hungry this morning after my 5mg jab. But didn’t achieve the burst of energy reported by@Ricoletti

AbundanceofKatherines · 22/05/2025 09:13

I have run out of protein yogurt, so I thought I’d add some of my husband’s protein powder to my kefir this morning. I have questions…

  1. why does it have to taste so disgusting?

  2. it looks awfully UPFy, given that in the rest of my diet I’m trying to eat lovely fresh, natural foods.

  3. are there any nicer alternatives?

Hi there.
I dont know if it might be too much of a faff but it might be worth figuring out your macros and making sure you're in a healthy calorie deficit.

There's a guy on insta, he's a nutritionist and he's brilliant at showing you what is " im eating so little and not losing" versus alternatives. Ill try and find his name.

Also like a pp said you might not be eating enough. Don't forget our nutrition is the majority of our fat loss, exercise is an extra.

I'm sure it'll pick up for you. Keep going, it's a marathon not a sprint and keep posting when you feel disheartened. You've got this

I know it's personal preference but some Greek yoghurt can have up to 25g of protein per 100g and cost way less than marketed protein yoghurt.

I'm using my protein powder and it has some really nice flavours, there's always a bit of an aftertaste, ive never tried one that doesn't give you that tbh.

PeachSnail · 22/05/2025 09:21

@AbundanceofKatherines I usually have a morning protein smoothie with protein powder and other stuff like frozen berries, almond butter, greek yoghurt and flax... I use the other stuff to slightly disguise the taste of the protein powder.

I had a look for a powder that was less UPF-y and I managed to find this one from Bulk https://www.bulk.com/uk/products/super-pea-protein-isolate/bpb-sppi-0000

It doesn't contain all the additives and uses Stevia as the sweetener (which is more natural). I use the vanilla one, but still don't love the taste if I'm honest!

Buy Pea Protein Isolate Powder|Bulk™ UK

Buy Super Pea Protein Isolate from Bulk™. This popular plant based vegan protein powder provides up to 80g protein per 100g, with minimal fat and carbohydrate content. Bulk, formerly Bulk Powders.

Thank you @Brunocatmon- I’ll have a good read when I next browse the supermarket shelves!

I literally spend ages these days choosing food. 😁 has to be Greek though and not Greek style. X

Hi 5mg ers, has anyone decided whether they’ll go up to 7.5mg next time yet? I’m on my first week of 5mg, and I’ve already had an email asking me to order the 7.5mg! I’ve no idea yet!

Can’t keep up.. I had my E mail from Med Express too. I will buy the 7.5 but stay on 5mg depending how i feel. Week 5 day 2 full dose of 5mg. Had cravings yesterday but definitely more suppression today.

How much have you lost overall?

I've struggled with 2.5mg. Feel I've made very little progress. I've had some loss but it's been mainly through willpower and gritting my teeth. Week 3 in particular I felt deprived and miserable, although week 4 has been a bit easier?

Excited to take my first 5mg jab tomorrow!

Hoping it becomes a bit easier for those of us who haven't found our groove on 2.5mg.

Coventree · 22/05/2025 12:54

Please keep going @Sweetspinach and fingers crossed you start to see results. As you can see from @Crunchymum and me amongst others, we’ve all reacted differently and not all of us have been that successful on 2.5mg. Is it worth posting what you’re eating in a typical day to see if there are any healthy tweaks you could make?

I have to say, day 1 of 5mg, and I can feel something…a vague fullness perhaps, that I haven’t had before - it’s not suppression as such and there’s no mental difference I can discern, but there’s a undefined feeling of something different. Hoping it will progress over the next few days/next week to the point I can say ‘yes! 5mg has worked!’

Crunchymum · 22/05/2025 12:57

I'll be joining you on 5mg tomorrow @Coventree hope to feel some suppression.

I've definitely made a lot of changes to my diet in this first month (I'm completely off all refined sugar and usually I last about 3 days before I end up at the biscuits) but I'm still hungry, still eating my 3 meals a day and often needing a snack. I'm making better choices, eating less but I'm still my usual food obsessed self.

Excited to see what 5mg brings.

Coventree · 22/05/2025 13:02

Excited for you too!

wlinewbie0425 · 22/05/2025 13:17

Hi everyone - it does seem like this 4-5weeks in stage is a difficult bit for lots of people.@Sweetspinachhave you had a browse of the other threads there are definitely a lot of people experience this but then start to find it working when they reach the dose that is right for them.

i agree with whoever said that in some ways the prohibitive cost is also a good incentive not to give up if you have a crap week.

I have given up on protein shakes and powders, yet to find one that isn’t rank in texture, flavour or both. My go to now for the times when I can’t eat proper food is slimfast . They have a good amount of protein and at least mean getting in calories and vitamins when nothing else works. And I actually enjoy them. Most days I only have one for breakfast but today I’m just having my second after spending half my lunch hour walking round Morrisons and there being nothing at all I felt I could eat. Only got 3mg in my 5th dose but suppression today is noticeably higher. I don’t think I can jump straight to 5 next week.

Scousebloke · 22/05/2025 13:34

If i need to snack im just having a couple of handfulls of mixed nuts and seeds. I know some may find it boring but very good for you as long as you dont have too many.

violetmondays · 22/05/2025 13:37

For those looking for a good protein powder, I use an unflavoured one from My Protein. I stir it into yoghurt and it just gives it a fairly plain creamy taste without sweetness which I think is nice on it's own but sometimes also add my own flavours such as choc shot (low cal choc sauce), fruits, berries, nuts etc. I was dubious at first as I really don't like other ones I have tried, I find them too sweet and sometimes too chemically flavoured. I spent £40 on Huel products and hated it, that's what prompted me to try the unflavoured and it's a game changer.

https://www.myprotein.com/p/sports-nutrition/impact-whey-protein-powder/10530943/

Edited to add that it's really smooth and silky and not grainy at all.

Edited

Just finished work and having a catch up.

I've lost 7lb over the 4 weeks. Not massive but honestly with my track record I'm quite happy with any progress..it's just seeing nothing this week really upset me.

I'm sure like a lot of us on this thread, I know what to eat. I'm eating plenty of protein, drinking lots of water, just generally being healthy. It's frustrating when a person with no weight issues, could drop weight massively on my diet, without medication, yet I'm still struggling!!

Anyway, I have to honestly say, to have so much support and empathy from you guys is really really helping. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Gonna have a good read back of all your thoughts later.
