It's great to read the substantial health benefits people are experiencing on MJ. The physical stress on the body of carrying so much surplus fat is awful .
I'm 5ft 8.5in and my SW was 182lbs. I think my BMI was 27.2. I was prescribed MJ because of high cholesterol - I've been on statins for years.
I lurked around 170lbs for a few years after quitting alcohol. I did Low Carb and got down to 165, stayed there a few years, then it crept up to 180! FFS. Clothes not fitting,
I exercise loads. Swim 4/5km per week, park run, cycle 50km in winter, 100+ in Summer. I competed in a half ironman at 175lbs. That's 11lbs overweight.
I'm doing another half IM this year. I do not want to carry surplus fat around what is a 70.3 mile distance.
I do a professional job. I quit alcohol (a nasty wine habit). I've lost weight - gold member of Weight Watchers, years at SW, Low Carb. Yet here I am at 57, 18 lbs overweight! I've only told my DH I'm on MJ.
I've lost 12 lbs in 9 weeks. To me that is magical. I weigh daily, and it bounces a bit, but not above 170. My clothes fit! I'm on 5mg and losing 1lb per week and happy with that. I'm trying hard to keep muscle- doing weights, cycling hard.
I am so less hungry. I can delay breakfast, eat smaller.
I'm terms of side effects- I'm cold. Weird in this heat. I feel low energy. I definitely need a rest day after a hard workout. My sleep isn't great. It was troublesome anyway post menopause, but I keep waking really early. 5 and 6 am. I need to work on this.
I'm reading the 'gain' thread with interest. It makes sense to me. I've regained before post weight loss, so why should MJ be different?. But like others I will use a pen beyond 30 days. I'll see if I can maintain at 2mg dosage. There may be a tablet form by then.
We have different starting points - different BMIs - but the same goal - a BMI within out healthy range. (Which may be >25. You decide)
